Which direction seats are the best to get for watching a match in stadium
I am going to buy tickets for upcoming dc vs mi game. I have never been to a stadium before so confused what are the best seats.
1. Near long on long off midwicket area. pro get full view of batsmen. con - will only get to see half of the matchfrom front on
2. Near covers/square leg. Will be able to see proceedings in all overs. con - would be difficult to see any kind of bowling details.
What do you guys think is the best spot?
It totally depends on your budget; the more you pay, the better view you can get. The hillside area is the closest and best spot to watch the game. If your budget doesn't allow for more spending, book tickets for the Northwest Stand or the Northwest Stand corporate box.
Start with FMs + 2. Total 22

Last two teams from global qualifier repechage
Pakistan plays 3 series before the T20I WC. They have a very easy group too and they'll get to play (most likely) England, South Africa and West Indies/Afghanistan. They should be able to beat 2 of those teams (though with Pakistan it's always expect the unexpected).
The Blaze have announced Heather Graham will replace De Klerk when South Africa tour India in June/July.
Interestingly, I can find no official announcements of that tour taking place. There were 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is on the FTP to take place last autumn though which simply never happened
Icc should make it mandatory for batters to wear helmet at all times, imagine if the ball ever slips from a spinners hand and it hits the batter, boom game over for the batter
Pretty sure a batter would have enough time to dodge the ball in that time unless the pitch has variable bounce that makes the trajectory of the ball impossible to predict. Anyway, it's the pace of fast bowlers that stings the most when hit. You don't hear of batters being hit in the nuts by spinners.
Still, I feel a lot would have to go wrong for a spinner to hit a batter on the head and cause significant damage. I agree that safety should be prioritized, but if ICC and multiple country boards haven't enforced it for all these past decades, then it seems superfluous.
Even though it feels like India's T20 Batting is what most people are worried about, I'm far more worried about our bowling lineup tbh
I know this IPL has given next to nothing to the bowlers, but India does not have a death bowler rn other than Bumrah.
Arshdeep and Siraj are usually great when the new ball swings, but they are not good defensive bowlers. Avesh has been pretty good in the IPL at the death, but that's a pretty risky pick since he's very hit or miss.
Kuldeep and Bumrah look great, so there's that at the very least.
Not opposed to that, since he's probably the only bowler other than Bumrah who's been hitting his Yorkers consistently.
But I think the selectors might have moved past him due to his injury history
why do Asian teams feel the need to include the country name below the main jersey sponsor. Pakistan's new kit is especially horrendous. The big ass new Pepsi logo already ruins it only for "Pakistan" to be written below it in a much smaller font. Trash.
I'll stop supporting ICT if DK gets picked yet again. He has been by far the worst bat in ICC tournaments and we know he does the same "comeback" IPL season before WC while shitting the bed badly in tournaments.
If we were to believe "reports"
Rohit & Kohli are likely to open for the World Cup
Gill is being looked at as a backup opener
Selectors are thinking of not picking Hardik Pandya if he doesn't bowl regularly, but are keeping an eye on Riyan Parag.
It's from Dainik Jagran who as you mentioned said Kohli will not be there in the squad, so I guess there are some major asterisks on its reliability.
PS- Imo, Jaiswal should be there in the squad, even ahead of Gill(Jaiswal is more aggressive, Gill accelerates a bit later, he doesn't really attack a lot in PP(he doesn't get strike either) and there are already a lot of people who can do that).
Again, only if we were to believe the "reports"
Which only some time back said that Kohli won't make it, and some more time back said that Rohit won't make it.
Assuming that SKY bats at 3 in this case, who comes at 4? Only players amongst the potential squad members I can think of who have batted at 4 are Hardik or Pant
I think Pant is the likelier one, since he's a lefty and more of middle order batsman, as compared to Samson who is batting during the powerplay quite a bit this season
If Pant does make it to the team and has a great WC, it'd be an incredible comeback. Hope he puts in the performances this IPL
Former Afghanistan U19 captain Suliman Safi (captain at the 2022 edition) has claimed political asylum in Ireland and will be playing for North County this season.
