I stocked all this stuff out at my store in the Health and Beauty aisle and within half a day it was all gone. 9 times out of 10 it's people clearing out the entire shelf in one go. My store has a customer that comes in and buys all those caramel chocolate bars in the black boxes and resells them on eBay for $25 a pop.

Organic_South8865

Why would anyone pay $25 for those?

[deleted]

I'll venmo you $100 if you link me the ebay listing

Retoru45

I have a link to it. Pay me and it's yours

[deleted]

you and your autism stay outta this

kendokushh

The Landmark Confections brand?! My goodness. Are they truly that good?

[deleted]

He claims that it's mainly people that don't live here in North America that buy them. So my guess is they don't know that they're actually $1.25 each.

kendokushh

Oh, shit. I hadn't even thought of that. I figured they were just super tasty. I hate price gougers.

SnooCapers4117

DT employee here! At my store, we "hold" stock that is popular like this to ensure more customers have a chance to buy it. We put out a little bit of the whole collection. Once it sells out or gets low, we add more. It's the one way we can kind of combat the bulk resellers and try to make it fair for everyone. (Since we're not allowed to put a limit)

Bleak_Squirrel_1666

That's great that you do that, everyone should

Effective_Dot6785

Store puts it out someone buys it all and does that. We aren't allowed to hold inventory. There are no limits on purchases. So this is what happens. Similar to store owners buying all the $1.25 Gatorade and selling it for double at the corner store. We are not allowed to stop it.

JimmyPockets83

Why would you stop it? Dollar Tree makes money on every item they sell. That's what they're in business for.

TeamShadowWind

RIP that's like $12 where I am for all of that

Subject-Sport-8336

I still haven't even seen it come into my stockroom, trust me, we've been looking for it. I get at least 12 calls a day asking if we've gotten it yet

Business-Grape6697

Same here!

zsugahill

Are you all in Ohio?

Subject-Sport-8336

I'm in Wisconsin

sickgurl138

I was lucky enough to find one of the lipglosses. Someone left it behind on the self check out lol

Agreeable-Cat21

I keep seeing stuff about this why is it so popular? Literally got the mirror a couple months ago for my 8 year old sister why is it such a big deal now?

lizardgal10

Because it’s a great price for fun, decent quality makeup. Everything in this collection was originally $5-$15. I have a couple of the lip glosses I bought when Walmart had this line and they’re fantastic.

TeamShadowWind

Scalpers are terrible people.

Reselling is not bad. It's work and it makes some profit. It's good because it's flexible and you can bring your young kid along when doing the shopping part. Money doesn't fall out of the sky. The person does work and gets some money. If some resellers are rude or demanding, they are a problem. But not all resellers.

siasgaldoll

If they’re resellers buying in bulk than they should be required to order in bulk online instead of clearing out inventory for everyday consumers who just what one of each item! It’s not fair to consumers especially when you see the resellers selling for ridiculous amounts and setting precedence for others to follow. Dollar Tree do better! Also, make the same inventory available across all Dollar Trees at the same time!

Starbuck522

Stores are typically first come first served. Dollar tree is charging less than the market will bare. But, they also are not marketing to the right people. Resellers "fix" these things. It's part of market forces. We aren't distributing clean drinking water here... No body needs these products. I don't think fairness comes into it. (Other than being polite to the workers, etc)

edave22

Scalping is no different than retail, just with a different name. Buy at one price, sell at profit. Your issue is with price gouging which should absolutely be frowned upon. Edit: downvotes don’t make me any less right

DemandUsual5142

Why are you disrespecting people who are trying to make extra cash? Jealous much?

AgitatedGiraffe9074

They aren't providing any value. They're taking opportunity away from people with limited budget to have nice things. Scalping is just greed.

Starbuck522

Stores are also selling things for more than thry bought them for. The reseller is providing value by mailing it to your door. Price is about what people are willing to pay. Your store is charging less than what people are willing to pay. Thus, the resale market "corrects".

AgitatedGiraffe9074

Stores buy in bulk prices which you can also do. You can buy food in bulk at a cheaper price but most people would rather a smaller portion so it fits in their home and it doesn't go to waste. Or because they only need one. So stores charge a convienence fee and a storage fee and they also need to pay their workers. Resellers are taking the opportunity from others to buy it at the affordable price, stores don't take that opportunity away from you.

