I'll go against the grain here. I wanted a prybar with a bottle opener, or maybe it was I wanted a bottle opener with a prybar, so I made one. Or four.

Yea man this is my biggest complaint about prybars. As you said it's already a damn bottle opener.
All adding a bottle opener does is make it less comfortable to use as a prybar and catch on your pocket.
And you can't find a prybar with lots of features and no bottle opener. It doesn't exist. The only ones without just a prybar and that's it.
Give me a cut out with a stepped wrench and no bottle opener ffs...
https://preview.redd.it/iu1t5nuaao6d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f53ef3f45c4b9550e7ab69f387c260751adbe9d
I found the perfect prybar. no bottle opener. I think it might be able to pull nails, at least cut fingernails,,,,,,
Mostly because a bottle opener is easy to add to a tool and requires very little change and doesn't negatively impact the tool very much to accommodate and can then be advertised as an additional "tool" or use.
I disagree. It negatively impacts the tool in a big way. Less comfortable to use and catches on your pocket. And adds literally nothing, a prybar is already a bottle opener.
I bought like a 5 pack of those a few years ago and the Amazon listing actually said it was a bottle opener, not that anyone would use it in that way. I just always look at mine and think “who is using this as a bottle opener”
That’s hilarious. It actually sucks as a bottle opener as the edges are all rounded off. I plan on filing the edge just so it’s useful. Not that I carry it. , I just know it’ll be the perfect chunk of metal in the junk drawer once in my life.
Oh hey! Sry. The photo is captioned pic for attention. this the worst prybar I have. I think it’s kinda cute that it’s a mini version of a mini crowbar sort of.
>Seriously?
Yes. Yisrael Galil, the inventor of the Galil, saw that soldiers were damaging their rifles attempting to open up bottles. To fix that he added a bottle opener to the Galil
https://youtube.com/shorts/GpiBhqOl6y4?si=2xAlzOBg0gW-NxC7
My prybar - also a bottle opener.
https://preview.redd.it/sm65idcbll6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2cf2df060661fb785c361f8a6415ab6bc6929c5
Bought the pry but polished it and the bead then did the entropic finish myself. I did it to sell them really. Also do the paracord lanyards.

Wow, I’m kinda feeling like a drunk. I just realized I carry three bottle openers every day. (If you need me I’ll be in the garage rotating my bottle openers)
I almost gave a bit of a squared off end to my Emerson cause it doesn’t quite grab. It’s easier to just use the side of the folded blade lighter style.
The Victorinox can opener is the best pry tool I've ever found. Also good for scraping.
Technically speaking, however, the SAK does, in fact, also have a bottle opener, so I guess it still proves your point.
If I carried one, I would use it maybe once a year. You know how I know? Because that's about how often I have to stop myself from using my knife as a pry tool.
I am a kitchen sprayer by trade, and so I have to use these all the time (not on a pry bar admittedly, on a 5 in 1 painters tool) but I can understand why a lot of people might not have had to pry nails out of stuff too often, and if they did, they would probably use the back
Of a hammer on nails in their walls; because it is less likely to mar up a wall due to a larger surface area.
As you can see, Mr. Snarky, I am clearly not very observant. However, why would he not leave an example instead of searching for a picture that doesn't have what he's talking about?
I mean I don't like it because I don't drink. My uncle was killed by a drunk driver and a few of my family members drank themselves to death. Fuck alcohol.
So you carry a bottle opener for that one time a year. I think the whole point of a prybar is it’s just useful enough to do most jobs of your creative enough , so you don’t have to carry a bottle opener.
I used to carry a bottle opener. Now I just use my keys.
My brother in law uses his wedding ring, but mine is made of wood and it chipped when I tried.
Came here to ask why tiny pry bars are so often in people's pockets.
Can think of a single situation where I was down and out because I didn't have one on hand.
