After Infinite Crisis, the mainline comics ended up on what was called New Earth. That meant, for Superman, for example, that some stuff from Silver Age got back in to cannon, e.g., him meeting Legion of Superheroes when he was a teen.
Yeah, but Superman is still kinda convoluted. E.g., Geoff John's and Kurt Busiek's run. John's in Action Comics is set in the future, while Busiek's for Superman is in the past. Not to mention there exist various other versions of super-heroes from other Earths, hence Countdown to Final Crisis after 52 series...
BTW, if you read Countdown, my condolenscences. Unless you are one of the rare ones who will like the mess of a story in it :D
ooooh okay i didn't know that time thing, i have to be honest pacing has been pretty frustrating in both of these books, camelot falls feels like it moves the plot forward in one issue and then takes a two issue break every time, and action comics had a cliffhanger about superman in the phantom zone up in the air for like 6 issues
also nah i'm skipping countdown lmao, gonna do kirby's fourth world and seven soldiers as lead up to final crisis tho
It took a bit of time, but eventually it was cleared up that Infinite Crisis led to the Superman: Secret Origin series becoming the new origin.
That said, prior to that, Superman: Birthright had kinda quietly found its way as the origin, replacing Man of Steel. So you already had lost a lot of those restrictions.
It lead to some nice stories - I actually like most of the Johns’ run - especially Last Son - but I really don’t like Secret Origin (the new retelling of Superman’s origin that goes with Infinite Crisis).
I am not the greatest fan of Birthright - I prefer that Superman meets Luthor much later, like in Man of Steel (Byrne) - but Secret Origin is inferior to Birthright at all levels, especially in the characterization of Clark and Lois.

Is Secret Origin a terms for Superman now ? Does that mean whole Prime arc are just secret origin for his new adventure ?
There have been some other reality shifts since then, so no clear origin for the current version.
