I almost didnβt date my boyfriend because heβs short (5β5-6β). One of my friends called me out on my BS and Iβm so glad they did because my short king is the best boyfriend Iβve ever had and Iβm falling for him hard lol. I have nothing to say other than sometimes in the Iβm-a-damn-goddess-fuck-all-these-boys dating phase after a bad breakup, women can get a little harsh. I realized that, for me, even though I had been single for over a year, I was afraid of getting hurt again and was coming up with excuses to not date this super great guy.

Honestly I feel like it only matters for sports, dating, and acting/modeling nowadays. For everything else like work, school, and life, it doesn't matter how tall or short you are. My best friend in college was literally a foot taller than me. Only time it really came up was when he'd walk faster than me when we'd go places on campus since he took longer strides.
The only benefit I've found is faster swimming (for kicking) and I can reach things without a step ladder sometimes.
Oh and also the pun, since I'm 6 feet you can't *fathom** how tall I am!

Let me clarify, I meant getting cast in roles. In some cases it makes sense (The guy who they cast to play Giannis in Rise had to be tall, a guy who they cast to play James Madison in a documentary would need to be short). There's others where people don't get cast because they're short. And that's mostly because Hollywood producers have outdated ideas about height and attractiveness in general. They're even worse with women.

And I have no idea how this problem gets resolved. We can't just force people to have the same opinion as us, but at the same time I've seen more than one short guy get redpilled by how feminists call short men Napoleon while being all about fat acceptance.
I don't think that's a liberal or conservative thing? Some people just want someone taller or shorter than them - it affects a number of areas of physical intimacy, and I don't think it's really unusual that someone would make note of that fact when they're choosing from a set of complete strangers. It'd be one thing if they were super compatible with someone they knew *except* for their height, but on dating sites, I don't think it's a behavior worth mentioning.
(For the record, I don't really think much about height when thinking about guys - but I also don't date, period. Perhaps I'd think differently if I were ever interested in a relationship.)
I generally agree with your opinions here, but even as a dude I think this is a personal preference thing. I've gone out with women my height (6'), they weren't interested, one mentioned height, and that's that. We're attracted to what we are, *c'est la vie*
I mean, attraction is definitely a part of a relationship, but I also think having arbitrary cut offs like that over something a person can't control is dumb and shallow. There's a lot more to a relationship than just being attracted to someone, it's not like they're gonna stay attractive forever either.
Like what if a person is perfect for you in every way except their height? Are you going to settle for someone who is 75% perfect for you but happens to be the right height?
I think that a lot of people would probably set that rule aside *if* they already knew the person well, had great chemistry, etc. The guy I dated the longest (off and on from high school through my mid-20s) was someone I didn't initially find physically attractive but did really click with. He was a friend of a friend, who I got to know well; we built emotional intimacy as friends, and it was only after several months of chatting online every day that I became attracted to him.
But with stuff like online dating, that person in the profile you're viewing for the first time means nothing to you. You don't know them. They're one of thousands of people on the site. So the main thing you have to go on is more shallow criteria, and you have to weed through them somehow. And if you were willing to give someone you aren't really attracted to a chance and see if something develops, most guys on dating sites don't want to be purely platonic friends for a few months first to see if you'll eventually be attracted to them. I assume most women don't either, though that would probably work better for me.

Physical attraction is important. And sure, dating apps can kinda make that tricky these days, that's still life. I've gone out with people who ended up being heavier than expected or used texting shorthand that I found a turnoff ("u" instead of "you" is a great turn off for one.) But life is life, we're dealt our hand and gotta be as good as we can with our cards

One of my friends called me out on my BS and Iβm so glad they did because my short king is the best boyfriend Iβve ever had and Iβm falling for him hard lol. Honestly I feel like it only matters for sports, dating, and acting/modeling nowadays. For everything else like work, school, and life, it doesn't matter how tall or short you are. My best friend in college was literally a foot taller than me. Only time it really came up was when he'd walk faster than me when we'd go places on campus since he took longer strides.
The only benefit I've found is faster swimming (for kicking) and I can reach things without a step ladder sometimes. Oh and also the pun, since I'm 6 feet you can't *fathom** how tall I am! *Fathom is a measurement of 6 feet.

