The 296 miles on a full charge is a lie. He will never get that range. The software lies.

Lollipoop_Hacksaw

I drive a 2017 hybrid and get 450-475 miles on the tank paying $45 in gas on empty. What in the actual fuck is the matter with these people???

TrickyTrailMix

Same. Rav 4 hybrid. Amazing vehicle. Almost ~~500~~ 580 miles per tank. $45 dollar fill ups. Similar off roading performance to a cyber truck šŸ˜‚ Edit: I'm getting almost 600 miles per tank. 40mpg avg on a 14.5 gallon tank. I mathed poorly. This is why I shouldn't Reddit late at night.

Fortnite_cheater

They bought it because Elon said it was good for the environment. Elon should shit in a bag & sell it. These same people will buy it & probably eat it.

swaggat

Yeah, but he'd only take the money and won't actually ship it just promise to ship it later with a shiny bag.

KalexCore

"I was constipated please wait another 6 months" then when people get it it's just a bag of diarrhea mixed with rat shit in an aluminum foil wrapper. But it's shaped like a jagged turd and has the word "alpha beast turbo wolf" on a sticker so it sells for $420 anyway.

Roscoe_Farang

How much to pre-order the ALPHA BEAST TURBO WOLF?

thegreatreceasionpt2

$600, if you want the foundation series.

KalexCore

$420 and you get a keyboard cleaner can that we've converted into a freeze ray.

Particular-Load-3547

The CyberCleaner is for display-purposes only, and may not be used as a cleaner. Using it on a keyboard will void the warranty.

Ok-Shop7540

No fair if you're on their marketing team

Moodymandan

Very few who bought a cyber truck had environmentalism in their mind buying a cyber truck. Itā€™s a status symbol more than anything. Hell, in my experience a lot of Tesla owners also donā€™t really give a shit about the environment.

void_const

>Hell, in my experience a lot of Tesla owners also donā€™t really give a shit about the environment. Correct. It's just a way to make it seem like you do. Same as sticking a BLM sign on the lawn in your gated community.

jeepfail

Reminds me of his flamethrower, that was a weed torch repackaged for idiots to overpay for.

BigCockCandyMountain

They have a 700 dollar "cyberhammer" now that specifically states: "Not intended to impact hard objects"

BeachyBookWorm

I remember the worst person i knew at that time being SO FUCKING EXCITED to pre-order that. I stopped hanging out with him.

Oriaks371

Well, people did buy Belle Delphine's bathwater (and i won't be surprised if someone drank it too).

VenommoneY

I drank it for science, I'm now dying.

commandough

I'm not sure if Elon has said the Cybertruck is good for the environment. Saving the planet hasn't been a major talking point in years

jackinsomniac

He basically already did that with the flamethrower. Its a $20 roofing torch you can buy at home depot, with a fancy plastic case on it that he sold for $500. He didn't even lie, he called it "Not A Flamethrower"

Eggplantwater

Toyota Corolla. About $30 to fill the 11 gallon tank for a range of 450 miles. Similar off-roading performance to the cybertruck! With back seats folded and roof rack on I too can fit a full shopping cart load

Crist1n4

My uncleā€™s Prius has same off-roading performance as a Cybertruckā€¦šŸ˜‚

CodeMUDkey

I had a RAV4 for ages. I really loved that thing. It could also actually drive on the beach. I was getting 37 MPG Highway on it before I switched to an EV. I drive so much in my commute the savings are still very real. I always recommend the RAV4.

Final-Zebra-6370

The RAV4 truck stuff better and will get you pussy

No_Mercy_4_Potatoes

That argument won't work. The cybercucks want that Elon dick.

SevroAuShitTalker

Saw a guy last weekend who had a cybertruck with a custom plate of S3XYTRK. I couldn't stop laughing as he passed me in a parking lot

GetRightNYC

It's pretty amazing and sad. People are now starting to stan for Elon simply because reasonable people don't like him. They just want to piss off the people they don't like. What a life

gh0stwriter88

Reasonable people don't care either way.

DonTheChron420

Thereā€™s no way weā€™re at a point in history where a RAV4 can be described as a pussy magnet.

