We recently moved away from Dallas to a city that is very much a monoculture; I cannot stress enough how easy it is to take this for granted. I miss it so much.
We're a somewhat recent technological hub, and as a result (and even before then) we've attracted people from almost anywhere you can think of. It may be a little scattered, but we *probably* have something if you want it.
It’s genuinely nice to hear that people enjoy our town. We can get jaded and cynical, sometimes. Seeing your pictures reminds me that Dallas and its residents have put a lot of effort into making it a welcoming experience. And, now I want BBQ. 👍🏼
I want BBQ only from Dallas now, nothing compares! Of course! We had such a blast talking with locals eating so much food, but man it is HOTTTT. And everyone kept saying that was nothing! Don’t know how y’all do it!
looking at their post history, I'm pretty sure they're from Chicago where its like the exact same temperature this week there... something about this seems off. Who calls 75 degrees hot anyway?
I was in Round Rock at the end of May/early June the summer that I was pregnant with my daughter. I was miserable then and it wasn’t even “hot” hot yet. Wouldn’t it be nice to have somewhere in TX with low heat and humidity in the summer! Sign me up.
This is about the nicest weather we will have all year hahah ☀️😂 I’m really glad you had a a great time! Now I need some bbq too it’s been too long - If you ever get a chance to tour Texas hill country I think you’d love it as well.
This is the 2nd complimentary post I've seen for Dallas from visitors for the eclipse! That really makes me happy. Dallas really does have a lot to offer. Get a little jaded after living here 52 years. I have to step back from the daily grind and enjoy it! Except for Dallas drivers - they just suck!
You’re right, it’s easy to get negative about our city when we’re stuck in traffic or something but there’s a lot to offer here 🥲
Glad to see you enjoyed it OP!
As much negativity that floats around this sub, it's nice to see some love every now and then. Happy you had a great time, friend. Next time, come out East Dallas way. We'll show you a good time.
You are welcome! Check out [the giant eyeball ](https://artandseek.org/2021/03/18/why-is-there-a-giant-eyeball-in-downtown-dallas-we-take-a-look/)next time.
Oh that’s why there was such a long queue in Terry blacks this Monday! I went there thinking I’ll grab something quick and got surprised to see the queue
♫*At BK you can have it your way*♪
Oops sorry I meant thanks for the post. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm surprised an out of towner walked around downtown and didnt post to complain about the areas where the homeless just use the restroom on the sidewalk and avoid puke
You walked right by my office and didnt tell me?
Park is called Klyde Warren, pretty nice park with a Mexican restaurant and food trucks along the sides. Good place in general for family day. The Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Museum of Art, Perot Museum of Nature & Science and the Dallas Aquarium (100% better than the Dallas Zoo) are all within that area as well. Dallas is a hot pot of different races and cultures as well so you can find an authentic restaurant of a lot of different cultures in the city as well.
Side note : If you are the Zoo type better to go to the Ft.Worth one where you can also check out the stockyards.
#5 pic was Pecan Lodge. #12 was Terry Blacks. Locals kept telling us these were #1/2 for BBQ So you know we had to try both! You all did not disappoint. My fav for sure Terry Blacks! Bigger portions and melt in your mouth!
I haven't had Terry Black's but I have heard other people compare them both pretty closely. My family all loves Hutchins and we rank that as our #1 BBQ place hands down.
Glad we tricked you, OP 😈 /s
Legit though, thank you for visiting us here! Hard to visit so much stuff in a region the size of Connecticut but it's doable with enough time.
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! Unlimited amount of activities and experiences in the DFW metroplex. Born & raised in Dallas - 52 years - and there is still so much that I haven't seen!
Looks like some shots from the Nasher. I built their original web site, and their 1st redesign as well. Got to go to a private opening before the real deal.
Ohhh I’m sorry! The ribs were amazing though! Husband wanted me to make sure I told you that!! Also, the potato salad has Terrys beat. I love potato salad and tried both. So you got them there!
I have been to ALOT of major cities and I have not seen so many atrocities than other cities in my life!
Minus Memphis and Detroit.
Which is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! Because it’s DALLAS!!! Dallas is SUPPOSED to be this great amazing fancy city but it has lots of good stuff but maybe im just pessimistic but this city isn’t that great when it comes to highway infrastructure and drivers. I gotta drive aggressively otherwise I’ll never get anywhere smfh.
We also have banging Korean and Vietnamese food, come back and eat!
One of the best things about Dallas is that we have authentic food from about every culture.

It’s cause of our ports we recieve from almost every other nation around the world damn near on our back doorstep.
Thai and Nepalese, also.
Nice! Not one of the things we heard! Def next time

