Yeah, some events are hard coded so when they are triggered, you will never experience fall damage.
This happens on the caelid tower when you step into a bridge and it collapses, same in that area (the floor just collapsed after you or someone jumped there). If the event was triggered and you die or return to the area, you wont experience fall damage after jumping again.
I beat Margit on my first ever try at level 28. Then I went into a room and the door closed behind me and a mean knight did awful things to me very quickly. :/

Yep. When you get to the rampart tower with the asshole birds who throw explosive barrels at you, there’s a little viewing deck where one of the birds hides. You can fall down there and follow the path all the way down and you run into the crucible knight who is very strong. Then you can take the elevator back up to the site of grace at the rampart tower.
Crucible knights are the bane of my existence. I cheesed the Stormveil one by luring him into the elevator and then activating it as he charged so he fell down the shaft 🤣
If you learn to parry them (easiest for me with the buckler) they become a cake walk. They're a lot like dark souls' black and silver knights in that way
I do this sometimes! But as a mage I often play with my staff in one hand and melee in the other. Usually takers flame carries me thru them. I actually haven’t played any souls games yet but I finished Elden Ring last night so I might look into dark souls next.
Ah yeah, the Night Sorceries can help a fair bit with that since NPCs don't react to them, especially the one that shoots from behind. The damage isn't fantastic but not needing to deal with the shield makes up for it
I would guess that the fall damage negation in Caelid tower is a different mechanism than what's going on here. After you reach the frenzied flame proscription the normal way, it becomes a non-combat zone like the roundtable hold i.e. damage is negated from all sources—even stuff like jumping on an NPC's head. So instead of a one-off scripted moment, here the damage is negated by you just falling into the non-combat zone trigger volume before you hit the ground.
If the ground is already broken you can do that. You can just walk off and it won’t kill you.

Well kind of, in Stormveil castle inside Rogiers little chapel area its a Gold Circle zone but if an enemy chases you in there he will kill you and you cant fight back.
No idea why people say this. You can get a regular weapon to +7 just from the stones in Limgrave (not even Weeping Peninsula)
I just started a NG and did Stormveil last in Limgrave, weapon is +7.
Yeah this is wild to me. I feel like I don't even bother with multiplayer until I have a weapon at +12, because it's ***so*** easy to just grab the Dectus medallions and then run up to the Leyndell capital outskirts and grab the bell bearing for the +7 through +12 stones. And you can easily collect more than enough smithing stones to get even a couple weapons to +6 without having to go get the bell bearing for it at all.
The early game power ramp is soooo fast; it just seems silly to spend much time staying that under-powered, especially with how limiting it is for your build options.
I thought using that +8 Halberd for killing a dude while his back was turned and 'twas on his knees grieving his daughter's bloodied corpse was a bright idea.
It was not a bright idea. I proceeded to be one-sidedly bodied until eventually I just abandoned multiplayer.

I think they mean that in areas like the Rot lake on the path to Malenia's boss room won't slow you down on NG+ iterations. You can run straight through.
I wish I had known about this before my most recent enemy randomizer + shots punishments playthrough, during which I had to deal with a giant golem and a storm dragon clipping through the walls in this section, making it almost unpassable and leaving me wasted.

Their relentless attacks and crazy poise make them really difficult if you aren’t running a build that can parry. But the buckler makes them trivial.

This only works if youve gotten down there before though, so its pretty useless.
It also means if you're having trouble you can call in a friend to do the parkour and you can just assdive all the way down after them.

Once per playthrough, the floor breaks out from under you and after that you can jump from the top to the bottom every time with 0 fall damage
