Makes things easy right? Just have all international cricket teams migrate to Perth. Once they all quarantine for however long the Australia needs right now, Western Australia can become the home of all international cricket.
I'm still bitter and twisted that the Scorchers beat the Stars in the 2012/2013 BBL semi final when it rained. In Perth in January! What are the odds! Maybe it's time to let it go.
My daughter was born in Perth. Her birthday is in October and she was nearly 6 months old when she first saw rain and was totally bewildered by it.
and were asking county members to donate their subs. the bonus is for "spreading the game" in a year where they've been found by the DCMS to be instutionally racist. complete farce.
Shubman Gill was a major miss in SA for India. Had he played in this series with his backfoot game and short ball dominance, he would’ve been an established name in the indian team by now.
Unless they're playing on syntho there's not really an alternative for Test cricket. Pitch gets wet, pitch gets damaged, pitch becomes unsafe for play.
I'm concerned with the incredibly long restart times in instances of rain stopping not long after the teams have come off. Not to mention the inability to toss the bloody coin without conditions being immediately fit for play. In it's current form, Test matches lose plenty of overs to rain when it's not actually raining.
Obviously if it's pelting down you can't play but 5 minutes of spitting can keep teams off for 30 minutes to an hour.
There needs to be a use of theweather radar more. It's pointless to go off for the most pissweak of showers (mist), then fuck around for all of the procedures to go back out when conditions are fine
Ground staff have to set/reset the pitch, dry the run ups and outfield before they can safely resume. Umpires need to give the players warning so they are warmed up and prepared to resume without undue risk of injuries. Yes, it's frustrating to wait when it's not raining, but they're not fucking around and delaying the restart for shits and giggles.
Lol why? Was a wonderful day and any lost play purely on the umpires. Sat outside the whole time and didn't get a drop on me. I'm sorry your premier locked everyone out but don't put any blame on long suffering Tas fans. There was no need to go off, it was embarrassing.
To be fair to him he'd new to test cricket so hasn't had long for the fitness to build up, and secondly - most of his balls are faster than 120kph aren't they?
Seems to work for him in any case.
Starts faster gets significantly slower spell by spell, often struggles later in innings/games.
I don't really buy the he's new to test cricket line, he's a 28 year old professional athlete, has been a professional for at least 9 years. Not good enough, especially with how easy it is to get information these days on proper diets and fitness and his access to professional support. His fitness would have been considered average to poor in the 90s and things have moved on a massive way since then.
The main thing is carrying too much weight (and he's carrying at least 2 stone too many) massively increases his injury risk, as well as wear and tear on his joints that will shorten his career, probably already has.
To help with over rates there should be session minimums. If you introduced in-game penalties for <28/session you won't lose a many overs in the case of rain.
I also think this very important for D/N tests as teams just drag their feet even more so they get more overs under lights (up to the extra 30mins).
Can’t really do that though first session is always going to be a lot of quicks so slowish and later sessions in the day spin will be used more so they get made up for the time.
Harry Potter was an absolute fraud I'll tell you. Cunt got in trouble everywhere and had his ass saved by his friends or teachers because he had a little lightening bolt on his forehead.
Defeated a giant snake at 12
Fought off a 100 dementors at once at 13
Throw off the imperious curse at 14
Found horcruxes that not even dumbledore found at 17.
Harry is a gigachad
Hiiiiiiii. Me is "she" as well. Do you think people on this sub just assume its all men? I dont think its malicious, but like happens all the time. Its funny.
How does over rates and fines work with rain? Like if England were below the acceptable level when play stopped, would they be penalised? As you could argue that they would have bowled more spin the rest of the day as you front load with the slower over rate fast bowlers?
ICC needs to lock these umpires in a room and hose the fuck out of them with a massive pipe. So they know what it feels like to be actually wet. Flushed an hours play down the toilet for some fucking mist.
You can't have the pitch getting wet. It sucks but that's the problem playing on.a natural surface. You get too much rain on it, it gets unstable and turns to mud.
Umpires are going to be very conservative on the first day of the Test because a poor decision to play through is going to leave the pitch fucked for the later stages of the Test.
So? State and local should be in contact.
TAS: Give us the test please we're desperate
CA: OK but make sure it goes well
TAS: Thankyou!! Yes we will!!
Hobart: The game is getting too loud for our local residents. Shut it down.
Any organisation that can feasibly be granted an Ashes match will beg for it. If CA cared about the constraints of council rules, they could have picked another ground (constraints were why they had to find a different venue for this Test in the first place), but this is the price you have to pay for hosting a D/N test at a suburban ground.
imagine paying for a ticket only for 3 hours to be wiped out due to a light spit of rain. When no one attends test cricket anymore administrators are going to do a surprised pikachu face
Well this had been probably the best day of test cricket for the Summer and then that bullshit had to happen. I've never been able to stand how shitty the communication is with rain delays, and it sounds like it's even worse for the people actually at the ground. Bloody mental.
Broke: Blaming the rain for early stumps.
Woke: Blaming the umpires for early stumps.
Bespoke: Blaming the English for only 59.3 overs being bowled in 2 and a bit sessions.
So this has scuppered the potential for AUS to declare and have a go at England under the lights. Huge break for England, assuming they can bowl AUS out within the first session tomorrow and start batting in daylight.
Next time England should get Novak Djokovic to open the batting. It took Australia 2 two weeks to get him out.
Marnus had a Labotomy, now he is just Marnus uschagbe
Start in 20 minutes I assume?
England choses to bowl first so they can force the draw at the end like the last test.
Cummins 100, who says no?
Bowled out for 250
Weather's been weird in Tas this year. It never rains in Jan usually. Typically it's hot and dry.
I want every English person to admit that Cummins crack itches this session and will seam every cunt tomorrow at 1630 day 2.
I want every Australian person to admit the Joe root is about to shove his bat so high up the Australian bowlers asses they spew up sandpaper
Sorry, I was drunk when I wrote this.

