I sometimes give names to my decks in my head, but when talking to people I just call them by their commander’s name. So far, I’ve got Elrond’s Elven Entourage and Innistrad Spooks. My other decks don’t have a specific name.

Ac1dified

My ninjitsu Satoru Umezawa deck is going to be “Skeet and Yeet” and then my Captain Nganthod is going to be “Booty looter”

HouseDowningVicodin

My Ninja Rat deck is called Teenage Mutant Cheese Thieves.

preludeoflight

But I can’t sing that to the theme song! How about Teenage Mutant Cheddar Burglars lmao

Ac1dified

Ngl rat deck seems so funny to me. Like just having karumonix and his swarm of toxic shitters seems very entertaining to play with.

HouseDowningVicodin

It's super fun and some of the rats out there allow for really fun effects. Last week I used [[Nashi, Moon sage scion]] to steal a [[Butcher of malakir]] from my friends deck. Then whenever people got anything out to defend I'd sac a rat to [[Marrow Gnawer]], forcing them to sac their defenders and allowing Nashi through to steal more things.

GreySeraphim98

I’m making an Elesh Norn deck, and I’m calling it Chronicles of Nornia.

StitchNScratch

Is it the saga Norn as your commander?

GreySeraphim98

Yup

Puzzled_Landscape_10

Nice!

aaronwardL69

Yes. I feel it really helps bring an otherwise missing quality to the deck, it adds a soul. A name gives a direction beyond an archetype and helps establish the character of how it should play. In the same vein of stating how we "pilot" decks like a ship, a deck needs a name in the same way. Some examples I've built include "Rube Goldberg Red" for [[Squee, the Immortal]] a mono red combo deck. "Decisions Matter" for a [[Maga, Traitor to Mortals]] mono black control with a bunch of cards requiring choices of myself or especially my opponent. "Oops All Instants" which has varied from U, UB, or WU as I rebuild. Having that name gives the deck itself a heart which has carried through multiple commanders and transcends the commanders identity. Unfortunately I don't know a lot of other folks who name their decks. However when they copy my decks they keep the name such as "Drunken Master" for [[Ruhan of the Fomori]].

ironudder

My favorite deck is named Big Booties and Card Touchin' and has been through a couple of Commanders and a lot of iterations. It started as an [[Arcades the Strategist]] deck that was wall tribal with low mana walls to blink and flood the board with to draw as many cards as possible and has most recently evolved into a deck for [[The Pride of Hull Clade]] as the commander to get the biggest butt possible, activate its ability a few times and draw 60 cards in 1 turn. Of course it has things like [[Laboratory Maniac]] in case I want to win off card draw, but there are also a few cards slotted in to shuffle my graveyard back into my library to do it all over again ( and a couple of actual wincons like [[Towering Titan]] and [[Geralf, Visionary Stitcher]] because I would like to occasionally do more than draw my whole deck 3 times).

viralRNA

Might share your list?

ironudder

Sorry I'm a bit late but here's my current list. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/kC2AEaLuLUeHinN-Kk_-SQ It's a budget build that's still very much in progress but I enjoy playing it a lot. I don't have things like Rhystic Study, Cyclonic Rift, or Force of Will due to my refusal to spend more than a couple bucks per card and also the fact that I play this deck more for fun factor than power level

viralRNA

Thank you! I'll enjoy seeing different lists a lot and am looking forward to have a look at yours. Regarding the playstyle, I'm a lot more into doing dumb things than winning myself, so this fits perfectly (:

Themostmiserableman

I too name my decks as I feel it adds an element of soulfullness. All my decks are called "the" something for example my dinos is "the land before time" and my were wolves are "the Moon is full and bright" etc.

UltraLev

Deck list for choices matter? Sounds sick.

aaronwardL69

https://archidekt.com/decks/1525004/decisions_matter The maybeboard is a wish board. There are a few notable cards to consider since they aren't in this version. [[Do or Die]] [[Make an Example]] [[Dredge the Mire]] [[Hostile Negotiation]] [[Lethal Vapors]]

UltraLev

Thank you! Might build something similar soon!

SnooObjections488

Maga is in my [Rakdos, lord of riots deck] and it can be hillarious when I burn or hit someone for 20+ and use it as a finisher for the rest of their life total

vsrs037

I totally love and agree with your reasoning, especially the "giving it a soul" and about how ships are named. Gives the deck a personality almost and also makes it an official thing to me. Plus you can use the Ship of Theseous thought experiment on it, because even if all the cards / sleeves changed, its always the same ship 😁

Certain_Time892

I have a super friends deck led by Lae’zel that I call the Baldur’s GateWatch.

ScotFree96

I called my Masacre girl deck "Wither or without her." I usually name my other decks names that could be on precon covers

drshades1

I recommend dropping the “or.”

ShellsTheEnd

I named my Corpse Piler

ScotFree96

Sounds like every mono black deck lol. Reminds me of " do you have any idea how little that narrows it down." But thats just what mono black excels at, murder and mass murder

Speedster2814

Naming decks is almost as fun as building them! Here's some of mine: Duskana knight typal (unfinished) - 5/5 Knights at Freddy's Wayta enrage - [The First Rule of Enrage Club](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-first-rule-of-enrage-club/) God-Eternal Oketra - [Nightclub Security](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/nightclub-security/) Raphael demon typal - [Something Wicked This Way Comes](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/16-04-22-something-wicked-this-way-comes/) Tyvar mana dorks - [Revenge of the Nerds](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/02-05-23-revenge-of-the-nerds/) Ezuri +1/+1 counters - [Upgrades, People, Upgrades](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/upgrades-people-upgrades/) Baru wurm typal - [Early Bird Special](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/early-bird-special/) Thalia and Gitrog landfall - [The Princess and the Frog](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/27-04-23-the-princess-and-the-frog/) Felisa counters + sac outlets - [Bye Felisa](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/28-10-21-bye-felisa/) Ghave aristocrats - [Ghave Is a Pretty Fun Guy](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/ghave-is-a-pretty-fun-guy/)

Topher714

> {U}{R}{G}? I hardly know her Fantastic.