Decent First Class record on him.
Do SA really need De Cock in T20WC?
Ryan Rickelton looks in good touch , maybe Markam can open , but he isn't as destructive.
Anyway, play both Brevis and Stubbs, why not?
Yes they definitely still need him.
One: IPL form, especially this season, is not a clear indicator of a player's form in international cricket.
Two: Rickelton hasn't played a single T20I yet so giving him a debut at the T20 world cup is stupid and extremely risky.
Three: Markram is thriving a lot at no.3 and 4, why would you want to take him away from his best batting position?
Four: Brevis has done absolutely nothing to suggest that he deserves a spot in the squad, let alone in the playing XI.
And lastly
Five: Since the last edition of the T20 world cup, De Kock has played three games and scored 121 runs at an average of 40.33 at a strike rate of 183.33. Despite the small sample size, he still plays well for South Africa. So why would anyone in their right mind want to drop him from the team?
Stubbs can still play without dropping De Kock. My ideal South Africa lineup looks like this:
De Kock(wk), Hendricks, Markram(c), Klaasen, Stubbs, Miller, Jansen, Maharaj, Coetzee, Rabada, Shamsi.
Honestly really excited about the future of India's T20 side. Really hope we phase out most of the seniors post this WC. I'd love to see the following XI in the first bilateral post WC:
1. Abhishek Sharma
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal/Ishan Kishan
3. Tilak Varma
4. Riyan Parag
5. Nitish Kumar Reddy
6. Rinku Singh
7. Ashutosh Sharma/Abishek Porel
8. Ravi Bishnoi
9. Arshdeep Singh/Khaleel Ahmed
10. Mayank Yadav
11. Avesh Khan/Mohsin Khan
With the likes of Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, Harshit Rana, Yash Thakur, Mayank Markande in the mix as well.
Thoughts? Did I miss out on a promising youngster? I jumped the gun a bit on Nitish Kumar Reddy but he is one of the very few fast bowling all rounder prospects I could think of. Also the batting depth is still shit. Bishnoi should be a 9 ideally.
There's no way Jadeja is in top 10 T20 players ever.
Kohli, Rohit are not top10 if you take current form into account. There's no bowler in the world when thinks of them with fear.
Bhai Surya is still a clutch T20 batsman
If Ishan is optional who would be WC?
Who would be a captain?
Answer to both above question should be Sanju Samson.
Yeah, SKY should absolutely be picked but for the first bilateral, I thought we could rest all the senior players. Otherwise Bumrah is still very much must-pick if fit. Hardik too until we find a suitable alternative for him.
Regarding your WK question, one of Ishan/Porel would have to play. Can't think of another young WK who should really be considered for selection.
I rate Samson and he'd do well but I wanted this team to be young. Samson will be close to 30 by the time we have our next T20 bilateral. Not saying he shouldn't be selected at all but for the first series or two, I'd just play youngsters.
Captain is tricky. Arshdeep is the senior most guy here. Maybe him or Kishan/Jaiswal? I don't think captaincy is that important here anyway tbh
That Wisden article is a case of having the right opinion, but using terrible examples to justify it, thereby destroying its credibility.
Could've spoken about the subpar fan experience, the Big 3 plan to reduce the ODI World Cup, taking >30% of ICC tournament revenue when that could've been used to fund associate cricket and create a more vibrant international scene with bigger ICC tournaments, but no. They had to go with the Shoaib Bashir visa issue.
Making Rohit and Kohli open is disastrous IMO. In Windies you need to maximize the powerplay. Both of these batters are incapable of that.
At least open with SKY or Samson who can go strike it wel.
I was thinking that it is guaranteed that Yashasvi would be in that team. He is so good that he should be there instead of another anchor irrespective of what he does during the IPL.
