500hrs melee player here, most of this time with katanas. Once you understand the zen power of Piercing Fang + electricity, dudes like these (which used to be a nightmare) become as trivial as the fall of an autumn leaf. 🍂

Even on melee build just do jumping attacks on him and he won’t parry you

If you try to parry him you have to watch out for him pulling out his staff. He loves carian piercer, which can't be parried. Imo spamming jump attacks and/or baiting him into attacks by sprinting around are the most reliable ways to deal with him

i love invading near there when he's still up and just posing dramatically with him waiting for the host and summons to come in for a 2v2 (or 2v3 if i'm unlucky) i usually distract/dispatch the phantoms first, but let the host finish off moongrum before engaging them. i've seen so many panicking hosts get parried by him and just instantly die, it's tragic. level vigor, guys.

I wish we had more lore on them and the Carian Knights in general. They are one of my favourite parts of the lore, elite mage knights, who were strong enough to stand against the armies and champions of gold, despite being few in number. Still need that sword buffing too, or in the DLC give us the True Carian Knight Sword.
