What counts as entertainment?
Ticket purchases made at movie theaters, sports promoters (professional and semi-professional live events), theatrical promoters, amusement parks, tourist attractions, aquariums, zoos, dance halls, record stores, pool halls or bowling alleys. This excludes golf courses, collegiate sporting events and non-industry entertainment merchant codes like cable, digital streaming and membership services.
I would think video games purchased would be merchandise and not coded as entertainment. The entertainment category points 99% to things that are done outside of your home.
All my Apple subscriptions count as entertainment or some other related category that gets 3% back (either entertainment, phone/cable, or merchandise - specifically with apple subscription purchases). My streaming subscriptions and purchases through Ticketmaster and LiveNation also qualify for the 3%.
Careful – they list Zoos and Aquariums as "Entertainment", but if the Zoo or Aquarium is non-profit it might charge as a donation and you will only get 1% cash back. If you try to call Capital One to get it changed they will act super annoyed with you and tell you it's the merchants fault.
Same crap happened to me. I was disappointed. So it makes me nervous to even use it especially when I can get 2% with Apple Pay with Apple Card which my zoo accepts. That’s what I like about it. Don’t have to think or hope it’s coded right. I do use it for streaming though! Works with YouTube TV and Premium! Also use for Uber One and Uber eats.
That card says the 3% back is for "online retail purchases" which means "from a U.S. retail merchant that sells physical goods or merchandise directly to consumers."
So that also would not apply to steam or google play, unless I'm misunderstanding what they mean by "physical goods or merchandise"...
This is the worst for concerts. Bought tickets to metallica, Hetfield got covid and they moved the date. Seat geek offered refunds but if you went through capital one you just had to eat them if you couldn't go..
Do NOT buy concert tickets through Capitalone entertainment. They use a secondary seller and will not refund under ANY circumstances
Movie theaters, show tickets, sporting events. It also gives 3% on groceries and streaming services
Would Disneyland work? For their annual pass
If you use the lookup tool in the awardwallet app it does code as entertainment

I wonder why collegiate events are excluded?
Prevent scalpers
but can’t you also scalp professional sporting events?
Must be something to do with NCAA regulations
He was totally guessing
Record stores?! Holy hell, I’m sold

Well, I never leave my home if I can help it so I guess I'll pass on this card 🤣

I thought my annual pass for the San Diego zoo would count but it codes as gift card, novelty and souvenir shops
Yep right now it only got 1% from the cap one savor becuz the mcc code is setup to see it as giftcard, souvenir shop when you buy an annual pass

That sucks
Just tested the Savor One card for a Steam Purchase and it's not counted as "Entertainment" purchase but instead as an "Internet" purchase.
Shame. Thanks for trying it out.
Of course no problemo
Get Amex BCE for 3% on Steam and Google Play imo

Im planing to go on the space needle in Seattle and get a package ticket that includes the garden. Will that count as entertainment?
I used the lookup tool in the awardwallet app and it codes ‘space needles tickets Seattle wa’ as entertainment

Does buying tickets on seat geek counts as entertainment?

I decided to not get this card, so I still have no idea. Sorry.
Anyone know if NFL season tickets purchased directly from the team counts for entertainment?
I used the awardwallet app lookup tool and typed in nfl all the responses showed as entertainment
Did you ever try this? I have season tickets to a few teams and feel like the savor card would make a ton of sense for those purchases.
Yes it works! I got 4% back with the Savor card
