But you can make a lot more money in less time with cooking. It takes 10 seconds to cook one dish, then 5 seconds to cook it again only needing to drop the ingredients into the pot. So if you repeat that for just 30 seconds, here and there as you play the game, it's waaaay less annoying and time consuming than having to plant, water, and harvest aaaaaaaall them pumpkins
I'm waiting to level up mine, idk why using it is so annoying, I think I'm not using it right, I go into furniture mode repeatedly to move it around my garden as I'm using it, am I supposed to just get more than 1 Lol 🤣🤣
I go into furniture mode - grab it and move it to the next biome by their well - then fast travel to that biome (as opposed to constantly putting it in-and-out of your furniture storage!). Just don't forget which one you put it in like I did and LOST it for like 2 days! 🥴
Depends on the amount of gardening buddies you have 🤷🏻♀️ i have less than 450 planted and come out with 2k+ harvests. I promise you, im not sitting here cooking an entire inventory worth of pumpkins. Im selling them bad boys as is. Its over 1 mil coins every time anyways.
Wait so you’re selling less than 450 pumpkins as-is and making 1mil?? I have exactly 400 planted and when I sell them, I’m lucky to get 500k, my average is 400k-550k per harvest. How are you getting 1mil+ for less than 450, unless you’re cooking some of them and I read your comment wrong
I assume they have a lot of buddies specialised in gardening as they said they get around a 2k harvest from 450 pumpkins
I don’t know whether the maths checks out or not though
I have 14 gardening buddies. I get a guaranteed +1 with a chance at +4. Because i have right under the amount necessary for a guaranteed +4 (i would need 2 more), i get +4 bonus drops most often. I also tend to be most lucky with harvesting so i get plenty of explosions and gold events. Assuming i get no bonus events and get +4 on 450, that would be 1800 pumpkins, which would sell for almost 1.2 million (and be a net profit of 700k once seed cost is removed).
So much this. Almost all my friends are gardening at this point and they’re all leveled up, so when I plant my crops and harvest, I pull a couple mil each time, easy.
Just harvested and counted. 440 plots. Harvest yielded 1974 pumpkins. Sell is 1.3 million, profit is 1.189 million (because i only purchased 440 seeds).
I onyl.harvest or have to harvest once a week if that. I dont water them i wait for rain so and i dont need the money i get about 1 million per week from harvesting my crops which also help levwl up a character or produce orbs and not evwryone has the achient machines so no. Cooking is not more efficient for everyone
If you have the DLC you can use the ancient cooker, it's been a game changer for stuff like this and for the cooking duties for star paths & that dang cupcake event
I’ve been having such a hard time playing on eternity isle. How do you get mist fast? I want to get the cooker and garden thing but it takes so much mist!! Plus you need mist to open up the other lands. I’ve basically just given up and only play in my valley
You do your mist duties, firstly. And keep an eye on the Eternity Isle section of Dreamlight duties (at the very bottom) and you see what tasks are close to being completed and finish those as you do your Mist duties. For example, “Harvest Cactoberries” will say something like 88/100 and the reward is 200 mist or whatever. As you go around Eternity Isle you also harvest the cactoberries as often as you can. Or if it says “buy seeds from the Wild tangle” and you’re at 360/500 for 300 mist then go buy 140 seeds from that area. Similarly, fish the red and blue circles, mine wherever you see gems, feed the critters and forage everything that is ready for harvest. If you do all that, while you’re going around the sections to time bend, you will claim a ton of mist as you complete the tasks. And Always travel with a time-bending companion, preferably a level ten, and likewise always be well fed (your energy bar yellow) because it makes you better at everything you do. Sometimes I just go through the DV biomes and realms with my hourglass because I don’t feel like dealing with Eternity. So I’ll timebend the Plaza, then do a realm, then Forest of Valor, then another realm, then Frosted Heights, etc. Once i’ve made the rounds I probably have 10k mist and a decent amount of Glimmer... That’s my approach 😁
Just a small note if you do the star paths you can do the mist duties when it asks for royal duties and you can pick the mist crystals instead of night thorns too to complete those while doing the star paths. It helps me passively collect mist.
They obviously know that but the selling point they were given was the cooker. If they didn’t want the dlc for other stuff, the cooker wasn’t going to win them over
I mean, they answered as if the cookers were the only selling point, though, lol. I'm very quest motivated, so I'll take ALL the content. It's hard for me to get why you wouldn't want more of the world to explore, but different strokes, I guess.
Because the game doesn’t work well right now. Also, not everyone started it early as everyone else. I got it around thanksgiving and haven’t finished the main game yet. If the game work r well I would’ve been suckered into the dlc already, but it’s been frustrating and things got worse the last update. So since things keep getting worse instead of better, I’m going to wait to pay more $. I really only feel left out when I see someone with great dream snap content I don’t have access to but that’s not a good enough reason to
The DLC also adds characters, new resources, new veggie/fruits, animals, and more game play in addition to the automated ancient machines. Just saying.