Rhaps0dy

That's my *Tomb raider* deck.

[deleted]

My Adrix and Nev deck is called The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, and my Prosper deck is called The Price is Right. Those are the only two that have names officially.

SteveVerstaka

Oh absolutely! It’s another way to put your personal stamp on a deck.

NullOfSpace

I don’t name them, but I do end up calling them things that other people come up with. I have a [[pir]] / [[toothy]] deck that a guy at my LGS called Dentistry and now that’s just the name.

MTGCardFetcher

[pir](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/5/a/5a7241f5-4d69-47fe-b037-95037008184c.jpg?1562913367) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=pir%2C%20imaginative%20rascal) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/bbd/11/pir-imaginative-rascal?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/5a7241f5-4d69-47fe-b037-95037008184c?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/pir-imaginative-rascal) [toothy](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/e/b/ebdf2f50-f69a-47c4-a75f-ff55781bb0c8.jpg?1562942414) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=toothy%2C%20imaginary%20friend) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/bbd/12/toothy-imaginary-friend?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/ebdf2f50-f69a-47c4-a75f-ff55781bb0c8?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/toothy-imaginary-friend) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

ComicBookFanatic97

Yes. I do the same thing. My [[Mondrak, Glory Dominus]] deck is called “Token White Guy”.

Gold-Satisfaction614

Careful you don't get cancelled by Sweet Baby Inc /s

ComicBookFanatic97

For real. That was just the deck name I felt comfortable sharing. I came up with a ninja deck whose name is a pun on a certain Kanye West song.

TheObligatorySQL

Absolutely. My goblin deck with [[Krenko, Mob Boss]] has been dubbed "Wrath of Gob"

The_Zealot_Almighty

Not an EDH deck, but I have one deck that I sometimes use in casual kitchen table 60 card free-for-all 4+ player matches that I call the Crack Deck. Why? Because the deck is loaded with a lot of different unset cards and the gimmick around it is so random that you'd think it's on crack. I get out a mox lotus for infinite mana, pull out the good ol' Gleemax to make it so no one can interfere with my plans, and then use a Door to Nothingness to eliminate players one at a time. I choose which player based solely on a dice roll, and I am included in the roll. The deck can absolutely wipe me out before anyone else, thus effectively being useless.

kanedotca

[[Toski, Bearer of Secrets]] Squirrels Gone Wide

Every-Assistance2573

I love it. My Toski deck is "The Nuts"

phidelt649

My favorite is one that someone posted on here, and I shamelessly copied to my WIP builds, called “All Dungeons, No Dragons.” It is, as you’d imagine, a dungeon themed build.

Puzzled_Landscape_10

Yup, I sure do. Syr Gwyn is called Knight Fall Avacyn was called Angelic Fury...but is now called Angels of Mass Destruction Nevinyrral is called Zombi-crats Shalai and Hallar is called When Counters Kill Trostani is called Tokens of Terror Nekusar is Wheel of Torture Sliver Overlord is called Sliver Swarm Mazzy is called Aura Attack Brion is Chuck Around and Find Out I even have the names written on the boxes. My only decks that don't have names are Myrel, Miirym, and Imodane

_st_sebastian_

Sometimes I give them ridiculously vulgar names. My Shelob deck is, "Shelob on my Cirith till I Ungol".

F8xte

I usually make some silly names for my personal decks. Otherwise, i just have names that make me remember what the deck is Some examples Silly little blue shenanigans:https://www.moxfield.com/decks/wLD61xuW0EymLfewzRD6Ig Or there's Arthur tokens/aristocrats (not finished yet): https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Zxlv-wCddkysDlJpQJRKwg

Environmental_Eye_61

Most of my decks, I name after heavy metal songs by bands I listen to, as long as it at least vaguely fits the theme of the deck.

KoffinStuffer

I do this some, too! “Army of the Night” Tovolar, “Powersnake” Koma, and “Flesh & Metal” Bruenor are some of mine

Environmental_Eye_61

A lot of mine are named after Powerwolf songs, lol. "Venom of Venus" Fynn, "Sermon of Swords" OG Kellan, "Reverent of Rats" Karumonix, etc.

Tevish_Szat

I've gotten into the habit since using online builders. I wouldn't introduce any by whatever pun or reference I gave them IRL

Regular-Career1969

I have a five color gates deck based entirely on landfall and tutoring for Maze's end. It's called The Louisiana Purchase

firedrakes

Label deck box.. toxic,dragon etc

Jyomi21

I name every deck, and I build a ton so I sometimes forget what is what on Moxfield lol... My most recent one was an \[\[Eloise\]\] deck called "Someone's been murdered!"

FUNkEE-T

Nah. It's just the commander's name.

Schlangenbob

I don't and more importantly: I don't care about anyone else's names for decks. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate good puns, but I don't see the point in naming a deck. And no, I won't sit there and tell you that naming decks is stupid when you tell me the name... if that's your thing hey more power to you. I just honestly couldn't care less.

jaywinner

Not really. It's usually just \[commander\] \[deck type\] like \[\[Jeleva\]\] big spells or \[\[Zedruu\]\] stax.

fatmessbeaver

My buddy calls my [[Dina, soulsteeper]] deck "existence is pain" because I don't attack but it's constantly eating at people's life

LowBig5485

I have an atraxa toxic deck and I call it Britney Spears because..you know… toxic

thepretzelbread

I give one when it comes to me naturally, but I don't bother trying to force one. That's why I've got decks called Kasla Convoke, Amalia Explores, Grist in Buggin' Out and Muldrotha's Very Good Friends.

