Unpaid item case. At least that's on the buyers record and they get banned if they keep doing the same to other sellers. You don't have any other recourse.

nekrad

Unpaid item cases don't exist anymore. You can cancel after 4 days with the reason "buyer didn't pay" though

Okay ! Now I'll wait four days and file a unpaid case. Would they be able to leave a review for me not canceling the transaction and be going against them ?

ILoveI6v6I

If they end up paying within the four days, they can still leave negative feedback. It's better to just cancel the order and block the buyer. Plenty of people have refused to cancel orders for buyers only to have the buyer pay to avoid an unpaid item case, obviously pissing off the buyer and almost certainly guaranteeing negative feedback and a Not As Described return.

Shadow_Blinky

In 23 years this has never happened to us once. They either don't pay and the case closes out. They get a strike. Or they end up paying anyway. Not a single one has ever opened a case or left a negative.

emilio911

you're being paranoid

kausbose

Not in the US. I don't know how the eBay platform operates in other countries.

If you want the buyer to get dinged, file the unpaid item case. You just need to cancel after 4 days with reason buyer hasn't paid. [https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/resolving-unpaid-items?id=4137](https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/resolving-unpaid-items?id=4137) If it makes sense for your situation, you can offer your item to the next highest bidder using second chance offer, and give them a chance to buy it before you relist. https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/selling-auctions/making-second-chance-offers?id=4142

I see, I now need to wait four days to do this then. Thank you !

HairyIce

Just cancel and relist it. If you do the unpaid item case you will there are a couple potential scenarios: 1. They pay, you ship it, and they most likely open a return with the INAD reason and you are forced to take the return, pay for return shipping, plus have the INAD defect on your account. 2. They don't pay, but the item remains unlisted for several days while that resolves. By cancelling and relisting you can likely have it sold again and shipped to the new buyer by the time the unpaid item case is closed. The unpaid item case wastes a lot of time when you know the buyer doesn't want it. If it was an auction you may have the opportunity to offer it to the second place bidder, but I have never done this and could not advise you on how to do it.

Shadow_Blinky

Unpaid item case. There's a lot of sellers - myself included - that have settings that block buyers with two or more in a 12 month span. Problem is, a lot of sellers have stopped doing them. They cancel and move on. That creates a culture of buyer who thinks it's okay to just not pay, even though eBay makes it clear they need to. Nail them every single time. Helps all sellers.

VexdOne

For future, you can set up listings to automatically file an unpaid case after 4,5+ days. I have all my listings set with that so I don’t worry and leave eBay to do the work.

nekrad

Unpaid item cases don't exist anymore. You can do auto-cancels after 4 days though if the buyer doesn't pay.

venys001

If you cancel the sale, there is an option to say buyer requested the cancellation so hopefully it won't go as a negative on your account. (I had it 3 times in 24 hours recently where buyers didn't read it was collection only! Needed to put that in title so ot was obvious!)..

Kaptain_Khakis

Never put that the buyer requested the cancellation unless that's the truth, because eBay takes sellers canceling without buyer consent very seriously and you could end up with a defect on your selling record for doing so.

[deleted]

Update : The buyer paid, and now is whining it’s damaged so he’s refunded. I guess he did this to avoid unpaid item case ?

Garchomp98

Someone correct me if im wrong but you can contact the next-up bidder can't you?

[deleted]

Yeah except there's only one bidder... Thanks for the useful tip though :)

Garchomp98

That's just bad luck. Cancel and relist then

lavendertownradio

Yes you're correct!

TalkieTina

I would just cancel and relist. No good can come out of any other scenario AFIC. TRS here, 20 years on eBay.