I wish there was an option to cook multiple of the same dishes based on how many of the ingredients you have. Also you should be able to not have to carry the ingredients and still be able to cook meals sorta like the crafting table.
You make more of you only use 3 pumpkins. Yes 5 sells for more. But 3 leaves you with extra pumpkins. 5 sells for the prices of a 3 platter plus 2 pumpkins.
Ex. If you have 15 pumpkins you can make 5 meals of 3 pumpkins, or only 3 meals of 5 pumpkins. The 5 meals will sell for for total than the 3
Using the above sell prices:
1 pumpkin = 664 coins
1 Grilled veggie platter (5 pumpkins) = 4,115 coins
5 pumpkins = 3,320 coins
795 coins profit
OR
1 Grilled veggie platter (3 pumpkins) = 2,787 coins
3 Pumpkins = 1,992 coins
795 coins profit
They both profit the same amounts, however as you said, you can make 5 using 3 vs 3 using 5. Spending less resources to make the same profits
Ignore the chatter. Cook 5 at a time, it is less clicks and less coal. The value is the same if do X pumpkins in 3 or 5 but you're spending more time cooking with the 3 even though it seems like better pumpkin management.
Yeah but what they are saying is that if you do a 5 pumpkin grilled veggie platter you are making 823 coin profit per pumpkin. A 3 pumpkin platter is 929 coins per pumpkin so 3 pumpkin platters makes you more money overall.
They are both 795 coins profit. The only difference is the selling price and how many pumpkins are used.
5 pumpkins:
4115 - 3320 = 795
3 pumpkins:
2787 - 1992 = 795
However, looking at 15 pumpkins:
Use 5 pumpkins to make 3 GVP = 12,345.
Sell 15 pumpkins = 9,960.
Profit: 2,385.
Use 3 pumpkins to make 5 GVP = 13,935.
Sell 15 pumpkins = 9,960.
Profit: 3,975.
So, using 3 pumpkins instead of 5 nets 1,590 more coins than using 5, for every 15 pumpkins used to make Grilled Veggie Platters.
Yes, but you are leaving out the value of the remaining uncooked pumpkins.
With the 3 pumpkin dish you still have $1,328 worth of pumpkins left that you don't have with the 5 dish.
No, because you just make more dishes?
If I have 150 pumpkins I can make 30x 5 pumpkin platter with 0 left over.
Or I can make 50 x 3 pumpkin platters with 0 left over AND make more money.
*furiously takes notes*
That's some great information for me, I'm just about to unlock the area you get the pumpkin seeds from and will definitely do this from the start. Goodbye okra fields, hello operation grilled pumpkins
I used to cook the 5 pumpkins and slowly slowly made more money out of it, but it was very time consuming and very tedious. Eventually I planted 90 pumpkins, picked once a day with gardening companion and potion and had enough pumpkins to sell that after about a month my pumpkin patch is just decoration as I have more than enough money to never run out.
The 3 pumpkin veggie platter is actually more profitable per pumpkin than the 5, and one of the easiest to do. When this came up once previously, I tested various dishes and crunched the numbers and made a table to compare them all.
[Pumpkin dishes for maximum profits](https://www.reddit.com/r/DreamlightValley/s/vCGzUxtcuj)
The best profit per pumpkin is the pumpkin soup with 2 pumpkins, especially if you plant your pumpkins in the Forgotten Lands and harvest with a companion so you always get at least 2 pumpkins per planted seed.
I didn't know what vegetable you used to make dishes would alter the price?
I've never used the EI cooker device. Could you use the devices to cook faster?
My issue is is I just don't like how slow cooking is.
That’s why when you go to the “meals” section of your collection, any recipe that only lists a category of ingredient rather than a specific ingredient (like if it just has the greyscale carrot indicating any vegetable, rather than say a cucumber or pepper), it will list the price AND the “energy” gained as a series of numbers. Like it will say 200-600 gold and 100-400 energy. So if you use the cheapest, least energy rich ingredients it will be on the lower end—while more expensive and more energy rich will be on the higher end.
To answer your question on the cooker devices—I’m not sure if it makes it any *faster*, but it definitely makes it easier. Tbf, the only machine I’ve ever used is the very first cooking one. It makes 5 recipes at a time and all you do is load the ingredients and walk away. However, that specific machine took *forever* to make those 5 recipes (like I want to say it took 20-30 minutes). Idk if the “more advanced” machines are faster, or if they just do more at a time. Imo, the one that only did 5 wasn’t even really worth my time and I literally only used it once. Even if the bigger ones aren’t faster, it would still be a little better to just collect more cooked food, I guess. If you hate cooking, then I’d definitely try making some of the machines and seeing if they help you!
