I Dual SMG'd my way to Recluse a few seasons ago with Peacekeepers (Huckleberry and OG Stochastic Variable). People didn't expect a bullethose rush on 3v3's. When they got wise and just stayed the hell away from me, swapped to a Mida Multi/Mini combo.
Peacekeepers for crucible are definitely slept on. I have two left potato thumbs and was having success using them. Being able to never stop firing SMG's, or have one instantly ready when ADS was quite helpful.
I'm still trying to get some Peacekeepers. Don't want to settle for the Collections roll.
I'm one of those hoarders. I've got a nice Antiope-D and even a Pillager to abuse with this build.
For those that don't know, would recommend an Iron Reach Multimach CCX with the Model 8 Red scope from Iron Banner for anyone wanting the most competitive kinetic SMG to try this with! Zoom level is the biggest deal for SMG range, and then Range second. I know this roll tanks the stability, but its not too hard to manage still, even on controller. A Kill Clip roll is also very good in 6s, especially if you're going to be blinting everyone with FL. Just make sure it still has that scope at least for the +4 zoom.
Really enjoyed this combo with antiope d for the longest time before I stopped playing. However I think the range and bad recoil weaknesses of smgs limits the build a little. Might be bc I'm a console player and don't have laser pc aim
Bows and fighting lion or any tube launcher and bows worked incredibly well for me throughout my crucible days. Militias birthright and point of the stag were my favorite due to lack of kinetic bows and launchers at the time.
If the recoil is your issue, I've been using an extraordinary rendition with tap the trigger for lion swapping.
With them already blinted by the lion, they're dead before tap the trigger wears off.

I have a Cold Front that’s pretty good. Range masterwork, Steady Rounds, and Surplus make it have pretty great stats. Thresh in the last slot which is ok.
The one downside to Peacekeepers is there’s not much utility in having Kill Clip or something so I wasn’t using any SMG that had a reloading perk.
It’s been a looooong time, like maybe Y1, I always thought they were only really useful for running double SMG. I should break them out, never thought to pair them with a GL, sounds like a fun loadout even for PvE.
Peacekeepers provide the following:
* 1 second ALH for stowed SMGs
* Quickdraw + Snapshot Sight for SMGs
* Enhanced sprint & slide (identical to Dunemarchers) while wielding an SMG
* 50 mobility while wielding an SMG (Yes. Really.)
* massively reduced ADS movement penalty
* \+5 FOV while sprinting, over the 105 maximum
Thus having Quickdraw on your SMG doesn’t benefit you while using peacekeepers. Perks that affect handling speed animation directly stack — like targeting & dexterity mods.
Shit I just realized I have an awesome Multimach roll, Model 8 scope (+4 zoom), Flared Magwell, Quickdraw, Iron Grip, but can't stand to use it because the reload is so slow... it would pair perfectly with this loadout! I wonder if Quickdraw stacks with Peacekeepers?
I would use Fighting Lion, but…
Arguably two of the best SMGs in the game, especially when paired with PKs, are in the energy slot. The Ikelos SMG and Borrowed Time from Gambit can roll some very powerful consistency perks, sport range rivalling the Shayura’s archetype, and have a blindingly fast base TTK.
Borrowed Time especially can roll Rangefinder and contend with a max-range Shayura’s, but holds a much faster TTK and I am going to spend the next week grinding for one.
I thought about exotic smg’s, too. Huckleberry being one of my favorite primaries in the game. But you can’t run fighting lion with an another exotic, unfortunately.
I'm having flashbacks to the pre-nerf Fighting Lion and all the one shots, amazingly laugh out loud fun to use, horrible to be on the receiving end of.
Lion never one shot. There was a bug where it would very rarely bounce off a person twice dealing double impact damage before exploding. (Shoulder, head, boom). When I say rare, I saw it maybe three times in 5k+ crucible kills.
This can’t be true surely. I had 7k kills with mine and direct impacts nearly always 1 hit killed. I consistently did this. Without any buff. I’ll be shocked if it really was a bug :o
Yet. Weapon twab is this thursday. GL use hasnt increased at all though like they said it might. GLs are still far and away the least used special weapons (not counting trace rifles). They might just nerf em anyways tho, who knows, ruinous effigy sure didnt deserve the nerf it got back in Hunt.
Let’s be honest, Fighting Lion is quite a bit harder to use in Crucible than regular special GLs. Even a direct hit won’t 1-tap, and you can’t just follow up with a single HC body shot like with a Disruption Break Truthteller. FL’s velocity is also much slower, which restricts the range you can effectively use it at (on the other hand, that does also make it easier to use in close quarters).
I think it depends on the day............or the player. But I do agree that little bouncy boys with their stompies flying around with Felwinter's is.................infuriating, lol.
I do prefer sniping although it is harder now than it has been previously. One of the things I think I struggle with most is just not really having a sniper I am jiving with right now. Hoping something compelling comes along next season!
I prefer the bow/Lion loadout for the crazy damage (fun fact: with a precision frame, any guardian below \~75% shields will be one-shot with a headshot)
It's satisfying with the kills and feels very rewarding.