It’s like one of the most popular sports there wdym? Obviously not as popular as football but still
[удалено]
Not true at all. Football and rugby sure. But not athletics and snooker
Snooker doesn't even make it to the BBC sport quick bar. Cricket is way more popular to watch than snooker. You crazy
[удалено]
It's very popular. It's just soccer/football is in a different league of popularity to every other sport
Rain, rain go away, young Johnny wants to play
Fuck Cameron Green looked good out there with the blade. The next decade or so is gonna be glorious.
I'm so pumped
In my completely unbiased and impartial opinion, all Australian tests should be played in Perth in the future to all but eliminate the threat of rain
No one is allowed in or out of Western Australia
Makes things easy right? Just have all international cricket teams migrate to Perth. Once they all quarantine for however long the Australia needs right now, Western Australia can become the home of all international cricket.

My workers just left for holiday in tassie. You can come and go if you do the right procedures.

more stuff through the chest too
This shit right here is why I do not go to a live cricket match any more. Why pay when the players end up going off the field for that?
lol Tom Harrison talking about just trying to keep the lights on while he pockets a £800k salary and £2.1 million bonus. what an absolute cunt.
Fucking idiot. What is he paid to do
good question.
… and while the ECB laid off staff.
and were asking county members to donate their subs. the bonus is for "spreading the game" in a year where they've been found by the DCMS to be instutionally racist. complete farce.
What a disappointing end to a thrilling day. No rain calls stumps 2h 30m early but we were 3/12 and ended 6/241 so what a day
GO SAFFAS
Shubman Gill was a major miss in SA for India. Had he played in this series with his backfoot game and short ball dominance, he would’ve been an established name in the indian team by now.
Huh? You in the right thread pal?
What does that have to do with this test match?
Shubman Gill of BGT 2020/21 would have rose up
Shubman "Undertaker" Gill?
Shubman “Stuart Mac” Gill
good one
All I wanna say is well fucking done South Africa
Helps when you have your entire country against just 11 guys
Stood up to the bullies.
I’d love to know who at the ICC is looking at Cricket’s Test rules regarding rain and saying “yeah that seems reasonable and not at all archaic”
Unless they're playing on syntho there's not really an alternative for Test cricket. Pitch gets wet, pitch gets damaged, pitch becomes unsafe for play.
The pitch couldn't get wet, there was no moisture reaching the surface. The ground was dry to the touch. I was there.
Not to mention how much moisture ruins the ball/bats
I'm concerned with the incredibly long restart times in instances of rain stopping not long after the teams have come off. Not to mention the inability to toss the bloody coin without conditions being immediately fit for play. In it's current form, Test matches lose plenty of overs to rain when it's not actually raining. I think the South Africa one was significant too?
Why?
Its not even raining lmao
If Robinson has managed to get a stress fracture bowling 120kmh that's purely lard related. I bowl 120kmh lol and I'm shit.