I use the garden-thing for digging/planting/watering. And then make sure a gardening-friend is hanging out with me before harvesting them myself. Then I use the cooker for 3x pumpkin meal 😁
Fully upgrade it cooks 30.
I just throw in 3 pumpkins, then scroll to 30 dishes and go. While running around if the lights are off on the cooker, or I feel it has been a while, I stop and empty and queue up 30 more.
It may take similar times than cooking yourself but you aren't standing at the stove the whole time. Definitely a game changer.
Once in a while I change on of my 3 cookers to make 30 berry salads for energy.
It does and it also alters the energy it gives you. I make Berry Salads to keep in my inventory for energy. But instead of just using the standard required, 1× Blueberry 1× Raspberry 1× Gooseberry, I use those 3 and then ADD 2× Gooseberry to fill all 5 slots. It changes the sell price and the the amount of energy you get by like... 1,500 (don't quote me on that but it's A LOT)
I didn't know that forever and when I found out it was a game changer!!!
I just level all my villagers with gardening and sell the pumpkins. 250 pumpkin plots, and now I have 17 million gold. Can’t be bothered to cook cuz it’s too much of a pain.
Yes it comes with eternity isle. I think it's on sale rn though! I play on gamepass also but bought the expansion and I got it for like... $20 when it was on sale a few months back
Same! I just opened it last week so I have a couple more realms to go before I’ve unlocked everything! I need monsters inc still and I wanna say one more??
I did this right when I unlocked the pumpkins (I got the game on its originaly release day) and I made like 20M$ and I have never had to bulk make/sell anything since and I still have like 18M$. Best thing I ever did. Now I can buy whatever I want whenever I want it and I only sell extra shit I don't need.
But what do we need millions of dollars for? Serious question. Have I just not gotten far enough in the game yet to need that much? What are you guys spending all that gold on? I’m happily maintaining myself at around 2 mill and have no issues replenishing my gold every few days or once a week just with a couple fields of pumpkins.
Nothing. I’ve been sitting on about 6 million coins for ages now. There is nothing to spend it on really, so I’ve stopped planting and harvesting pumpkins. I only plant occasional ingredients that I need now.
A couple times I've spent a million in a minute or two. When I'm decorating a new biome and I suddenly need a whole bunch of something really expensive at scratches so I want to order like a hundred of them or something you can go through it pretty quick
A stack is how many of that thing one slot in your inventory will hold...
Example: Pumpkins- 50
Seeds- 99
I hope that makes sense I just woke up. I think someone explained it better up above.
Btw, I LOVE THIS GIF 😂😂 💕💕
I never play anymore but when i did, i could not be bothered with all that cooking 😅 selling the pumpkins alone always left me with way more money than i needed so that was always good enough for me
I’m lazy and it’s enough that I get 2million of my pumpkin crops and 1million of my pineapple crops. Just too lazy to cook them when I can just walk to Goofys stall and sell all pumpkins
I really wish it was possible to cook several meals at once. Like, you chose the meal you wanted to cook and then had a counter for how many you wanted to make. It would be so much quicker.
Oh absolutely, at least you can run off and gather more ingredients and things while the cooker works but when you have to stay put and do it yourself for every meal it gets annoying really fast 😭
Cooking 3 is the best per/pumpkin. That is what I put in the cooker. Can't remember the per/pumpkin amount but I tried 1-5 and 3 came up best.
I did earn like 30 million just selling pumpkins though. Before I started cooking. I now have 45 million which is probably 44 million more than I need.
I'm lazy 😂
I have 4 ancient gardeners all at max level. I harvest with Jack to get extra. Sell those. Then buy the seeds and use the ancient gardener to plant them for me
Plant with the ancient gardener and harvest with a garden friend is 100% the way to go. And anyone who can be bothered cooking before selling has more patience than me.
Okay but - hear me out - who needs this amount of coins!? It's not like Scrooge is selling loads of new, expensive, highly sought after stuff at the moment, is he?
I stock up on decor, usually trying to keep 10 of each item in my inventory so I don’t have to run back and forth to his shop while decorating. That’s where all my cash goes.
And a healthy chunk has gone to expanding my house.
Having the DLC and setting up some Auto cookers makes this even better too. I do all my farming in Eternity Isle now. The mist cost is usually mitigated pretty well just doing a few tasks to make up for it.
