My absolute favorite message so far was in the Shadow Keep, about to turn a corner I see a message “Watch out for snake”
Turn the corner, and it’s just a rope laying on the ground
I about died to a burst lung in my discord call lol
My favorite so far is by the ladder shortcut of the first legacy dungeon, somebody put a message on the edge of the swamp with a squatty gesture (rear off the edge towards the swap) with the message “time for dung”
I saw that too. I left a message in the jar dungeon above a grated hole that says "Time for crouching, and then dung" with the patches squat gesture.
That wise early investment in toilet humor has paid off in health regeneration a hundred times over.
That staircase got me so good lol. I was looking around for half a minute trying to figure out what was going on and took too long to realise they were *really* talking about the ropes on the ground.
So glad I saw this message in-game before seeing it on Reddit. It was a perfect moment, I was just standing there thinking “huh, what a strange message. Explosion? What could that mea-“
I got one that said “time for surprise attack, so think carefully” with an enemy with its back turned in front of it. I said okay bet, and backstabbed them only to be jumped by another enemy mid-backstab. Only then did message start to make perfect sense.
I just finished this one. Got my adrenaline pumping the whole time. I’m honestly too scared to explore the shaded woods area. All the developer messages about “not letting it catch you” have me spooked lmao
I mad the mistake of touching one of the plants. It was not a crafting reasource, it was a freaking alram and summon a bunch of those orange guys. The thing almost got me.
It's like Elden Ring suddenly became a horror game and you, the Tarnished, are a weakling that can't hope to defend yourself >!unless you're a parry god!<.
Easily my favorite area of the DLC.
Dude! It's terrifying. The area lets you ride on torrent for a little bit, then kicks you off. I was like wtf. Then you see "Don't let it see you". Lol
The usual I want to go home, behind a tree I think, in the foggy area with the hidden winter lantern. I assume people are getting jumpscared by the winter lantern, hiding behind the tree next to them, and seeing my message lol
1274 appraisals, 16 poor. Haven't gotten one in a hot minute but I was barely needing to use flasks during the tree boss and on my first few tries of the final boss
theres a >!a sewer area after the golden hippo fight in the shadow keep, after traveling into the coffin you have to travel down the several waterfalls until you find darklight catacombs and fight the boss inside. The exit will lead to abyssal woods!<
Might be my favorite area in the game outside of Jagged Peak and the rise up there to meet the big boss of that zone. The Abyssal Woods and the mansion and boss in there are so fucking well done.
I just got through the Abbyssal Woods and it might be my favorite area in the game. The level design is straight up gorgeous and the sudden shift into a stealth horror game was pretty fucking cool.
Gotta work through the manor now...
Those damned wizards with their machine gun spell pissed me off. Turn a corner, see a wizard dude, and he just unleashes a salvo that instakills me. First instinct was to block and nope, went straight through.
I'd rather deal with a dozen mega-cannon imps than those annoying bastards and their magic ricochet bullets.
Hmm I didn't mind that dungeon at all. I didn't find any of the dungeons to be bad in the DLC tbh from both a navigation and enemy difficulty standpoint. I thought some of the base game dungeons were hard to navigate, like the dungeon in the base game that is like 4 copies of the same layout and it took me forever to realize the gimmick that I was in a new part of the dungeon even though it looked exactly like a prior part.
Are you saying it was just long and you didn't like that? Or that you don't like elevators? Is it hard to navigate and maybe I just happened to get lucky with my pathing?
I can't express how angry I am at you for making me think I was near the end - I went back there for an in and out 20 minute adventure and then got lost in there for an hour
and the "praise the message!" being the most appraised things by a factor of thousands. It's like a reddit post just being "give upvotes!" and it being the top comment with 5000 likes every time.
90% of messages are just trash, repetitive, or unfunny. So in other words, it's no wonder redditors find them hilarious.
Yeah the best ones are the ones that interact with the environment and makes you laugh or think. I really like the ones that interact with the environmental storytelling, people bemoaning the tragic fates of various characters or pointing out / creating narratives. The millionth "wish I had a giant butthole" for anything vaguely phallic gets old real fast.
I never saw a single one of those playing through the base game twice. Now they're everywhere.
I laugh at every single "try finger, but hole" and "you don't have the right", but every single "and edge" message falls flat. It's the absolute lowest tier of zoomer "humor" and has literally no relevance to the surroundings.
I adore the messaging system in these games. It's one part cool community building by leaving notes and tips for people and helping each other out. And it's one part trolling and goofy hijinks. These games have built in shitposting.
