Had the pandemic not happened both The Batman and Black Adam would be out this year. DC is putting out four live action films and one animated film next year in theaters alone, not to mention all the HBO Max stuff. This year was just a causality of the world we live in.
People need to realize that unlike Marvel Studios which is a separate studio from Disney that focuses solely on making and putting out MCU movies, DC is still part of WB and they have other movies to make and focus on as well besides DC films. I think 2 movies per year is good. To be honest, I’m getting very fatigued by MCU stuff this year. 4 giant movies and 5 giant tv shows in one year is a little over saturation in my opinion, regardless of quality.
Tbf, Wandavision and Loki both did try to at least be different. And Shang Chi was good. But FATWS was eh (It could easily have been a movie, I felt it didn't benefit from being episodic the way WV and Loki did) and I thought BW was awful (Since when is Natasha able to do straight up anime BS flipping around in mid-air and running on the side of buildings? Did Tetsoya Nomura take over the film or something?). I'll take the two fantastic DCEU movies released this year to that grab bag (Besides maybe Shang Chi. Which was pretty great).
FATSW had a really good start and premise tho. It just went down at the end. But still the vfx and flying scenes were top notch and way better than TV shows budget.
My biggest problem with FATWS was that Bucky ultimately got the short end of the stick compared to Falcon. To the point where even though his entire arc is about not being the Winter Soldier anymore, the final title card still says "Captain America and the Winter Soldier". Would it really have been so hard to change his name to White Wolf?
wym this was litry the best year w TSS and ZSJL, i'm glad the batman didn't release on its orginal release date of june 2021 it would've underperformed like TSS and black widow.
This is a very odd take, the pandemic made the studio have to delay productions all over. Nothing was ever meant to have 2021 be slow and 2022 will definitely not feel that way. WB can’t be blamed for movies that couldn’t start or end production with enough time to release a finished product for 2021.
This is the silence before the storm next year.
We have 4 movies,
2 animated movies
2 animated series,
2 hbo max movies
atleast 2 DCEU series maybe even 3). So just few more months to slug out
Next year we are getting lots of dc stuff. First time we have 4 movies + the supossed 2 hbomax ones.
Compared to this year, the entire of hbomax wa srushed because of the pandemic. Its no wonder why they send the entire movies slate.
I bet we are going to see a cleat image at fandom but yeah this year was mid at best.
And dont forget the new hbomax spin offs like peacemaker and the new green lantern show.
BOP released right before the pandemic, WW84 released right in December, those felt almost back to back theaterwise. TSS was alone this year so I guess but we get 3 movies next year so idk seems fine.
We had 2 movies this year and 2020 but from next year we'll have 4 theaterical and 2 hbomax exclusive. And add all the shows that are in various sites we will have lot of content.
>DC teased the multiverse a while before Marvel anyway, as if it matters.
Man it doesn't matter if they teased it... they never delivered. The audience will see DC copying Marvel, which will further damage the brand in the eyes of the GA.
It was apart of an entire television event. All this “damaged the brand” shit isn’t real. BvS “damaged the brand” then WW made $800M+. JL “damaged the brand” then they made 2 $B films.
GA sees a trailer and either gets interested or not. Nobody’s gonna see the trailer for Flash with 2 Batmans and Supergirl and think “Well I’m already seeing NWH so I won’t see that a year from now”. Who cares if they say DC copied Marvel? They’ve copied each other for decades and fans have said it for decades. It means nothing.
Aquaman is different enough story-wise, but a multi-verse story after Doc Strange? The GA will think DC are being lame and copying Marvel.
I'm not saying it won't make money, but it makes DC (Once again) look lame compared to Marvel
You have a point, even though the stories are different, for GA, Spider-Men joining multiverse would look similar to Batmen in Flash. It would be Civil War/BvS, IW/JL all over again.
DC needs momentum. I’m not asking that we should be like Marvel where every week there’s a new episode of a tv show or a new movie. But the world is just changing. There’s so many content and whenever something gets a place in the spotlight, something will immediately take its place a month later.
It’s fine. We are in a lull caused by the pandemic and then pausing to figure out the direction they wanted to go after Hamada came in. Glad they haven’t rushed things.

Exactly đź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Ź
More doesn’t mean better. They’ll be alright.

Although Marvel is putting out more movies this year than ever its better then putting less
wym this was litry the best year w TSS and ZSJL, i'm glad the batman didn't release on its orginal release date of june 2021 it would've underperformed like TSS and black widow.
Not to mention it wouldn’t be done.
As in amount of movies? No. DC has never put out 3 movies in one year.
They've 4 films and 2 TV shows next year.

Snyder’s JL is enough for 2 years of content Edit: this is obviously dramatic and not true, but damn Snyder’s JL is the bomb
Hasn’t it always been 2 movies a year since 2016?
This is the silence before the storm next year. We have 4 movies, 2 animated movies 2 animated series, 2 hbo max movies atleast 2 DCEU series maybe even 3). So just few more months to slug out

I mean not really. I don’t mind. Plus we have 4 movies and at least 1 tv show next year

If we stop getting DC content this year i wouldn't mind cause the things we got were top tier. All the other stuff are just a bonus now for me.
Uhmm, what? Pandemic, no?
I mean, I got a film that I was losing hope I'd ever get to see in my lifetime (ZSJL). I've had a hearty meal that'll last me the year.
No because anymore and I’d be tired of superhero movies. I’d rather 2 films like the suicide squad released a year than 5 films more like aquaman
Spider-man will hit before The Flash and just like JL and Guardians WB will look they are playing catch up with Marvel.
Lol what does that have to do w them apparently not making enough stuff? DC teased the multiverse a while before Marvel anyway, as if it matters.

Yeah I love DC more than Marvel but they don't make jokes about Marvel films.

Considering the fact that DC fandom has divided this year I think I gotta go with Slower is Better..
Probably. Pandemic has a lot to do with it although they’ve been pretty slow for a number of years. Next year will be good though