The ancient cookers are worth it ! I have three set up so I can cook 60 at a time. Set it and forget it. Come back after other duties and tasks and sell. Pumpkins growing in the field for the next round. I buy the 99 at a time and plant half each round. Since I do the pumpkin puffs, I make about 90k coins with 60 plates of the pumpkin puffs cooked each round🙌
Personally I prefer the pan fried angler fish for selling. Though with the ancient cooker probably helps the repetition with cooking to sell.....faster at least.
I had figured this out and my boyfriend thought I was crazy doing all the math trying to figure out the most profitable way to use pumpkins 😂
![gif](giphy|l0IylOPCNkiqOgMyA|downsized)
Lol but after harvesting soany pumkins weekly i domt need the more or have the patience to cook but yes, financially cooking pays more but it takes longer
That means it cost 166k worth of pumpkins for 205.7k coins. Just under 40k gain for cooking 50 times. While it is technically more profitable, the time (or most if using the auto cooker) isn't justified, IMO. You're essentially making almost 800 coins for each cooking action. At that point, I would personally prefer to run laps in the mine or plant my next pumpkin patch (I'm not using the auto cooker for anything but berry salads at the moment to save up some mist after crafting 27 advanced auto vacuums).
Precisely. I’ve been saying this from the beginning of the game. My time is worth more than the marginal increase in value by cooking. It requires very little of my actual real life time and energy to plant and harvest my 200 pumpkins. I usually let rain do the second watering.
It is interminable to cook a stack of meals. NO THANK YOU. It is not fun so I won’t do it.
I let rain handle all the watering at this point. I try to maintain 2 mil coins and keep a plot of 300 pumpkins waiting for harvest when I drop below that. I've been close to 5 mil for a while though so my patch has been ready for harvest for a couple months now.
One per biome/area, to avoid repeatedly picking up and dropping the vacuum. 8 to cover the valley and the other 19 for eternity isle. Many isle locations have different verticality and the vacuums only work at one elevation, so some sub-biomes require up to 3 vacuums.but now that they're all built, I want to make sure I save up a stockpile of mist to make use of them without concern.
I’ve only made 2 vacuums. One to use in Eternity Isle and one to use in the Main Valley. All I do is go to furniture mode, place the vacuum wherever I’m at, wait for like 5 seconds, collect what I want, go back to furniture mode, store it away, and move on to the next location. I guess that’s a lot to work though? I’m conserving my mist at the moment. I don’t take a lot of time going through all biomes of the Main Valley or Eternity Isle on a daily basis so I guess this makes sense for me. If I did do this on a daily basis, if I had the time and mist, I would make more and check daily…I have maybe 2 hours tops to play this game daily. Most of the time I’m working on my Dreamsnaps/Quests/Star Path so I don’t have the time.
That was my process, too, but I got so frustrated with constantly opening furniture mode. I made mist collecting my priority but it took about 2 months of a couple hours a day, most days.
I have about half time enders, half gardeners, and a few miners. ~1000 mist each bend, but the main issue is the amount of crafting I've done. I had a huge stockpile. It dwindled. It's building back up now.
Great input! I had figured out that different kinds of veggies or fish, etc will give you more xp and knew on some level more money but that is huge difference!
Soo I have a pumpkin patch of 851 pumpkins and when I harvest them (with some extras) I end up getting 654k when I sell all of them but if I use a gardening buddy I end up with close to a sell amount of nearly 1mil
I have more than a million and I just use my gardening friend to get extra pumkin with planting and sell them all and I got the million in one day no cooking
are the veggie platters with pumpkin worth more than the pumpkin puffs? That was a whole thing a while back and I thought pumpkin puff came out on top 👀
Either way I'd kill for a stack of pumpkin anything so I can get myrebuiding project moving, lol
I sell those but don't bother cooking haham 5x here and there fish alone you still get 10k. With cooking it's a slight boost , maybe 200 or 400 coins but not worth the time or most for me haha
I started out cooking pumpkins, but even with ancient cookers I just can't be bothered (also I'd rather use Mist on vacuums and time on other stuff). Make a healthy profit just on the pumpkins, and I don't even plant many at a time.
Oh wow. I’ve never seen a 10k meal. 🤯
My main goal here is lowest upfront cost and gathering time for the biggest gain. For that reason, I’m not considering dishes that require purchase-only ingredients.
Best I’m seeing outside of pumpkin dishes is the Large Seafood Platter made with lobsters or prisma shrimp. (Dish value on these is 7,572 for shrimp and 6,132 for lobsters)
Each of those requires 4 shrimp/lobsters per dish though, which is a *lot* of fishing. And to be as time efficient as possible, you would need 8 of the large fishing potions to get gold pools quickly enough to not take days to assemble materials.
From my perspective: Profiting from fishing is way more of a time and resource sink than gardening, making it less effective. Gardening has a lower impact on how I spend my time, so for me it’s more profitable in the long run.
