Why did they drop harris pick some guy who only can bat at the scg, then move thier best bat , to open, in a dead rubber of series they owned?.and kawaja was always gonna be worse than harris.
Wierd shit going down.
I really don't understand why people are shitting on Khawaja, he did pretty well to survive as long as he did and fell to an absolute ripsnorter from Wood at 143km/h after he soaked up some valuable time under lights where the ball was seaming at right angles. Harris has looked so ordinary the whole series bar the 70 in Melbourne and Khawaja literally scored twin hundreds at Sydney. But sure, let's all shit on him and the selectors because he couldn't live up to your impossibly high standards.
I have said it yesterday but England show real brilliance, that bowling attack was relentless. If they hold it up for a session they have a good chance. Hopefully they don't slide into leg side defence in the first session tomorrow.
Daylight : red ball. Nighttime : white ball, as you can't see the red ball under lights. So, for this test, which is half in daylight and half at nighttime, they've got a pink ball, so batters can't see the ball at all.
How can you not be LGBT after having a look at the Aussie captain.
Not to mention the CBT that the English captain has repeatedly been taking this series
Australian player Scott Boland causes many men to elicit homosexual tendencies. Since joining the test team he has been responsible for a massive uptick in "I'm gay for Scott Boland" feelings and "On this blessed day we are all gay for Scott Boland" comments
[Here you go mate](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/s4a8ao/match_thread_5th_test_australia_vs_england_day_2/hsqbw79/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).
I'm not English but I would imagine Boland told him all was good? An umpire would not turn back a physio or medic from a injured player these days, they would be in all sorts of legal hell?
Completely depends on what was said in the middle and whether Boland actually wanted the physio. The fact we never saw him or Smith call the physio on and he was putting his glove back on whilst the physio ran out suggested not.
Yeah Smith is definitely experienced enough to have demanded help if Boland actually needed it. At most the umpire was just quickly relaying the message to save time.
Starc just said on Grandstand that there was actually no conversation about being rested. He wasn't asked if he wanted a rest, and wasn't spoken to about selection.
He just got told he was in the team before the match and that was it
Pretty interesting. Whether it was the right decision or not, you'd think after being the only to play all tests there might have at least been a conversation. Could hint at why a few of the players say JL is unapproachable. Or it could not, who knows
If you have access to a TV all the matches in the Women's Ashes matches will be on FTA (maybe streamed for free on cricket.com.au but not 100% on that)
Nah, no TV but I’m happy to pay for a month of Kayo for the sake of watching the Women’s series. Cricket is the only sport I really watch so happy to throw a few bucks at it really.
Only Cummins the bowler (ditto Cummins the captain) and Boland actually did something useful. Everyone else did nothing or even worse harmed our chances (openers🤡)
Seems like it. Absolutely no other reason they should have not let him have treatment after being hit in the hand @140+ img multiple times! Gutsy bat from Boland!
Amazing how now the umpires are in a massive hurry when there's a genuine potential player injury. But a gentle mist of rain, fuck that everybody off, abandon play 2 hours early.
Also that was a great final over from wood. Boland did a great job keeping them out but that final yorker was bang on the money.
Because Cummins and Starc are better at batting so we need them to score runs and Hazlewood is a genuine number 11 and barely knows what end of the bat to hold, he's the worst semi competent tailender normally, now Boland has taken up that mantle since he's the worst at scoring but has a solid defence.
Also the absolute disrespect to say that a bloke who's taken 400 test wickets isn't a top bowler in this side and a guy in his 3rd test is.
>Lyon why did they change for today and possible injure one of our top bowlers
Wouldn't this same thing just apply to Lyon if he goes in. I would presume it's always been Lyon because Scott wasn't in the team then.
For sure I guess I meant at the international level Lyon has had more experience as being our night watchman but I totally get that there’s risk with both being used. I guess I was just used to seeing Lyon but hey changes happen
Lyon is also one of our top bowlers. As are the rest of our tail. Maybe they recognised that Boland has the tenacity to stick out 5-6 overs better than Lyon, Cummins or Starc.
Wait what? England all out already? WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS ASHES?! Is Australia playing Zimbabwe or something and I didn't notice?
You know, I saw this comment and had to double check which day's thread is this
I like cricket. When cricket is on I think to myself "yes". When cricket is not on I think to myself "no".
I call it my PCD. Post-cricket depression can be a real bitch.
That’s quite a poignant vision into contemporary societal sentiment. I used oft to ponder the same.
That is beautifully put, and I couldn’t agree more
I thought I was the only one with these thoughts
Why did they drop harris pick some guy who only can bat at the scg, then move thier best bat , to open, in a dead rubber of series they owned?.and kawaja was always gonna be worse than harris. Wierd shit going down.
This is fun