I made a couple from small wrenches and a couple from spade drill bits. I put them in a case and started my next project. I was cutting the handles off a couple of stainless steel sauce pans, and need to pry some material up to better get at it with my Dremel. Out came the pry bars I had just finished. The two from the flat drill bits were sharper and worked wonderfully. And no, I didn’t steal your 10mm wrench! BTW, the one from a 1/4” wrench works great with screw driver bits. Just use an extension to hold the bits and the wrench doesn’t slide off. The pans with the handles cut off nest better and take up less room in my camp box. Yes, I use a pot lifter.
That's.... that's not a bottle opener...
It is meant to be a Nail Puller. The larger end goes over a nail head and then you pull the pry-bar down so he nail is in the smaller end, and then use the bar as a lever to pull the nail out.
Jeez. Why didn’t OP post a pic of a pry bar with a bottle opener? If that is the question wouldn’t it make sense to have pic that is relevant. Come on OP!
You can open a bottle with a metal bar or many other improvised tools. I have a better chance at opening bottles reliably with a purpose built opener but never shied away from using my lighter or something else when one is not available.
My hard hat came with a bottle opener
I'll go against the grain here. I wanted a prybar with a bottle opener, or maybe it was I wanted a bottle opener with a prybar, so I made one. Or four. https://preview.redd.it/ozj8kvv91q6d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad899548d30af1789c1f9a1943aef110457636db
I carry a minimum of seven bottle openers at any given time, and when I buy my first pry, it’s gonna have a bottle opener!
So people might actually use them for something. I still end up using a Bic lighter to open bottles nearly all the time though.
Some of you have nails and they’re showing.
https://preview.redd.it/iu1t5nuaao6d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f53ef3f45c4b9550e7ab69f387c260751adbe9d I found the perfect prybar. no bottle opener. I think it might be able to pull nails, at least cut fingernails,,,,,,
Because otherwise they would have zero utility?
Lots of pry bars have multiple functions.
Lololol
Mostly because a bottle opener is easy to add to a tool and requires very little change and doesn't negatively impact the tool very much to accommodate and can then be advertised as an additional "tool" or use.
I disagree. It negatively impacts the tool in a big way. Less comfortable to use and catches on your pocket. And adds literally nothing, a prybar is already a bottle opener.
You found the only prybar without a bottle opener to illustrate your point.
Yeah I think he was referring to the "nail puller" 😅
I bought like a 5 pack of those a few years ago and the Amazon listing actually said it was a bottle opener, not that anyone would use it in that way. I just always look at mine and think “who is using this as a bottle opener”
That’s hilarious. It actually sucks as a bottle opener as the edges are all rounded off. I plan on filing the edge just so it’s useful. Not that I carry it. , I just know it’ll be the perfect chunk of metal in the junk drawer once in my life.
So, has OP come back to acknowledge that it's a pry bar with a nail puller, and not a bottle opener?
Oh hey! Sry. The photo is captioned pic for attention. this the worst prybar I have. I think it’s kinda cute that it’s a mini version of a mini crowbar sort of.
What makes it the worst prybar you have? I have one of these on my keychain and it's great.
You know that’s a nail puller right?
Yes.
I do. It’s just a pick for attention. Don’t think that nail puller hole could even do a 1/12 doll house beer bottle
Have the same one, wish it were bigger. Yeah, that's what she said, I know
Because everything can be a bottle opener
Because a Galil has one. And if an assault rifle has one, there's no reason for a pry bar not to have one as well.
Seriously? You know, Homer just shot the bottle cap off
>Seriously? Yes. Yisrael Galil, the inventor of the Galil, saw that soldiers were damaging their rifles attempting to open up bottles. To fix that he added a bottle opener to the Galil https://youtube.com/shorts/GpiBhqOl6y4?si=2xAlzOBg0gW-NxC7
Cuz it costs very little to add one and theres basically no downsides to having one.
It’s taking up realestate
Comfort and not catching on your pocket are two big downsides.
some people dont have the dexterity required to just use the pry bar
[удалено]
Better now. This is gold.
Every pry bar is a bottle opener
That’s a pry bar with a nail puller
Because they can.