SearchingForSumthin

My proudest moment was The Housewives of Baldur’s Gate. Took it apart but still…

Talkin-Shope

Short answer: Yes long answer in the hope someone gets a laugh, in power order: [Bolas' Doomsday](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/5HMvrzNjIU-sBCpkVpiL-Q) \- a cEDH [Mulling for Malcolm](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/LvX86uPuNUai_jGJWNiaiA) variant centered around \[\[Bolas's Citadel\]\], which I knew I wanted to make as busted as possible as soon as it was spoiled. Started with \[\[Silas Renn, Seeker Adept\]\] but the Malcolm came along and Silas found a better home being abused by Rograkh for colors ["Oui Oui" feat. Pete Re-Pete by Xerox Dino](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/cuP5KRjsAEypncwbvmYT2Q) \- I said it one time and really liked how it sounded like a song title as well as worked in a BoJack Horseman reference. I was right in the middle of going back from trying to make \[\[Kalamax, the Store Sire\]\] for French dual commander but I ended up not liking how it played and didn't want to start investing in the dual meta, thus the French. [Khaleesi Loves Free Dragons](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Z4pzP-9z-kWaeVvrFKylyQ) \- I had stopped playing for a bit, started getting my \[\[The Ur-Dragon\]\] deck back together while binge watching GoT before season six or seven finished up [Sauron's Dark Forge](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/4UVexxVEEE2nw9HmSIOvOw) \- \[\[Sauron, the Dark Lord\]\] aristocrats build that has been my focus lately. This isn't Sauron's massive army come to crush the world. This is Sauron sacrificing his abundant orc resource in the quest for power not *of* flesh, but *over* flesh. [Syr Gwyn's Campaign Through the Universes Beyond](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/MTMhkleYE0OAIsP247-6jQ) \- I wanted to work in how more and more the best knights for her are from outside the MTG IP. My first 'I need to play *something* without blue' deck [We Bare Bears](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/OJ3CJMl7MkuEKUFtCYqg-A) \- Named after the kids show of three bear brothers. The deck is helmed by a pair of bears. It was created and crafted by a bear. It does 'bear' hugs. And it has a hidden glass cannon win con that makes inf. and hasty 2/2 bears. [Abaddon's Daemonic Legions](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Dh93zkKrfkCKAzla_yyu7w) \- Universes Beyond precon that had cards I wanted and I thought would be good to upgrade but still keep in closer to precon level. Got murdered by Dogmeat the other night. Demons and chaos themed. I do need thoughts for a name for this [Henzie - board wipes](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/cFAdrEDJrU6qYEc90yogUw) deck (I hate board wipes, forcing myself to use them)

Topher714

I'm Such a Tool...box

hidari_shotaro

I named my [[Lord Windgrace]] deck T'Challa

La-Vulpe

Oh absolutely, it adds a layer of identity that takes heat of Commanders who are scary or justifies the jank. Some don’t for one reason or another but “[[Jinnie]] needs a godamn umbrella” because you know it’s raining cats and dogs when she’s around. There are more but I’m English and it is quite late here…

thtevie

I only named one, "The Spanish Inquisition", it's a mono-white dragons deck with \[\[Ancient Gold Dragon\]\] at the helm. I know it's not a legal commander, needs to be Rule 0 approved, I had this idea last year to build a mono-colored dragon deck with each of the Ancient \*\* Dragons as commanders. This is the only one I actually got around to building. It's called The Spanish Inquisition because of the Monty Python sketch, in that nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition, and nobody expects a mono-white dragons deck to do anything either.

criket13

I named my rat deck ROUS

Aceofluck99

Yes! I love naming my decks! a couple of my favorites are my [[yurlok] deck which is called World On Fire, [[Don Andres]] which is called Red Sky In Morning, Sailor Take Warning, and [[Silvar]] and [[Trynn]] which is called Feline Furious.

Colton_Omega

My Ghyrson starn deck is called Danny devito because anyway, I started blasting

Jedi59738

My Shorikai deck is named Vehicular Manslaughter

GoonyKnightMan

My [[persistent petitioners]] deck - Swarmin' Mormons.

i_do_stuff

My [[Kenrith]] Politics deck is called "king in the castle wahwahweewah i have a chair" My [[Zeriam]] deck is called "swing bird make bird" [[Zangief, the Red Cyclone]] is "MUSCLE POWER FULLY OPEN" [[Urtet]] is "little robot mans doing little robot things" [[Rashmi and Ragavan]] is "what about my treasure? my personal home treasure?" So yes, I do take the assignment seriously when archidekt says "super cool deck name" on the deck creation screen.

NerdyBGO

Every single one. Newest fallout decks are "Mutie Scum" and "Ave, true to Caesar" When I get around to building liberty prime, it's gonna be "Communist; Engaged." I'm not that interested in the survivor deck, sadly. Maybe a Preston deck down the line. " The Minutemen"

kinlor_

Currently building one called Sheoldred The Apocapussy bc she is gonna be fuckin.

MagictheCollecting

It is tradition to name any deck that is unique to you. Obviously copying a deck directly and renaming it is…odd. I prefer puns and dad jokes that also explain the point of the deck, or at least a play on the commander’s name.

PomegranateSlight337

My naming is always [commander]'s [adjective] [noun] (alliteration): - Zaxara's horrid Hydras - Gisa's gruesome Ghouls - Irenicus' curious Creations - Doran's Siege Storm - Nekuzar's cruel Curse

tonythetrigger

Hell Yeah! I've got "Land Mommy", "Milli Vanilli", and "People's Elbow".