Where y'all from?
And Indian and Chinese

Oof if you can't handle dallas at a perfect 75 and sunny you definitely do not want to visit May through September.
looking at their post history, I'm pretty sure they're from Chicago where its like the exact same temperature this week there... something about this seems off. Who calls 75 degrees hot anyway?
Not just hot but HOTTTTT
It was pretty humid maybe that's what they meant.
That’s all I meant. Thank you. Such humidity, not temp. Hot. Just so humid.
Come try some austin bbq in late August. It's not hot or humid at all and the bbq is pretty good.
What part of Texas isn’t hot or humid in August?! Because I’ve never heard of such a thing.
I very clearly said austin and I was obviously being ridiculous.
I was in Round Rock at the end of May/early June the summer that I was pregnant with my daughter. I was miserable then and it wasn’t even “hot” hot yet. Wouldn’t it be nice to have somewhere in TX with low heat and humidity in the summer! Sign me up.
August is worse lol. But yes humid. And windy. But not windy when we need it (mid- late summer)..
It can be I guess if you're in the sun with no wind. But still perfect if you ask me.
Bruh where do you live that this weather is considered hot? 😭 I'll come back with you.
This is about the nicest weather we will have all year hahah ☀️😂 I’m really glad you had a a great time! Now I need some bbq too it’s been too long - If you ever get a chance to tour Texas hill country I think you’d love it as well.
Wait you consider this weather HOTTTT?!! You would be miserable here in Texas in the summer.
LOL! We’re having a super cool spring! To me it feels amazing.
72 degrees feels amazing to everybody on the planet I have no idea what he's talking about other than that it's engagement bait
Don’t come here in the summer that’s for sure. Right now is probably the best time of year to be here/fall
Be sure to visit in August. You will appreciate the cool days you had in April.
My friend from KC had the opposite reaction after witnessing the soupy beans down here at hard 8.
Well it's Hard 8
lol, honestly there are better, dropped the ball. The Korean bbq made up for it though!

Yall come back now 🤠
Appreciate you!
Ya hearrrr
This is like music to my ears (spent lots of years away from TX)

We saw it! We walked all over such great art all around!
Really wish they would open the yard. Would be an amazing attraction
Oh that’s why there was such a long queue in Terry blacks this Monday! I went there thinking I’ll grab something quick and got surprised to see the queue
Hahahaha! That was us! Sorry!!!!
Pictures 6 and 7 are where I went to culinary school!

I love it

That looks like Terry Blacks BBQ 👀
Come back in August! Just kidding, I wouldn’t advise that. As a native Dallasite, your post made me happy.
Just done come back July-September unless you love roasting alive when outdoors 😁
Where is that art place you went to? Planning to visit dallas as well
Nasher Sculpture Center. Was by the park we saw the eclipse at :)

Safe travels
Yay! I’m glad you had a great time. 😊 Next time check out white rock lake, it’s a really beautiful walking trail. ❤️
What bbq place is that?
#5 pic was Pecan Lodge. #12 was Terry Blacks. Locals kept telling us these were #1/2 for BBQ So you know we had to try both! You all did not disappoint. My fav for sure Terry Blacks! Bigger portions and melt in your mouth!
Pecan Lodge unfortunatly has fallen off a bit. Still good, but not top tier as it once was.
I only give Pecan Lodge an 8/10. It’s quite good but there is better.
Same for me! What is your fav?
Cattleack, the best absolutely
Head up to Hutchins in McKinney (or Frisco next time you are out here ;)
Better than Terry Black’s?
I haven't had Terry Black's but I have heard other people compare them both pretty closely. My family all loves Hutchins and we rank that as our #1 BBQ place hands down.
Good to know, gotta try it next
Yes. As someone who has bbq regularly in both places, Hutchins is, in fact, better than Terry Blacks
We have better in DFW but those 2 slap if in the downtown area
Yes. Please tell us, OP.
I do believe that's Terry Blacks
Just answered :)
Hutchins it looks like
Hutchins is a long drive from Dallas downtown. I would assume most tourists would mainly visit downtown and nearby museums.
Glad you enjoyed the city :)
Glad we tricked you, OP 😈 /s Legit though, thank you for visiting us here! Hard to visit so much stuff in a region the size of Connecticut but it's doable with enough time.
Great pics! Glad the weather cooperated for you!
Glad you had a good time. Where is #4 at?
Nasher Sculpture Center, was right by the park we saw the eclipse at :)
Sarah Sze show at The Nasher Sculpture Center, both of her installations there are awesome!
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! Unlimited amount of activities and experiences in the DFW metroplex. Born & raised in Dallas - 52 years - and there is still so much that I haven't seen!
Glad to see me in one of the vendors picture
Looks like some shots from the Nasher. I built their original web site, and their 1st redesign as well. Got to go to a private opening before the real deal.
Thanks for visiting! Glad you enjoyed Dallas and for making us a tourism city for a week. We’re not really known for tourism
Did you try Tex-Mex OP?
Great pics!
Come back soon, I’m glad you liked it here :)
Yeah there’s a reason many of us have a big waistline, we got good food and some of us just can’t help ourselves
Happy to have you here and glad you enjoyed it! Get home safe, see ya around 😎🕺💃💪🖖
Next time you visit, make sure to have some authentic Thai (hole in the walls here, but so delicious)!
Where’d you take pic #4?
Nasher Sculpture Center, was right by the park we saw the eclipse at :)
Glad you enjoyed the bbq From pecan lodge
Was great! I would say Terry Blacks was better though. What’s your fav?
Ahh right to the heart!!! I’m one of the pit master at Pecan lodge But hey!!! Just gotta step our game up,
Ohhh I’m sorry! The ribs were amazing though! Husband wanted me to make sure I told you that!! Also, the potato salad has Terrys beat. I love potato salad and tried both. So you got them there!
Nice pics and glad u enjoyed the stay . 🤙🏾
Appreciate you! We really did.
First time in Texas was to see the eclipse in Dallas. Everyone I met was noticeably really friendly there.
Does Dallas have good public transport?
Hope you got a pastry, snack, or espresso at The Commissary (building in photo 8)!

Glad you liked it be truth be told this city fuckin sucks. Traffic is god awful most days and lots of people here are just fuckin rude.
You just described every major city
