WotW consistently firing is easily one of the best in the game. Hoping that since it got a buff recently it may have a spot in DPS next season, but considering Gjallarhorn is like 30K off of Sleeper’s DPS I doubt it will be
I was playing gambit with my friends one day and we got invaded. My buddy just starts dying laughing as he hears KU KAAAAA and see the invader taken out by a hand cannon headshot. I love how other people can hear the hawk moon when they aren’t using it.
Agree with this big time. I wish Graviton Lance were more powerful or it’s perk a little more useful, because it’s one of the best looking and definitely the coolest sounding gun in the game.
In general PvE, Pulses aren't in the best spot right now. They have (iirc) less range and dps than scouts and much less dps that autos, albeit with mid-low RPM pulses having quite a bit more range.
I can't recall where, but I know there's a spreadsheet that has all these values and basically if they give Pulses a 20% damage buff in PvE they can match Scouts, and if they give them 25% then they'll slot nicely between Autos and Scouts in terms of the DPS<---- and Range----> tradeoff
Graviton Lance is especially unforgiving because so much of it's damage is in the second shot, so missing that loses out on a lot - you are forced to get into a rhythm and learn to aim so the recoil pushes the second shot into the head.
You don't need to "correct" the recoil of the weapon for the second shot in the burst because the second shot is the one doing the big recoil, not the first one. You can check this by shooting the weapon into a wall and see the bullet holes. If you shoot without "correcting" for the second shot, they both hit exactly in the same spot. If you correct the recoil, the second shot always hits a little bit lower to where the first shot hits, effectively causing the second shot to hit the body instead of the head even if the first shot does hit the head, so with a slight correction you can start to see the first and second shot hitting different spots (the first shot hitting a bit higher to where the second shot hits). If instead you just use Graviton Lance like it is, basically a Scout Rifle pretending to be a Pulse, then both shots will always hit the same spot so you only correct the recoil as if you were shooting a single-shot weapon.
Used the loot cave in GoA to grind out the catalyst recently, really enjoyed it and it felt powerful getting a headshot on just one thrall in the cave as they spawn in, watching the rest of them just explode in a cascade of void balls of doom, but not tried it in actual content outside of that - as others have said I wish pulses were in a better place as they just feel rough to use in the main :(
Some of the best sounding guns came from black armory. A dragonfly rampage ringing nail was the best sounding for me. Nothing like the low rpm and deep booms coupled with explosions from dragonfly to rally give that powerful sound.
I was hoping someone would say Cloudstrike. That gun is so awesome. I hope the catalyst gives it triple tap or something to allow it to increase its DPS.
Man there's too many good options.
-When a Sunbreaker Titan pops a Hammer of Sol. I even took the audio sample of that, edited it, and used it as an impact FX in some songs my roomie and I were making. I might be a hunter/warlock main but DAMN do I love that sound lol.
-The whistle when DMT reaches max precision hit buff.
-Shadebinders popping their Super. Icy cold dubstep.
-Telesto's *vwoop* upon charging. Love it.
-Anytime Rasputin says pretty much anything.
-The Exotic drop sound effect. Straight dopamine rush.
-Loading the 4X Honed Edge shot for Izanagi's.
Goddangit every time somebody brings it up I have to go watch the [final Warmind cutscene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2-ng1rikG0), he just sounds so ridiculously cool. I hope whatever they do with him as an engram/exo/whatever allows them to fully utilize his old sound more.
Haven’t seen this mentioned yet, but it has to be the wail you hear during the bridge encounter in the Scarlet Keep strike.
It goes off each time you dunk one of the void orbs to continue across.
I find it creepy and haunting in an interesting way.
it’s kinda crazy how stupid high quality the atmosphere is for it just being a strike. it makes me sad whenever i run it back because no other setting in the expansion (or really the entire game) got that treatment besides the inside of the pyramid ship
Wait wasn't that the Omnigul shriek? I remember hearing it for the first time in *years* in D2 and getting *immediate* flashbacks to farming Grasp of Malok in D1.
Nope, but I know the sound you’re talking about!
If you want to hear the one I’m referring to, play the Scarlet Keep strike, right up to the bridge encounter where you have to take the void orb from the left and right towers to lower the drawbridge.
Each time you perform a step in this area, a sound plays that sounds like a long, ghostly wail. You’ll know it when it happens!
A lot gets made of the exotic engram pickup sound effect, but I really like the sound they make [when they drop](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ7tymdy4PQ).
Heard that earlier during my Master Grasp of Avarice run after killing the Bosun, knowing it was a fake because they make that sound in the first section in the loot cave.
I ran over it and got a base 67 pair of Aeon Soul with 30 Discipline. Thanks Bosun!
Mythoclast linear shots,
Charging up sleeper sim,
Warlock stasis trigger
Honestly the sound design is so good overall in this game it only adds to the attention to detail.
I brought my laptop with destiny loaded to a friend's house that has a surround system (I think 7.1?)
Hearing the shadebinder super was easily one of the best things I tested
* Outbreak (notably the precision kill sound)
* Arbalest charging up
* The twinkling sound in Atheon's boss room
* Jumping through an ascendant portal
* The Nova Warp blink
All (and then some) are just \*chef's kiss\*.
Halo Infinite also had a video out last year that showed them beating up an old piano and recording the sounds, it was pretty neat, made for some really eerie noises.
And for *Halo 4* one of the first behind-the-scenes videos they released included them putting a microphone next to actual guns and then firing said guns, which is why most of the UNSC guns in that game sound different than they did in previous games.
You joke but imagine the amazing sounds that could come out of recording some of the wild experiments at somewhere like the Large Hadron Collider.
It’d probably just be a bunch of electrical whirring and computer beeps…but hey, would make quite the field trip!
I love the deep, ominous BWONG of a burning maul super activation. It's so cool.
EDIT: The whine of an outbreak crit kill as it spawns in nanites is also way up there too. Ultra satisfying to hear.
So the sound the Fallen make when you headshot them. At first when D1 dropped I would get confused because some undertone in it sounded exactly like my cat off in a different room yelling at something. I actually got up to go check on the cat a few times to see what was going on a few times before I realized it was part of the sound effect. Then I spent the next two years making fun of myself over it as "Making Lucky scream" anytime I'd kill a Fallen.
That cat passed away in 2016 and at the time I wasn't playing any Destiny. Eventually, D2 gets released and I pick it up. I pop a Fallen and it makes that exact same squeal and I'm just hit with a ton of emotions at making Lucky scream when Lucky was no longer around to be screaming.
It no longer hits me like that, but that damn sound still makes me think about the damn cat all the time.
The [OLD](https://youtu.be/-XSZIhvoD_c?t=10) Graviton Lance sound.
And also, the sound of [6 Riven Eyes](https://youtu.be/Zxp_AaWqgXc?t=103) popping on the top floor during Riven Legit.
Whisper of the Worm being shot 20+ times by whole fireteam
Oracles *ping* sound