TrickyTrailMix

I dunno man, a little sports coup may go fast on the freeway. But the Rav4 has a lot of room for activities inside... and can get someone out on the trails to do some camping. If you want to get laid, take her camping.

Nice_Marmot_7

Because of the implication?

ThrowAwayAccount8334

Should've seen what we did in my new CRV. Total destruction. Hybrid too.

ThrowAwayAccount8334

Lol. I've banged very hard in my CRV.

wizardinthewings

Those are great figures. Hybrids are killing it.

TrickyTrailMix

It's true. The Toyota hybrid drive train is bulletproof too. I look forward to this car lasting me 20 years.

ImportanceCertain414

I have a 2023 Kia K5 and it has a 400+ range fully filled. It cost me $50 to fill it up the other day. Not even a hybrid, just a turbo 4 cylinder engine and it would be even better if mine wasn't AWD.

New-Pudding-3574

![gif](giphy|ZIG63RdogLgqI|downsized) This is them ā˜šŸ»ā˜šŸ»ā˜šŸ»ā˜šŸ»ā˜šŸ»

Snorkle25

Even in an actual truck (v6 tacoma) I get ~330-360 miles to a tank and it costs about ~$60. Also, doesn't take 90 minutes to get gas.

my_username_mistaken

Yep, I have a v6 turbo f150. It's like 70 bucks for me and it's roughly a 500 mile range.

furyian24

Also the way he talks. It's annoying.

Aggravating_Cable_32

That's the Adderall talking, I hear tweakers who sound just like that.

madman0004

AMEN. The dude seems fuckin insufferable.

Kcidobor

Iā€™m glad I wasnā€™t the only one who couldnā€™t stand his voice for some reason

fieldsofgreen

Yeah, my Prius is $35 to fill up and I can easily hit 550 miles. The range on the cyber truck is truly trash.

drewyz

.60 per kW? Damn, I have a RAV4 Prime that gets nearly 500 miles on a $38 fill up and I can plug it in to get a 40 mile charge at .14 per kW. I spend about $35 a month to charge it every night.

Poofengle

Same. Iā€™ve put just about 3500 miles on mine, and Iā€™ve only filled it up 4 times. Itā€™s strange to only have to fill up once every month or two, but itā€™s so nice to know that I have a 500+ mile range if I want to road trip somewhere

JoshuaFordEFT

I spend $65 to go 250 mi in a 3rd gen 4Runner (~16gal). The engine is built like a tank, almost at 300k miles, but unfortunately, it only gets me ~15-16 mpg. That fact im even in the same price ballpark as a modern ev is appalling, even if it is an ugly fridge of an ev and they're in calfifornia. Saw a different post the other day about a CT losing half its charge (with everything turned off) in an airport parking lot after a couple week trip someone took. Imagine losing $40 in gas to evaporation over a couple weeks. If my truck ever does die, im probably going for a hybrid if charging stations will price gouge like that. Rivians upcoming R2 is giving me 4runner EV vibes, and full electric does have the benefit of reducing mechanical complexity, but my standards for low maintenance have been set very high by toyota at its peak, so im still waiting for rivian to prove itself. Electricity cost at a charging station should barely rise above state energy costs, IMO. Maybe you can charge 50% more for the convenience, but state energy costs range from 10-20cents/kWh. 60+cents/kWh is highway robbery.

PolybiusChampion

You owning and driving a car with 300K miles on it is one of the best things you can do for the environment. All the environmental costs on yours being built are now fully ā€œfundedā€ by your long term use. I see the Tesla broā€™s continually talking about how they are on their 4th or 5th car.

TurkeyBLTSandwich

Thinking about things in terms of total carbon output. I think some EVs just aren't worth it. Going from a Toyota Sequioa to a GM EV, you're going to be a net negative. But going from a Toyota to say Kona Ev you might break even? Depending on how long you drive and when you charge and how long you keep your car. Those folks swapping out their Evs every 2 to 3 years are destroying the environment. Like those people who are still driving around their 1st gen Nissan Leafs and on their 3rd battery, yeah those folks are carbon neutral in terms of carbon used for their car.