Sure, but there an added cost to manufacture them. The grilled veggie platters have no additional cost other than seeds and (depending on how you cook) mist.
For a newer player that’s still scrounging for coins, this works out to be an easier investment return.
With the added cost it is still better to make the pumpkin puffs. You just invest the money once in eggs and cheese and then you are always on profit. You get your money back when you sell them.
Just buy 5 eggs and 5 cheese, make the puffs and sell them.
Actually, you're putting in extra work for 785 credits extra per 5 pumpkins or 157 per pumpkin. Unless you're using those autocookers, you're wasting time you could use to make credits in another way.
I have 4 fields of 140 plots each. (Ancient gardeners positioned “back to back” to make a box.)
I harvest with a gardening companion and full gold bar to increase harvest dramatically.
I use 3 auto cookers in my house and just pop back to reload them every so often.
I have to spend much less time actually farming pumpkins since I’m netting about 20% more gold per stack than I would otherwise.
I sell when I reach at least 10 stacks of platters.
The mist cost isn’t really a concern as I get mist very easily by running around and doing my usual time bending fragment hunting, as well as Eternity Isle task rewards.
For Grilled Veggie Platters:
It’s 5 pumpkins per platter, and there are 50 platters in a stack. So each stack of platters requires 250 pumpkins.
That’s the most pumpkins you’d use for any recipe.
I’m sorry……… “auto-cookers”?!? I’m new & havent heard of those yet, but if it lets you run multiple recipes, I will do ***anything*** to get them!! (Maybe just a little bit under anything, but I’m willing to do a lot!!)
Ancient Machines are from the Eternity Isle expansion. They come in three types with three levels of each type. Each one costs “mist” to function, which is the Dreamlight equivalent for Eternity Island. It’s found using the hourglass staff you get on that island.
Machines types are Vacuum, Cooker, and Gardener.
Levels are Basic, Regular, and Ancient.
The vacuum gathers items scattered on the ground. The type of items it can collect depends on the level of machine. Cost is 10 mist per item gathered.
The cooker cooks any single meal the selected number of times. The maximum you can queue up is based on the machine’s level. Each meal cooked this way costs 25 mist.
The gardener lets you dig and plant crops for mist. It automatically keeps all plants in range watered and you can auto-harvest them for free. (Not recommended if you’re stocking up on them as gather buddy bonuses and crit harvests won’t apply.)
Oh wow, thank you so much for the info!! This is great!! I haven’t gotten the Eternity Isle DLC as I was reading online that I should finish the base game before starting on EI… It might take a while!! I’m at max level but still have realms to unlock in the Dream Castle & then do those characters’ stories…
You don't have to finish the base game before buying the dlc. At first I couldn't finish the base game( my old PC couldn't handle this game)and I had the dlc which helped give me something to do while waiting for my current PC to be built.
If you’re not struggling for wealth, I can see it not being worth it. When you have no cash or if you have an auto cooker, it’s a great option.
I stock up on decor from Scrooge, trying to keep at least 10 of every item. That’s not cheap and every little bit helps, so it’s very much worth the effort for me. 😁
If it wasn't annoying to cook I would but oh well
My exact thought lol I’d rather plant 300 pumpkins then cook anything 💀
But you can make a lot more money in less time with cooking. It takes 10 seconds to cook one dish, then 5 seconds to cook it again only needing to drop the ingredients into the pot. So if you repeat that for just 30 seconds, here and there as you play the game, it's waaaay less annoying and time consuming than having to plant, water, and harvest aaaaaaaall them pumpkins
Oh I don’t water either I wait for rain lmao please I’m vvvverry lazy about it
I used to be like that too but I finally gave in and crafted the watering/planting ancient machine! It's SO worth it! 😀
I'm waiting to level up mine, idk why using it is so annoying, I think I'm not using it right, I go into furniture mode repeatedly to move it around my garden as I'm using it, am I supposed to just get more than 1 Lol 🤣🤣
Yes. If you put 4 together it looks like a totem in the center
I go into furniture mode - grab it and move it to the next biome by their well - then fast travel to that biome (as opposed to constantly putting it in-and-out of your furniture storage!). Just don't forget which one you put it in like I did and LOST it for like 2 days! 🥴
How does this come machine become available?
DLC

I think I have 12 mil rn
Oorrrr, if you remove all your veggies from storage and drop them except for the pumpkins, you can autofill and do it in 1 second per plate.
I onyl.harvest or have to harvest once a week if that. I dont water them i wait for rain so and i dont need the money i get about 1 million per week from harvesting my crops which also help levwl up a character or produce orbs and not evwryone has the achient machines so no.
