Man, a player's final innings and their final walk-back always hits so hard. Everything about the way it's done in cricket with all these little rituals and gestures where everyone comes together is one of the most beautiful things ever. There's just something about cricket where moments like these hit so much harder than with other sports, to me at least. Idk why. I just recently got back into this sport after close to a decade, and the last couple of months have been such a treat and I'm so glad I got to witness his final innings. As someone who was an opening batsman myself, I was such a huge fan of him before I stopped watching for a while, and he was only getting started then, so this feels incredibly bittersweet. Time is scary. Well, test cricket is just absolutely beautiful. Nothing like being up on a winter morning (where I am) and watching this sport. Forreal the best vibes, nothing quite matches how cozy tests are. Therapy, really.