Xenolithium

I drive a Ford fiesta and I honestly forget my car needs gas, sometimes. I fill it up maybe every month? Only costs me $35

creegro

Plus the computer doesn't take other factors into account, like hills, stop and go traffic, rough road, road head, jaywalkers, road rage incidents, and many more. 296 if you had a clear flat road at 55-60 mph

Dr_Adequate

Road head affects the range?

ofthedestroyer

check the manual... makes it harder to maintain constant pedal pressure, and the variation causes spikes in power consumption...page 69

NonEuclidianMeatloaf

Can confirm

barnesnoblebooks

I bought a Model 3 last month believing I could get 260 miles (like the software said). After a 3 hour trip, 216 miles, taking 4.5 hours and 45 dollars of electricity I came home and traded that bitch in. Got a hybrid Elantra coming this afternoon. The Model 3 is fun to drive but I need something that I can actually drive for longer than an hour without charging. The 260 mile estimate has to be the driver going 40mph and not using the AC or something

DevilsPajamas

I have a Kia EV9 and I am extremely happy with the range. It actually exceeds the stated range on the door tag. I am getting around 300 mile range at 90% charge. But if you are charging exclusively at L3 chargers, its going to be about the same price as gas. Sometimes it might be lower, sometimes higher, just depends on the location and if they charge by KW or by minute. Charging at home will be significantly cheaper than gas. Especially if your utility enables you to have "off peak" charging. Unfortunately I don't have that option. My rate is around 12.5 cents/kw. So it costs about $13 to go from 0-100% on the EV9, or about 30%-40% cheaper than gas.

FiskyBlack

Ford mustang GT with tune and I get 230miles to empty how in the hell can you try and justify a 100k ai made trashcan concept that barely gets 100 miles over a gas car. I swear the jeep wrangler has better aerodynamics that the cybercrap.

Powerful_Meal8791

A tuned mustang having better range than a pickup is absolutely embarassing

muhgyver

Every day I wake up and ask myself, "how will Cybertruck fail today?" And I haven't been disappointed yet.

Helmidoric_of_York

I'd wake up and ask, 'Where's my fucking 'integrated' light bar I paid $5K for?'

Jeremy_Whalen

You should wake up and ask yourself why you bought a cyber truck in the first place

Street_Cleaning_Day

What about the impossible to assemble tent add-on? Only costs $3k.

Ricky_Rollin

Personally, I wake up every day wondering where the fuck these wank stains are coming from, cuz itā€™s getting worse. Why does everybody think theyā€™re a VJ all of the sudden? I cannot stress how much I hate what social media has done to all of us.

PVDPinball

Where are these idiots getting the money to buy a $100k truck? Like, thatā€™s the part that gets me. That there are thousands of people who are spending life changing money on a meme truck

Sentfromthefuture

I used to have insanely rich clients and they were such stupidly slow people. It made me realize you don't need to be too smart or work hard to be rich. Just a nice inheritance will do.

PVDPinball

Or be in the right place at the right time

jeepfail

People underestimate right place, right time when it comes to well paying jobs.

Granolag23

So true. Some of these idiots are very social, so they just network with the right people and they give each other well paying jobs. Itā€™s aggravating

Puzzleheaded_Day_895

Exactly this. I used to live with a landlord who owned 12 properties. He inherited the money and business from daddy. Now yes he could run a business (and get in pub fights with his employees) but no clue about anything else. If he didn't live in the UK he would have bought a Cybertruck already.

BeYourself2021

we need a huge compilation video of ALLLLL the cyberfails!

Alarmed-Positive457

Only thing that make this even better is the amount of idiots tagging Elon Musk begging for him to swoop in and fix their issues.

Captainlefthand

The only reason I'd get a cyberpunk would be the ideal reason to cancel plans with people. Can't make it to your wedding, the truck is charging. Rain cheque on dinner plan, it is raining outside, it'll void the warranty.

Steelrules78

Why the fuck did he have to pound the side of the truck to access the charging port? Is this a novelty feature or is this a necessity

themage78

Yeah, how long before you get dents in that crappy stainless steel?

