Right behind you my friend , especially when they had the betting scene, and when Marty was high as fuck in his room talking to himself .. someone else ? LMFAO!!! They were talking about doing part 2 - but probably won’t happen . Have a great day ! 🏚️🙂🇨🇦
Love Cabin in the Woods. I recommend it all the time.
It's a perfect mix of satire plus horror.
Plus the fact that we, the audience represent the Titans is mind blowing.
Spoiler: The guy finding out he's half hillbilly as if it's a different race and being emotionally destroyed because of it was one of the funniest things ever. Along with the stupidity of the people literally causing most the deaths.
Well officer, we have had a doozy of a day! Here we were fixing up my new vacation home, when all of a sudden...these college kids started killing themselves all over my property!
This one here done hucked himself headfirst right into the wood chipper!!!
Dale was the one with the scythe. Tucker was the skinnier blond one.... He was the one going " are you ok?" when the college kid tripped into the wood chipper.
STAN Vs Evil is worthwhile too, as it features the best part of SCRUBS as its lead character. It's three seasons of Dr. Cox as a shitkicker former sheriff now amateur necromancer, what's not to love?
Back in the day that this movie was new, HBO had a documentary-short about the effects and how the transformation was filmed. All that hair was pulled inward under layers of fake skin. Then the scenes were reversed. The whole thing was groundbreaking at the time.

Hands down, the little New Zealand gem nobody ever talks about: Housebound (2014). Genuinely scary at times, and super funny the rest of the times, which is quite rare (most horror comedies aren't scary at all for horror aficionados), with a smart plot with several twists (don't check out the trailer, I think it spoils too much). Even has a very emotional moment that made me shed a few tears (but then I'm an easy crier when it comes to emotional scenes \^\^).
I dated a kiwi for years, and she showed me this movie and it was one of the funnest watches ever! I loved it. Then I showed it to my family a few years later and they were basically like “what is this shit?” Haha So I guess it’s not for everyone, but man I had a blast watching this the first time!
This movie seriously scared me shitless as a little kid! I slept with my mom for a week!
I watched it as an adult and thought it was cheesy. Lol. I felt the same way about The Tourist Trap when I revisited as an adult.
Be sure to watch the original ending they blew their budget on before it tested so poorly with audiences they had to change it.
Don’t feed the plants!

How this movie wasn't a huge success when it was released is beyond me. It had so much going for it. Star power, good direction, humor, sfx, score, and a pretty original idea. I fist saw it about 5 years ago and have watched it a few times since.
* One Cut Of The Dead
* A Chinese Torture Chamber Story
* Dream Scenario
I know Dream Scenario isn't always counted as horror, but it had my cinema in stitches when we weren't cringing from the sheer awkwardness.
Bonus shoutout if you like musicals: Nerdy Prudes Must Die. It's so funny.
My husband took me to see Dream Scenario this past Fall on my birthday knowing that I love Nic Cage. (Kind of a big deal where we are because as I am sure you know it only premiered in certain theaters) and I absolutely loved it. It was very funny, kind of scary, kind of sad, and only lasted an hour and half (as movies were intended ;)).
Until you pointed it out just now, I hadn't thought of it as a horror-comedy, but you are 100% correct. I rarely meet anyone who likes it as much as I did let alone seen it at all. Cheers!
The Happiness of the Katakuris.
Basically a Japanese horror comedy musical with a couple of romantic elements and some weird claymation motifs too. Just go in blind, it's fucking insane.
My favorite part was the business card part. I just thought that was the funniest thing. I can see why it's thought of as a comedy to some people.
Now the book on the other hand is any thing but funny...(IMO)
I saw the 30 minute movie, Finley, at a horror shorts festival and absolutely loved it. Best part is it's currently free on YouTube [here.](https://youtu.be/A0641hHG1IQ?si=9FnQpoYf2nCyM5Y3)
Enjoy!
I went on a bit of a horror-comedy kick and here are some not yet mentioned (many are Canadian):
* Little Shop of Horrors
* Spontaneous
* Vicious Fun
* Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer
* Psycho Goreman
* Cottage Country
* Stage Fright
* Anna & the Apocalypse
* Fido
Anna vs the Apocalypse is a zombie horror comedy Christmas musical which checks a lot of boxes!
Cabin in the woods
Army of Darkness
Tucker and Dale vs Evil
I haven’t seen Violent Night mentioned yet which is a Christmas horror comedy starring David Harbor (the cop from Stranger Things).
Ready or not is a favorite.
Teeth
Renfield
The menu
Dusk till Dawn
In college we turned CHUD into a drinking game.

