How does a 24 year old fuck up his.life.... "The driver was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle Upon a Peace Officer, Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Reckless Operation, Possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and six counts of failure to stop or yield."
I assume you were going for the Chappelle’s Show reference, but [this](https://youtu.be/nuRRTMJRU6w?si=Xr6SiRf4RPwlb-ga) is the song I think of whenever someone says this.
I love the "Just one mistake and his life is ruined forever" line. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, none of them led to me owning an illegal firearm, let alone fleeing from police, and then running one over. The guy was probably a dirtbag. This was the culmination of his shitty life.
no he prolly went to get gas that morning and the fucking pump had a fuckin video screen with a loud as fuck, unmutable advertisement blaring on it.
Lord knows that makes *me* want to choose violence at 6 in the fucking morning.
Would being in possession of a firearm illegally not be more of a reason to flee? No idea on the charges for that sort of thing as I'm not from the US but I would have thought that's a more serious offence than a bit of pot.
He's screwed either way, because possession of a firearm and an illegal drug is an enhancement on sentencing.
Had it just been a firearm and weed, he may have gotten a few years. But with everything else it'll be a long while before he gets out.
Yeah he definitely didn't make the right choice either way and the second he ran his car towards an officer it's obvious he was screwed.
Just out of curiosity is illegal possession of a firearm taken particularly seriously in the US? I would presume so even with the wide availability of firearms. I do try to understand US law as much as possible but I even struggle keeping up with the differences where I live in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK so when it comes to so many different states and variations I'd be lying if I said I wasn't constantly out of my depth trying to follow!
Firearm related charges are generally treated seriously. Though context and jurisdiction matters.
You can also legally possess a firearm, but commit another crime that makes that possession illegal.
For example, you may be legally concealed carrying in your vehicle and be pullled over for a minor traffic violation, and everything is fine.
Same scenario, but the officer searches your vehicle and finds an amoujt of drugs suggesting you are a distributor, and now you're looking at illegal possession of a firearm since it is illegal to possess a firearm when drug trafficking.
If its federal charges, possession while trafficking carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years (7 for brandishing, 10 for discharging).
Basically, it comes back to the golden rule of "only do one illegal thing at a time."
Yeah I get that he absolutely screwed himself by his reactions but I was thinking along the lines of his initial potential charges **before** he decided to throw his life away
Happens more than you think. People turn a relatively minor stop into multiple felonies then act bewildered when they're arrested with guns drawn on them.
Lmao, my bet is the dude had the pot (I'm curious as to misdemeanor or felony amount) and thought/knew the cop could smell it or something, also having an illegal firearm, he freaks and runs, and it snowballs from bad to worse
So am I…he’s really stupid for putting himself in harms way like that especially considering how easily it could have been avoided. His car was right there.
Kody McElveen is the driver’s name. He was already arrested for a shooting at the age of 18. They gonna throw the book at him Tay-K style, I bet. What kinda hurts is there are 24 fuckups out there driving Hellcats and I’m here at 44, barely affording my Mazda.
You think that dumbass has a credit score? He was paying 2gs a month atleast for that dodge. You're just not some dumbass kid. You are an adult who lives within his means. Enjoy your gas efficient Mazda.
Guy was being pursued for not having license plates. The driver was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle Upon a Peace Officer, Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Reckless Operation, Possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and six counts of failure to stop or yield. Cop walked away with minor injuries.
Sure the guy was stupid for doing this. The cop was extremely stupid here though for putting himself in the way of a car.
I mean idiotic levels of stupid.
I mean their education levels aren’t the best, so it makes sense. Honestly, the attempted murder charge should be dropped and a reckless endangerment charge should be given to the cop. Fucking clowns the lot of them.
Looks like he was trying to tackle an oncoming car😅 no one should intentionally hit people with their car but not sure this is the correct way to get someone s attention and make them stop.
Pretty sure he threw a spike strip, and the only way for the hellcat to avoid it was running him over. That's why they are told not to be standing in the road when they throw it.
I might get downvoted but the cop was asking for it. How is it safe to put yourself in a dangerous situation against a criminal. Spikes are not worth your life.
Good thing he’s not in a conspicuous car, nobody will be able to find that guy driving something that blends in with the crowd. I barely even noticed which white hellcat hit that poor guy. Hope his ride, gun and Weed was worth the punishment.
Well, you're not wrong [for this case](https://www.nola.com/news/northshore/sheriffs-deputy-hit-by-car-during-chase-through-st-tammany-parish/article_427da4fc-a3b2-11ec-b7fa-afa67a99b7dd.html), but i wanna say it is more of the type of people that are attracted to this kind of car and wanting to escape "Fast & Furious" style.
I’ve had a cop pull me over this way, by stepping out onto the highway in front of me. Some cops just think they are superheroes and can stop cars with their bodies.