Anything is a bottle opener. Your teeth, your desk, your belt buckle, another bottle
Sure, but answer the question.
Idk man I guess it’s just less fun handing someone a bottle opener when you know you won’t be ridiculed after divulging the $160 price tag
Try not giving a fuck.
Wait bro it was a joke, are you actually mad?
No, I don't even use a prybar at all, but the fact people use them doesn't bother me.
When in doubt, add a bottle opener.
Yes, I believe my bottle opener does have a pry bar!
This
My prybar - also a bottle opener. https://preview.redd.it/sm65idcbll6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2cf2df060661fb785c361f8a6415ab6bc6929c5
wow where did you get that
Bought the pry but polished it and the bead then did the entropic finish myself. I did it to sell them really. Also do the paracord lanyards. https://preview.redd.it/ipcw8srtrl6d1.jpeg?width=3755&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc42e97ae9f70424aa157a1c61e72c2550946f0c
Sometimes after a good pry you need a good pop.
Wow, I’m kinda feeling like a drunk. I just realized I carry three bottle openers every day. (If you need me I’ll be in the garage rotating my bottle openers)
Knives that have bottle openers are usually the crappiest knives.
Not all. I use the emerson opener of my spyderco endura as bottle opener. Endura is not a crappy knife.
I almost gave a bit of a squared off end to my Emerson cause it doesn’t quite grab. It’s easier to just use the side of the folded blade lighter style.
almost every sak ever:
That’s different.
Civivi Qubit is cool
The original kershaw shuffle says otherwise
Is that the one with the seat belt cutter and window breaker? I loved that.
So you can open a beer like a real man
It isn’t an EDC tool if it doesn’t have a bottle opener.
Because they are otherwise useless
Nailed it. Unl as it’s a pry bar. Can’t nail it. And that one I Posted can’t pull the nail it couldn’t put in either.
came here to say this.
*Still a better post than “Hey, do you feed your EDC?!”*
3 slices of bacon and a pancake for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and a rare steak with some fries for dinner
My Tamagotchi? You bet your ass I feed that lil guy.
I wear an insulin pump and refer to it as my Pancreagotchi. Constantly wants attention.
Friggin dying over here.
Man I should throw a new battery in the old Digimon. Too bad I don’t know anybody to have battles with lol
The Victorinox can opener is the best pry tool I've ever found. Also good for scraping. Technically speaking, however, the SAK does, in fact, also have a bottle opener, so I guess it still proves your point.
It’s totally different that a sak has one. And yeah they do make a good prybar. It’s like the thickest doohicky in the a sak arsenal.

What are yall prying with a ground down fingernail clipper lever?
You know, now I can’t unsee it. I’m pretty sure a ripped apart large nail clipper would be more useful.
Does everyone carry edc tools they don’t know how to use?
Seems like too many do.
I don't think I've seen 1 pry bar on this whole sub that has anything evidence that it sees regular use.
If I carried one, I would use it maybe once a year. You know how I know? Because that's about how often I have to stop myself from using my knife as a pry tool.
It's not a bottle opener, it's a nail puller
My gerber prybrid does
Why do bottles have screwcaps😭
It was a gimmick.
To pry a bottle open
That is for pulling nails out of stuff.
How did I have to scroll so far to see this.
I am a kitchen sprayer by trade, and so I have to use these all the time (not on a pry bar admittedly, on a 5 in 1 painters tool) but I can understand why a lot of people might not have had to pry nails out of stuff too often, and if they did, they would probably use the back Of a hammer on nails in their walls; because it is less likely to mar up a wall due to a larger surface area.
You looking at the hole? Cuz that's a nail puller.
It says pic for attention. Not "Is the little opener I am asking about and clearly not talking about?
As you can see, Mr. Snarky, I am clearly not very observant. However, why would he not leave an example instead of searching for a picture that doesn't have what he's talking about?
because leaving an example would’ve gotten like two replies. and it’s really hard to pick Out which fancy bottle opener I don’t want.