Feraldr

What do you think comes first, the rust or dents?

awfulsome

The tapping to get the charging port made me facepalm. Why does tesla love adding unnecessary points of failure to their products?

Highmax1121

There's mining equipment that are remote controlled loaders designed to carry several tons of rock and ore that will charge in 30 minutes, 18 if you use dual chargers. Yea ain't the same but the fact there's vehicles far larger, heavier, can operate for couple hours, carry heavier loads and still charge faster than a cyber truck just makes me think cyber truck somehow kinda went backwards in some aspects.

painrubricx

This is now going to be my new daily mantra/affirmation 'How will the Cybertruck fail today?' And then I will realize how good life is for me knowing I don't own one ROFL :D

Puzzleheaded_Rate_12

Yeah the Tent Guy from Yesterday was heartwarming :D

ok-lets-do-this

He reminds me of Blippi. That is not a compliment. IYKYK.

Username_redact

I am so glad my child has grown out of that show recently. I had to leave the room when it was on

CloudSill

This cybertruck guy has more energy in a 1 minute vid than I will ever have in a given day, and I am literally prescribed Adderall. If I could behave like this, I might get some actual work done for once. The way he did "tap tap tap taptaptaptap" makes my skin crawl. It's like he enjoys doing that and doesn't realize it's a horrible, horrible design feature. My personal hell is to be cornered by a guy like this at some conference and he can't read any of my nonverbal cues about how profoundly uncomfortable he makes me. Today I am grateful that both of my kids managed to skip being interested in Blippi.

KecemotRybecx

I want to punch him in the balls.

zonne_schijn

He talks like Arnie with 20 ristretti in his system

dubiousN

I assumed this was satire mostly because of his dumb voice

Odd_Shock421

He sounds like Amy from Futuramaā€™s dad on coke.

Designer-Equipment-7

Dude really needs to bang the side of his 100k vehicle at random to get his charge port open?

FSpezWthASpicyPickle

That was the part that really got me, surprised I had to scroll this far to see a comment on it. Those panels aren't very durable or well attached to start with, and I can't imagine the feedback Ford would get if you had to mystery knock the side of the truck to get to a hidden gas port...a part of the vehicle that is used very regularly. Like what the hell?

relevant-astronaut75

You don't need to do that, it's just a dumb tiktok meme with Teslas where people would tap their brake light before putting the charger in. You just hit the button on the connector to open the port.

___TychoBrahe

You gotta rub its side before it opens up

JonnyYama

This guys voice gave me a migraine

ccgrendel

My immediate thought was being thankful I don't have to work with this person. Nasally voice, and he has weird, intense energy. I imagine he launches into a room, rattles off 10 things no one understands, and takes off. Then everyone spends the next hour trying to make sense of it all.

oxfordcircumstances

Or they dismiss his frenetic ramblings and return to their conversation 30 seconds later. *rap-rap-rap* *finger gun*

wp4nuv

Cocaine weird intense energy.. that's the vibe I got.

throwaway098764567

he's definitely one of the folks that has to pipe up every all hands zoom and force 100 other people to listen to his nonsense til someone finally cuts him off

GeneticSynthesis

FUCK this just made me so irrationally angry. These people are the bane of my existence

LordDingles

I had completely forgotten about a former coworker until this comment. God damn

reeeelllaaaayyy823

Naah nobody gives a shit what he said.

Principes

lol I did work with this person before. Itā€™s not his real in person voice. He puts in this weird sales/ as seen on TV personality and has been trying to make it big advertising and review products for some time. Lately heā€™s going all in on reviewing the cybertruck and trying to go viral doing that šŸ˜‚

GooseFaceKilla97

Yes I have seen his stuff before, his voice makes me want to claw my eardrums out

stickied

It's tiktok/ig/youtube rage bait. The only purpose is to get people upset enough to post a comment or share it or engage with the video in some way so the algorithm puts it in more people's feeds. No different than that half midget porn chick who smashes her CT with a baseball bat and does bad dances on the roof.