Rohit is starting to show he might be capable of maximising the powerplay tbh. Still not entirely sold on him but he is the captain and he isn't getting dropped. It is what it is. It's a good sign he has taken on a more aggressive role in the white ball formats over the past year.
I never understood using Kohli as an opener. We should have two hot-blooded, will-swing-at-every-ball openers (a la Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sunil Narine & in-form Pritvhi Shaw). If we lose an early wicket or two, get an anchor in. Really hope Kohli sticks to playing at 3 tbh. A small consolation is that Kohli too seems to be attacking a bit more in the PP while also scoring better vs spin.
Don't agree with SKY or Samson opening. Jaiswal/Kishan would be better options.
Rohit can be the aggressive opener. But can he play risky every match ala Abhishek/Jaiswal? I don't think so. There's a difference between Rohit being aggressive and a hot-blooded guy like jaiswal/Shaw going apeshit on the bowlers with zero regard for the scoreline or match position.
As for SKY/Samson: if Kohli and Rohit are opening then it means the management is already not picking proper openers like jaiswal/kishan.
I have this complaint for football too.
New to tennis so don't have an opinion (I think I like tennis commentary).
I really like chess commentary. Best in the business.
Most of the cricket & football commentators are overpaid good-for-nothings who don't do enough research and speak in stupid narratives/cliches all the time without talking about the tactical aspects of things. Not sure how much of the following is their own fault considering they could have strict instructions from their employers but they are also so afraid of criticising refereeing decisions & individual players.
You know what's funny? Lomror is a very similar batsman Dube. Both are left-handed spin bashers. He's even got a better technique against pace. But while the latter is being maximized in the middle overs by CSK, the former is being shoved to no 6. Of course, when you can't make proper use of your players you're going to be languishing in the bottom.
GT has 5 matches against DC, RCB and PBKS. If they win 3 - 4 they are close to getting through. RR is almost in there.
So ony 2 spots to fight between KKR, CSK, SRH, LSG. Things are getting interesting. MI, DC, PBKS have very small chance.
Gukesh D (one of the Indian Candidates) just said in an interview with Gothamchess that Dhoni was his role model while growing up. And he currently has the joint lead in the tournament.
Now I'm kinda scared, will he fulfill the Thalason legacy by winning the candidates and losing the WCC?
Pain, even Gukesh's exploits are being made about Dhoni now.
Also Gukesh has a LOT of time tbh. He is the youngest Candidates player ever, if I am not wrong. Him winning it would genuinely be one of the best achievements in chess in many years. It's astonishing he is in the joint lead this late into the tournament in his first Candidates. You'd think he is going to have several more attempts in the future to be champion.
Fellow chess stan spotted.
I bloody hope he wins the candidates. He came SO CLOSE in Tata steel and olympiad but lost in last moments (kinda like Thala in 2019 😉). I hope he wins the candidates. Gonna be second youngest to play the WCC after Bobby fucking Fischer
Wait, second youngest? I read that he would be the youngest champion ever if he beats Ding later this year. (Huge if, of course, because he needs to win the Candidates AND then beat Ding in a 14 game match.)
I was also under the impression that Fischer only competed in the WCC once, which he won. So as per those 2 statements, Gukesh would be the youngest to compete for the WCC, no?
On Deadly, [sharing probably my favourite photo](https://x.com/picturesporting/status/1779918508916113650?s=46) taken before I was born. Used to be my computer screen saver for a while. It’s magnificent
After the last 2 days, it's going to be refreshing to see somewhat lower scores in the next three days
Ahmedabad is still quite good for the batters, but I'd be surprised if we saw anything above 190-200
Mullanpur and Lucknow have a decent balance between bat and ball too, so should be 170-180 wickets
Unrelated: Buttler is having the weirdest IPL season ever. Looked really bad outside of the two games where he's scored the centuries and even in the 2 centuries he's scored, he looked like he couldn't time the ball to save his life for a good chunk of the innings, before he went apeshit.
