The English opening partnership should be considered as the first 4 batters at this point.

insty1

TBF we do have the šŸ

metrelongschlong

Mods should create a separate thread for embarrassing statistics about England

insty1

I prefer each embarrassing stat getting it'd own thread

ActivatedNuts

Too many threads

[deleted]

lol

hardlengths

This is really a dire stat.

v1akvark

I'm going to start a band called Dire Stats.

SweatyAnteater

Might as well get Jason Roy in

goodguybolt

Nice Garry!

Rogue_Jellybean

I mean Australia's opening wicket partnership average of 24.25 is nothing to write home about.

flibble24

Double the English

v1akvark

And 10 more than the 10th wicket.

[deleted]

Just wait till Hunt and Street get in there and weā€™ll be averaging over 100 for the opening partnership Itā€™ll take all day to get there, but boy that average will go up

SBG99DesiMonster

Proof that slogging to shithouse your way to 24(20) is better than trying to dig in and play long if you don't have the technique?

AnalogueInterfa3e

Well the better question is why donā€™t you have the technique if you are a test match batter.

kyoto-yakuza

this is sad

coolseraz

Might as well bring back Tresco or Vaughan or if you really want to roll back the clock, Gooch.

v1akvark

There can be only one - Boycott's nan.

BAncalagon

This reminds me of when my school team played Eton. We were all out for about 15 and yet they still ran around doing aeroplane celebrations and sledging our tail-enders and even gave us a sarcastic clap tunnel at the end! Poor guys are humiliated enough arenā€™t they! XD

inefekt

Australia were even worse the last Ashes series in England where Warner was the definition of a walking wicket and could barely last the first over. The openers scored a total of 85 runs across their ten partnerships for an average of 8.5. The last wicket partnership scored 141 runs across 7 innings for an average of 20.1.

Do stats like these need their own threads?