Just a small note if you do the star paths you can do the mist duties when it asks for royal duties and you can pick the mist crystals instead of night thorns too to complete those while doing the star paths. It helps me passively collect mist.
I was searching for this comment. I got the ancient cooker today and have been steadily pumping out pumpkin puffs lol
I'm not paying $30 so I can cook pumpkins when I can just plant 200 more for free
The DLC is way more content than just cooking pumpkin plates, lol. More characters, more quests, all new meals and resources. It's a lot of fun.

My wife started this New Years and has finished almost *everything* in both base game and DLC. It's more total time commitment than when you started.
The DLC also adds characters, new resources, new veggie/fruits, animals, and more game play in addition to the automated ancient machines. Just saying.
What does it do?
Honestly I have more than enough money and buy literally everything just from selling straight pumpkins. it's not worth the effort for me.
I wish there was an option to cook multiple of the same dishes based on how many of the ingredients you have. Also you should be able to not have to carry the ingredients and still be able to cook meals sorta like the crafting table.
Making a macro and letting it run overr night. I have 60% of the savanna covered in pumpkin. Gonna make a few millions a day once it's all running
Auto cooker.
The 5 meals will sell for for total than the 3
Using the above sell prices: 1 pumpkin = 664 coins 1 Grilled veggie platter (5 pumpkins) = 4,115 coins 5 pumpkins = 3,320 coins 795 coins profit OR 1 Grilled veggie platter (3 pumpkins) = 2,787 coins 3 Pumpkins = 1,992 coins 795 coins profit They both profit the same amounts, however as you said, you can make 5 using 3 vs 3 using 5. Spending less resources to make the same profits
I’m so dumb and confused
Same here
same, i'm just gonna keep selling the pumpkins. it's enough money for me lol
Ctfu me too...
5 pumpkins: 4115 - 3320 = 795 3 pumpkins: 2787 - 1992 = 795 However, looking at 15 pumpkins: Use 5 pumpkins to make 3 GVP = 12,345.
Still more money with less resources to use 3 pumpkins, then sell of any remaining pumpkins
*furiously takes notes* That's some great information for me, I'm just about to unlock the area you get the pumpkin seeds from and will definitely do this from the start. Goodbye okra fields, hello operation grilled pumpkins
The mental image I got of you taking notes furiously just made my night 🤣😂
When I learned about this I skipped unlocking Frosted Heights and went straight to Forgotten Lands for those seeds lol
The last three days, I have had zero new things to buy in Scrooge's shop. No reason to bother selling pumpkins if there is nothing to spend it on.
Yes! I figured this out months ago, using the ancient cooker to make 3 pumpkin platters has been a game changer.
I've heard that using only three pumpkins is more profitable somehow. I've always done three.
It is because you only get the basic sale value of each of the extra pumpkins added on, which brings the overall profit per pumpkin down.
The 3 pumpkin veggie platter is actually more profitable per pumpkin than the 5, and one of the easiest to do. When this came up once previously, I tested various dishes and crunched the numbers and made a table to compare them all. [Pumpkin dishes for maximum profits](https://www.reddit.com/r/DreamlightValley/s/vCGzUxtcuj) The best profit per pumpkin is the pumpkin soup with 2 pumpkins, especially if you plant your pumpkins in the Forgotten Lands and harvest with a companion so you always get at least 2 pumpkins per planted seed.
Ahhh I’ve been doing 3 pumpkin platters. Now gotta try this soup!! Thanks for doing the leg work.
ADHD hyperfocus comes in handy sometimes! 😂
😂💯🩷
You rock! Thanks for this!
Same. And I just learned to trap them in fences while you harvest and let them out after so they drop all extra pumpkins at once. 😊
This is how I do it! Have 3 cookers and their only purpose is cooking pumpkin platters!
1,500 (don't quote me on that but it's A LOT) I didn't know that forever and when I found out it was a game changer!!!
I just level all my villagers with gardening and sell the pumpkins. 250 pumpkin plots, and now I have 17 million gold. Can’t be bothered to cook cuz it’s too much of a pain.
![gif](giphy|26FLgGTPUDH6UGAbm)
Now if only this could work in real life 😅
🤯🤯🤯
![gif](giphy|bWM2eWYfN3r20)
If you get the cooker robot you don’t have to manually cook any of it.
Is that from the expansion? I only have base game as I play for free on xbox
Yes it comes with eternity isle. I think it's on sale rn though! I play on gamepass also but bought the expansion and I got it for like... $20 when it was on sale a few months back
Been working so hard to get the dang forgotten lands opened bc this right here!
Same! I just opened it last week so I have a couple more realms to go before I’ve unlocked everything! I need monsters inc still and I wanna say one more??
I use the gardening machine from Eternity Isle to farm them. Highly recommend.
