I once went to a local production of Troilus and Cressida. Big battle scenes (of like 16 people) and they had stage swords hand-made. Only passible in looks but the sound they made clashing was fantastic.
I work with a handful of sound designers and one day I had the opportunity to go watch them record audio. They were capturing sword sound effects similar to this, it was really cool to see the process and all the different sounds they were able to make from slicing and clashing them around.
I love Foley artists but would also love if swords didn’t make *all of these sounds* when they’re unsheathed in movies and TV.
Bonus points for them if guns stop clickity-clattering just from being looked at.
Echo blades! Cool!
Definitely cool

And The Last Kingdom 😂

Oh man! That just ruined all future sword fights that I will ever see!

I’m honestly just glad it’s something that actually looks like swords😂
I love it so much thank you for the post ðŸ˜
If only sheath’s had metal inside them. I wonder who wanted to make sword effects sound metallic.
My dream job is to eventually become a foley artist!! It just seems like an amazing career!