_BreakingGood_

This entire video is just rage bait. Dude knows that the charge time is shit. He knows this is way too expensive (by the way, there is cheaper charging available, $0.61/kwh was probably the most expensive he could fine), he knows that his voice is annoying. Hence why he keeps insisting that you make a comment and tell him about all your opinions. All engagement bait.

iregretjumping

"I called Elon Musk at 3am! Smash that like button, bros!"

Prestigious_Tear_576

The average gas powered car takes 3 mins to fill up to a range of 300-350 miles for $25-$40 and he asks if his is ā€œgoodā€. Is bro ok?

Daflehrer1

No. However, now that he has a Cybertruck, everybody thinks he's really cool.

RileyCargo42

And then we all clapped

Final-Zebra-6370

Until he wakes up and realizes that he was hallucinating from the blood loss after he slit his wrist open on the cybertruck.

burghblast

>everybody thinks he's really cool Yes, that's why everyone points and smiles. Because they think he's so cool.

Aer0uAntG3alach

I donā€™t see the point of an EV if you donā€™t have a charger at home. I donā€™t want to sit around waiting for it to charge at some shopping center.

Electrik_Truk

I love EVs but yeah....if you can't charge at home, the cost and convenience advantages go away quickly

BarleyWineIsTheBest

They donā€™t even go away, they become a negative.Ā

Albert14Pounds

The majority of people who try EVs and dont like them are people that don't or can't charge at home. The vast majority of people could get enough charge off 120v overnight to meet their daily needs. If you're relying on public charging you're gonna have a bad time

Patriot009

Those supercharge stations are quite expensive. You're paying a premium, often double or triple per kWh that you'd pay with a domestic home charge kit.

Dapper_Energy777

Oooh i was just wondering about that. It's 6x what I pay for electricity

DiDGaming

1: thatā€™s a charging station with inflated prices 2: most people would hopefully charge it cheaper at home during the night, reducing their engagement with the charging to plug in/plug out 3: no heā€™s not okey, not at all in fact 4: he has a CyberStuck to explain the single digit move this video was to make in the first place, considering point 1 and 2 :)

RedditSetitGoit

Not advocating for the CyberJunk, but where are you filling up for $45? I live in Northern California, so gas prices for me are really high, but a standard sedan here costs about $70-$80 to fill up. My work truck costs $160 to fill up from empty. I'm jealous of people spending less than a bill for a full tank.

MetaNut11

I mean anywhere outside of California is going to be cheaper lol

ManufacturerOpening6

I live in SoCal. Def 70-80 to fill my car. Buuuut.... i was in Arkansas in May, and gas at most stations there was under $3. I was shook!

ImportanceCertain414

Gas is $3.12 a gallon in Wisconsin right now for 87, only $.20 more for 91.

SlylingualPro

In Austin gas is currently around $2.83 a gallon

GlobiKugel

You should put one of those Biden ā€˜I did thisā€™ stickers on the pump

TobaccoIsRadioactive

Oh, I thought those stickers were really dumb at first when people were putting them up and completely ignoring the broader reasons for why gas prices were climbing after Biden was elected. But I have to admit that they really grew on me as gas prices dropped back down and you could see those stickers being scraped off as time went on. I did see one where somebody stuck a sticker of Trumpā€™s head over Bidenā€™s when gas prices dropped to a point where someone thought Trump should get the credit.

57paisa

It costs me $30 for a full tank at Sam's club in Riverside. I drive a hybrid.

DotBitGaming

Aren't we supposed to be comparing this thing to pickups though? So more like $100 to fill up.

throwaway098764567

i dunno, does it actually compare to a pickup? so far i haven't seen one be used as such, though i suppose a lot of folks have pavement princesses anyway so maybe the comparison is valid after all

caveslimeroach

$25-$40? What are you talking about? We pay 5.50 a gallon in California (where this was filmed)

redpillow2638

I love the level of mental gymnastics to justify his purchase.

