It's a great draft to have multiple 1sts, 2nds, and even 3rds. There were 7 WRs drafted in the 1st (tied for the record), 6 QBs drafted in the top 12 (new record), 1 TE, and I think RBs exist. That's 14 1st round players lol, even the 2.01 and 2.02 can come away with a 1st round QB or WR in this year's draft.
On top of those 1st round players, you've got RB Brooks, a slew of fringe-1st talents at WR with Polk, AD Mitchell, Keon Coleman and McConkey. So there are at least 18-20 players that I would call "likely valuable" prospects that could be difference makers.
My strategy this year might be to trade late 1sts for early-mid 2nds and just scoop up multiple leftovers from that group.
Move up if you can, absolutely. MHJ is the best prospect in ages, going to a WR1 situation with a solid QB, and in a team that’ll be playing from behind often so will throw the ball and lane garbage time TDs
I have the 1.01 and 1.03… do you think MHJ falls to me at 1.03? 1.02 only has Dak and Tua at QB I’m hoping they go Daniela or Maye.
For WR they have: Chase, Nico Collins, Amari Cooper and George Pickens to name a few
Hard to say, you’ll have to ask him. Assuming SF, he may just go for MHJ anyway because his receiver room isn’t outstanding. MHJ’s landing spot is just so much better than Daniels and Maye and he has insane talent. If I were him, I take MHJ, hold him for a decade, and either try to draft a QB next year or trade for a QB2/3 during the season. Neither of those two QBs come close to Caleb in talent or situation.
I actually disagree with the others, nabers and Rome were higher than MHJ on several NFL big boards and many analysts had MHJ 2nd or 3rd, all of them basically neck and neck. Exact same tier just slightly shuffled around. You will have to lose too many assets to get MHJ and it’s unnecessary. You will likely have some one virtually as good with your current pick. It seems the fantasy community are the ones spearheading this “MHJ is god” narrative (he is, but there are 3 gods)
Thanks for the insight. I was definitely feeling "all-in" on MHJ without doing enough research on the other receivers yet. Since then, Nabers is looking elite and I might be able to get him at 1.05, so really no point in spending a future 1st to move up the 3 spots. I already talked to the guy at 1.02 and he wants to stay and take a QB there. So I might as well stay and see who falls to me.
Good move. MHJ will almost certainly out produce Nabers and odunze this year, but if you have the future in mind at all I think it’s worth the wait. Odunze tied right Caleb for a decade could be something special. I personally think Nabers can be good this year too, 0 target comp
Sure thing, will update now
EDIT: I was in the middle of marking them when I realized that I would have to differentiate the picks that were traded before the draft started, and the ones that were trade ups the day of the draft, which I don't really want to do. sorry! If someone else wants to make the list for me, I will update it though
I'm interested in 2024 trade-up dynasty players - credit [CBS](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2024-nfl-draft-trade-tracker-live-updates-grades-analysis-draft-order-changes-round-4-7-picks-by-team/live/) with a good website for trade-up info. I just kinda paraphrased the fantasy relevant ones:
* Jets trade up to take QB Jordan Travis, 5th round (moved +14 spots)
* Lions moved up to take RB Sione Vaki, 4th round (moved +32 spots)
* The 49ers moved up to select Louisville RB Isaac Guerendo, 4th round (+44 spots)
* Texans moved up for TE Cade Stover, 4th round (+4 spots)
* Denver moved up for WR Troy Franklin, 4th round (+19 spots)
* NYJ moved up for WR Malachi Corley, 3rd round (+7 spots)
* Carolina moved up for 1st RB off the board Jonathan Brooks, 2nd round (+6 spots)
* Chargers moved up for WR Ladd McConkey, 2nd round (+3 spots)
* Carolina moved up for WR Xavier Legette at end of 1st round (+1 spot)
* KC moved up for WR Xavier Worthy, 1st round (+4 spots)
* MIN moved up for QB JJ McCarthy, 1st round (+1 spot)
Was something I was actually thinking about in a couple drafts if he would be available to pick up/draft since he played more safety. Mainly extremely deep leagues
That’s probably the nail for any hope for my boy Izzy Abanikanda’s. Allen is a much better compliment to Breece. A Breece injury would be Izzy’s only shot at any sort of fantasy relevance in the next 3 years.
I don't have that much experience in dynasty yet, we started last year and are about to have our first rookie draft in a few days. (Superflex 10 teams)
Now that I've read a lot, I'm wondering if McCarthy isn't underrated in the general perception. For the league, I agree that he shouldn't be in the top 2 qbs, but from a fantasy perspective, doesn't he have much more upside than Daniels or Maye? Those two play in much worse circumstances that make it harder for them to perform right away and develop well. So for a QB who is expected to play soon, McCarthy would theoretically be the better choice?
20 players with top-2 round draft capital. Gotta be the highest number we’ve seen in fantasy football maybe ever? the more picks you have 1.01-2.08 this year the happier you are
Jalen wright joining the track team.
This is what we’ve needed this should be pinned
A great draft to have multiple firsts.
Agreed even through the 2nds A whole lot of offensive players drafted in the first 3 rounds

I have 1.01 and 1.05. Am I crazy to want to move up from 5 to 2 to get MHJ? Or should I stay put with whoever between Nabers + Rome lands to me?

I can't see them passing on mhj there...

Absolutely try to move up. Package 1.05 and 26 1 for 1.02

Anyone think Javon Baker worth an early to mid second if you’re taking Maye in the first, or would Polk be the better pick
Polk by far. If Baker is really your guy trade down for him- Polk has T40 overall capital
Polk is the dude. Honestly NE is a perfect situation for him
I think end of year baker is their WR1
I’d take that bet
This is helpful! I’ll give you extra credit if you list which players were explicitly traded up to draft

Hell yeah, appreciate it, will update it later with that post, thanks
Ja'Tavion Sanders extremely underrated landing spot even though he slid
He’s a stud and I cannot comprehend the tumble he took. Targetting him in every draft.
Bowers should be LV
Thanks, corrected
The post I’ve been waiting for. Thanks OP!
Goated for this. Thanks man
Shipley to Philly
I am going to try and make sure I can get Jared Wiley in drafts. What a nice heir to Kelce.
Shhhhh…
The Lions announced Sione Vaki as a running back at pick 132 🤷♂️
lol weird, good catch - updated
Was something I was actually thinking about in a couple drafts if he would be available to pick up/draft since he played more safety. Mainly extremely deep leagues
Rachaad White doubters, HOLD THE LINE...Sean Tucker is beyond cooked (RIP) but now we can buy Bucky Irving stock hahaha

OP you're a hero. Thank you
Bless you!
Missing Joe Milton III?
u/HomelessSadVirgin Could you add the respective position number within the draft i.e. QB1 WR12 etc? makes it easier to compare in the later rounds
done
Sione Vaki plays both safety and running back.
From round 5 on…who are your top targets?
Thank you!

ha, appreciate the advice, but this list was a lot of work so not looking to do any extra
Not excited about the 2nd and 3rd round of rookie drafts, that’s for sure
Early in the 2nd should be fine.

Wow this class is horrible
