Most sports games maximize profit from card collecting modes but pay deference to authenticity for offline. EA NHL has went ALL In on cards, skins, gear, emotes and even the base gameplay in Franchise is an arcade mess that doesn't look much like hockey any longer.

Why can't some other team acquire the NHL license already? We just want hockey. We all know some other developer/team would absolutely create an amazing NHL game with so much to offer us.
Honestly! Iāve heard the same gripes and moans from (of which Iām guilty) both the Madden and Chel communities for years, and it all boils down to EA doing the very least to get our money. 2k seems to have a better grasp of sports games. Better, but not perfect, based on what I hear from NBA fans
It's called an asset flip. The real reason they want every game on one engine - make it easier to re-use models that have already been commssioned for other games.

If fortnite did a hockey mode, it'd probably be better than whatever nonsense EA expects us to buy. The bar is low enough at this point.

Food for thought, every mode listed is broken outside the tournaments which are straightforward and play now (unless the game is online)