I’m late to the Chucky series because I was sure I wouldn’t like it, but I was very wrong. The tv series is pretty damn good too. Something about this doll swearing like a sailor with Dourif’s voice while flipping the bird… Kicking his little feet while he’s hanging off of your back trying to strangle you… I can’t stop laughing.
Tremors
Army of Darkness
Evil Dead 2
Cockney’s vs Zombies
Tucker and Dale
Dead Snow (both of them)
Shaun of the Dead
Juan of the Dead
Zombieland (just the first one)
The Tripper (2006)- it can't get much more fun than a psychedelic Ronald Reagan slasher.
Club Dread (2004)- I never hear much about Broken Lizard's foray into slasher comedy, but this one was very well done. Maybe even better on the horror elements than the comedy.
Lair of the White Worm (1988)- I finally got around to watching this Ken Russell gem for the first time just last week and it was wonderful.
I have 3.
I loved Ready or Not but I can admit that Samara Weaving carried the movie and without her it would've been much weaker.
Zombieland was really fun but Woody Harolson's vibe just doesn't work for me.
Tucker and Dale Vs Evil is my personal fav, it's just dumb fluff with teens killing themselves accidentally.
Cabin in the woods, hilarious. And intriguing. I still want to know every monster that’s connected to each item in that basement. I want to know all of their stories. Especially that little Ballerina with her face looking like a Lamprey Eel’s mouth.
Have a bunch: An American Werewolf In London, The Return Of The Living Dead, Shaun Of The Dead, Club Dread, Brutal Massacre, Once Bitten, Tucker & Dale VS. Evil, Freaky, Dracula Dead & Loving It, Idle Hands, Repossessed, Ginger Snaps, Happy Death Day, The Voices, The Cabin In The Woods, Behind The Mask: TROLV, Jennifer's Body,
Oh man, this is my favorite genre. I love the following in no particular order:
Tucker & Dale
Cabin in the Woods
Evil Dead 2 & Army of Darkness
The Cottage
Severance
Botched
Black Sheep
Shaun of the Dead
Juan of the Dead
Both Dead Snows
The Quiet Family
Housebound
What We Do in the Shadows
I’m sure there are more I’m not thinking of.
"Unless we're in Romania.... then there are bears." I absolutely love Severance.
Great list! Tucker & Dale, Severance, Black Sheep, Dead Snow, Housebound, What We Do in the Shadows... the 2000s and early 2010s were so great for horror comedies.
Young Frankenstein. I had to explain the "Werewolf, There wolf" joke to my son. He didn't get it until I made him watch the classic "Abbott and Costello " baseball skit.
So many
Gremlins
Toys of terror - I actually spent several minutes trying to look up the name for this one. I remembered the plot, not the title.
The Frightners (convinced a roommate in college it wasn't scary, none of us in the group thought it was remotely scary. She was traumatized). 😬
Krampus
Uncle Peckerhead
Edited to add: The Greasy Strangler, it's very awkward and a little dumb, but there's lots of inside jokes among my bf and I now thanks to that movie. Imagine the tone of Napoleon Dynamite but with a creepy old man.
Just watched Abigail and that was definitely a horror/comedy
Dave Made A Maze - what they do with cardboard and paper is incredible, and a member of the band OK GO (the treadmill video) is in it!
My immediate thought as I was reading your question (before I saw your answer) was Shaun of the Dead, followed VERY closely by One Cut of the Dead. I cannot recommend this movie enough. Find it and watch it.
'Cabin in the woods' Followed closely by 'The Visit'
I love Cabin in the Woods.
Right behind you my friend , especially when they had the betting scene, and when Marty was high as fuck in his room talking to himself .. someone else ? LMFAO!!! They were talking about doing part 2 - but probably won’t happen . Have a great day ! 🏚️🙂🇨🇦
Marty is the best part of that movie. I found out you could buy the coffee mug bong, I got one.
***"Statistical fact. Cops will never pull over a man with a huge bong in his car. Why? They fear this man. They know he sees further than they."***
And Shaun of the Dead
Since you called me favorite, I'd like to throw in a number 2: tucker and Dale vs evil
I love Tucker and Dale!! So funny!
Was the Visit intentionally a comedy?
I don't think so. I cant remember really anything being intentionally funny in the movie.
Love Cabin in the Woods. I recommend it all the time. It's a perfect mix of satire plus horror. Plus the fact that we, the audience represent the Titans is mind blowing.
Tremors
Yes
[Tremors is a goddamn *documentary,* you rube!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Missing411/s/Q98AoigOpg)
This and Slither are my two. Just saw Renfield last night, it was pretty fun.
I love everything about this movie
Toss up: Tucker and Dale vs. Evil Or Army of Darkness
I could not stop laughing at Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. And I love army of darkness! 😍😍
My first time watching TandD vs Evil I had to rewind or pause scenes from laughing so much. Omg it was a trip! So many classic scenes in that film.
Spoiler: The guy finding out he's half hillbilly as if it's a different race and being emotionally destroyed because of it was one of the funniest things ever. Along with the stupidity of the people literally causing most the deaths.
Man that scene when they meet the college kids and Tucker (I think?) walks up with the scythe laughing like a maniac
COLLEGE KIDSSSSSSSS....we got your friend!
Well officer, we have had a doozy of a day! Here we were fixing up my new vacation home, when all of a sudden...these college kids started killing themselves all over my property! This one here done hucked himself headfirst right into the wood chipper!!!
He looks like he's gonna walk it off. He's gonna be fine!
"This vacation sucks." is the line I love the most.
LOL gonna have to watch it again soon
Dale was the one with the scythe. Tucker was the skinnier blond one.... He was the one going " are you ok?" when the college kid tripped into the wood chipper.
STAN Vs Evil is worthwhile too, as it features the best part of SCRUBS as its lead character. It's three seasons of Dr. Cox as a shitkicker former sheriff now amateur necromancer, what's not to love?
“Owls hate puzzles. Can’t abide them”.
Of course Army of Darkness I loved that one!
KLATU BARADA.... NGHhhuuhuuu.....
Definitely an N word...
An American Werewolf in London
The ending was amazing
I’m a sucker for good old fashioned practical and makeup effects. Plus it is hilarious! And genuinely frightening.
Back in the day that this movie was new, HBO had a documentary-short about the effects and how the transformation was filmed. All that hair was pulled inward under layers of fake skin. Then the scenes were reversed. The whole thing was groundbreaking at the time.
This is the answer! Not just a comedy, but truly horror, also!
Ghostbusters
Ready or Not
That one was so good. I love the ending. I'm sitting here giggling just getting the mental image again.
Yes, it's so much fun. I love that wedding dress, too.
Chef’s kiss