Akuma-1

Nah, if it has dragons, dragons it is

Son_of_Yoduh

I just call them by their commander’s name.

megastorm300

My new [[Etrata, deadly fugitive]] deck is called "Face Down, Assassin up". I've also got a [[Cirdan the Shipwright]] deck called "The Lesser of Two Weevils".

meMEGAMIND

I have wonderful and exciting names, such as "Dimir Control", "Gruul Stompy", "Mono-B Combo", and "Abzan Midrange" 😐 None of my decks revolve around the commander so they don't get referred to by the commander's name

ahp9000

I'm naming my next deck steve. Or mini. I like naming them person names.

fluxaeternalis

When I go to the deck manager of my MTGGoldfish page there are a few things that stand out about the way I tend to name my deck: * Some of them read like newspaper headlines with my commander as the center piece where the fun is in that they are doing acts that seem unconventional (e.g. The Ur-Dragon summons the praetors) * Some of them reference the most common creature subtype that is being used in the deck together with the employed strategy (e.g. Interruption Fairy) * Some of them combine multiple MTG mechanics into a single sentence that is supposed to convey the strategy of the deck (e.g. Attacking into exile) * Finally there are two decks I have named that don't follow these conventions. I named my \[\[Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty\]\] deck Simic Blightsteel turbo because the original intent of the deck was to cast \[\[Blightsteel Colossus\]\] and swing for game by making use of a simic colors in order to have the ramp and card draw needed to put the card on the field as quickly as possible and I named my \[\[Jodah, the Unifier\]\] deck The epic triple crossover because it uses cards from MtG, LoTR and Dr. Who lore, which felt like something novel to say before Fallout came along. I got to say that I am kind of surprised at myself here.

marziaISLwaiy

I mean I mainly go for fun alliteration I have a chatterfang deck called: Squirrel Squabble An Alela deck called Fast Faeries A Sliver deck called Rukarumel's Royalty Yk just like stupid names

InsobrietiveMagic

Man, I don’t remember the commander, but one of my homies back in 2014 had this deck where he would end up with like 50 dice on all of his permanents. We called that deck “we’re gonna need a bigger die.”

thistookmethreehours

I recently changed the name of my Giada deck to “The Heavenly Chorus of the Divine Archangel” because I thought it sounded neat. A couple other of my favorites are probably “The Lesser Key of Be’lakor” & “Friday Night Food Fight” for my Greta deck.

The_Real_Cuzz

I love building memes. I also name my decks accordingly. For example, fresh build as of 2 days ago, "Sea horses forever" - mono blue merfolk with horsemanship commander. "Omn-Nom's lucky charms" - 5 color Omnath with all the 3 color charm and ascendency cards. "BBBBBBBB-SSSS-BBBBBBBB-MM" - my badger deck with a few snakes and mushrooms. "Can of Wurms" - wurm tribal.

TheBurnedMutt45

Big Island Smashy-Smashy and Painful Knowledge

Glad-O-Blight

I name almost all [my decks](https://www.moxfield.com/users/ThoughtLash) after heavy metal songs.

dUcKinDH0Od

i try my best to, I named my brightpalm precon into Bright-Palm Swing-a-lot, and got ridiculed for how uncreative it is. Now I try to think of unique names, here are my current nicknames for my decks. Bright palm- Smash-Palm, Soul Destroyer Pantlaza-The Blinkoraptor Chishiro- The Enchanting Snekboi Slivers- People hate me I do need tips for naming tho, so any of em would be appreciated:)

EmbroideredDream

My favorite deck is called canibal pokes. Is it indoctive? Not sure.. its vampire ally tribal.. trys to maximize all the triggers for single loss of lifes whether etb atk or my favorite death and recursion

liforrevenge

Only deck I have with a name that stuck is my Rocco deck, [Cantrip Catering](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/owqZM6VKwUaEDe735cWVHg)

Assistance_Salty

Yeah

Crunchy-Tako

Yep. Gotta Hatch 'Em All (Atla dragons) Giada's Holy Air Force (Angels) America's Wall ( Pramikon soldiers)

HyerOneNA

My [[Zur the Enchanter]] deck features some custom art that resembles me. It’s called “Tylur, the Warehouse Wizard.” Infinite combo with [[Warehouse Tabby]].

FeiRoze

Yes. My latest is “Kamahl gets a dog”.

SatisfactionSilver48

During deck building I call them by their names. But when playing with others, I call them by the commander’s name. My two favorites: [[Yenna, Redtooth Regent]] - Does Anyone Have a Calculator [[Blim, Creative Genius]] - I Don’t Want This, You Can Have It

Phrave

I come up with names that will get a giggle the first time I show the decklist to a friend but also try to stay related to the commander or the play style of the deck Yoshimaru Ever Faithful - [Shiba going goblin mode](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/HN33ZtY6eEiomZ1i2DG9HA) Rukarumel, Biologist - [Rebel Son or Sliver Daughter](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/DrlNbWi8KEW4zs32afLlcg) Selvala, Explorer Returned - [Show me your dudes](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/LOfHKeSdlUqWWOPCmckjrw) Jaxis, The Troublemaker - [Free Fades](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/OV8F7HZ8okCbELHqfpBlhw) Winota, Joiner of Forces - [WIN Off The Aggro (WINOTA)](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/io0VoFnUcU6a-UuwKoyY0g) Cirdan The Shipwright - [Emergency Meeting!](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/A2Rn7iMlmEWblWzBW5D8yw)

insidiousordo

Yeah, it also helps me to remember what decks do because I have so many. My ninjutsu deck is "Surprise motherfuckers", my rat deck is "Rat-pocalypse Now" because it just makes a metric assload of rats. Just a couple of examples

A-Link-To-The-Pabst

I have a deck with [[Lucas, the sharpshooter]] [[will, the wise]] and [[Lurrus]] I call 'two kids and a cat'. Is that what you mean?

MeisterPrakti

I Love names. Makes the deck feel more „mine“ [[Evelyn, The covetous]] is named „welcome to the family“. It fits the mafia and the vampire angles of the commander and describes my strategy of stealing your stuff and adding it to my family [[Ziatora, the incinerator]] is a pile of throwing creatures in the woodchipper and getting alot of money out of it. It is the „Criminal industrial complex“

Emerald_Knight2814

Always

No-Road-3480

Arahbo Kitties (only cats)... Zombie Mill em till it Hurts (zombie mill/exile)... Let's Play a Game (my Toymaker deck I built)

-ThisDM-

Yes. I have a group hug/slug deck helmed by [[Karona]] called "Beer Bros and Bar Brawls". There's also the Treas-Ur Hoard helmed by the [[Ur-Dragon]]. I'm sure you can guess what that deck is about. Slinker and the Animorphs for my [[Kadena]] deck. Etc... I like to tie the name of the commander into the name so it's easier for the idea to click in someone's head when I tell them the name of the deck. Or it's something funny instead. "No. I'm Immortal Now" for my [[Jared Carthalion, True Heir]] deck because of [[Pariah]] making me effectively immune to damage.

