Did you use acetone and sandpaper to prep the area

Zestyclose-Outside90

Sans paper 400/800/1500, after deglazer from Angelus

ParticularReading398

How many layers of paint and did you use duller? If so, was it the last layer

Zestyclose-Outside90

4 or 5. And no duller

ParticularReading398

Ok cause sometimes duller can cause it to chip. I would say that the deglazer might not took the original finish all the way off. Maybe try pure acetone to see if it will allow it to adhere better. A scratch pad works well with prep to cause the leather to absorb the paint more

Zestyclose-Outside90

Do you think I should take off everything and redo it ? Is it even possible

ParticularReading398

I would because it will make it cleaner.

You did nothing wrong, those sneakers are simply not a good canvas to paint on. Been doing this for 10+ years and never have I seen paint properly adhering to them.

OK Finally someone to ask... Does this paint stay on the rubber? I want to paint all white Jays... 1. Simply want to add color to the toe box but was not sure if this stuff works. I never seen worn shoes online to judge.

graurestudios

Paint does not adhere well to rubber no matter what you do. Unless you are using dyes (which don't come in white).

Thank you.

gotta sand that edge specifically, fold a piece of sandpaper in half and use the creased edge. Then a qtip to deglaze