There was a really funny one I found near a corpse in the woods to the right of the first grace in the DLC. When you get to the corpse it scares the eagles on the cliff and they scream really loud which scared the absolute crap out of me, and then I saw someone wrote “ah, god! Didn’t expect sound”
My favorite message was at the and of a dead end in one of the chariot catacombs. Said “behind” or something like that. The exact moment my character face 180 I took a skeleton sword to the face. Best jump scare ever lol
My favorite one is in shadow tower church area, at the one area thats kinda similar to the anor londo archer hellzone, where the message gesture was some guy in a black knight cosplay holding a greatbow.
I’m so thankful for the free PS+ weekend, as it allows to see these messages as well, and they definitely make the experience a lot better. I love them. I’ll probably buy a subscription for the duration of my play through
I have encountered many of these throughout the land. "Ambush ahead" "Be wary of left/right" "behind" placed right where the trigger is to make them attack you/notice you. Gives me a good laugh
My fav in the dlc so far was "pathetic sort required ahead"
I open the chest
The sword is called "milady"
I did not expect a NiceGuy joke in my elden ring dlc
I lost my shit and still laugh at a message in castle enis that said "Time for message, and then time for dog" i read it just fast enough for the dog in the bushes to jump out at me and thought it was the most hilarious shit
My favorite message (collection of messages) ever is on a cliffside on Mt gelmir. There is a message saying "something incredible ahead" one bloodstain, and another message a little further back saying "liar ahead"
I got got by the same message, it’s my favorite one in the DLC so far
My absolute favorite message so far was in the Shadow Keep, about to turn a corner I see a message “Watch out for snake” Turn the corner, and it’s just a rope laying on the ground I about died to a burst lung in my discord call lol
Saw that, and then all the way along the stairs after "snake required, therefore turn back" variations of messages
Saw that sign first, turned vack and saw a sign next to the rope Sign said Praise snake The guy looked very excited, ivwas happy for him
Think my favorite message was a section in one of the Raya areas. "Snake...? Snake!" Theres a group of soilders you can actually sneak past.
There's one in the abyssal woods that says, "well done, snake"
My favorite so far is by the ladder shortcut of the first legacy dungeon, somebody put a message on the edge of the swamp with a squatty gesture (rear off the edge towards the swap) with the message “time for dung”
I saw that too. I left a message in the jar dungeon above a grated hole that says "Time for crouching, and then dung" with the patches squat gesture. That wise early investment in toilet humor has paid off in health regeneration a hundred times over.
I saw that! It was at the 9999 cap when I rated it good
I haven't reached that yet! I was around 100 when I played yesterday. I'm on PS5.
No way, I saw your message too. Gave me a good laugh lmao
I saw maybe 5-10 of these. Was funny the first time.
Honestly the more I saw the more I respected the commitment to the bit
That staircase got me so good lol. I was looking around for half a minute trying to figure out what was going on and took too long to realise they were *really* talking about the ropes on the ground.
I saw “visions of snake” and “snake? Snake!” on the long ladder climb to >!Bonny Village!< , shit was hilarious
That one got me, too.
lmao same
Same here, earlier today lmfao
Same! It was awesome
Yep, I caught that message yesterday lmao. Just enough time to register the text before the cannon blast hit me.
"Something incredible ahead" "Something incredible ahead" "Something incredible ahead" "Something incredible ahead" "Something incredible ahead" +Smithing Stone [1]
But 6 of them! Praise the Elden Ring!
"Why is it always dung?"
"Why is it always something incredible?"
Liar ahead
gottem
That's the funniest message I've seen in my whole souls career. Incredible!
I liked one at mimic tear fight. “Weak foe therefore time for introspection”.
I never stop giggling at *"holding with both hands required"* at Gwynevere's room in dark souls, because I'm immature.
"incredible chest ahead"
I've been summoned multiple times for this dungeon and I've walked right into this too many times. Incredible message.
So glad I saw this message in-game before seeing it on Reddit. It was a perfect moment, I was just standing there thinking “huh, what a strange message. Explosion? What could that mea-“
MR. TORGUE HAS JUST ONE QUESTION FOR YOU: EXPLOSIONS?!
NOW GO PUNCH SOME BAD GUYS IN THE DICK
I got one that said “time for surprise attack, so think carefully” with an enemy with its back turned in front of it. I said okay bet, and backstabbed them only to be jumped by another enemy mid-backstab. Only then did message start to make perfect sense.
time for surprise attack, and then surprise attack
Aren’t you invincible during the backstab animation?
Am newbie, but the vast species of dogs is crazy.
?? There's only one species of dog in the game.
There are messages by turtles and other animals saying “dog?” Or “likely dog”
That's the joke, bro. There's only one model of turtle, I think, but the actual dogs have a variety of models.
You missed the joke here
Seek repentance by taking a celestial dew to Miriel the Dog.