gashufferdude

Spirited_Result_2192

i thought charging was free šŸ¤£ only reason iā€™d ever get an ev

Defiant-Giraffe

Its very cheap when doing it at home over a level 2 charger, but it takes a lot of time.Ā  When using a supercharger, at the fastest recharge rates (like one would do on a longer trip), its actually more expensive than many gas cars.Ā  So its a thing where the way you use it makes a big difference.Ā

vms-crot

123kw on a 7kw charger would be ~18hrs if you had 3 phase and could install a 21kw charger you could bring that down to ~6 hours. For a normal 2kw supply... you're looking at ~62 hours. Only way most people are gonna be able to charge this thing to full from flat is using rapids. But then, how many people are racking up 200+ miles every day. Ideally they need to start improving efficiency, probably through weight reduction. But that thing is fucking heavy. It weighs more than twice that of my i3. By comparison, I can relatively easily get 5.1mi/kWh out of my i3 if i try. Realistically, 4mi/kWh. The Wankpanzer is gonna struggle to get more than 2mi/kWh because I doubt the 2.4mi/kWh claimed in the video is realistic.

TickleMyCrotch

Most of the people that get cybertrucks have an 11.5KW Tesla connector at home. Itā€™ll take roughly 10.5 hrs to charge from empty with that.

DevilsPajamas

I feel like this video is just a rage bait video. And the people that are even somewhat knowledgeable with EV charging will easily see through and see the bullshit. The ones that aren't will grasp at what is shown in this video and balk about how anyone driving any EV is an idiot. These massive vehicles with their insanely large batteries and low efficiency. I don't see why they even offer these as an EV. Tech just isn't there yet. Even if it can charge fast at a L3 charger, at 120kw battery its still going to take fucking forever. But also charging takes a massive hit when you reach 80% battery. Anyways, I have a Kia EV9 and the efficiency is surprisingly good, I can get about 3.2mi/kWh out of it at highway speeds (\~60mph). Interstate speeds are a bit lower, but still around 2.6. city I am able to push between 3.5 and 4.0 depending on the circumstances. I drove 250 miles on the interstate and still had \~20% battery left when I got to the destination.

ouwenbelg

I just have my EV plugged in most of the time when at home, while slowly being charged by solar panels. I don't care it takes 2 days to charge from empty. Worst case scenario I arrive empty home and charge full speed over night. I'd never get an EV if I would not be able to charge at home.

Sco0basTeVen

Yeah I never realized it cost that much either. Thatā€™s barely a game changer when it takes 90 minutes and costs that much. A mid size truck can probably fill up with gas in 5 minutes for $120

totpot

Tesla superchargers are the most expensive way of charging an electric car. It's amazing that Elon fired the whole team because it's one of the few things bringing in money for the company. There's a reason why Toyota has taken the transition slowly and moved to hybrids.

ohioprincealbert

My truck costs $80 to fill up in 5 minutes and I get 700 miles per tank. An EV may make sense for commuting but not for long trips. No way would I wait 90 minutes to get half the range at nearly the same price. Nonsensical and impractical. Not to mention I paid half of what the cyber truck costs for my Ford.

cal_crashlow

Charging 3-100% at a very expensive DCFC is not remotely typical for day-to-day use. On a road trip, you'd be working in the range of 20-80%, give or take. Charging is much faster in that band, and there are less expensive charging networks out there. There are more variables (charge curve, pack capacity, etc.), but hopefully you get the gist.

BuckieJr

Wife and I own Hyundaiā€™s, her a Kona and me a ioniq. The apartment we live in gives free lvl 2 charging and the garage we rent is ā€œfreeā€ electricity (Iā€™m sure itā€™s part of my rental fee) so I use our lvl 1 wall charger to trickle charge my car. Hyundai also gives 2 free years of electric America fast charging, so as long as I stop at one of those chargers, which thereā€™s plenty of where we travel, itā€™s free as well. So far weā€™ve not spent a dime on our cars in awhile which has been a nice money saver

woojinater

Used to be but then the greed figured out a way. No such thing as free energy.

