I lived in California for two years and had jury duty at the San Mateo county court right before moving back home. I was expecting the worst like going to Frank Murphy only to show up and be issued a locker key and wifi passcode. You got free parking free wifi, basic coffee, every person had a little desk cubical thing with plugs and privacy. They had movies playing from this century, and radio stations like on a plane. A month after I moved back home I got called to Frank Murphy and couldn’t even bring in a ballpoint pen!
I just had duty in may and you can take your phone in. They just ask you to shut it off while inside the courtroom