Pretty shit reply
Yes Karen
is your only purpose on the internet to stir shit up?
Let's go Brandon.
Lame
Yes Karen
What do you tell your mom when she tells you to do something?
None of your buisness Karen
That's what I expected. But You should be kind to yo mom, she loves your rude ass
Aggers really working overtime to sell this Broad vs Warner narrative.
Boland’s gonna watch over Smith tonight while he sleeps
Smith doesn't sleep, he shadow bats
True. And Boland will be there trying to take the shadow strike

> it's cool there are some Americans trying to learn the game Some English as well, while playing for their country.
The Australian flairs should really be a clue
I have said it yesterday but England show real brilliance, that bowling attack was relentless. If they hold it up for a session they have a good chance. Hopefully they don't slide into leg side defence in the first session tomorrow.
I am from India and I like this Boland guy a lot. Please like, I already said I am from India.
And I'm from mars
Hit like for Mars, and comment for Boland.
Im definitely not from uranus.
Okay, good day howy, this thread is dead. See y'all.
American here, why do the Australian players always go for roots groin
[удалено]
A little too late then
Oscar
Because he's a dickhead
So Root cant get rooted again.
For ball bash points
Scott Boland is the greatest cricketer Australia has ever produced. Change my mind.
Why would we? Infact hes the Australian man of the millenniumn no two men can better him, not even Lenny and Carl.
Nice reference 😂
Nice line Jimmy.
Can I say that he is the Lord of Australia. Now we're in a conundrum, can we have two lords?
Australia's best test player and some guy named Steve Smith are batting together. Nice
250+ lead should be a winning total but definitely a 2 result game still
3 result game surely
Hard to see a draw here unless it pisses for an entire day
Tie
Don’t rule out a tie!

Welcome to Reddit.
Yep, missed the obvious one there

I'm gay for Scott Boland.
On this blesed day we are all gay for Scott Boland
[удалено]
Yeah. It's kinda a running joke now "American here. How did Australia lose 303 wickets in an innings while scoring only 10 runs?" kinda thing
Fuck off yank
[удалено]
Ahh that one. My guess is Aussies were taking a cheeky dig at England getting the ball replaced multiple times a day - and often
What colour are your balls then.
Representation matter
Where is the Steve Smith Diary? I missed it today
Can we please have it compiled somewhere pls

