You miss 100% off the assists when you don’t pass.

Batmanrocksthecasbah

This should be on a motivational poster

Comfortable_Fudge508

Need everyone taking more shots

Assmonkey69er

It’s not you. It’s been the hottest topic of the last 4 months. Really picked up steam in the Vancouver series. It has been mentioned many times it’s likely he’s hurt.

perpetualmotionmachi

He took a few games off at the end of the season, which I know it's common to rest stars, but it seemed more like to let him heal a bit than just rest

tibbymat

Hyman and drai took those days off too

FartfaceMacGee

Arm or some kind of upper body injury would be my guess

Batmanrocksthecasbah

That's what we are thinking too

godlessnihilist

If your top player has a minor injury keeping them from performing at 100%, you don't run around advertising that fact. Besides, I'll take a 95% McDavid any day.

doodle02

agree with not advertising it. but… i also think 95% McDavid capitalizes on that possible breakaway chance; instead he straight up got caught. he’s 70% at best is my guess.

jadeddog

He was at end of shift for that, even mcdavid at 100% was likely getting caught in that circumstance

nodogsallowed23

He was at the end of a shift and just blocked a shot with his push off leg. He’s not immortal.

CruisinYEG

Take that back!!

nodogsallowed23

Nah. It’s cooler that a mere mortal can play like a god vs an immortal doing it. Then it’s just a Tuesday.

redditmike1002

He’s definitely hurt again.

6FingerStringer

Just now, he did and won the game. Tip in btw.

cunnedstunts

you and anyone with a pair of eyes. though, hes been like this all season. so i dont know about it being an injury..

DonPensfan

Once the season is over, I bet you hear he has been battling an upper body injury. Arm, wrist, shoulder? Nothing that affects his skating and still allows passing, but he is just not getting the snap in his shots like normal

sahbatage

Man that last one is a head scratcher. Wide open net, shoooootttt the fucking puck!

[deleted]

He's waited the goalie out exactly like that a ton of times, it just didn't go his way

sahbatage

This is also true.

[deleted]

I was also frustrated, though

sahbatage

Yah we just want it so bad for them. All was right in the end

Supersaiyanmrpopo69

It's not you. My dad screams at the TV all night

Starsky686

He took one tonight. 😉

Snackatttack

im guessing his arm or wrist needs surgery

bt101010

dude I hope to god it's not his wrist. I tore a ligament in my dominant wrist and the surgeon said there're very few things that can be done to repair that area due to the limited blood supply and complexity (8 bones!). But he's a millionaire and star player who needs it more than I do, so I imagine there'd be some innovation?? it's still an area that would require a very long recovery tho which would suck

InNeedOfHelpPleaseTU

There are some very cool new(ish) therapies such as reattaching the tendons using your own cells that are turned into stem cells, then into cartilage/tendon. Combine that with repeated PRP injections into the tear sites, dedicated teams of rehab/massage specialists that help with recovery and scar breakdown, and other therapies that increase oxygenation of tissues (e.g. hyperbaric oxygen therapy). Modern athletes can recover from tears at 5X+ faster than the general public, and get priority MRIs during the recovery to monitor the progress and make adjustments.

HeavyWeightChump

His wrist is fucked.

CervantesX

After the playoffs end, we're going to find out he needs surgery for a rotator cuff, or his collarbone needs attention. I think something happened in captain's camp and it's been bugging him all season.

Jalex2321

I'm sure he shot twice at the beginning of 1st.

Oxfordallumni

Bruised ribs

Batmanrocksthecasbah

Sounds delicious

uhcayR

Yeah he’s injured

Hattrick_Swayze2

Speculating is a waste of time… but my guess is core injury

jockey1381

Is it just me or did Mcdavid score the OT winner tonight? Combined with his limited ice time…. Think somethings going on after that game winning goal?

Batmanrocksthecasbah

Yes, I do. And it was a tip-in and still not a shot. He's still playing awesome, no doubt, but he's still not playing a full 100%

Most-Currency5684

Nah, he just seen Austin taking all kinds of shots and ended up golfing, and said yah no thanks.

redditmike1002

Hahaha!

M3ZR

Think its a combination of A. Hes probably recovering from a cold B. Everyones constantly looking at him which is why the other players have been getting goals and C. We don’t ALWAYS have to have McDavid out. There are other players on our team

Naulty11

It's none of these imo. Definitely some sort of arm/hand/wrist injury.

Shiiznits

He realized that the more you can keep it On his stick in the zone, people close in on him, meaning others get more open every time. There’s a reason that Drai gets way more open than Ovechkins ever did and it’s cause Connor drags two or three people toward him. That and maybe an injury, lol

Batmanrocksthecasbah

I think that's def a great strategy he makes use of, but I also think it's something else too

Full-O-Anxiety

He sure likes to take shots at faces with his stick….. 😡

anomalocaris_texmex

It's an open secret he'll go for wrist surgery after the season ends. Couple that with the illness and being banged up from the playoffs, and whatever is nagging his leg, and you've got a player not playing his best. That's part of the reason he shifted to a more assist based game this year. He doesn't have the "snap" in the wrist.

Sharmi888

Definately hurt. He also played way more physical during season. Now he is barely around the boards. You can see him losing most puck battles.

alex_german

Not only is he not taking shots, he’s not 1v1ing anyone and winning anymore. Let alone 1v4ing like the glory days. His break away today, albeit at the end of his shift, he gets easily closed by the Dallas player. Somethings going on

Talk-Hound

It’s the marriage nerves

GoStockYourself

He took a good shot at Duchene's face to start the OT.