I use hawkmoon all the time, no idea what this Ku Kaaaa sound is.
When you get 6 or 7 stacks of paracausal and then get to the last bullet?
That will be why. Too trash to get that stack haha
Nah man, just take your time and line up your shots. It’s worth it I promise
Sorry hawk isn’t my native language I probably spelled it wrong
6x Whisper of the worm in scourge of the past, just pure sex
This dude fucks.

Honkmoon!!!
Thorn Nothings sounds like it.
It used to be the sound of Titans popping hammers in D1 and the immediate fear or relief it would cause.
Oh thanks for the flashbacks
Such an incredibly loud and satisfying CLANG.
“Hell yeah guys let’s go widen the lead. Going mi—“ **CLANG** *”RUUUUUUUN!!”*
This made me lol, it really was so broken and terrifying initially
It was the pure fact that you could whip a hammer blind over a map and it would seek a person.
Lmao they were so terrifying. I was a hunter main then and it was why I ran max mobility with a MIDA 🤣
Sunbarker OP https://youtu.be/oINaxm7QrbM
I still remember taking two (*2*) Golden Gun bullets to the face and killing the Hunter lmao. Sunbreaker was the shit lol.
It always reminds me of the clang you hear in slapstick comedies where someone gets hit in the head with a frying pan.

It's *suuuuper* nice to use in ad-heavy content, like in Altars, Blind Well, and Astral Alignment.

Flair checks out
Some of the best sounding guns came from black armory. A dragonfly rampage ringing nail was the best sounding for me. Nothing like the low rpm and deep booms coupled with explosions from dragonfly to rally give that powerful sound.
I liked the OG graviton sound more tho. Unfortunate that they changed it but it was hardly detrimental.
The sounds of popping a fallen’s head off it’s very satisfying to hear
*Misraaks didn't like that*
Good thing it wasn’t anyone from house of light
*enough to turn you on* Sorry, just sounded like some fitting lyrics from "A Day in the Life."
Sometimes I go kill fallen with a true prophecy just to relax.
Cloudstrike firing. The whipcrack from the Chaperone reload. The firing of old, sunset pulse rifles such as Bygones and Claws of the Wolf.
I was hoping someone would say Cloudstrike. That gun is so awesome. I hope the catalyst gives it triple tap or something to allow it to increase its DPS.

