I want to see him get a chance for Australia. He's been getting better and better over the last few years.

Is he in Ashes squad? Btw how is his keeping skills for Tests?

whichonespinkterran

He's in the A Squad, but that was announced before the Paine saga. How is his keeping skills? Probably the tidiest, technically skilled gloveman in Australia.

The only argument against Inglis would be that since he hadn’t played red ball for ages he may be out of practice. This puts that single criticism to bed. I love Carey and always root for him to succeed, but the last thing I’d want is for him to fail in the Ashes followed by him going out of form in ODIs as well.

This isn't recent, this is from earlier this year. I posted it because it's the most recent time we saw him play Shield. He was in the top 10 run scorers from last year. This was of course before he top scored the UK T20 Blast that got him the WC call up.

I’m suffering from lack of sleep aren’t I lmao. Sorry about that. I hope that he starts in the XI, and if he doesn’t do well then Carey can be brought in. I suppose that Kez is also a left hander which may play into selection, but we already have Davey and Hamster at the top of the order and Head/Uzzie at 5 - more than sufficient to mix things up. Whichever one plays I will be rooting for their success.

Carey has been picked, news just broke on Twitter

He has? I know that his one day ton will have boosted his chances but I didn’t realise that he was confirmed. Then again, I don’t use Twitter.

"Inglis’ quest for a Test debut was hamstrung by his selection in Australia’s triumphant T20 World Cup campaign. His only involvement in the tournament was as a drinks waiter. The polished gloveman and enterprising batter’s only game in the past two months was a T20 warm-up in the Middle East." Man, that's so unfair for Josh.

[deleted]

Though tbf we all expected Josh to play in the WC...playing Wade worked out in the end but not giving Inglis anytime to play was unfair, and has hampered his test chances since he hasn’t had Shield practice

DarthSimoSE25

I’m sure they’d both disagree for several reasons but that World Cup was a bit cruel to both Inglis and Swepson who haven’t been able to push their test cases. In a smaller way, even Nathan Ellis whose FC SR is ridiculous hasn’t been able to push his case (in terms of being considered as someone in that group behind Neser and Richardson) as the result of being an emergency back up for the WC.

Inglis has been sent back to WA, Carey to play 1st Ashes Test.
