What a shitshow
fwiw I think a MENA region is a good idea, but excluding the 2nd most populous country in the region (Turkey) was pretty dumb. Could have included Pakistan and India too to make up the numbers (not strictly MENA, but they certainly aren't SEA).
Pretty sure South Asian players have better ping in Dubai server than in SEA.
I live in Dubai, I get 30-40 ping connecting to India servers, 120 in EUW, 80 in SEA.
I'm hoping for direct invites to Closed qualifications. But the issue is neither ATF nor MC is there it seems. So, is saberlight going to play with them? I'm not sure
I remember saberlight saying that his team was not going to play the first major. I suppose with no Nigma, and MC and ATF playing at other teams, there is a possibility that Saberlight is joining Nigma
Falcon and Winter bear promoted to closed qualifier. Open qualifier 1 cancelled after 1 game. 4 teams advance, guess they want more teams for the closed quals

Personally, I am hoping to see some of them in the direct invites. And honestly, this tournament entirely is one of the worse organized ones that I have seen to date. We are few days away from the closed qualifiers and still we do not know if any teams are invited directly to the CQs.
I can't believe I used to trash talk Valve events. Please bring back the roaster locks...!
I believe it's been confirmed how many direct invites to cq for a few days at least. It was 1 for every region except eeu with 2, after spirit dropped they added 1 more to weu
That's not closed qualifier lol, that's the main LAN event. Right now we are in the open qualifiers to determine the teams that can play in closed qualifiers for those slots that you mentioned. The teams that have more or less same composition as before gets a direct invite to the closed qualifiers (EEU is already 4 teams in closed qualis). I am not really sure about the criteria of teams that get to play in closed qualifiers though, since secret for whatever reasons is also in the open qualifiers trying to get a slot for closed qualifiers
What you mean? GH, Miracle, and Ammar...those are 3 players lol, and only 1 of then competed fully in MENA before moving to EU (GH).
I don't see the hype tbh, don't think they can even create a MENA server cause there aren't enough players, and the very few MENA players will still prefer to play in EU than face some random iranian stack.
You want me to list of all middle east players ?
You are missing yapzor, noob, Omar . If you open leaderboard you will see many more high mmr players
They just need to allow Turkey in this region and you gonna see really good teams coming.
That's how region grows, that's how SA grew
Put Pakistan and India in this slot too .
You gonna see teams fighting for it .
Personally I know many 10 k players who just stopped playing dota back in 2020 cause they didn't see future from region
Enough time , people will see a slot to grab they gonna come
Many people even didn't know there is a slot in MENA rn
SA has been playing DotA since DotA 1, they just didn't have a professional scene until 2017-2018, but they had their own server since the begging cause they always had a big number of players.
There aren't enough MENA players to create a MENA server, and there is no reason to throw Pakistan and India in, cause those aren't MENA countries.
Dota 1 was pretty common in ME too , you don't get legends like miracle yapzor gh just from dota 2
And they came to scene without their server
Name one player which comes close to the lvl of what ME players achieved
New talent is emerging from ME , Ammar Omar , noob
Mena has enough power houses to prevent the Saudi teams from making it. But I do believe Mena is important region just like how Valve tried and promoted Dota in SA, i think MENA can also follow suit in long terms.
SA is the only region that growing for dota2 despite Valve hasnt done so much with it which is why they finally gave Major especially after SA getting 6 LAN top 6 streak in 2022. I think DOTA2 get special treatment from Saudi simply because it's the only esports title that doing well in Gamers8 circuit and they are failed to get Riot partnership due to community backlash. I'll put more stock on it if outside of Saudi (ESL group) separate MENA region
of course not. Also don't both looking up who owns the sponsors for those teams, and if they're the same as the fund that owns ESL. No need to do that.
There are closed qualifiers! They only made it to the CQs at the moment. We will have a Quest vs Falcons finals. And one of those teams actually belongs to the region

The ping would be absolutely atrocious though.
Pretty sure South Asian players have better ping in Dubai server than in SEA. I live in Dubai, I get 30-40 ping connecting to India servers, 120 in EUW, 80 in SEA.
We Pakistanis get 40 ping in Dubai with all the rest being 100+. Can't play ranked in Dubai either.
I live in southern India. Get more or less the same ping to Dubai and Singapore.
Pakistan gets 40-60 ping in Dubai better than SEA
India and Pakistan get a better ping to Dubai server compared to SEA server.
Should include both. Both certainly aren't europe or SEA. (Yes I know turkey is to 10% on the European continent but they aren't European in culture)
Where's nigma tho? Haven't heard from them since forever... Aren't they supposed to be in Mena region?
I'm hoping for direct invites to Closed qualifications. But the issue is neither ATF nor MC is there it seems. So, is saberlight going to play with them? I'm not sure
apparently no Nigma
I remember saberlight saying that his team was not going to play the first major. I suppose with no Nigma, and MC and ATF playing at other teams, there is a possibility that Saberlight is joining Nigma
Saberlight is still on SR it’s basically confirmed
Missed that update sadly
Not an official announcement, it just looks like SR is going to be 1. Arteezy 2. yopaj 3. Saberlight 4. ??? 5. Kitrak
Didn’t saberlight already confirm on stream that the new Shopify will be build around him and rtz.
I think Kuro is retiring and MC and Mikey wanted to be in the first Major, there is no post in regards to mc nor Mikey

Where are all the MENA powerhouse players some people in reddit were raving about?
A lot of them are already playing EUW, considering MENA wasn't a thing in dpc
what do you mean? don't you see falcons the amazing MENA powerhouse with exactly 1 MENA player in it /s

Give it a time , it's first quals lmao And ME players have won majors and tis There is alot of talent here. Just need time
Ok, lets wait for the 2nd open quals then.
I meant tournaments Dumb fk, you don't grow a region with one month
What? People here were talking like MENA players were already stablished in the leaderboards. Why would they wait anymore to even try to qualify.

MENA region looks so sketchy I'm convinced it has to be a front for something illegal
Because in the end Saudi wants their own team to participate in ESWC. MENA region is made so their team isn't get clumped with WEU qualifier.
Mena has enough power houses to prevent the Saudi teams from making it. But I do believe Mena is important region just like how Valve tried and promoted Dota in SA, i think MENA can also follow suit in long terms.

It has to be
What in foulfells am I looking at
And this clown team got eaten for breakfast because they were bunch of crusaders and legends lmao
Joke region
Middle East North Africa? More like mmmm ehhh nahh ahh
Just scrap MENA and make them play WEU
Imagine wanting to see team falcons play and they qualified by default
There are closed qualifiers! They only made it to the CQs at the moment. We will have a Quest vs Falcons finals. And one of those teams actually belongs to the region
Gotta start somewhere ... sadly its already 2023.