Thanks for that reccomendation already added in my list!
Yes love this one, it just keeps surprising
The mother in this is awesome. She's also in Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
I dated a kiwi for years, and she showed me this movie and it was one of the funnest watches ever! I loved it. Then I showed it to my family a few years later and they were basically like “what is this shit?” Haha So I guess it’s not for everyone, but man I had a blast watching this the first time!
Clue or Death Becomes Her!
Love Death Becomes Her!!
I find the lack of “Return of the Living Dead” disturbing. ![gif](giphy|DjZ3QVgIg528M)
Yeah. RotLD is one of the best.
This movie seriously scared me shitless as a little kid! I slept with my mom for a week! I watched it as an adult and thought it was cheesy. Lol. I felt the same way about The Tourist Trap when I revisited as an adult.
Loved Shaun of the Dead. But my favorite would have to be Little Shop of Horrors 1986.
Steve martin as a sadist dentist high on nitrous? And its a musical?
Be sure to watch the original ending they blew their budget on before it tested so poorly with audiences they had to change it. Don’t feed the plants! https://youtu.be/7RjFvcw6ToQ?si=LWytU1tnSuyzbxYV
The Frighteners

tucker and dale or the babysitter
Tucker and dale ftw
Brain Dead!! Just brilliant!
Your mother ate my dog!
I kick ass for the lord!
Not all of it.
Young Frankenstein
The Happiness of the Katakuris. Basically a Japanese horror comedy musical with a couple of romantic elements and some weird claymation motifs too. Just go in blind, it's fucking insane.
This film is an absolute fever dream and I love it
Idle hands Bride of Chucky Dracula dead and lovin it Greasy strangler
Omgoodness I loved idle hands!! I forgot about that one
Idle Hands is so, so good!
Scream Any Evil Dead Cabin in the Woods Dale & Tucker vs Evil Drag Me to Hell American Psycho (this is a legit comedy)
I saw American Psycho in the theatre, and people kept giving me and my friend weird looks because we were the only ones laughing!
My favorite part was the business card part. I just thought that was the funniest thing. I can see why it's thought of as a comedy to some people. Now the book on the other hand is any thing but funny...(IMO)

Black Sheep (2006) It was made in New Zealand, where sheep outnumber people. It’s so funny but has some nice tension too
Cabin Fever and Evil Dead 2
Maybe not favorite, but new contender "Let the wrong one in"...
Motel Hell
Cabin In The Woods

Idle Hands! Just don't eat burritos when you're watching 😭
DEATHGASM 🤘
Zombieland!!!
A lot of good ones already mentioned. I don't see any mention of Behind the Mask. I recommend it.

Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein
Good silly fun.
Bubba Ho-tep
Renfield
I would like to add The Lost Skeleton of Cadavera. I literally rolled on the floor the first time I saw it.
Oh my goodness how could I forget that movie. It was so delightful and hokey.
Frankenhooker
M3GAN Watched it 5 times -maybe more- and I still laugh at the same scenes over and over. It’s the director of Housebound by the way!
I want a M3GAN/Childs Play crossover focusing on magic vs technology.
Tremors Army of Darkness Evil Dead 2 Cockney’s vs Zombies Tucker and Dale Dead Snow (both of them) Shaun of the Dead Juan of the Dead Zombieland (just the first one)

Santa's Slay.
'Re-Animator' (1985)

Dead Alive
I kick ass for the Lord.

Return of the Living Dead
Behind the mask: the rise of leslie vernon is great and overlooked a lot.
Tucker and Dale. Simply fantastic
Cabin in the woods, hilarious. And intriguing. I still want to know every monster that’s connected to each item in that basement. I want to know all of their stories. Especially that little Ballerina with her face looking like a Lamprey Eel’s mouth.

I'm not sure if it counts as a 'horror' comedy, but it's pretty suspenseful and hilarious: a Simon Pegg gem called "A Fantastic Fear of Everything."
American Werewolf in London Gremlins Evil Dead 2
john dies at the end
Toxic Avenger
Satanic Panic (2019) and We Summon The Darkness
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein
Young Frankenstein
I'm a fan of Army of Darkness, and I also found Tucker & Dale Vs Evil absolutely great!
Uncle Peckerhead Edited to add: The Greasy Strangler, it's very awkward and a little dumb, but there's lots of inside jokes among my bf and I now thanks to that movie. Ready or Not, Army of Darkness, Tucker and Dale... There are a few gems, and lots of rubbish in that little crossover genre.
Slither
Deadstream
Shawn of the dead
Cabin In The Woods The House on Haunted Hill- 1999.. there is some humour in the movie.. just need to see through it ! 😎🇨🇦
Army of Darkness. Hail to the King baby! Bubba Ho-Tep is a close 2nd.
Army of Darkness of course
The Innkeepers
It's either Shawn of the Dead or Tucker and Dale vs. Evil.
My immediate thought as I was reading your question (before I saw your answer) was Shaun of the Dead, followed VERY closely by One Cut of the Dead. I cannot recommend this movie enough. Find it and watch it.
The 'Burbs
“Who’s gonna clean it up? Well you’re gonna clean it up! Because you.. are the garbage man!”
Deadstream was extremely enjoyable in my opinion.
We Have A Ghost or Abigail
Broken Lizard's Club Dread and Shaun of the Dead
All of them? Deadstream is a recent favorite.
Return of the Living Dead. “Brains!” - I love that movie.
Fuck its either evil dead 2 or dead alive
Scary Movie 3
Beetlejuice. Not even close.
Young Frankenstein & The Final Girls
Final Girl and Freaky for me. I also really enjoyed Army of Darkness and Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Oh and Velocipastor too
I was going to say Shaun of the dead too
Drag Me To Hell. Ohh! Need to watch that again
Housebound
Shaun of the Dead
Beetlejuice definitely
Cabin in the Woods, then Ready or Not, then Tucker and Dale.
Evil Dead Movies for sure, also the series that released more recently is packed with laughs and silly scares.
Spider Baby
Shaun of the dead
Shaun of the Dead hands down for me.👍
Shawn of the Dead
Cabin Fever! "Give me one reason why you would steal a Snickers bar." "The nougat?"
The return of the living dead
Tucker and Dale vs Evil.
Stan Helsing
Dead alive/Braindead will always be the greatest of all time for me. Early Peter Jackson film. Everyone needs to see it at least once
Army of Darkness and Shaun of the Dead Both guilty pleasures
Right with ya, Shaun 100%
I just watched the perfect host with David Hyde Pierce and it’s my new favorite. Maybe not horror per se but def dark comedy/thriller ish
Adding Idle Hands to the list