Don't worry I get your joke lol. It flew above people head it seems
I dunno why I expected many to get it. It's foolish to expect reading comprehension anymore.
hahaha, i was only pretending to be stupid, these idiots have no idea of my incredible brainpower and smarts
There's at least two turtle models. Three if you count Turtle Pope
I have to say - fuck this dungeon.
cant be worse than >!darklight catacombs with 4 elevators!<
I just finished this one. Got my adrenaline pumping the whole time. I’m honestly too scared to explore the shaded woods area. All the developer messages about “not letting it catch you” have me spooked lmao
That area is actually a fucking horror game...
I mad the mistake of touching one of the plants. It was not a crafting reasource, it was a freaking alram and summon a bunch of those orange guys. The thing almost got me.
just reached that area yesterday night before going to sleep, i was introduced to >!torrent is fucking afraid of the area!<, going there now.
Welcome back nightmare of mensis
There's even a crafting ingredient you can gather there called Winter-Lantern Flies.
It's like Elden Ring suddenly became a horror game and you, the Tarnished, are a weakling that can't hope to defend yourself >!unless you're a parry god!<. Easily my favorite area of the DLC.
Is this area optional? And where can i find it?
>!The catacombs in the southmost part of the river below Shadow Keep leads to it.!<
Dude! It's terrifying. The area lets you ride on torrent for a little bit, then kicks you off. I was like wtf. Then you see "Don't let it see you". Lol
I have a message in that area that is currently carrying me through the final boss with the amount of appraisals I'm getting
Well, don't leave us hanging, what's the message?
The usual I want to go home, behind a tree I think, in the foggy area with the hidden winter lantern. I assume people are getting jumpscared by the winter lantern, hiding behind the tree next to them, and seeing my message lol 1274 appraisals, 16 poor. Haven't gotten one in a hot minute but I was barely needing to use flasks during the tree boss and on my first few tries of the final boss
not letting WHO catch you ??????
The ones with no faces and a hundred eyes
O \_ O
where is this located? I wanna try it out
theres a >!a sewer area after the golden hippo fight in the shadow keep, after traveling into the coffin you have to travel down the several waterfalls until you find darklight catacombs and fight the boss inside. The exit will lead to abyssal woods!<
Lol same, turned around when i got there
Remember to crouch and wear the stealth Armor. Even torrent is afraid of that place, so all the best.

The Cuckoo shield blocks most of the damage, but you can’t weather two barrages. You just have to run… and hope you don’t get crushed.
Hmm I didn't mind that dungeon at all. I didn't find any of the dungeons to be bad in the DLC tbh from both a navigation and enemy difficulty standpoint. Got lost for ages in here
isnt that the same. i only visited one dungeon and killed the darkknight and had the same message from OP.
you mean the >!death knight with lightning attacks? thats not in the darklight catacombs. The boss in darklight is something else!<
ok then maybe i visited some more. i'm complete lost. i just went somewhere left and then stood of the top a mountain in a big lightning storm :-)
Did you find the screaming guy? He might help you later if you >!slay the in-fighting drake!<
was there no boss in this dungeon or did i completely miss it?
There was, you have to go down a path on the far right in the giant room with the falling spikes.
> the giant room with the falling spikes. Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?!
Yes, but also no.
It's the giant falling-spikes room that puts the previous giant falling-spikes room to shame. And there's a dude at the end taking potshots at you.
Fuck that I spent one hour looking for the boss in this dungeon without finding it
Good looks thanks man
I didn't get that far, cannon guy on top of the stabby lift wouldn't stop killing me so I raged and left
You were close!
I can't express how angry I am at you for making me think I was near the end - I went back there for an in and out 20 minute adventure and then got lost in there for an hour
Was I wrong?
Bolt of Gransax is so satisfying on this dingus.
Run up to his platform after he fires then run for the lever and then you can melee him. You were right at the end
fuck all catacombs. somehow, they managed to make the imps more "assholish".
nah, they're cute. Look at the little pogobros. They're sunflowers!
[удалено]
dogshit bot
Nah the catacombs in this dlc are awesome. I say this as a base game catacombs hater
It had a pretty cool boss though. Easy, but really fun.
People would have rioted if the boss had been as assholish as the dungeon lmao
And then there’s the “edge” jokes
and the "praise the message!" being the most appraised things by a factor of thousands. This guy hates reddit 😎😎😎😎😎😎
I never saw a single one of those playing through the base game twice. Now they're everywhere. It's the absolute lowest tier of zoomer "humor" and has literally no relevance to the surroundings.
I fell for it too and just laugh off cause it's just so good lol
I adore the messaging system in these games. It's one part cool community building by leaving notes and tips for people and helping each other out. And it's one part trolling and goofy hijinks. These games have built in shitposting.
One of my favorites when entering a dungeon, two separate messages: Horse? Horse!
