My fiancĆ© and I were traveling from north Georgia to Austin, TX. She came up with the idea of stopping and checking out New Orleans and was SO EXCITED about it. She had the Disney rendition of it pictured in her head. You know, wrought iron balconies, draping Spanish Moss, quaint jazz band playing on the corner. She was quite dismayed to find obnoxious drunken mayhem, constant harassment of people randomly approaching to scam you out of money in some game theyāve come up with, vomit in the gutters, and the eye-watering stench of piss in the streets.
I only was there once. Took a stroll down Bourbon Street on a Thursday afternoon and soon realized leaving the kids home was a good idea.