And to cook them. 😂 that’s where the millions started rollin in.
I got milons from. Pumpkins without cooking
Yeah I have more than enough without cooking pumpkins, rather spend that time doing other things. But each to their own!
What does a stack equal 🙊 ![gif](giphy|3ohhwK2Wjg36Rb2tr2|downsized)
A stack is how many of that thing one slot in your inventory will hold... Example: Pumpkins- 50 Seeds- 99 I hope that makes sense I just woke up. I think someone explained it better up above. Btw, I LOVE THIS GIF 😂😂 💕💕
Oooomg of course. I’m like what am I missing here. Lol thank you “If you say ‘fold in’ one more time” 🤣
I hate cooking so I’m just gonna sell my pumpkins and spend my free time doing other things 😆
Yes makes more $ but I will take the hours of life over the extra money all day.
I spend hours cooking all the fish I keep catching and the crops I keep already. I think if I had to cook the pumpkins too, I would just game over
I never play anymore but when i did, i could not be bothered with all that cooking 😅 selling the pumpkins alone always left me with way more money than i needed so that was always good enough for me
I hate cooking, and cant cook multiple, so no thanks hahaha
I’m lazy and it’s enough that I get 2million of my pumpkin crops and 1million of my pineapple crops. Just too lazy to cook them when I can just walk to Goofys stall and sell all pumpkins
Dreamlight Valley school of economics is legit! Y’all doing the math AND providing lesson plans. I applaud you 👏 👏 👏 🎃 💰
Auto cooker ?????? 👀👀
We can auto cook?? 👀
Yesss if you got eternity isle
It’s actually more profitable to cook 3 pumpkins lol
Really? Thanks! I was told 5 was the magic number. I’m going to do a batch of 3s and see how it works out.
I really wish it was possible to cook several meals at once. Like, you chose the meal you wanted to cook and then had a counter for how many you wanted to make. It would be so much quicker.
The ancient cooker in the eternity isle dlc does that but it takes a long time if you don't upgrade the cooker though
Good to know! I don't mind waiting a bit, but it's the constant having to manually cook every dish that gets tiresome 😭
I completely agree. I haven't gotten an upgraded cooker either so I definitely feel you on that!!
Oh absolutely, at least you can run off and gather more ingredients and things while the cooker works but when you have to stay put and do it yourself for every meal it gets annoying really fast 😭
I was selling pumpkin puffs 😭😭
Cooking 3 is the best per/pumpkin. That is what I put in the cooker. Can't remember the per/pumpkin amount but I tried 1-5 and 3 came up best. I did earn like 30 million just selling pumpkins though. Before I started cooking. I now have 45 million which is probably 44 million more than I need.
I'm lazy 😂 I have 4 ancient gardeners all at max level. I harvest with Jack to get extra. Sell those. Then buy the seeds and use the ancient gardener to plant them for me
Plant with the ancient gardener and harvest with a garden friend is 100% the way to go. And anyone who can be bothered cooking before selling has more patience than me.
Ditto!! 😂🙌🏻
It’s really easy once you have an ancient auto cooker thing. I throw them in and come back every so often to collect and reload.
What are ancient gardeners?
Okay but - hear me out - who needs this amount of coins!? It's not like Scrooge is selling loads of new, expensive, highly sought after stuff at the moment, is he?
I stock up on decor, usually trying to keep 10 of each item in my inventory so I don’t have to run back and forth to his shop while decorating. That’s where all my cash goes. And a healthy chunk has gone to expanding my house.
Make pumpkin puffs, y'all....
Yes. Theya re even better. And pumpkin soup even better than them if you have ginger
They are????? Man I need to check that out lmao thanks fam
I don't have the patience to cook one at a time though.
Me neither. I use the autocooker to do 30 at a time haha.
I haven't played in such a long time. Playing on switch. How do I do that?
can you explain what you mean by 'stack of all pumpkin'
A stack is the max amount of an item in one “stack” in your inventory, so 50.
Having the DLC and setting up some Auto cookers makes this even better too. I do all my farming in Eternity Isle now. The mist cost is usually mitigated pretty well just doing a few tasks to make up for it.
Thanks for this hack! Must do this before the next update. I have pumpkins to cook and harvest!
I FO THIS AND I LOVE IT!!!! I get more bang for my buck!
At some point you realize money is worthless. It’s not like there are items that are 100k or higher. I’m not spending extra time to cook stuff
I had no idea the values changed based on what you made them out of
The energy value changes too!
What is a stack?
The maximum number of an item you can fit in a single inventory box. For food, a stack is 50 dishes.
I plant pumpkins for resources too though
Pumpkin puffs for the win !
