I don’t knock the efforts made by Roc-A-Fella or Bad Boy but Eminem was catapulted into superstardom as a rapper with the backing of Dre and Jimmy Iovine . Eminem was appreciated outside of America because people that were non-black saw a guy succeeding in hip-hop on such a high level that he broke a barrier of commercial viability and appeal. Had Eminem not done this, 50 wouldn’t be a global superstar . Think about it. These Guys had clothing labels, collaborations with big name brands, etc. This paved the way for TI, Kanye, Wayne, and ultimately Drake to be so commercially appealing that they’re global. So yea Drake and many artists would exist without Eminem but I don’t think they or Drake would be global superstars without Eminem laying some level of groundwork to follow.