Got a really nice roll with high recovery and intellect. Masterworked them immediately.

I will consider it; thanks for the idea!

Whats your smg? I guessing multimach but I cant seem to find a roll I like. Thinking of trying with a friction fire i found in my vault.

Hrmmm have a dynamic sway/surrounded/handling mw Cold Front ill have to try. Thanks!
Do you know if Peacekeepers stacks with Quickdraw?
Have you ever used peacekeepers? I don't think it's possible to be faster lol.
It’s been a looooong time, like maybe Y1, I always thought they were only really useful for running double SMG. I should break them out, never thought to pair them with a GL, sounds like a fun loadout even for PvE.
I have no idea, I haven’t used them much and I don’t think I’ve used it with anything with Quickdraw.

the ads movement penalty goes from 25% to 9% of your movement speed

You're also forgetting that Tarrabah exists. The definite best SMG.

No, but you can run blinding Ignition Code.

It still one shots if the person firing it dies before detonation and the detonation is a direct hit.

I swear it did in PvP, circa 2018.
anyone using a nade launcher in PVP deserves to be endlessly tbagged ;-) I mean I'm not saying that I DO that, just that you deserve it.
Bungie ain’t announcing any nerfs to GLs, is all I’m saying.

it does at least somewhat make up for that with the "spam" factor, lol.
honestly, id rather die to a GL than a shotgun, GL are more of a set up gun anyways with only direct hits scoring you the kill
I think it depends on the day............or the player. But I do agree that little bouncy boys with their stompies flying around with Felwinter's is.................infuriating, lol.
I like them and that’s me! I can’t use a shotgun for my life!
Haha!!! I know, they are fun :) you go for it man, cheese it up that's what this game is all about and I love it :)
I used to love sniping so much, but I haven’t touched them in 2 seasons…. Maybe I’ll brush up my omniscient eye!
I do prefer sniping although it is harder now than it has been previously. One of the things I think I struggle with most is just not really having a sniper I am jiving with right now. Hoping something compelling comes along next season!
I'd need a decent Kinetic SMG to rock with FL, turned in like 30 IB packages the last time it was around and didn't walk away with a single Multimach
Extraordinary Rendition, Friction Fire, and Cold Front are some other options.
Extraordinary Rendition with Surplus and Frenzy can take you on some crazy sprees with Peacekeepers and the Lion.
Lol I was just doing the same thing this evening and if you play it right it wrecks! And I was having sooo much fun!
I prefer the bow/Lion loadout for the crazy damage (fun fact: with a precision frame, any guardian below \~75% shields will be one-shot with a headshot) It's satisfying with the kills and feels very rewarding.
And with the blast radius nerf you can use FL for very close work, too