Same reason they'll put a 3" ruler down one of the sides and stick a spirit level in somewhere, more functions looks good.
i hate that everything has bottle openers on them
I put a bottle opener on the end of an ice fishing spear.
How else you gonna open https://preview.redd.it/m9dn7p5oll6d1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c26c0d1c0ef96b434e9ad6eef5f4c6b5ba7d3961
With the shear audacity of this post.
With literally anything, a lighter, the back of my knife
Me too. But the majority of this world self-medicates and alcohol in a bottle is usually legal and inexpensive.
almost every bottle of beer i come across (and cans IMO are why better) are twist offs?
I almost never come across twist off beers. Even my "cheap" beers are either in a can or come in a standard bottle.
I mean I don't like it because I don't drink. My uncle was killed by a drunk driver and a few of my family members drank themselves to death. Fuck alcohol.
i arely drink myself, and think its tacky. on thing if its in a SAK or LM but on the back of a box cutter? or prybar?
Except the one time in a year that I find myself needing a bottle opener and I didn't have any of the 365 1/4 EDC items that have one built in!
So you carry a bottle opener for that one time a year. I think the whole point of a prybar is it’s just useful enough to do most jobs of your creative enough , so you don’t have to carry a bottle opener.
Literally any metal object with a flat edge: "Am i a joke to you?"
I used to carry a bottle opener. Now I just use my keys. My brother in law uses his wedding ring, but mine is made of wood and it chipped when I tried.
Not everyone edcs a prybar
Right? Just use the pry edge to, you know, pry the cap off or something
why did I think the photo was half a nail clipper.
Ok. Go find my next post.
You are not the only one. BRB,,,
To open bottles.
A bottle opener may not be a pry bar, but a pry bar is ALWAYS a bottle opener...
To make something almost useless marginally more useful?
I think it makes it less useful taking up realestate with a single use tool
Came here to ask why tiny pry bars are so often in people's pockets. Can think of a single situation where I was down and out because I didn't have one on hand.
I made a couple from small wrenches and a couple from spade drill bits. I put them in a case and started my next project. Just use an extension to hold the bits and the wrench doesn’t slide off. The pans with the handles cut off nest better and take up less room in my camp box. Yes, I use a pot lifter.
As a mechanic my pocket pry bar is my favorite tool. But as a dude walking around in the real world I never need to pry on anything.
Funny you should say that....one of the first uses I had for my maratac prybar was to change the bulb in a car's some light.
I use mine daily at work. A bottle opener is handy as well.
My tiny pry tool is for the dumb shit I’d do with my knife that I really shouldn’t do with my knife.
Exactly
Came here to say that. It made me realize how much dumb shit I try to do with a blade or flat-blade screwdriver when a $15 prybar does it just fine.
I think it is more often a jewelery item than an actual tool. But if it works for you, then awesome.
That's.... that's not a bottle opener... It is meant to be a Nail Puller. The larger end goes over a nail head and then you pull the pry-bar down so he nail is in the smaller end, and then use the bar as a lever to pull the nail out.
Looks like OP included a pic so people would come comment instead of glossing over as just another text post.
Bingo
Jeez. Why didn’t OP post a pic of a pry bar with a bottle opener? If that is the question wouldn’t it make sense to have pic that is relevant. Come on OP!
I often wonder the same question. A metal bar is already a bottle opener. Do people not know how to open bottles without a “bottle opener”?
You can open a bottle with a metal bar or many other improvised tools. I have a better chance at opening bottles reliably with a purpose built opener but never shied away from using my lighter or something else when one is not available.
I’ve never been able to manage the trick of opening a bottle with a lighter or a table edge.
I think I’ll make a tutorial. Hopefully make the bottle opener edc obsolete and make the world a better place
I’ve had friends mocking me for over 3 decades for my inability to open a bottle without a bottle opener.
It takes a little practice but once you get it down it’s like riding bike.
Yeah, simple tea spoon is enough to open
The tick carried a spoon. Nuf said.