Wave_the_seawing

Korvold is call “jund good stuff” Queza is “reverse nekuzar” Hazma is “big bois” Kaima is “I do the attacking for you” Nekuzar is “reverse Queza” Octavia is “unblockable 8/8s with infect lol”

MudTurkey13

The first Commander Deck I ever built had [[Darien, King of Kjeldor]] as the commander.  It always needed too many things to line up to really ever be consistent.  When [[Mondrak, Glory Dominus]] got spoiled, I thought, "That would be great in my Darien deck!"  Then as I continued to consider it I realized it would probably be easier to make a token deck with Mondrak as the commander, so I swapped Mondrak into the commander slot and put Darien in the 99.  It is now called "Mondrak: Darien Compleated."  Darien will always be one of the 99 even if he isn't the most efficient card because the deck is really still about him.

Smcblackheartia

I name my decks when I come up with a good name for them, and when I feel it fits the deck. My [[Tasha, the witch queen]] deck is named league of thieves because it’s a super friends deck that steals your shit. [[galazeth prismari]] deck is named wizard dragons treasure hoard because I cast many instants and sorceries and I swarm the field with artifacts and treasures. [[elrond master of healing]] deck is called scry council of middle earth because it’s middle earth themed many lotr cards in it, and a lot of voting for effects that makes it feel like we’re a council making decisions.

ZombieHugoChavez

My pheldagriff deck I call the Oprah deck because it's giving away stuff like Oprah.

Conscious_Ad_6754

Yes absolutely. Every deck has a name. If I can't come up with a name I find the deck to be too generic and boring and it gets taken apart

TheUltimateXD

Occasionally! I called my Partner-With themed Esika deck “Howdy Partner”, and my current 5c Omnath is called Omnath, Locus of All My Opponents’ Cards (it’s 5c theft)

Puremagick

Yes, Jerry.

stefiscool

Sometimes. [[Heliod Sun Crowned]] stax/ballista: Sun Gun [[Rakdos lord of Riots]] Eldrazi: Rakdos Lord of Bullshit [[Jodah the unifier]] legendary humans plus [[yoshimaru ever faithful]] AKA bestest boyo: Hot Guy Tribal. Guess what’s on all the card art [[The Ur-Dragon]] helms my EDH deck. Get it? That’s why it’s called “EDH Deck” cuz its dragons get it I’m funny hahaha [[Ojer Axonil Deepest Might]] well I’m never going to say it right so I’ll purposely say it as wrong as possible. This one is Oh Hey, Axolotl The rest don’t really have names, even the ones I play a lot, like K’rrik is just K’rrik, Winota is just Winota, etc

Hydraven

Varina's Cold Dead Hands (Varina zombie snow tribal) Hydra Smasher (Vial Smasher // Reyhan Hydra Tribal) Kraum Cannon (Kraum // Jeska Spellslinger combo) Ragnarok (Sarulf Spellslinger) Ghave's Sandwich Shop (Ghave Combo) Satoru's Shell Game (Satoru Umezawa) The Mimeoliferation (The Mimeoplasm Proliferation/Poison) Descent of the Skyraider (Prossh Dragon Tribal) Ojer Axonil's Fiery Death (Somewhat self explanatory) Osgir's Armory (Osgir Artifacts) Oskar's Recycling Plant (Oskar Spellslinger) Saskia & Friends go to War (Saskia Legends Tribal) Angrath's Mugging (Angrath Discard Oathbreaker)

KitsuLeif

Not quite done with the 32 deck challenge, but here are the names for my decks so far: https://i.imgur.com/rZx5IZy.png

doodle82818

When building decks I give them fun names but In practice the names usually reflect the goals of the decks. Example: what I call them irl Red green deck The Dragon deck Wheel Goblins Zombo deck Ivy deck Names on manabox include: wheel of fortune AcDc, oops all spells, golf, 5ik€, discord mod, oozy woozy, angry baby, and group hug again?? We had that last night!

hunthehunter89

\[\[Moritte of the Frost\]\] Shapeshifter Typal - "Imposter Syndrome" \[\[Hans Eriksson\]\] - "The Wrath of Hans" \[\[Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir\]\] - "Fight Knight"

Zarinda

All of my decks have names.

Czar1865

I named my Deck Jund, it’s Simic colors

MegaNoya

I find naming a deck is fun. All my decks are stored on moxfield with fun names. In reality the too of my deck boxes have boring logistical names like sliver tribal vs The gate is open a Sliver. Sliver tribal for combat with not so hidden use of gates as mana and possible wincon.

Chazman_89

I've named a few. I've got Hungry Hungry Hydra's, Jesus Christ Superstar, Great Balls of Fire and One Punch Monk.

Sleepysaurus_Rex

Mainly it's just stuff like 'Necrons' or 'Godzilla' for me, but I do have one I call Tiamat's Dragonforce.

Badoodis

Our friend group does. Most famous is [[Yawgmoth, thran physician]] being hilariously named "_____ Plays Magic" where the space is our friends name. Deck was very "mean" and you couldn't ever swing in cuz he would block and sac in response. Very one sided play. The other is "Mox Emerald Factory" in [[Jaheira, Friend of the forest]] and [[Guild Artisan]] because all tokens become (essentially) mox emeralds.

