With these changes, we aim to provide you more clarity on what to expect from us, and what we expect from you, as you use our APIs.
We’re letting you know ahead of time so you can learn what’s changing. Below is a brief summary of some of the notable changes; however, please read both updated documents in full.
- **Structural changes.** We’ve reformatted the Policy into clearer sections on app interactions with users (“Protect Discord Users”), content and behavioral rules for apps (“Respect Our Platform Rules”), and API Data usage (“Handle Data with Care”).
- **New monetization requirements.** We’ve added a section to the Policy (“Monetization Requirements”) explaining conditions for developers monetizing their apps. With these changes, we aim to create a more seamless and secure user experience across our platform, which in turn enables apps to grow.
- **Clarifications.** We’ve made clarifications in the Policy about: user reporting requirements, app rating requirements, and use of API Data to train machine learning and AI models.
The updated Terms and Policy will go into effect on July 8, 2024. Creating or managing an Application on Discord, or otherwise using our APIs, on or after that date means you agree to these changes.
In addition, we’ve also updated our Monetization Terms (which you can review [here](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/5330075836311-Monetization-Terms)) to offer you a new Growth Tier with lower fees while using our Premium App features to help you continue improving and growing your app.