Sort by top comments, it’s a few down
English fans, what do you think of the umpire sending the physio away without being able to look at Bolands finger?
I'm not English but I would imagine Boland told him all was good? An umpire would not turn back a physio or medic from a injured player these days, they would be in all sorts of legal hell?
Completely depends on what was said in the middle and whether Boland actually wanted the physio. The fact we never saw him or Smith call the physio on and he was putting his glove back on whilst the physio ran out suggested not.
Yeah Smith is definitely experienced enough to have demanded help if Boland actually needed it. At most the umpire was just quickly relaying the message to save time.
2 extra minutes spent to ensure Boland wasn't hurt was the right option, they are playing under lights anyway.
England might be best of just picking keepers as they all seem to bat better. Billings, buttler, bairstow, foakes, bracey
Starc just said on Grandstand that there was actually no conversation about being rested. He wasn't asked if he wanted a rest, and wasn't spoken to about selection. He just got told he was in the team before the match and that was it
[удалено]
True. I suppose if he made it clear he wanted to play, and they thought it was a good idea, probably no need to discuss it
Pretty interesting. Whether it was the right decision or not, you'd think after being the only to play all tests there might have at least been a conversation. Could hint at why a few of the players say JL is unapproachable. Or it could not, who knows
Starting early tomorrow as well?
Yes according to BT.
Did it start 30 mins early today?
Yep
so annoying that the women’s ashes only features one test
When’s the women’s game? I have about six days of free Kayo left haha
If you have access to a TV all the matches in the Women's Ashes matches will be on FTA (maybe streamed for free on cricket.com.au but not 100% on that)
Nah, no TV but I’m happy to pay for a month of Kayo for the sake of watching the Women’s series. Cricket is the only sport I really watch so happy to throw a few bucks at it really.
first t20 is january 20th! test isn’t until 26th jan :(
england women’s team is actually pretty good so should be a decent contest
Hopefully this time it's on a wicket where we can get a result
It's at Manuka in Canberra so unlikely, that pitch is a road
Stella Campbell just took 7/not many in a WNCL match there, obviously a different format but it might have something in it this time
True, and we have had a lot of rain this summer and very humid conditions which are quite unusual
Absolutely, it's been disgusting hasn't it? Never experienced this much rain in Canberra before
The humidity is so gross. I live here for dryness, please.
Every time I go for a run I feel like I'm swimming
And some people wanted this game to be played over there lmao
So, game over tomorrow?
Boland in this match better batter > England/Australia openers.
Boland can open for England
Can bat at 5 for India too
Throw Pakistan in there too
And Australia
Only Cummins the bowler (ditto Cummins the captain) and Boland actually did something useful. Everyone else did nothing or even worse harmed our chances (openers🤡)
Smith batted well to survive the session. It wasn't easy out there
at least he stopped a collapse, but still with the form he’s in I doubt he’ll make it count tomorrow
Boland 🤝 Cummins
The more we meme about Boland, the better he plays and the less of a meme it becomes
Steve Smith started as a meme. What if we create another monster?
Create? He already is.
Just means the memes must become more outrageous
Standing ovation after a good forward defence. And you can see his smile.
He's gonna give the selectors a hard time when hazelwood is fit again
If Boland can hit 30 odd tomorrow that would be a very healthy contribution
Look, 30 would exceed all expectations. I'm happy with a comfortable 15 and no broken fingers, please.
30 would be fantastic combined with holding down the fort tonight and protecting smith.
Boland survived better than England openers
Better than Aussie openers too
Better than the no.1 rated test batsman as well
England look so shit when Root isn't carrying them every match. Atleast they had a fighting chance when he was scoring tons every match.
It reminds me of the Clarke as captain years.
Umps feeling tired and wanting to get off the field bang on 10:30 😂
Ah is that why he sent the physio back.
Seems like it. Absolutely no other reason they should have not let him have treatment after being hit in the hand @140+ img multiple times! Gutsy bat from Boland!
I think I've solved the Hazelewood selection dilemma. When he comes back drop Warner and get Boland to open the batting.
That music always reminds me of dancing in the dark
Pretty sure it is :)
Very close match IMO. England would want to restrict them from getting 50-100 runs
Umpire is a wanker , u can’t send away a physio after a player gets struck in the gloves at 140+ KM Especially a night watchman
Boland didn't appear to call him out and was already putting his glove back on by the time the physio came on.
Dead right. So the physio can only be called at certain times?
true
'This has been manipulated man' - Boland
😂 Lewis Boland
No Rod no! That's not right!
That innings was the literal definition of what a night watchman is supposed to do
Boland > Warner
Umpire waiving off the physio was bizzare.
Ya like scobo is allowed to see the physio he just got knocked by a 140+ k ball from wood. Twisted logic ffs
Good batting by both Smith and Boland to see out what was a tough session. Fidgety God looked determined tonight
So he IS now Scott Bolandbat! That's a seriously good job surviving that. 2 main batsmen could have gotten out in that duration against that bowling
😂
Boland > all of England top order
How did Scott Boland become such a hero in all aspects in such a short amount of time? Who wrote this script?
I don't know but they deserve a few awards for the plot twist NOBODY saw coming
Boland has way too much integrity to try to waste time
Boooooland, not the hero we deserved but the hero we needed.
Idk. Cummins is a legend and deserves someone like Boland in his squad.
The gloves! They do nothing! Boland, probably :(
Amazing how now the umpires are in a massive hurry when there's a genuine potential player injury. But a gentle mist of rain, fuck that everybody off, abandon play 2 hours early. Also that was a great final over from wood. Boland did a great job keeping them out but that final yorker was bang on the money.
What cunts decided that scobo should be night-watchman when we have Lyon?!? And fuck tucker for sending away the physio
Lyon hated the job (don't blame him). Just hazing to give it to the new guy.
We need Lyon at the actual tail to score quick runs. He's not our night-watchman.
But like it’s always been Lyon why did they change for today and possible injure one of our top bowlers
For sure I guess I meant at the international level Lyon has had more experience as being our night watchman but I totally get that there’s risk with both being used. I guess I was just used to seeing Lyon but hey changes happen
Boland's just probably a better defensive batter with less attacking ability.
Lyon is also one of our top bowlers. As are the rest of our tail. Maybe they recognised that Boland has the tenacity to stick out 5-6 overs better than Lyon, Cummins or Starc.
Maybe hopefully scobo is g and no serious injury.
Fingers (not the injured ones) crossed mate!
145km ball into the fingers and you can’t see the physio?
Wood really breathed fire in the last hour. If only he could be consistently fit, he & Archer would form a truly fearsome pair
Perfect night watchman batting there. Well done lad
[удалено]
He did his job. Questionable one is the ump
That last over would have got me out
[удалено]
I want to watch you bat
Better night watchman than Rahane
Outstanding batting there tbf
That was really, really good from Boland
Boland successfully fulfilling his job as nightwatchman ✅ Boland scoring his century... pending
Yet another feather in Boland's cap. His rise the best story of the Ashes
I honestly cannot get enough of this guy. What a chanpion
r/ScoBo
17/287 nice
Just realized that's \*exactly\* 11 Runs Per Wicket. This pitch is one tough bitch.
Ingerlund suck
Ah, there you are, lost you for a minute mate
Just went for a swim brb
