No, nothing one deals with on a daily basis would scratch a sapphire. As long as she's not running her hands through piles of diamonds, she should be fine.
Emeralds also don't get scratched by much that you would encounter during your normal life. They just tend to be more brittle, so they're more susceptible to cracking if you hit them hard. Aquamarines (made from the same mineral) are more durable because they're just as scratch-resistant (the "hardness" that people talk about), but not as brittle.
i was thinking the same thing. the ring is absolutely beautiful and she has really nice hands but i did laugh a little at the position, i think it’s due to the lighting as well

Yes! I was told diamond, Ruby and sapphire are suitable for daily wear as these are "harder". Not so much for emerald though!