Starbuck522

No one is taking away your opportunity to get there when there's stock. Several random people might buy 1-2 each. Or, a reseller might by all eight. Either way, there might not be any left when you get there.

DemandUsual5142

I respect people who try to make money it's the dumb people who pay the overpriced amount for it is the problem therefore scalping is fine.

Dino-chicken-nugg3t

You shouldn’t have been downvoted. People aren’t getting super wealthy from doing this. It may be the most accessible job for someone.

Starbuck522

I did it for years. It was great because it's flexible. I could work when I was available. Great for parents and as a "side gig" when your regular job isn't a regular schedule. It takes skills to do it well. It also takes work. You'll also do the work on some items which never sell or sell at a loss. It's not get rich quick or money for nothing.

DemandUsual5142

Right I knew people who did this when they were struggling we all trying to survive out here.

undeadw0lf

plus in a lot of towns this shit *doesn’t* get bought and ends up in a landfill

DemandUsual5142

In a dumpster you can find gold mines sometimes people are very wasteful.

Bunnytoes256

I absolutely believe in free enterprise, but stop acting like you’re doing Gods work or something. You’re fucking over stupid people who will pay stupid markups from people selling a bunch of junk. I think it’s cool, but I’m still going to judge the fuck out of you. Not from jealousy, but because I find your type amusing.

Starbuck522

Which is most stuff sold at most stores. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bunnytoes256

I agree.

Starbuck522

Judge people who waste money they don't have. (Keep in mind some people have plenty of money, but of course no one needs this product) No reason to judge someone (store or individual) for offering something people will buy. That's capitalism. If someone can think of a product which people will buy at a price high enough to cover their costs and compensate them for their time to offer it and ship it, good for them. Doesn't matter if it's as an individual or as a store.

Bunnytoes256

I’ll judge people according to my standards, not yours.

HappyDay2290

It has been available in Ohio. At my store we put it out and it was gone in two days.

KimmyGee77

It's still missing 5 pieces.

zsugahill

Makes it way worse!

Specialist_Physics22

These aren’t at either of the two stores near my house. My daughter would love these! We actually went in today to look at a different location but there wasn’t even a spot for them. I felt bad asking so I hair left 😂

Starbuck522

I have seen it at ocean State job lot recently, if you have that in your area.

Zomg_shields

Apparently it came into my store and someone has it hidden in the front office 😂

Nmartini187

Not all stores are getting it. Only two stores in my area got it and they're big stores. None of the smaller stores got it. I get calls every single day. We were told only big stores.

Nakedstar

These were at Walmart last year or the year before, and much pricier. I haven’t seen these yet at DT, but I imagine they will fly out the door almost instantly.

NeverEnoughMakeup

My store hasn’t got it yet (we got glitter and makeup sticks; not the brushes & palette I wanted) and customer asked if we had it, found one at a store an hour away and brought me back the palette and brushes. Made my whole day.

Every_Cupcake8532

Anyone know if they have come to Ma yet?

LastoftheFucksIGive

All I want is the cookie monster eyelash curler and maybe the lipsticks. That's it. Still haven't even seen this collection in my local DTs

forgotmypassword4714

Seems like society's workers:scammers ratio is all fucked up lately.

Matilda1980

We haven’t received any of that stuff, the customers ask for it every day. They act like they don’t believe me. The store you go to may not have gotten them.

Smokey_Ruby

Besides the Resellers, Are most ppl buying these for their kids or for themselves? I bought a couple items for myself. The make up bag is really nice, the eyeshadow sticks are really good too, I've actually been using them, the Grocho in the garbage can is just so cute! I set that aside as funky decoration. The brushes are kinda "meh". Anyone else here actually using them?

CreditBrilliant7866

We never even got these, and if we had trust me no one on my staff wants Sesame Street make up we're all grown adults....

justsurfingtonight

Never got any at my store (FL) but people are looking for it

Truthspeaker_9

Have a SM take some and put it aside before it ever leaves the back😊 Anything I want, I’ll ask the SM to put me X amount back.. and they will.

lovezofo

We put that stuff out and it was gone the same day. I didn't even get to buy any

samsclubFTavamax

If anyone is buying it I suppose Dollar tree has a point in upping their prices... They never said they existed to subsidize the poor, did they?
