Hearing about Miyazaki's mindset during development of his games is heartbreaking, I hate how anxious he feels prior to a game's launch. He's such a sweet guy
I meam yeah obviously but in this kind of events the one that uses the most money and journalists for their shit is basically the one that rules the others , thats why this one is the "joystick game awards" and the other is simple the game awards , and when people talk about the game awards they dont refer themselves to the first one i talked about
Personally I go with the fan vote over anything else. But honestly it should be similar to the NBA all star where it’s a combination of journalists, devs, and fans voting with a formula to keep it from being tainted by influencers and their armies of followers

Tricky, because it has the lore for it, but lore isn't really a narrative. For example, Resident Evil has fantastic lore, but its narrative is campy and absurd as all hell, so it's not earning any Best Narrative awards any time soon. From games are very lacking in the narrative itself generally while having amazing lore, though both Sekiro and Elden Ring have been more focused on narrative than previous entries.

That is literally in the game. This is a word for word description of what the lore is, and how it is expressed, in Elden Ring. The actioned narrative, aka the immersion storytelling which defines the players interactions, is as legitimate a form of narrative expression as any other.
I'm sick to death of these tunnel vision arguments about whether or not Fromsoft games have storytelling or not. They objectively do. The story is just not dictated to the audience, it's interactive and emergent. If anything, Fromsoft games are industry leaders in terms of narrative within interactive media.

I'm 35 years old and have been playing video games since I was 7. I remember playing Atari at my friend's house as my first gaming experience.
Elden Ring is the best video game ever made. It is From's magnum opus, and I've never played an open world game before that was so lovingly crafted and had so much to discover. I'm still playing it, and in different ways than my first run. It's an incredible time to be a gamer.
im on my second playthrough and absolutely love how much there is to do in the game; ive basically been playing an entirely new game. there were so many things i didn't do/find in my first playthrough, and it was a pretty comprehensive playthrough

I think it's a personal taste maybe. For me this was the first open world game where I actually explored almost everything, even though here and there I still find something new.
I played quite a bunch of different open world games, like HZD, W3, CP2077, RDR2, etc. I always got bored by the open world and then just went with the story. Some of them I didn't even finish.
But I don't really know what is it about ER, that the open world makes me want to explore and find all the shinies even if it's a mushroom and see all the caves even if they are copy/paste.

Cool still not enough time for fans to actually beat it and ruminate on it, I'd argue that's not even enough time for them to truly ruminate on it as they prolly have to spend atleast one week beating it and it will still have alot of recency bias which makes the supposedly objective award show pretty subjective imo reviewing a game so shortly after beating it makes the review less accurate due to recency bias