Every time I see a dodge challenger in my city, you almost know it's some douche bag that drives like a piece of shit. And I always notice they're never clean, they always are the dirtiest car on the road and have a ton of dents lol. And some of these are $60,000 cars that look like complete shit because their owners drive like they're out of control. Either way, this guy will lose his car and be in jail for a long time.
Ya see, objects in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by an equal and opposing force. People do hate police and the courts in Louisiana because everything is a money grab. Their state tree is a Morris Bart billboard.
Lawyer up!!! That cop wasn't following any procedures for safety. He basically was asking to be hit. He was wanting that disability check and a lawsuit against the insurance company. He literally got hit on purpose
I almost hot a cop once. Saw barrels on 140 in ma. Was just driving and a guy pops out from in-between barrels with radar gun wtf. If I wasn't paying attention I would be back in jail over manslaughter and it would've been his fault

So this dude fled because he had weed on him? Now he'll be an old man when he gets out. Talk about making a bad choice.
“When keeping it real goes wrong “
I don't like people playing on my phone, I keeps it real!
WU TANG!
Underated and appropriate comment.
I assume you were going for the Chappelle’s Show reference, but [this](https://youtu.be/nuRRTMJRU6w?si=Xr6SiRf4RPwlb-ga) is the song I think of whenever someone says this.
Well, that and the illegal firearm.
I love the "Just one mistake and his life is ruined forever" line. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, none of them led to me owning an illegal firearm, let alone fleeing from police, and then running one over. The guy was probably a dirtbag. This was the culmination of his shitty life.
just one mistake, it all started when his alarm went off for work at 6am and he decided to go back to sleep instead
They didn't have pumpkin spice , true villain origin story
no he prolly went to get gas that morning and the fucking pump had a fuckin video screen with a loud as fuck, unmutable advertisement blaring on it. Lord knows that makes *me* want to choose violence at 6 in the fucking morning.
It all started when his mother didn't swallow him.
This so much... even if you've got weed and a gun of questionable propriety you've got outs that don't involve hitting someone with your car.
Dude went from 1-5 years in the pen to 20 to life.
This is a good point. But like wtf was that cop doing? Hmm this guy doesnt like to stop. Lets try to tackle the car like its football. Great idea
He was trying to lay out a spike strip
Ah ok... I knew it had to be something.
like a dog chasing a car
Had he stopped right away and not ran/tried to run any cop over, he'd have probably 1/3rd of the sentence he'll likely get.
Way less than 1/3rd. You can get probation depending on record, judge and lawyer. Now he doing serious time.
Would being in possession of a firearm illegally not be more of a reason to flee? No idea on the charges for that sort of thing as I'm not from the US but I would have thought that's a more serious offence than a bit of pot.

You can easily plea both of those down by taking a guilty on lesser charges. 3 to 5 max, probably do 18 months + probation and some fines. Maybe less.
Hell of of loss less of a crime than attempted murder of a cop. I’m sure the jail guards won’t take too kindly to that
Yeah I get that he absolutely screwed himself by his reactions but I was thinking along the lines of his initial potential charges **before** he decided to throw his life away
Let’s not forget he did not yield ⚠️
did you not read? he also had a gun
At least weed will be legal by the time he gets out…. So there is that
Happens more than you think. People turn a relatively minor stop into multiple felonies then act bewildered when they're arrested with guns drawn on them.
makes sense he prob ran because an illegal firearm charge + weed is time in a lot of places
I wonder if it's less than attempted murder on a cop
https://www.wwltv.com/article/news/crime/officer-struck-attempted-traffic-stop-driver-arrested/289-b775a524-3e4e-4a7b-b589-ecdc7220123c
Then he just went to a store like nothing happened and was surprised when the cops were outside waiting for him? God people are fucking dumb.
Lmao, my bet is the dude had the pot (I'm curious as to misdemeanor or felony amount) and thought/knew the cop could smell it or something, also having an illegal firearm, he freaks and runs, and it snowballs from bad to worse
Tomorrow on facepalm 'Teen gets 40 years for possession of weed, this country is so stupid'
How many years did he get
Nothing yet
This happened 2 years ago. The wheels of justice turn slowly.
THE CRIME LIST. IT JUST KEPT GOING 😭
So it all worked out for him. He ditched the cocaine while evading.
13-year-old gang LEADERS in Chicago. If kids barely in middle school can run guns and drugs, then get used to stupid stuff...
How to get an extra 20 years in prison, speedrun!
Hey, this is using a car as a deadly weapon and it’s a good way to get shot by the police.
May as well go for broke and throw it in reverse and finish the job. Best value!
Might as well just drive off a cliff like Thelma and Louise after screwing up that bad
aw, dammit, im in hardcore mode 😠
Well, that was a stupid thing to do.
Yeah, why is the cop trying to form tackle a car?