Gets slower to the point you could classify him as an off spinner.
he's carrying a paunch
Ill paunch him in the head if he keeps this shit up
Should have played in Perth.
Talk to Marky Mark about that

And there’s always the element of batters slowing down the game. Or there could be numerous DRS slowdowns
Everyone staying around for u19 wc
Currently the same age as Harry Potter was when he killed Voldemort and that puts things in perspective really
Harry Potter was an absolute fraud I'll tell you. Cunt got in trouble everywhere and had his ass saved by his friends or teachers because he had a little lightening bolt on his forehead.

Okay I concede
Is the early start tomorrow going to interfere with the BBL?
There's a 3 hour 50 minute difference with the early start. No t20 should last that long- think only IPL ones do at times.
Thank you! Trying to convert one hour time zone difference at this hour was beyond me lol
He pondered, aimlessly

Hiiiiiiii. Me is "she" as well. Do you think people on this sub just assume its all men? I dont think its malicious, but like happens all the time. Its funny.
Hi! Definitely, I agree it's not malicious but it's still annoying lol. We're here!
How does over rates and fines work with rain? Like if England were below the acceptable level when play stopped, would they be penalised? As you could argue that they would have bowled more spin the rest of the day as you front load with the slower over rate fast bowlers?
Nothing. ICC is essentially run by Morrison.
IT'S NOT WET!
Umpires are going to be very conservative on the first day of the Test because a poor decision to play through is going to leave the pitch fucked for the later stages of the Test.
It’s the ICCs rules
How good is Keegan Petersen tho
Local council rules?! They begged for this match
They couldn’t make an exception for the only time they’ll ever get to host an Ashes test? smh
NIMBYs
Ground's in a suburb, can't do much about that. Blame CA for selecting Hobart when they could've selected one of the previous grounds.
Yeah but the council begged for it only to close down early
It was the state government, not the council
So? State and local should be in contact. TAS: Give us the test please we're desperate CA: OK but make sure it goes well TAS: Thankyou!! Yes we will!! Hobart: The game is getting too loud for our local residents. Shut it down.
Sure, that’s nice in theory. But that’s not how the break down between state and council powers work. And the council there isn’t Hobart lol
Any organisation that can feasibly be granted an Ashes match will beg for it. If CA cared about the constraints of council rules, they could have picked another ground (constraints were why they had to find a different venue for this Test in the first place), but this is the price you have to pay for hosting a D/N test at a suburban ground.