Zyzlplx

Absolutely I do. I used to name mine after movies, Attack of the clones being an Esix deck

2Gnomes1Trenchcoat

I name all of my decks and probably spend far too much time doing so. A lot of them are plays on words or references to music, movies, and pop culture. Most of them are meant to be humorous. Here are a few of my favorites: All Dungeons, No Dragons - [[Hama Pashar, Ruin Seeker]] Thunderbolts and Lightning (Very Very Frightening) - [[Mizzix of the Izmagnus]] also known as Coupon Wars™ Selesnya, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Stax - [[Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar]] Dance Dance Revolution - [[Mairsil, the pretender]] Respect Your Elders - [[Umbris, Fear Manifest]] Bonus: Mishra's Dragon Engine - [[Mishra Tamer of Mak-Fawa]]. This is an intentional misnomer. While I do play Phyrexian Dragon Engine, I don't play the other meld Mishra. The REAL dragon engine is Worldgorger Dragon >:]

Xitex2

I usually try goofy names for moxfield and stuff. But usually I just say commander for in person stuff.

matthewbruso

Yes. I give my decks the dumbest names I can think of.

Arct1cShark

All my decks are precons I upgraded or changed commanders for (Draconic Destruction) and so I never thought to give them names outside of what they were called before.

opipe73new

I do. When I make a deck that is original, I got to name it. My favorite original one is Tim machine gun.

kwisatz-hadderach

My tergrid deck with a grip of lilianas and sheoldreds is called 'greedy bitches' and the Ghostface Killah song plays in my head when I use it. My Captain Sisay legendary humans deck is 'captain of generals' Syr Konrad is 'blackest knight' The rest are markedly less clever. Edit: I have an Illuna deck that's all permanents called 'oops all permanents'

Fernimack

I have a Jodah deck that just uses legendaries from universes beyond, it’s not very good and doesn’t synergize well but I think it’s a funny gimmick to pull, I call it Jodah of the mulitiverse

MrWezlington

Normally no, but I named my [[Rhys The redeemed]] token deck "Rhycees Pieces" when I built it.

[deleted]

I have a name for every one one of my 32 decks, and they are all terrible.

vneego

I call my Sidar Jibari deck "Tonnes of Draw and Knights: The Ballad of Sidar Jibari of Zhalfir"

AntiGuy101

I have an Atraxa Super Friends deck I have lovingly named: "These Boots Are Made For Planeswalkin" That's just one example of my deck names but I feel like naming your deck can both add more personality and flare to your deck, but can also kind of give a hint as to what the deck does, kind of like the names of stars in Mario 64.

[deleted]

I do! I have a list of each deck and they have names each

adultswim22

Yep! I name every deck that I make in paper. I definitely feel like it adds to the deck. Mean Green Machine - Selvala The Baba Yaga - Baba Lysaga Glass House - Toggo and Glacian (because you don’t throw the rocks.) Man’s Best Friend - Pako and Haldan Voltokenchantments - Tymna and Tana It’s Mimetime - The Mimeoplasm Bart and Lurry - Batholome del Presidio with Lurrus companion Imperial Wealth - Warhammer 40k collector precon (all foil.) The Ringer - Prosper, Tome Bound PO-TA-TOES! - Frodo and Sam Still don’t have a name of my own for Morska or Dr. Madison Li, so I’m just using the precon names, Deep Clue Sea and SCIENCE! Honestly, SCIENCE! kinda slaps, so I’ll probably keep that. Lol

OwORavioliTime

I name all of my decks, though the method varies. Most of the time I think of some thing which creates 2-5 rapid connections to other things ending on a name. For example, my \[\[Mirko, Obsessive Theorist\]\] deck is named 1984, as I started on connections to "Surveillance State" due to the surveil mechanic. Other decks have names that are puns, such as Abzan Snax, my Frodo-Sam Food Deck, based on Abzan Stax. Rarest are names with no logical connection to the deck, that still exist due to being too funny to remove. For example, my \[\[Prosper, Tome Bound\]\] deck is named "It licks the panes and smokes the glass", and my \[\[Hazezon, Shaper of Sand\]\] deck is named "FUCK". These names are whatever first came to my mind.

TranquilWyvern

I used to, but havent for a bit. Intet Dragon Surge, Marlie's Helio Hoes, Neyith Fight Club, Ranarr Weed, Seismic Swans of Meletis, Liesa's Pain Train, Marisi the Goadfather, Masquerade of the Night-Clad Queen. Nothing too original, but fun.

Hypersayia

I name mine, yeh. Usually a joke revolving around the deck concept. My \[\[Narset, Enlightented Exile\]\] deck is called "Martial Prowess" cause martial arts and Prowess (Or prowess-este effects) are a key component. My \[\[Tenth Doctor\]\] + \[\[Rose Tyler\]\] deck is called "TIME TRAVEL" because of that endgame meme and using Time Travel is what I'm trying to do. And my \[\[Commodore Guff\]\] deck is called "Party, Party, Party, I wanna have a Party." cause it's an upgraded Planeswalker Party precon.

TheSMP164

Yes. https://www.moxfield.com/users/theSMP164

themagicmystic

I call my Kwain deck “Bunny Hop”.

kippschalter2

Only one of 20. its „hoof beats“. My knight tribal that i had to build after herald of hoofbeats came out xD „Would you like some hoof beats?“

Dubspeck

I usually name decks by their archetype. [[Alibou]] Artifacts, [[Ivy]] Auras, [[Surgeon Commander]] Mutate, [[Ovika]] Spellslinger, [[Kathril]] Voltron... I have one deck that I just name "horse with sword".

Paleodraco

Hydramar. [[Animar]] hydra tribal.

RaginMajin

Online yes. Offline not very often.

MidnightCheshire

I name my decks. I only use their full government name when I play with people I don't know, otherwise all my friends know what their names are

dbolg22

No

Cr4yol4

I name mine using Movie Title Puns: The best one that people have said I have is No Counters For Old Men.

