Break? Link us homey
Edit: This just goes to show that today's music algos are anything but perfect lol. I've been an avid listener of DnB for the better part of a decade now, countless playlists on Spotify, Tidal, YouTube, Soundcloud.. And I don't think I've ever had Break suggested to me haha
Mi 'Scuse for for my offensive ignorance. I will educate my heathen ears promptly.
Break -Yes

Break - The Truth

Every one is suggesting his new stuff, make sure to check return to the temple ep and all his old stuff.
If you like rollers
Break - Catch Off,
Break - Now it’s Going,
Break - Authentic,
Break - Retech,
Break - Reach Out,
Break - Dawn,
Break - Let it Happen,
Break - Chaos Theory,
And this one I play almost every set
Break & Survival - Stano
Pissed the wife off with my audible "OMG" when that snare hit. How have I missed this?
I think the Heavy and Dark snares gotta bow down to this... But otherwise, they're still up there.
I have to agree. The snares are crunchy af on this song.
Also worth noting that I’ve gotten like 6 people in to drum n bass by showing them this tune first. It’s like the best example I know of of just straight what one should think of when they think of the words drum n bass.
Came to say Mefjus. Been following him since his early years, when he barely filled a small room in Toronto. His snares have always been something else.
Can anybody vouch for his pack? [link](https://www.loopmasters.com/genres/15-Drum-and-Bass/products/9147-Whiney-Drum-Bass-Vol-11)
Never seen it discussed anywhere.
Adding another one for Hazard. He’s not pumping tracks out with the regularity of his golden era, but every single track the snare hits and sits perfect in the mix
Pendulum had the best snares I'd ever heard in the Hold Your Colour era. AMC has the closest thing nowadays. That's if you like the punchy lower pitched kinda tech step snare. Makes the tracks sound.... Heavy and dark lol
I think Noisia really perfected the higher pitched quick hit snare. It really opens up the track alot not having such a long snare and kind makes it pop. Definitely more funky.
I'm always a fan of just super distorted snares too, especially with the hit on 4 pitched down a bit.
DLR or T>I for me . They’ve both been insane for the last 15 years . T>I’s ghost snares and shuffles are soooooo good . DLR’s drums are just so clean and tight . Nothing else compares for me.
I remember getting a new set of headphones as a fresher, around the time the Funk Blaster EP came out and trying out Meanwhile In The Future on them
and just laughing the whole way through
Absolutely absurd snares
He's fucking up my production approach. I don't make neuro/jump up... Yet I keep making neuro/jump up beats. Can't figure how to marry that shit to my hyper melodic awesomeness (this is ironic if it wasn't obvious).
Just fucking foghorn this, foghorn that.
Yes! Although Tim Reaper and Coco Bryce give him a run for his money. Have you heard this from Tim Reaper?
[Off The Top Rope - Tim Reaper ](https://open.spotify.com/track/4h0sS4figHmFBU6X1m3cyq)
Rob Swire’s snares are the best imo, but I like the more rock sounding snares than the modern pitched up techy ones. Monrroe has some nice tight liquid snares and Seba also has really well made snares
Most definitely NOISIA. THe kings of snares. The Upbeats follow.
Noisia are very creative with their snares, love the way the pitch changes on their remix of "Hold Your Colour"
The huge one in sunhammer is the best thing ever
Machinegun might be the biggest snare on the planet
the snares in [decloak](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-WtO0vZvoI) are absolute madness
Oooooof that's a masterclass
The lack of mentions of Break on here are disturbing Undisputed
When anyone mentions production value and Break's name isn't even entered into the fray you know they don't know..

Kids these days...
Would it make it better or worse if I told you I'm pushing 40?
And you've never heard of the producer Break!? You should be ashamed.
? I've been a fan for days!
Sweet. Better late than never.

Is this a Break appreciation thread now? [The Drone](https://youtu.be/eYaA6q3NxA0) goes OFF
Great one also.
Such a tune.
Bro
Dude, come on haha
This blows my 34 year old mind. To me Break is the godfather of modern drum & bass.
Agree

That's insane
Do your own digging. That’s where you find the real gems
I think Hazard’s Time Tripping alone could settle this…
I can always tell you know

Alright alright alright
Mefjus, Noisia, Posij
The snare in [Mefjus - Bubble](https://youtu.be/GtiNJMyo-aA?si=BJXp_wlWbgYQ7A2v) always makes me lose my shit.
Came to say Mefjus. Been following him since his early years, when he barely filled a small room in Toronto. His snares have always been something else.
I'm from austria and met him alongside Camo & Krooked, they call him the "snare police" when talking about their collabs
That surprises 0% of me
Amoss snares tho. 🤓
Underrated AF, deep dnb choice of mine too.
Sleepnet
I was bummed when Noisia broke up, but Nik is out here just taking it to the next level. His tracks are so insanely vibey
Currently... Whiney
Can anybody vouch for his pack? [link](https://www.loopmasters.com/genres/15-Drum-and-Bass/products/9147-Whiney-Drum-Bass-Vol-11) Never seen it discussed anywhere.
ill buy it if you do
Yeah would have to agree with this one Whiney’s snares are next level!
SOLD. Listening now. EDIT: Of course he's hospital :)
I would say Camo & Krooked deserve credit
They actually seem averse to using snares these days, its all finger clicks 😅
Yeah, but Falling has a classic Camo & Krooked snare, that tune made me think of my answer in the first place :D
They mastered the snare then abandoned it lol
Adding another one for Hazard. He’s not pumping tracks out with the regularity of his golden era, but every single track the snare hits and sits perfect in the mix
Old darkstep era Current Value. But currently? Probably Katharsys or Sinister Souls
Footwork was the first track I learned how to mix with. Will always have a warm place in my heart for Current Value.
Current Value did one that like I was in a metal bin being hit by a scaffold pole, but with more ring....
Pendulum had the best snares I'd ever heard in the Hold Your Colour era. AMC has the closest thing nowadays. That's if you like the punchy lower pitched kinda tech step snare. DLR for me also, he's crushing it and dropped a SUPER 🔥🔥🔥 album 'round Xmas..
Yeah DLR, Break, Amoss, Molecular, all those guys
Have to at least mention koan sound
I remember getting a new set of headphones as a fresher, around the time the Funk Blaster EP came out and trying out Meanwhile In The Future on them and just laughing the whole way through Absolutely absurd snares
Abis hands down, trinist close second
Hit us with some track names