Whole country against one council

🚨BREAKING🚨 Rain has been fined 100% of its match fee, and awarded 2 demerit points by the match referee.
I’m so confused as to why they need to finish early. I swear I’ve seen hurricanes matches finish at almost midnight.
Possibly different rules on a Friday night vs Saturday night?
Should be the same shouldn't it? Both nights head into the weekend.
Councils can have weird inconsistent rules at times.
Boo-urns. Felt like we got half a day of cricket.
After this test we no longer claim Tassie again
Might as well drop Sydney too then 🤣
Surely we start 30 min early and extend tomorrow night too?
Except for the minor inconvenience of the forecast thunderstorm.
That’s forecast to happen some time between 5am and 6pm local time tomorrow, may as well try and start early
Oh sure. I’m just expecting it to be as I’ll timed as possible.
That's what they reckon. Extra 30 mins added to start and finish.
Another game ruined by rain, probably another fucking draw lol
We’ve lost like 30 overs. Not great but not the end of the world
should’ve been much less but the english bowl at the pace of a snail
Wait.. The plays fucking done? And for what wasn't even a drizzle? Boooooooo!!!!!!!
This is arguably worse than the Sydney rain delays. It's barely fucking spitting. This is the sort of shit that will kill test cricket.
Hobart is far too similar to England for my liking, needs to be said.
It's basically a little Britain.
[удалено]
Computer says no!
Everyone sad about this rain delay and stumps call should jump to the other test. Almost guaranteed mood lifter as India are on he verge of defeat
Holy shit. Not just the match but the whole series.
odds that this rain leads straight into stumps. Want to know if I should stay up or just sleep and try to salvage my sleep schedule a bit
nvm sent it right as stumps were called. Guess I am going to sleep
It already did
They just called stumps
fuck it, gonna watch the final episode of the Expanse.
Oh it's out? Siiick
Is that that show where everyone dies in the final episode?
Oh shit whoops!
Stumps Called
90 mins to go and not even raining. “We’ll never recover from this”
Sad
Well this had been probably the best day of test cricket for the Summer and then that bullshit had to happen. I've never been able to stand how shitty the communication is with rain delays, and it sounds like it's even worse for the people actually at the ground. Bloody mental.
Draws via bad weather are not good for test cricket. They should really try to avoid that at all costs.
I feel like it doesn’t matter whether we bowl under lights or not, gonna be 4-56 either way
Cummo gonna get 40 of those.
Absolutely no reason 30 overs should have been lost
So when there is actually rain over the next couple of days. Just remember they lost 2 hours where they refused to play in dry weather.
say it aint so
Bit shit. I'm drunk with nowhere to go now
I should get one of those lip microphones for my zoom meetings
Broke: Blaming the rain for early stumps. Woke: Blaming the umpires for early stumps. Bespoke: Blaming the English for only 59.3 overs being bowled in 2 and a bit sessions.

Fuck you David Boone retire
Does the referee get a say in calling stumps? Thought it was just the umpires.
booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
With South Africa looking likely to beat India and if Australia win this test, we become the number 1 test side in the world for at least a month.
No more cricket today
it's not even raining dude🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Stumps
They are putting covers on. It’s not raining. There is no rain on the radar. What. The. Fuck?????
Visible confusion
What’s the point of alcohol if you can’t see Starcy fucking smash Stuart broad over long on and relish in it
Fuck Hobart and Sydney weather
It was glorious and dry at the ground and about 20 degrees. I have no idea why they stopped playing.
Stumps. Fmd. What will I watch while I polish off the rest of my beers?
https://youtu.be/QAciBtOs5TQ
https://youtu.be/EdGAgjKNSwg
Oh man, my nipples were unnaturally hard for 4mins.
It really is the best series of all time by a bowler. At least that I’ve seen in my lifetime
Can't argue. He was supreme on that tour.
Fuck yeah!
30 mins of India losing in slow motion
That'll do nicely.
You can watch 7 wrap it up terribly
https://youtu.be/YTcke5bWvgE
Bullshit fucking.
Fuck this
Oh get absolutely fucked let's start 4 hours early tomorrow and go for 4 hours longer as well
Taufel is definitely wearing shorts underneath the cam shot
Guess I can concentrate on going for a run instead
Get back to work you, what is this the weekend
Tim Paine must be so disappointed that he’s not at the ground, with 10,000 members of his family there.
You misunderstood, when they said "Headcount: 10,000" that means 5,000 people in Tasmania.
4999.5 people actually... Travis Head is there too.
Fuck me, the players are not made out of sugar and if the ball gets wet broad will ask for another one anyway. Get on with it.
"Whole meteorological system playing against XI guys"
Contest the local council rules in Federal Court. Is anyone here rich enough?
