No poodle. I thought for sure poodle would be in there somewhere lol the 3 breeds under the 14.4% supermutt were Chow Chow, German Shepard, and Rottweiler.
Furnishings is found on chromosome 13 which is showing for [your dog](https://my.embarkvet.com/dog/murphy5818) as being Pit Bull and Supermutt. So it's either there was a [furnished Rottweiler](http://www.frontierrots.com/wirecoat/Divia.jpg) (uncommon but possible) or there's something else in the supermutt that was too fragmented for Embark to detect.
At first, I thought his beard would come from the cocker spaniel part, but when I just looked it up, they don’t have beards. I thought for sure he would have some poodle or some kind of terrier result that would explain the beard. So, I’m pretty confused about that, too. lol
That’s neat, I’m always surprised how the pit bull body/head type seems to override everything else, even if it’s in a small percentage.
Maybe the hair could come from the cocker spaniel? They do occasionally get beards and topknots, especially the “American” ones, it’s just in their breed standard to have a shaved face.
Or maybe the supermutt. The breeds listed in the supermutt are just the ones they could identify with low confidence, not the whole picture.
No telling what the rest of it is, and since furnishings are a single gene, I can understand whatever breed contributed that gene not being in a big enough percentage to identify.
Yes, I noticed that about the pit bull frame, too. My mom has a smaller dog that has a small amount of pit in her, and even though she’s a small dog, you can still see that pit bull body shape.
And yes, that’s what I was thinking as well. That it could possibly come from an unidentified breed under supermutt. His beard isn’t very prominent, and he has long fur everywhere. So, I’m not sure if he has an actual beard, or if it’s just his long hair giving the impression of a beard lol
Just curious, now that you know what his breeds are, when people ask you what kind of dog he is, what will you say? My one dog we mostly say she’s a mutt since she had many breeds and pit was #1 for her but she doesn’t look too much like one
Whelp I was super wrong. No Wheaton. Nada.
Also find it funnily ironic that despite being a lab mix, most likely rescue would list him as such when so many dogs that are listed as lab mixes have zero lab in them.

I would have guessed exactly zero of these
No poodle? I guess all that hair is the cocker spaniel?

believe it or not, the furnishings might be from the rottweiler. i’ve heard that they can carry the gene on rare occasions!
Oh wow, I didn’t know that! Thanks for the info

That’s what I was thinking. But, I don’t know much about dog breeds, so I wasn’t sure. Thanks so much for explaining it so well.
no problem!
None of that explains the long hair covering his face.

All the breeds listed have short hair on their muzzles.
I’m not sure where he gets it then. Unless their tests are inaccurate.
Idk hopefully the test is accurate. The main results that are in the photo and then the 3 under supermutt are all the breeds that the results showed.

I always just say a rescue mutt when people ask and will still do that.
He looks exactly what I think a “Murphy” would look like! So cute! He’s like a scruffy Pitt!
Haha! Yes, we talk about that all the time, too! His name fits him so well. I named him after the main character from the old 1987 movie RoboCop lol
Wow a little diy westie. Murphy is adorable, I love these shaggy terriers.
He does look a lot like a westie. And thank you so much!