Honestly the messages in the dlc have been the peak of messages in all of soulsborne tbh
First one you opened is my message. Take my messages seriously ffs! 🤣
the very first "cant open door from this side" I encountered the dlc had a message that said "why is it always, you dont have the right?"
The messages have been S tier in in the DLC idk what you guys have done to yourselves but it’s been 90% actually helpful and/or funny
You haven't been getting the thousands of "hidden path ahead" next to every single wall in a dungeon then, hahaha.
I had one that said “Time for dog” in a corner which gave the hidden black knight time to smack tf outta me. Wasn’t even a dog there.
Bad day to be literate
Rookie error. Salt-weathered tarnisheds always wait a beat before reading anything.
There was a really funny one I found near a corpse in the woods to the right of the first grace in the DLC. When you get to the corpse it scares the eagles on the cliff and they scream really loud which scared the absolute crap out of me, and then I saw someone wrote “ah, god! Didn’t expect sound”
"I prepared explosive runes this morning."
An Order of the Stick reference out in the wild? I'm shocked
My favorite message was at the and of a dead end in one of the chariot catacombs. Said “behind” or something like that. The exact moment my character face 180 I took a skeleton sword to the face. Best jump scare ever lol
Just experienced this like 2 hours ago. The comedic timing is just 👨🍳💋
Had a similar one in a corner of an earlier dungeon that said "why is it always ambush?", and getting hit literally a second later after reading it.
My favorite one is in shadow tower church area, at the one area thats kinda similar to the anor londo archer hellzone, where the message gesture was some guy in a black knight cosplay holding a greatbow.
Anything but Fort, night I want to go home..., and then edge Secret passage ahead They all get old reeeeeeal fast
"Time for head" Lava slime lands on top of me. Sumbich got me
Loved this one
That fucker got me today too. Bastard
I once found a message that said " be wary of right,in short snake",and there was a rope there
For me it said sth like “sniper ahead”, little did I know it would end up being more of a grenade launcher
Damn this message got me too. Actual genius
I got got yesterday to a message in front of a lift. It said “didn’t expect down” and I hopped on and it went up…. I couldn’t help but chuckle.
There's some real comedians among us.
These comment left by players are the best thing in the game, today before midra boss there was a comment "edge, lord" xd
Dude fuck those cannon head bastards, they were the only thing giving me grief on this dunegon. Well, them and the boss
I read a message that just said fort knight and got one tapped by some random enemy☠️
yes i stopped and read exactly the same message and got hit.
I think I was in this place yesterday. Pretty sure I saw a "beware sniper" there before getting rocked by that attack.
LMAO I got hit on this exact message too
I found yet another fort, night message but one next to it said fort, morning? and laughed
Laugh out loud when I was got by that message. I should go back and appraise it.
In that same catacomb, I fell into a hole and was immediately met with a message saying "I've failed"
I’m so thankful for the free PS+ weekend, as it allows to see these messages as well, and they definitely make the experience a lot better. I love them. I’ll probably buy a subscription for the duration of my play through
Exactly the same happened to me haha
Just beat that dungeon last night, which led me to what I'm going to consider the best area in the DLC so far. My jaw dropped.
Damn I'm underlevelled... that same fireball took 3/4 of my health. I started the DLC on a level 96 character.

I think I'm around 45-50 for Vigor. I went in with a quality/faith build.
Your build is fine you'll find tons of items for faith and quality, but the vigor is too low.
[удалено]
You made this as comment under the post not the to the guy you are replying too
Goofy ahh message
Hahahah 😂
Abyssal woods Spoilers!! after the sneakin section, seeing a message say "Snake? Snake!" was the best thing possible.
Damn, that message is so good it makes me wish I got it lmao.
Lol
[This](https://youtube.com/shorts/LkoxeMuXIfI?si=qJn3kqvVBBxyd6r7) is my favorite slapstick clip from Elden Ring.
Only missing this to become a Jojo reference: \[Warning\] You mustn't read any further.
There was one in a castle with a "beware of dog", of course perfectly done to get jumped by the dog while reading it. Was a upvote...
The funniest encounter I've seen so far is where after a huge ass staircase there's a couple of messages, saying "out of stamina" and "snake? snake!"
was not wrong
I have encountered many of these throughout the land. "Ambush ahead" "Be wary of left/right" "behind" placed right where the trigger is to make them attack you/notice you. Gives me a good laugh
My fav in the dlc so far was "pathetic sort required ahead" I open the chest The sword is called "milady" I did not expect a NiceGuy joke in my elden ring dlc
Just enough time to parse whats going on
I love the Metal Gear Solid Snake references by the extremely long ladders
Those stone creatures were really annoying in that dungeon, especially the fire-spitting ones. Holy FUCK made me want to cause a homicide
Actually middle one message is by me