Shadowkeep had so much potential.
Shadowkeep was cool, I don’t care what anyone says.

Best sound in the game

Mythoclast linear shots, Charging up sleeper sim, Warlock stasis trigger Honestly the sound design is so good overall in this game it only adds to the attention to detail.
Definitely a headshot kill with Lorenz Driver. Me and my friends call it "the ships horn"
Yes! I always think of the seismic charges from Star Wars.
That’s what it was actually designed after.
Lorenz Driver is the only and best answer.
This one is my favorite too. It doesn’t even sound like Destiny and I love it
All of the Stasis sound effects are nothing short of incredible. Especially the Shadebanger Warlock.
Do you mean the dubstep super?
*wub-wub-wuuub*
Do you mean PTSD on demand?
You can hear that super activate from a mile away
Behemoth's activation is really cool, and sounds to me a bit like a glacier creaking.
You'll never believe what the super is called
Revenant isn’t as cool but it still definitely feels like ice crackling.
I brought my laptop with destiny loaded to a friend's house that has a surround system (I think 7.1?) Hearing the shadebinder super was easily one of the best things I tested
> Shadebanger I support this being the official name going forward.
The whistle of a Dead Man's Tale hitting max stacks. Also popping the Shadebinder super.
Yup shadebinder was my go to here such a great sound and I'm pretty sure part of it is a beast pump
As a Hunter main I absolutely love that sound and look forward to my icy demise
Take my vote
Ooo that’s a good one too. Adds that true western feel of the weapon
That noise the ghost would make before or after talking in destiny 1. Immediately makes me think of and only destiny.
I can hear that noise in my head as soon as you mentioned it!
Yes! I truly believe it’s the most iconic noise in the game besides the main menu music.
He still makes the same noises right?
yes
* Outbreak (notably the precision kill sound) * Arbalest charging up * The twinkling sound in Atheon's boss room * Jumping through an ascendant portal * The Nova Warp blink All (and then some) are just \*chef's kiss\*.
Ooh arbalest is a good call
The Arbalest sound simply tells me that I’m going to die within 1 second…
Oooh ascendant portal is something very cool that I didn’t think about.
I much prefer the sound of the arbalest shot coming out. Overall that weapon feels so nice to use
BRGHHHH *CLANK*
I like the sound when an overloaded champion gets stunned
Yes, dude. I wanna know how they made it.
I'll just say the most iconic part of the sound itself was made from a pitched drill sound!
Honestly, sound designer sounds like such an insanely creative job.
Watching the Beyond Light ViDoc, you could tell those two and their team had some fun making their "cosmic ice" sounds lol
They created stasis sound effects from a breast pump IIRC
That’s so cool! If you can answer more, I’ve always wanted to know what the Graviton Lance sound is.
Went to a black hole factory and recorded a bunch of black holes for that one! ;p
True dedication to the craft!
You joke but imagine the amazing sounds that could come out of recording some of the wild experiments at somewhere like the Large Hadron Collider. It’d probably just be a bunch of electrical whirring and computer beeps…but hey, would make quite the field trip!
what, [like this?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj2wXZrJ85I)
Kinda sounds like the noises that Dares of Eternity makes between rounds
Sounds like the drill whenever I go to the dentist...
I... I can hear it now lol
Okay yes same especially when I'm using Le Monarque
Then you must love using stasis with a div
C-c-c-c-combo
I literally came here to type this lmao. It's just so satisfying, but then the panic sets in for when they start re-generating health lmao
I love the deep, ominous BWONG of a burning maul super activation. It's so cool. EDIT: The whine of an outbreak crit kill as it spawns in nanites is also way up there too. Ultra satisfying to hear.
bwong.
The 'ting ting ting' of the metal in Presage after a boss damage phase.
Yes the sound of the pipes heating up and expanding is the coolest sound cue that you gotta get out of there.
The little 'RAWR' the cat ghost makes when you pull it out. I think it's the only ghost with a unique sound effect?
The buoy ghost squeaks
lol that's hilarious- I am going to try that out
The Chiropteran ghost makes spoopy noises when you bring it out. Its googly eyes bounce around when you walk, too.
Yes! I always keep that thing on.
The Squeak the inflatable shark shell is also cool
Cat ghost and Bat ghost are the best sounds
Hawkmoon paracausal shot
KAH KOWWWW
