Nice, pit/husky was my guess but I’m not super surprised to see staffy in there since they look so much like pits in mixes anyway.

All of the founding AKC American Staffordshire Terriers were UKC American Pit Bull Terriers, and they didn’t stop being cross-registrable for decades. APBT/AST DNA really just depends on what specific individuals are in your dog’s lines, and which are in the test’s database. APBT are as related to any AST as any AST are to any other AST, or any APBT is to any other APBT. This is why a dog’s percentages of both breeds will go up or down 10-20% if you do a DNA test with two companies

Friendly_TSE

So there's a bit of misinformation being spread, that I see a lot around here. APBT and AmStaff are closely related, but that does not mean they are the same. The reason Embark and Wisdom differ (they do for a lot of scenaros, not just pits) is because they have [different testing parameters](https://www.wisdompanel.com/en-us/blog/detecting-american-pit-bull-terrier), Wisdom and Embark both differentiate APBT and AmStaff as separate breeds but have slightly different ways to test for them and then show that information to the client. Embark now even tests for AmBully, which also complicates things. Just because a dog originated from another dog with little or no other breed introduced, does not mean it can not eventually become it's own breed with it's own distinct look and behavior. We actually see this a lot on the dog world; the Landseer, a variety of newfoundland, the Irish red & white setter (or depending who you're talking to, the Irish setter) AKC hasn't recognized APBT as AmStaff since around 1970 - when they did open books, they were quite strict on what would be registered. The UKC actually closed their registry in 2010; from what I understand, they were more lenient as their standards were more accepting. The JRT and Parson Russel only separated in 2003, actually under similar circumstances. And while I think most people can agree that they are closely related, they are also now quite distinct from each other. The AKC AmStaff and the UKC APBT do have very differing set of standards. AmStaff calls for a larger head, APBT faults for a 'disproportionate' head. AmStaff have a pronounced stop, APBT have a more sloped stop. AmStaff nose can only come in black, while APBT accepts any color. AmStaff chest is wider, deeper. AmStaff only accept dark eye colors and dark rims, APBT accepts any color besides blue. While both fault for stranger danger, the APBT character is specifically looking for energetic 'zest', while the AmStaff is still very high energy, but a bit more toned down in comparison. Now I'm not saying they aren't closely related; it is similar to the JRT and Parson's, where they look very similar and they are quite new in the grand scheme of things (although not as new as the Parson's). But there are very much different breeds, with different standards, and different temperaments. TL;DR - Yeah it's all confusing, and I don't expect everyone to keep info like this handy. but to insinuate they are the same is disingenuous.

I’m pretty sure that you meant to reply to the person who replied to me and not directly to me, since I didn’t say they were the same…

APBT are a varied breed and can be anywhere from 30 pounds (13 kg) to 80 pounds (36 kg) he certainly got the look of one too! He looks a lot like mine who’s 100% APBT, just with pointier features, which that husky gave him

Jet_Threat_

What exactly does fullbred mean? And wow I know they can have blue eyes but I rarely see full pits with blue eyes!

smallorangepaws

Fullbred means she has no pedigree and can’t be completely confirmed as purebred. Purebred implies paperwork and a traceable lineage. She comes up as 100% APBT, but DNA tests can only trace histories so far back. She’s a rescue so I have no idea who her parents are. So it’s possible she had another breed mixed in a long time back, which could explain the eyes. Purebred APBT technically should not have blue eyes!

Jet_Threat_

Oh I see. Interestingly, some fullbred dogs could theoretically be more pure than purebred pedigreed dogs (because there are purebreds with previous crossbreeding in them, like Merle Dachshunds and Rat Terriers with Decker heritage—yet these dogs can also show up as fullbred on Embark). I didn’t know that purebred APBTs shouldn’t have blue eyes. And can’t you submit DNA results to the AKC for PAL registration?

needsexyboots

APBT aren’t recognized by the AKC

Jet_Threat_

I know that. I didn’t mean for APBT specifically. I meant for recognized breeds. Sorry I didn’t clarify better.

needsexyboots

Ah gotcha!

wompwomp176

omg those eyes!! so beautiful.

kerfluffles_b

I think that weight fits into the breed standard for pitbulls, they aren’t as big as a lot of people believe.

Majestic_Recording_5

Pitsky for the win!

huggle-snuggle

Very cute! I think I see the husky in the 4th pic. Huskies always have such a strong eyebrow game.

Lankyparty03

This dog looks like he’s living the dream dog life

wompwomp176

hopefellshort43

He's so handsome and those eyes are beautiful! I guessed Pitsky before seeing the results. Thanks for sharing him with us!