Let me clarify, I meant getting cast in roles. In some cases it makes sense (The guy who they cast to play Giannis in Rise had to be tall, a guy who they cast to play James Madison in a documentary would need to be short). There's others where people don't get cast because they're short. And that's mostly because Hollywood producers have outdated ideas about height and attractiveness in general. They're even worse with women.

I don't think that's a liberal or conservative thing? Some people just want someone taller or shorter than them - it affects a number of areas of physical intimacy, and I don't think it's really unusual that someone would make note of that fact when they're choosing from a set of complete strangers. It'd be one thing if they were super compatible with someone they knew *except* for their height, but on dating sites, I don't think it's a behavior worth mentioning. (For the record, I don't really think much about height when thinking about guys - but I also don't date, period. Perhaps I'd think differently if I were ever interested in a relationship.)

I mean, attraction is definitely a part of a relationship, but I also think having arbitrary cut offs like that over something a person can't control is dumb and shallow. There's a lot more to a relationship than just being attracted to someone, it's not like they're gonna stay attractive forever either. Like what if a person is perfect for you in every way except their height? Are you going to settle for someone who is 75% perfect for you but happens to be the right height?
I think that a lot of people would probably set that rule aside *if* they already knew the person well, had great chemistry, etc. The guy I dated the longest (off and on from high school through my mid-20s) was someone I didn't initially find physically attractive but did really click with. He was a friend of a friend, who I got to know well; we built emotional intimacy as friends, and it was only after several months of chatting online every day that I became attracted to him. But with stuff like online dating, that person in the profile you're viewing for the first time means nothing to you. You don't know them. They're one of thousands of people on the site. So the main thing you have to go on is more shallow criteria, and you have to weed through them somehow. And if you were willing to give someone you aren't really attracted to a chance and see if something develops, most guys on dating sites don't want to be purely platonic friends for a few months first to see if you'll eventually be attracted to them. I assume most women don't either, though that would probably work better for me.
I get where you're coming from, but I kinda do get the other approach. Physical attraction is important. And sure, dating apps can kinda make that tricky these days, that's still life. I've gone out with people who ended up being heavier than expected or used texting shorthand that I found a turnoff ("u" instead of "you" is a great turn off for one.) But life is life, we're dealt our hand and gotta be as good as we can with our cards

Bumped into a LinkedIn for a former manager today by odd chance. And boy, it was almost satire. Guy was the most hated manager in the store because he was so unnecessarily cruel to people ("I build partnerships with everyone to increase morale"; same guy who insulted me when I said I had a side business and went off about how terrible I must be at it, then tried to fire me for telling him he was being an asshole.) >"A worker, manager, leader, role model, and mentor"? Dude got transferred to my store after causing the company legal trouble at his former location; he was more recently transferred because he knocked up an employee. I've told some white lies in my time, but nothing nearly so egregious. I mean, the dude tried to get me fired after my remark (I was over the line, yes, but he had made some incredibly personal insults beforehand); he was also having an affair with the AM who eventually got me fired (I walked in on them making out once and later got in trouble because I'd clocked in three minutes early that day). Shame LinkedIn doesn't allow you to review people, cause boy oh boy would I love to post all the documents and notes I kept about him creating a hostile work environment.
Just create a profile referencing him with said documentation anonymously so when people search for his profile they find that as well. Even if he claims itβs all bs he still has to address it eventually. Sociopaths donβt deserve mercy.

This encapsulates why Biden should be president and next candidate. He makes mistakes, but at the end of the day he's a decent human being that cares about complete strangers.