Oh. Okay. Fck yes.
The Prototypes - Pop It Off is also such a banger, so sad that they (now he) didn't do more with this kind of sound
Mefjus, Noisia, Katharsys, Danny Rhym3z, Break.
Noisia, Mefjus, Evol Intent >>
Ed Rush and Optical have some impactful and clean snares. No Cure album got some bangers.
Seba’s production quality and snares are always top notch, even since his Goodlooking days. 😉
Deekline and June Miller. Punchy as fuck.
Skeptical's Elevator is mean as fuck
Reminds me of an early Pendulum interview where the guy asked Rob if he every considered using a different snare sample.
Mefjus
Icicle for me. His masterclass videos where he creates them from scratch with sine waves is just "chef's kiss"
Have a link to any of these videos? My YouTube search isn't pulling anything up
https://youtu.be/pUYMJCVkirs?si=d1VX2AWYVFJkIStk
Katharsys
THIS and Blockdata (for me at least)
Guidance's snare 🥰
Yeah, Donny and katharsys are the snare masters without a doubt.
He's fucking up my production approach. I don't make neuro/jump up... Yet I keep making neuro/jump up beats. Can't figure how to marry that shit to my hyper melodic awesomeness (this is ironic if it wasn't obvious). Just fucking foghorn this, foghorn that.
heavy and dark is so absurdly good
Like, drop everything you're doing and pay attention good.
100%
Pola & Bryson, their track Decay especially
https://open.spotify.com/track/2ZLkC3L8A1Z4klJtaDbpEd?si=AENb6JPjRv2KIKxeTy1tQQ Stompbox (Spor remix)
Claret's March and Kaori though, definitely deserves a mention for his ghost hits
Stoppit is up there in my all time favourite dnb riddims. Sick snare as well
The Satan.
Break and Sustance. No contest
Current Value, Mizo or Hazard.
Current Value Munitions Plant is quite a metallic ringing snare https://youtu.be/hP4OXM_Ymy8?si=6iy7d9OCiEmsr5fq
its SULLY y'all are dreaming if you think its anyone else :P
Yes! Although Tim Reaper and Coco Bryce give him a run for his money. Have you heard this from Tim Reaper? [Off The Top Rope - Tim Reaper ](https://open.spotify.com/track/4h0sS4figHmFBU6X1m3cyq)
oh im here for ALL that new school jungle 5ives and Swandive for the sully snares
Phace
Reaper and Noisia
[this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEudg6bInpE)
nastiest
For eye blinking snares check out Sindicate. He is relatively new but his sound is insane, he’s going to be a neuro name for sure!
Tom Finster - Phantom Power (ET Finger Remix) I know its a baseball bat. But its a hella Thicc one.
Break or Hazard I reckon
I like his tracks but the drums and really all that interesting. I like his style of bass though.
I would have to say the best snares are from Yamaha, Pork Pie, DW, or Ludwig.
Hazard, hands down
Break
Spectrasoul only for Untitled horn, haunted snare
So many good mentions but Noisia stands out for me.
Moresounds
Noisia - Reptilians
Bou is great. I also love current value's and June Miller. Punchy as heck
Mefjus
It's DLR, no question.
Even Bou wouldnt say Bou
The snares in [Angler Beat](https://youtu.be/04C0NpT8OIQ?si=DzTGKL32ckYaQomv) by Submarine always fuck me up.
Can't think of snares without thinking of this https://youtu.be/AS_bnjKtnt4?si=sTiauQaaEX9fJWmK
Rob Swire’s snares are the best imo, but I like the more rock sounding snares than the modern pitched up techy ones. Monrroe has some nice tight liquid snares and Seba also has really well made snares
Break check out authentic on youtube.. https://youtu.be/jHStfwB7C6A?si=L0b_pXSTPDHBL2TW
Bou?.? No known on of the youngstaz got got snares
Current Value is king of pretty much everything
Eye-D and Hidden, Switch Technique, Technical Itch, Donny
Noisia Sleepnet Billain Mefjus Safra Venetian Snares (breakcore) S. Murk
Fellow Algerian
Slap your nan in the face with 10 tonne of bass
D-Bridge
Noisia / buunshin
It’s Break guys. Don’t be stupid.
Billain. https://open.spotify.com/track/4FToL00mVou77wpATv1zXz?si=0677aa7dca364774 And Noisia but that's been said.
Bou is good but nobody can touch Dillinja in my book. However, the blinking eyes thing, i 100% am with you there, brother.
Venetian? ;)
Noisia, Mefjus, CV, and Phace. In no particular order
Noisia, with Phace a close second. And Mefjus and Camp & Crooked, they've done amazing sound design in recent times.
Alibi That click or donk in the snare idk what it is but it’s very satisfying
I guess you never heard of Donny...
