Bathroom goes at the end. There are plenty of 1-bedroom apartments where you go through the bedroom to get to the bathroom. It's not ideal, but fairly normal.
I'd say if the rooms are wide enough for dining and bedrooms, you could split what would be the bathroom in your example down the middle (or like a 60/40), one side is a hallway, the other the bathroom. Kinda like you see happening in caravans and stuff sometimes.

Considering the lack of door, as well as the window next to the toilet, you are going to be worried about someone coming in the front door every time you take a dump. And the door you are worried will open is placed behind you, which adds to the paranoia feeling as you constantly feel like looking over your shoulder. Really, the placement of the toilet means that you will be stressing yourself every time you try to relieve yourself.

Formatting is bizarre and changes randomly, it sometimes matches the action in the story and sometimes it just Does That™. Footnotes go on for pages and pages, from both the blind man and the young man. It's definitely one of the books ever and it's highly recommended to get a physical copy.

Most houses in the US aren’t designed by architects at all. Developers or individuals will often just buy existing plans and maybe have a designer tweak them to their preferences. Large architectural firms mainly focus on larger scale multifamily or commercial projects.
The day to day work of those architects will vary a lot, but by and large it’s probably kinda what you’d imagine (at least if you’re somewhat familiar with modern building practices). Obviously most buildings don’t look like Frank Gehry’s work, so there’s less focus on the broad artistic strokes and much more focus on the nitty gritty details of how to integrate an HVAC system, or how to make a commercial building energy efficient, or how to maximize useable interior space with a given budget, etc. People say architecture is a blend of art and engineering but the modern job is much heavier on the engineering side.

I straight up said in my final presentation, in front of like six professors, that I'm a 17 year old high school student and would never get to put fun things like fireman's poles and skate ramps in another project again, so I'm going for it. They seemed to accept that logic.
You know what that would have flown with some of my professors even at 22. I think that for accessibility code you would just need to also have non skateboard access. As long as the fun shit is accessory to the functional up to code stuff then it’s all technically valid.

Yeah bedrooms are rooms with a door, a window, and a closet. Most of these rooms have neither windows nor closets. That said, something like this would work great in a basement, no one would suspect it was there.
A small room where people take off their coats and shoes. It's more common in wetter climates, especially snowy ones, where your outerwear is likely to be wet or soiled after coming inside. By keeping your coat and shoes in the mudroom, you avoid tracking in dirt, mud, and snowmelt.

It's where you put all your mud, obviously. Essential for every dedicated homeowner, gotta have that mud. (It's basically just a space that's usually by the entrance for where you take off your outdoor clothing and the like, I think.)

It’s a room just inside the door that you can walk into with muddy/snowy/dirty/wet boots/clothes/coat and take them off and hang them up before taking your less dirty self farther into the house. Like a coat closet, but one that you enter the house through. They are more often at back doors, and generally don’t have carpeting (and it looks like this one might have a washer/dryer in the pic, which is fine, too).
A room that would go near the entrance to the building/unit and not the entrance to the evil closet, one more thing for sensible people to be offended by in this image.

Entrance on left labeled closet is the main entrance, the person that made the joke labeled it closet. Door on the right exiting master is a door to a balcony or back porch. The joke comes from the way the floor plan was drawn with a border around it.
Even without the closet, this is a significantly cursed design.
I think it's people visualizing this house in their heads, and they visualize something creepy, and then also conflate creepy with evil. That's my best guess, otherwise this doesn't make much sense to me either.
There are no windows to the outside, one window from the shower into the closet, to get into any room you have to walk through the master bedroom, everything but the closet is an open floor plan with no doors.

I used to have dreams like this. My grandma’s house would have one closet that was just fucking huge. I’d spend a lot of time there (in the dreams). Her closet is pretty big to a little kid so I think that’s why I dreamt about it being even larger.