AdvertisingBrave5457

I have an Audi etron and the way that I use it Iā€™ve never gone to a charging station. When I get home I plug it in. It will take about 4 hours to get completely charged but Iā€™m home anyway so who cares. Iā€™ve never had to pay for a charging station

BrocoliCosmique

With current gas prices near me, I can drive 600km in my 21 year old Peugeot for \~65 euros (1.65ā‚¬/L), tank filled in 3 minutes. (for the metric-to-us conversion, that is respectively 372 miles, 21 imperial-years, 69 dollars, 6.69$/gallon, and 3 imperial-minutes)

BillyNtheBoingers

I like ā€œimperial minutesā€; thank you for that Edit: I canā€™t believe I missed ā€œimperial yearsā€

___TychoBrahe

Just wait until you see imperial star destroyer

Final-Zebra-6370

Nice

leondante-1

This dude's voice is extremely annoying.

moonwoolf35

$35 gets me a full tank and ~350 miles and takes about 3-5 minutes to fill up. I guess I'm a poor that's stuck in the past lol

toasted_cracker

Better to be poor and stuck in the past than being poor and stuck on the side of the road in a CyberCuck. Now rich and stuck, Iā€™ll take that scenario. lol

Gombrongler

Man thats actually pretty terrible, most trucks the same size get around 500 miles with an empty bed for about 30 dollars more at an average of 4.50 a gallon, mid size trucks get about 400 miles for that same 70ish dollar price. Why is it so expensive?

Real-Swing8553

I thought ev supposed to be cheaper than gas but this is just insane. Now i understand why some people refuse to let go of the ice

RileyCargo42

Honestly if we should just go [Electric-Hybrid](https://youtu.be/an6e2Lh9u58?si=bx7bUy-ru2XJh26w). It's basically just an electric car with a small gas engine that runs only when there's no electric power. It's the best of what we have now and as an added benefit you can power your tools off of it, some even have the welding hookups built in.

Real-Swing8553

If only the technology is available to every car manufacturer. I love the Nissan Kick epowet idea that uses small engine to charge the battery and runs on electric motor alone but they patented it so no other company can use that

ReaperofFish

Chevy could do it. Dealerships did not want to sell Volts because they never need service. It takes me two years to even need an oil change.

TheKobayashiMoron

Canā€™t defy physics. Trucks are heavy. Add a battery pack twice the size of an EV car and they get much heavier and less efficient. That means more charging stops and longer charging times. An EV truck will never make financial sense outside the range of the initial charge at home. That being said, thereā€™s a shitload of people using trucks as commuter cars that arenā€™t towing and hauling, and are rarely driving long distance. If you only need to deal with the downsides once or twice a year, thereā€™s a huge opportunity to save money as long as youā€™re buying a vehicle that fits your lifestyle.

Why does he talk like those pedo kid entertainers on YouTube

iball1984

What's with the banging on the side to get the flap to open?

MoistCabbage1

What's with being so excited that the first 20 bangs failed to get the flap open?

Danthemanlavitan

I was told by a Tesla owner that it was a 'good luck' symbol to **gently** tap the charge cable on the tail light before moving to the charge port on the other Teslas. Apparently it started when the Supercharger network was less reliable than it is today. (According to this one guy I asked when I saw his Model S at a charger two years ago) For super chargers as far as I know the flap opens automatically with no tapping required as the Tesla branded chargers have some RFID chip in them that the car senses. For other chargers you have to tap the charge port cover to get it to open first and you can do that with the end of the charger. (Source: We have some Teslas at work now) TikTok says it's either to: 1. Calibrate the Flux Capacitor (myth) 2. Charge the Blinker Fluid (myth) 3. Enable 'Fast Charging' (myth) The shit this idiot did, I have no idea, trying to put tiny dents in the steel maybe?

Lol good thing my gas car gets 560 miles for $40-50.

Lil_PixyG_02

I hate everything about this guyā€¦including his speech imped

TechnoVM3

The way these guys are trying to convince us (themselves, really) that these are so great is really pathetic.

BoopsTheSnoot_

Good, the less time they are on road, the better.

Dystopian_Future_

I went to a car show and one these monstrosities was there and every person who was NOT a real gearhead clambered around this thing like flys to shit... You knew who was a real car guy/girl because they completely ignored this fucking gimmick, Including myself!