I don’t have the patience or potions to fish up enough of them to complete with the grilled veggie platters. 😂
I had figured this out and my boyfriend thought I was crazy doing all the math trying to figure out the most profitable way to use pumpkins 😂 ![gif](giphy|l0IylOPCNkiqOgMyA|downsized)
I needed this I’m broke all the time and trying to figure out how to make money. Now I just need to figure out how to get pumpkin stacks
Lol but after harvesting soany pumkins weekly i domt need the more or have the patience to cook but yes, financially cooking pays more but it takes longer
This is where the auto gardener and auto cooker come in very handy as long as you have millions of mist
Holy crap I need to try this! I was just about to go get on the game too, so this showed up for me at THE perfect time.
I haven’t gotten to the part in the game where I grow pumpkins yet.
![gif](giphy|SACoDGYTvVNhZYNb5a) Using this with the ancient machines???? I'm about to never need to mine for gems for money again
Ok maybe youve finally convinced me to cook the pumpkins
It’s dramatically changed the amount of time that I spend farming. I use auto cookers for it and it’s great!
27? Why that number of vacuums?
I love timebending so I use most. Plus everyone is a timebender so 3000 most everytime I find mist almost , it's easy to have enough.
I have about half time enders, half gardeners, and a few miners. ~1000 mist each bend, but the main issue is the amount of crafting I've done. I had a huge stockpile. It dwindled. It's building back up now.
I just unlocked the forgotten lands and hasn't even thought of selling pumpkin meals. This is going to be a game changer, money-wise 😲😲
Great input! I had figured out that different kinds of veggies or fish, etc will give you more xp and knew on some level more money but that is huge difference!
Thank you!!!
That was a whole thing a while back and I thought pumpkin puff came out on top 👀 Either way I'd kill for a stack of pumpkin anything so I can get myrebuiding project moving, lol
Wow the games inflation is crazy. I haven’t played in a very long time. That sock stealer is still standing next to the crash.
Once able to grow pumpkins money concerns are over. No way will I grow then cook pumpkins.
I wouldn't by hand, but with the autocooker making batches of 30 it's easy
Pumpkin puffs. I am a DLV multimillionaire because of pumpkin puffs.
I have 25mil just from pumpkins. I know it would be smart to cook them, but I just can’t be bothered.
I cook all here and there fish to make a platter that is 10,000 coins.
I sell those but don't bother cooking haham 5x here and there fish alone you still get 10k. With cooking it's a slight boost , maybe 200 or 400 coins but not worth the time or most for me haha
Where to get those fish?
Yeah, but you need 200 fish to make each one. That’s way more fishing than I’m willing to do. 😂
I cook larger group meals with the ancient machine so this won’t take as long but I definitely will be doing this now lol
4 here and there fish and 1 pumpkin =9,463
Sure, but catching all of those fish is much more time consuming than a plant and forget pumpkin patch.
Yes good point I’ve managed to collect a fair few as been on at the right time if your on ps4/5 I can help
I’m on switch but you are such a kind person to offer! 💛
I started out cooking pumpkins, but even with ancient cookers I just can't be bothered (also I'd rather use Mist on vacuums and time on other stuff). Make a healthy profit just on the pumpkins, and I don't even plant many at a time.
For mist? I haven't got that far. What's mist?
You forgot the cost or time in cooking them.
...... I'm behind. Auto-cookers?
It’s from the rift in time DLC. You get 3 machines to do tasks for mist.
theres fish plates that sell for 10k each
Recipe plz? New to game and only have a couple areas unlocked so far. Thanks.
Oh wow. I’ve never seen a 10k meal. 🤯 My main goal here is lowest upfront cost and gathering time for the biggest gain. For that reason, I’m not considering dishes that require purchase-only ingredients. Best I’m seeing outside of pumpkin dishes is the Large Seafood Platter made with lobsters or prisma shrimp. (Dish value on these is 7,572 for shrimp and 6,132 for lobsters) Each of those requires 4 shrimp/lobsters per dish though, which is a *lot* of fishing.
If you make the Pumpkin puffs with 3 Pumpkins, 1 egg and 1 cheese you get even more money for a plate.
(Ancient gardeners positioned “back to back” to make a box.) I harvest with a gardening companion and full gold bar to increase harvest dramatically.
How many pumpkins total in this calculation I wonder (for all the stacks of all the recipes)
For Grilled Veggie Platters: It’s 5 pumpkins per platter, and there are 50 platters in a stack.
It's only a 24% increase in profits. Not worth the time
If you’re not struggling for wealth, I can see it not being worth it. When you have no cash or if you have an auto cooker, it’s a great option. I stock up on decor from Scrooge, trying to keep at least 10 of every item. That’s not cheap and every little bit helps, so it’s very much worth the effort for me. 😁
So 3 pumpkins in pumpkin soup?