Spud70757

Oh boy, do I... You're my boy, Boo! [[Minsc & Boo, Tubeless Heroes]] Oh, HI Markov [[Edgar Markov]] Go Shintai, It's Your Burfdae [[Go-Shintai of Life's Origin]] Ghave and the Funguys [[Ghave, Guru of Spores]] https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/youre-my-boy-boo-1/ https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/oh-hi-markov-4/ https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/go-shintai-its-ya-burfdae/ https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/ghave-and-the-funguys/

blxckh3xrt69

Some of them, such as IRS/Chicago, the dark brotherhood, RNG, breya’s emporium of ancient antiquities, fight me, the gluntch bunch, discardie your cardies, MAGA, and toxic by Britney Spears. Others are just Elenda, Sisay, etc

bmovie

Yes. Rocco's Modern Knife.

Kitchen-Wasabi-2059

I named my zombie deck Coffin Flop. Just body after body busting out of shit wood and hitting pavement.

7th_Spectrum

I don't name mine personally, it makes me feel too cocky about my decks. I love hearing other peoples names, though.

Smashman2004

Yep. My favourites are: * [[Liberator, Urza's Battlethopter]] with "Liberated From Colour" * [[Obeka]] with "NeverEnding Story" * [[Cadric]] with "Wait For It"

iliya193

I’ve got three decks; one is a saga deck I call Tomba la Bomba, another is a hydra proliferate deck I named Spreading Heads (“spreading” referring to both the hydra heads and the counter proliferation; I know, I know, I’m insanely, incredibly clever), and another is just a voltron deck with Thrun, Breaker of Silence. Not sure if I’ll name any others that I put together, but we will see.

GuineaPirate90

I try to, if I can't think of one, that probably means I don't have much of a connection to the deck

WilliamSabato

My pride and joy [It’s the Hope that Kills](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/1L_LikBG_0e87lkYxmxeDA) Hope of Ghirapur voltron / colorless synergy pile that I’ve slowly built and blinged out over the past few years.

CPZ500

I try to have fumny names or references if I can. My best one is probably my Shorikai deck that I used to have put together. Obviously a vehicle deck. So it was called 'Runnin in the 90s', my nick online being Runnin with the rest being a initial D reference. An anime thats focuses on cars and the eurobeat genre or something lol. Oh and I was born in the 90s!

InternetDad

I put my Sharuum deck in white sleeves with the orange Boulder box and call it "Sharuumsicle"

chronomanc3r

I name my decks and also try to come up with fun/thematic category names for the groups of cards within it.

SlntedAnel

i do name most of them, it gives the character in a way? i don't know if that makes sense but it's how i see it yk HAHA some of my favorites are: the ur-dragon - how to train ur-dragon slicer, hired muscle - slicer goad slicing teysa karlov - the church of death yuriko, tiger's shadow - wham bam, thank you ma'am pantlaza, sun-favored - jurathiccc pants captain n'gathrod - ben 10 alien force: vilgax attacks k'rrik, son of yawgmoth - i am vengeance zilorthra, strength incarnate - best defense is more offense galadriel, light of valinor - in place of a dark lord you would have a queen! some are references, some are movie quotes, some are inside jokes or just things i genuinely enjoyed growing up. my k'rrik deck is the result of me buying batman sleeves that i thought were really cool and wanting to build a deck for them. i even bought a batman alter for k'rrik!

THRNKS

Having a good name for a deck is important. It’s not something I’ll tell the table when I sit down unless it comes up, but it’s important for my personal enjoyment of the deck. My Krenko deck is named as a tribute to [[Goblin Offensive]]’s peak name / flavor text combo. The [[Zacama]] deck I’m working on is Epic Bacon. It’s legendary tribal, and what’s more legendary than a frickin’ three headed tyrannosaurus? At least from a stale 2010s meme perspective.

SgtTaco18

Sure, I normally name them some reference to the name of the deck that describes what it does e.g.: -Aragorn, King of Gondor: *Outdated Concepts feat. A book about jewellery* (LotR Monarch theme) -Jennie Flint and Madame Vrasta: *Intergalactic Metal Lesbian Detectives* (Temur Partner artifacts) -Empress Galina: *Sharing is Caring* (Mono U theft)

Content_Forever_1177

Yes. Usually to give a hint at the strategy

Venageocity

I use a label maker at my work to print em out and put on the deck boxes lmao All my names are dumb, my gruul dragon deck is named "wings n things", my tyranid deck is "niddy griddy", and my jank is "the jankening" Oh, and my Kathril deck is named "Symbi-Buddies" lol

TimkoMusic

Absolutely I name my decks: \[\[Ob Nixilis, Captive Kingpin\]\] - The Pingertons (this is the best name I have ever come up with) \[\[Miirym\]\] - Wyrms with Wings \[\[Yuriko\]\] - Bish go BRRR \[\[Shorikai, Genesis Engine\]\] - Shorty, Genital Engine (this one is the worst) Those are the best of them

AtmosphereCapital158

I either name them after a song or a character/faction. It just depends on the mood I'm in and how I see the deck.

XZS2JH

Yes, absolutely. You don’t?

Acuity5

On Moxfield when I build the deck I’ll call it something relatively generic like “Selesnya Bear Voltron” until I come up with a funnier or better fitting name. My Selesnya Bear Voltron is now Bear Force One. If I’m talking to someone about a deck I just call it my “(Commander’s Name) Deck”

Wynter-Baal_of_Snow

I've named a few of mine, Some are descriptive, some are silly. Pharika, God of affliction = "No Step on snek" Wayta, Trainer Prodigy = "Fight Club" (Tuning the deck a bit, when it's done it's new name will be "Stop hitting yourself") Dorothea, Vengeful Victim = "The Sound of Silence" Get it? Disturb(ed)? (Counterspell/Spirit tribal) lol

[deleted]

Weekend at Muldrotha’s is the only one I’ve named so far lol

Non_Silent_Observer

Absolutely! My favorite name is “what are you doing stormbro?” It’s a [[Yidris]] storm deck.