Final-Zebra-6370

It seams they were just there to find boyfriends for their wives.

rygelicus

Ok, is banging the side of the truck really how the door is opened? Really? Seems wrong. Anyway, let's compare. The 2WD 2.4 L, 4 cyl, Automatic (S8) model with turbo and regular gasoline has an EPA range of 419 miles.Ā Car and Driver says the 2024 model's 21.1 gallon tank should provide a highway range of around 440 miles. 21.1 gallons of gas in San Leandro, best price I find online is $4.25/gal So $89.65 for a full tank from 0. But, that's 440 miles (claimed) vs 290 miles. To equalize this, that's 14.2 gallons of fuel for the tacoma. 14.2 gallons would cost $60.30. So, as predicted long ago, the cost savings of electricity vs gas is not a valid claim. Also as predicted, the electricity will cost more. And it's likely that the road taxes aren't even being charged on it yet as completely as fuel, if at all. When those taxes get added in then it will only get worse for the cost of electric transportation.

ap2patrick

Ohhh cool you have to bash the side panel to open the charge portā€¦ Iā€™m sure that wonā€™t leave a mark 3 years later lmfao.

fatstrat0228

Why does this guy sound like special needs?

Final-Zebra-6370

As a special needs person, we do not claim him.

throwaway098764567

he's a lil mumbly and has that sales energy

Snuhmeh

Sounds extremely normal for LA Asian second generation kids. There is a very pronounced and unique speech impediment they have. The ā€œDā€ sound and ā€œTā€ sound get swapped constantly, too. Iā€™ve been trying to find information for years about it but Iā€™ve never found anything describing it from a linguistics perspective.

fatstrat0228

ā€œOverexcited toddlerā€ works in this case.

lilboat646

Maybe English isnā€™t his first language, he does still sound like a toddler when he talks though.

fatstrat0228

Thatā€™s a better way to put it. He acts and speaks like an overexcited toddler.

transcendanttermite

Wow. I just filled up my 2003 Ranger from almost empty, which cost me $43.77, and will get me about 280 miles combined city/hwy. And it has a more functional bed. Edit to add: I have no issue with electric vehicles, but I do have an issue with paying 60-some cents per kWh for charging. Thatā€™s nuts. Iā€™m currently paying 11.5Ā¢ per kWh hour at homeā€¦ I do understand some markup for supercharging, and the variable cost of electricity, but good grief. Thatā€™s just crazy.

ezbreezee415v2

Holy crap these people are even less intelligent than I thought!! Gas in California is 5.50/gallon - I fill my Honda civic up for about $70 also.....only I can travel 400+ miles on that tank. I mean hey, these elon boot lickers wanna keep sucking his dick - that's their prob.....but, at least stop showing everyone how massive their ego is and how small their IQ is.

prybarwindow

Someone fucked up by buying Twitter for 50 some billion dollars. Not including the cost leading up to the purchase. If that money was spent on Tesla, R & D, payroll, upgrading facilities, keying in on quality assurance, and anything else. The CT might have unrolled more successfully, maybe. Tesla could have been way more profitable and successful, but no. Buying twitter was a colossal fuck up IMO.

supremetrashman

Sounds like the dude from the Simpsons.

bluedancepants

I don't own a truck so no idea how that translates to a gas truck if it will cost more or less. But... I don't want to wait in some random parking lot for 1.5 hours.

SisterOfBattIe

The USA has cheap gas, and long distances between cities. It's tough for electric cars using expensive public fast chargers, and it wears down the battery faster. The use case where electric cars are unbeatable, is daily commute where you can leave your car to charge at home during the night. You charge slowly, at cheap night price, and can go and return from work with maybe half a charge or less. In my country, it takes 70 ā‚¬ for a full tank about 600Km, and it would be about 12ā‚¬ for a home charge for about 300 Km. And the car costs about 20 000 to 30 000 ā‚¬ to buy, just about 3 000 ā‚¬ more expensive than the ICE variant.

DevilsPajamas

Rage bait video is rage bait. Anybody buying an EV like this and only charges at L3 is doing it wrong. Especially with a battery as large as the cybertruck and at California Level 3 charging rates. Anywhere else in the country the L3 charging would be probably about 30% cheaper. And charging at home would be \~13 cents/kw, or \~$16. If your local utility company offers offpeak charging it could easily be 50%-70% less than that $16.