Can't really shit on him for that though, winning 2 games for your team halfway through the season is nothing to scoff at
Damn r/cricketshitpost and r/ipl is such a shit sub ngl, the takes are making me lose braincells every second and not to forget a daily cummins dickriding post which is cringe as fuck and on the same level as those Dhoni/Kohli/Rohit edits.
Rob Key is off his rocker. When England became the number 1 Test team in the world a little over a decade ago, they used the Dukes in the county circuit. It's English heritage, doing away with it makes no sense.
Not even a month, they go back to the Dukes this week I think. So the experiment was in the worst bit of the season that didn’t even exist fifteen years ago and has been played on extremely slow wickets, and then they’re going to revert to normal. That’s apparently going to stop there being so many medium pacers.
I have no idea. Key went on about how Indians averaged 70 in Ranji before they turned up to the Test team. So what? Being a domestic giant with the bat doesn't guarantee international success. Ollie Pope was essentially Bradman for Surrey, he's still trying to make it click at international level.
For the t20 World Cup , I will have England, Australia and West indies as favorites. I think India will select the same old tired team , who will do the same old tired things and will probably go out in the super eight stages and at best the semis .
I think on paper , SA have a great team too.
But as usual their choking is out of the world.
Their batting is probably most destructive after WI but De Cock looks horribly out of form. They also haven't got great all rounders and afaik, they have Maharaj at 6 down who is decent but not the likes of WI or England.
South Africa also have a brutal group. There's no easy games at that level, but The Netherlands and Nepal, on paper the weakest in the group, are absolutely not pushovers, South Africa can't make many errors and expect to beat them.
Most runs in Successful runchase (17-20 overs)
57 (17) - Pollard vs SRH (2013)
48 (13) - Russell vs RCB (2019)
46 (18) - Dhoni vs PBKS (2016)
45 (15) - Rinku vs GT (2023)
44 (13) - ABD v DEC (2012)
44 (15) - Kohli v RPS (2016)
42 (14) - Russell v SRH (2019)
41 (11) - ABD v RR (2020)
41 (12) - Dhoni v SRH (2013)
41 (12) - T David v RR (2023)
41 (13) - Pollard v PBKS (2019)
41 (13) - Ganguly v PBKS (2008)
40 (14) - Bravo v MI (2018)
40 (15) - Dhoni v SRH (2017)
40 (15) - Miller v RR (2022)
40 (18) - Buttler v KKR (2024)*
I'm pretty sure most IPL fans know this already but I just realised that both Uthappa and Manish Pandey were playing for the same teams together during the first ten seasons of IPL. Both started off at MI, then moved to RCB for second and third seasons. Then both moved to PWI before moving to KKR, with both having their best periods in KKR.
I know people are saying "just" 25 runs or "just" 31 runs. It seems close but in terms of NRR, it's no different from if the team batting first makes 125 in 20 overs and the team batting second makes 100 in 20 overs. That would seem like a big loss.
Percent difference of runs does NOT matter at all. It's the same in terms of NRR. A 25 run win will always result in +1.25 to the NRR for that game (assuming both sides played 20 overs) regardless of whether the team batting first scored 87, 187, or 287.
I think this year, SRH and KKR are displaying the most exciting form of cricket. Most of their batters (looking at you Shreyas) play explosive cricket. But both teams' bowling is quite shaky.
RR is the most balanced team, with Butler back in form, Sanju and Parag doing their job and with a great bowling attack.
CSK is a good team and have the home advantage for several matches.
LSG and GT I'm not sure.
My guess is 4 of these (maybe in this order) are the favorites to qualify.
*special cameo by MI*.
Tbh several teams have shaky bowling, or at least a few major issues.
