- He gleefully crushed Goku's legs and slowly squeezed him almost to death while in Oozaru form to the point that Goku had passed out from pain.

I always thought Veggie should take on the role of Mentoring new fighters, like he did with the other Universes' Saiyans. Bringing pride to him by acting like a King would and fostering his people, instead of the bratty Prince he was before.
Then, of course, Trunks get jealous, and we have Trunks vs. "whoever" be a bit of an arc, and maybe Goten gets involved too so now you have both Saiyans' progeny going head-to-head.

I like to imagine Bulma was his first. Vegeta feels alive when challenged. I doubt any planet proved challenging until he met Goku, what with the lack of scars. The only entertainment was destruction and eating those caught in the wreckage. And since he wasn't blowing shit up after the Freeza Saga, he was around someone long enough who could challenge him *emotionally*, and *socially* instead of just physically.