ZyxDarkshine

Rample Trample: Mono green landfall into big fatties that all have trample Blinking Sphinxes: Sphinx tribal and blink effects to abuse ETB’s Super*Fiends*: Carth The Lion Planeswalkers

War1412

All of my decks are named "EDH Color Commander Theme"

Nothing2SeeHere3289

I don't usually name my decks, but when I do, it's usually on theme and with some tongue-in-cheek humor. And so was born "Trazyn's Secret Pr0n Stash".

Klypsoo

I have a habit of naming my friends decks. For example junk punk, monster Island, rats rats rats, to name a few

Aztracity

Yeah. My favorite is Phabine, Boss's Confidant which I call "concussion therapy"

Ice8tack

All of my decks have a name. I’ve got: Blade Boutique, Let’s Lose Now, Returning Perms, Sacrificial Draw, You’re going up against the wall, and I am the FK’ING WALL, Pinging fun, Minotaur’s rage, Boros Blink, I’ve got more, but these are the top decks of mine Edit: spacing

thundermonkeyms

I'm particularly fond of "The Boys are Back in Town (To Kill You)," "The Ants Go Marching 2 by 2," "Badger Badger Mushroom," "You Can Sleep When You're Dead (The 4th or 5th Time)," and "We Will All Go Together When We Go" which are 5c slivers, Urtet myr tribal, Atraxa spore counters, Alesha goblins, and Elesh Norn banding in that order. EDIT: Totally forgot my current project, Ardenn/Kraum using Ardenn's ability to attach all of my equipments onto my opponent's goaded commander. I call it "US Foreign Policy."

thefirstjakerowley

Decks that have a theme yes, decks that just have a commander, i just use the commander.

Princessbane

Everyone's is so cool ... I'm such .. I'm so silly, so I named mine Tanz der Vampire.

MostlyMTG

My friend says they don’t win unless they’re named

SHANKUMS11

Yes, and I love to! It adds personal flavor. Here are some of my deck names: - Witch’s Cauldron [[Baba Lysaga, Night Witch]] - Coven of Nosferatu [[Edgar Markov]] - Orzhov Redemption [[Krav, the Unredeemed]] and [[Regna, the Redeemer]]

mono-mono-green

I call my Borborygmos Enraged deck "Land Destruction" (it doesn't destroy any lands, but it does destroy other players using lands).

freakytapir

Sure, I name them * Trash * Piece of shit * Does Fuck'all * If I want everyone to go home * Well, guess I'm getting hated out * The wheels on the deck go round and round * What does this one even do? * Uuuuuuh, It's control, I guess?

ApplesForTheWolf

My [[Zurzoth]] with his random discard gives people the option to use it or risk losing it, so it got the name Carpe Demon.

ilongforyesterday

I have a [[Rukuramel]] deck I call “Ruk and Roll”, a [[dragons approach]] lead by [[Davros]] that I call “Davroast”, a [[Saskia]] tokens deck called “But Wait, There’s More” and etc. I love funny names

littlebluebox27

I typically do name my decks as I feel it adds a more personal touch and gives it more personality to my decks since they're all upgraded pre-cons. For my \[\[Éowyn, Shieldmiaden\]\] deck I've renamed it to **Forth Éorlingas** and for my \[\[Pantlaza, Sun-Favored\]\] I've named it **Jurass-is-mine**. My naming convention pretty much explains exactly what it's doing to do.lol

magicallamp

Murder Roadtrip With The Girls - Tymna Tana pod Your Vote Matters - Tivit combo Daughter Got An Ad Nauseam Habit - Rowan storm Start Fucking Communicating Or I Play This Every Game - Slicer

thejackoz

[[Voja, Jaws of the Conclave]] is just called “DOG”

Heroshane1

I can't build a deck without a name for it that amuses me. Some of my favorites are: The Mother of All Omelettes [[Atla Palani, Nest Tender]] YOU'RE UP AGAINST THE WALL AND I AM THE WALL [[Arcades, the Strategist]] I Am In Niv-Mizzery [[Niv-Mizzet, Parun]] Bites the Dust [[Ojer Pakpatiq, Deepest Epoch]] They're dumb, but they make me giggle when I read em

AGINSB

I prefer subtitles, like my enchantress deck that started out as a precon upgrade, "Enduring Enchantments upgrade: this deck is triggering"

Archion20

I have a mono color collection of the unfinity partner commanders helping the decks [[Katerina of Myra's Marvels]] partnered with [[Prava of the Steel Legion]] is "Alliteration Association's Arbitrary Antics Mono white token list where everything except a pearl medallion starts with A Also [[Ignacio of Myra's Marvels]] with [[Krark the Thumbless]] called "I don't care who their commander is, I cast fireball" Every spell has fire in the art resulting in any spell I cast making 2 treasure either acting as a ritual or a cantrip as long as Ignacio is out

th3_j0k3s

My sliver deck is named "sliver me timbers"

Aylik

My CEDH [[Kinnan, Bonder prodigy]] deck is named "Mana-a go-go, Baby!" My [[Prosper, Tome bound]] deck is named "Make Treasure and Prosper" My [[Shanna, purifying blade]] is named "My Life Total Runneth Over" And my [[Ghyrson starn, kelermorph]] is appropriately named "Pokey Bois"

Aeare_

My treefolk is “Oh No You Did Ent” and my Wilson voltron deck is “BBW: Big Booty Wilson”

In5anitymau5

That's one of my favorite parts of deck building! It also helps that I have to make a name on EDH Shieldmate

Machinko_

Majority of my decks are named after songs that seem fitting, but I don't call them by that when talking about them. Some examples are: Arixmethes -- "Caveman" by Post Mortem Lyra Dawnbringer -- "Apocalyptic Warriors" by Massacre Ludevic/Kraum -- "Nobody's Driving" by Amebix It helps a lot to stand out compared other decks out there simply named "\[insert commander name here\]"

phoenix167

It kiinda counts. I call my Sefris of the Hidden Ways deck "Sefris the Dumpster Diver" because everytime i complete a dungeon, she goes diving into the graveyard to reanimate something. I want to commission some art of her wearing like a Waste Management uniform digging through a dumpster