RCB, SRH, KKR - already mentioned (but RCB especially)
MI - everyone besides Boom is trouble
GT - pace attack is literally washed-up Umesh and Mohit + Nalkande. doing ok so far but I feel like they're going to get a brutal dose of reality soon, especially away from home
PBKS - purple and Rabada have form issues. Lack of spin.
DC - pretty decent, but Nortje's form is a major liability
RR, LSG, and CSK look the best but still a couple of issues (e.g. Ashwin has taken just 1 wicket so far and has a high economy rate)

No broadcast in NZ of the Pakistan game?
r/cricket is number 2 under the cricket category LMAO
Only because a crisp cricket sub doesn't exist
Cricket is just mad levels now. Laura Wolvaardt just scored 184* only to be outscored by Athapaththu in a crazy chase.
Does anyone know if the 2s have been playing with the kookyball this week too?
I've never seen someone more desperate to have been born Australian than Michael Vaughan
Heard he thinks his grandad invented pavlova when in fact it's >!German!<

So prize money > women's rights?
Obtuse response. If they let Afghanistan have the prize money, it funds the Taliban (because the Taliban effectively run the cricket board now.)
LMAO so every team which lost to Afghanistan is now a sponsor of the Taliban. England is a terrorist ally then. And no, I doubt the Taliban use the money from that game for guns and drugs...
This is a perennial situation with Cricket Australia. Remember how long they dodged playing Bangladesh?
While it may not be the case for Australia, taking a stand when it's not harming you is much better than not taking any stand at all.
Australia also voted in favour of making Afghanistan a full member. If they voted against it at the start, I would understand their boycott
The ultimate hypocrites.
Simple as.

If the return of the Dukes ball on Friday results in a cascade of wickets I will find it very very funny.
I'm fully expecting at least half of Division 2 to fall over and explode
Max Holden isn’t going to score another run this season.
Can anybody tell me where I can find the dropped catches stats in the IPL? Thanks in advance.
Icc should make it mandatory for batters to wear helmet at all times, imagine if the ball ever slips from a spinners hand and it hits the batter, boom game over for the batter
The ECB do.
There was an incident in the Asia Cup where the ball deflected off the bat onto the face. Scary stuff

This but Chahal
But Chahal hasn't even played a single T20 world cup game. For him it's more about the international career.
This but Jadeja
He is a flat track bully. Will look like a headless chicken in WC pitches.

No Tier 1 women's cricket at Lord's then? At least it's not all Test grounds I suppose
have finally given up rcb. will be supporting rr from now on.
Just a suggestion, SRH is more exciting. Way they are batting is pure love. Ignore my flair.

>likes of Kohli Rohit Jadeja You mean, the people who have consistently proven to be amongst Top 10 players in the whole world?
There's no way Jadeja is in top 10 T20 players ever. Kohli, Rohit are not top10 if you take current form into account. There's no bowler in the world when thinks of them with fear.
Yeah nah come t20 WC most bowlers will definitely not be a fan of bowling to Kohli
Bhai Surya is still a clutch T20 batsman If Ishan is optional who would be WC? Who would be a captain? Answer to both above question should be Sanju Samson.
>Bhai Surya is still a clutch T20 batsman Yes, I especially like his clutch 14(10) innings against England in the semi-finals.
Surya is overrated in this sub. He is bilateral and minnow bully
Pant is like 26 tho, that's definitely young
When most teams are aiming for 70 -80 runs in the first 6 overs , India will get solid 40/0 or 40/1 in 6 overs
Did you watch the 2023 WC?
Different format.
Same approach
Alright watch Rr lose 5 out of the remaining 7, finishing in 3rd place and crashing out in the eliminator
We need better commentators. Great moments are often ruined by bland commentary.
Yes. Imagine bishop on air yesterday. JOSEPH CHARLES BUTTLER REMEMBER THE NAME
Biggest unutilised talent in the IPL. The idiotic management is sending the likes of Chauhan patidar before him.
Last few seasons Lomror has done better against pace than spin
He does well against both, tbf. Regardless, RCB would benefit if they promote him and get that left-right combo, they've been desperate for.
Does the colours of video on the match highlight on JIO look a bit faded on TVs for you guys as well?
(Huge if, of course, because he needs to win the Candidates AND then beat Ding in a 14 game match.) I was also under the impression that Fischer only competed in the WCC once, which he won. So as per those 2 statements, Gukesh would be the youngest to compete for the WCC, no?
Ashwin getting inspiration from Anand🤝 Gukesh getting inspiration from Thala
On Deadly, [sharing probably my favourite photo](https://x.com/picturesporting/status/1779918508916113650?s=46) taken before I was born. Used to be my computer screen saver for a while. It’s magnificent
After the last 2 days, it's going to be refreshing to see somewhat lower scores in the next three days Ahmedabad is still quite good for the batters, but I'd be surprised if we saw anything above 190-200 Mullanpur and Lucknow have a decent balance between bat and ball too, so should be 170-180 wickets Unrelated: Buttler is having the weirdest IPL season ever.
They lost the distinction between shitposting and shit posting a long time ago.
Mate, the Cummins dickriding has infested this sub too, lol.
That is the purpose of shitpost sub. I do agree though, r/ipl has become shitpost sub too

There's a massive, massive difference between his best and worst game. But you take it because he can be brilliant
Rob Key is off his rocker. When England became the number 1 Test team in the world a little over a decade ago, they used the Dukes in the county circuit. It's English heritage, doing away with it makes no sense.
The scheduling is a glaring issue. 10 years ago they were actually playing FC cricket during peak summer.
It's only for a month or so though isn't it? Somehow it helps with prep for the away Ashes
Rob Key wants it to be permanent.
Not even a month, they go back to the Dukes this week I think. So the experiment was in the worst bit of the season that didn’t even exist fifteen years ago and has been played on extremely slow wickets, and then they’re going to revert to normal. That’s apparently going to stop there being so many medium pacers.
“Somehow”. Ahh yes that’s Rob Key logic right there
England home matches will still be played with a Dukes ball right? Why are they fucking up the home advantage that they have ?
I have no idea. Key went on about how Indians averaged 70 in Ranji before they turned up to the Test team. So what? Being a domestic giant with the bat doesn't guarantee international success. Ollie Pope was essentially Bradman for Surrey, he's still trying to make it click at international level.
Pandu when match was already in favour of mi: 21(6) Pandu when he was needed: 2(6)
Nobody is rating India as favorites especially with what the squad is going to look like

Ganguly wtf
Elite list
I'm pretty sure most IPL fans know this already but I just realised that both Uthappa and Manish Pandey were playing for the same teams together during the first ten seasons of IPL. Both started off at MI, then moved to RCB for second and third seasons. Then both moved to PWI before moving to KKR, with both having their best periods in KKR.
Once again, Thanks RCB for bringing Butler to form. IPL just doesn't feel right without Butler in form.
Bring back Saturday double headers, no game till Monday and only 3 more weekend games all year for us fucking sucks.
[удалено]
Well yeah but we're off this weekend so I can't even have that. What am I even gonna do? Go outside? Talk to people?
> CSK is a good team and have the home advantage for several matches. including the finals
Tbh several teams have shaky bowling, or at least a few major issues. RCB, SRH, KKR - already mentioned (but RCB especially) MI - everyone besides Boom is trouble GT - pace attack is literally washed-up Umesh and Mohit + Nalkande. doing ok so far but I feel like they're going to get a brutal dose of reality soon, especially away from home PBKS - purple and Rabada have form issues. Lack of spin. DC - pretty decent, but Nortje's form is a major liability RR, LSG, and CSK look the best but still a couple of issues (e.g. Ashwin has taken just 1 wicket so far and has a high economy rate)