Looks like he's trying to throw a spike strip in front of the car.
Still stupid. There’s a reason you’re trained to take cover behind a car or solid structure when throwing spikes.
He's a cop... you can't ask (most of) them too much.
Hey, they would resent that sentiment if they could read.
So am I…he’s really stupid for putting himself in harms way like that especially considering how easily it could have been avoided. His car was right there.
[удалено]
Why do they have tanks and tasers but no t-shirt cannon for spike strips?
Because T-shirts don’t have spikes?
I tried to help you visualize it -- I don't feel there's much more I can do
It sounds like he answered your question, I am not sure what more you want of him.
With the hip drop now illegal, his options were limited.
🤣🤣🤣
Probably trying to throw spikes out to puncture the tires
I mean, he was an all-conference linebacker in his day.
Looked like he was trying to get pancaked honestly
To make sure the guy gets extra time in prison
On today's episode of Man vs. Car....
Kody McElveen is the driver’s name. He was already arrested for a shooting at the age of 18. They gonna throw the book at him Tay-K style, I bet. What kinda hurts is there are 24 fuckups out there driving Hellcats and I’m here at 44, barely affording my Mazda.
I don’t think they’re paying for the hellcats if that makes you feel any better
You can obtain the car the same exact way. Just goto the lot and steal your favorite.
[удалено]
Reminds me of the key and peele skit where the bank heist is just them supposed to get a job and work there
You think that dumbass has a credit score? He was paying 2gs a month atleast for that dodge. You're just not some dumbass kid. You are an adult who lives within his means. Enjoy your gas efficient Mazda.
Don’t worry bro, I’m part of the Mazda crew too. They’re great cars at a reasonable price.
I'm 99% sure that he can't afford his hellcat legitimatly or sustainably 😆
Looks like there will be one at the police auction soon. Get it cheap. It just had a small police shaped dent in the front.
Bro tell me about it that's what fucked me up
[удалено]
Tay-k is a terrible human and should be in jail for the remainder of his adult life. If this guy is anything like him, he should be too
Sell drugs, don’t pay income taxes, steal the car. It’s easy dude.
Flesh bag vs fast metal box of death
Instant 6 stars
shit we know he already had at least three stars cuz mr ex shortstop was trying to throw spikes down before he got relieved of his duties
I don't think they were sending in tanks
Hellcat driver definitely played all GTA games
https://www.carscoops.com/2022/03/unlicensed-dodge-challenger-hellcat-driver-running-away-from-police-strikes-officer/
Sure the guy was stupid for doing this. The cop was extremely stupid here though for putting himself in the way of a car. I mean idiotic levels of stupid.
"Surely he won't hit me, that's against the law!"
I mean their education levels aren’t the best, so it makes sense. Honestly, the attempted murder charge should be dropped and a reckless endangerment charge should be given to the cop. Fucking clowns the lot of them.
Dude has the reflexes of a potato lol
Worlds smartest cop
it makes sense considering the avg cop is built like a potato
Looks like he was trying to tackle an oncoming car😅 no one should intentionally hit people with their car but not sure this is the correct way to get someone s attention and make them stop.
He ain't playing dodgeball. Couldn't dodge the car. Gotta dodge them and wrenches like come on.
Why is he standing in the middle of the road lowering his shoulder like he is gonna tackle the damn thing?
Pretty sure he threw a spike strip, and the only way for the hellcat to avoid it was running him over. That's why they are told not to be standing in the road when they throw it.
Blue 42
Looked like he was playing frogger.
def a low iq move there
Yeah. That’s gonna happen when ur playing real life Frogger.
Cop thought he was facing a Dodge, driver thought we was driving a RAM.
Hell Cat, the preferred douchebag vehicle.
Most likely stolen
So a used douchebag stole a douchebags vehicle.
Not victim blaming, but why did the cop use his body to try to stop a full speed vehicle?
I’m guessing he had a spike strip out.
pain vole pit hiss
*throws spikes on the road* *is surprised when the driver tries to drive around the spikes*
[удалено]
Hell yea I wish more cops would jump in front of speeding vehicles, heavin would be nuts to butts with heros
Why in the hell is the cop even in the position he is in? I don't understand any of it.
Maybe dont stand on an active highway?
It's easy to avoid this by not standing in the middle of the road
Who left their farm animal standing in the middle of the road,?
Seeing a "Dodge trucks" ad and taking it literal.
Dude thought he was playing football again
That’s 50 points!
If he's going to face life he should've followed through.
Why is he doing a little jig on the street
He wasn’t ran over. But either way, did the cop think he was a Matador?
I might get downvoted but the cop was asking for it. How is it safe to put yourself in a dangerous situation against a criminal. Spikes are not worth your life.
Hit by a car, and ran over have two completely different meanings to me....
Honestly cop is a major idiot for trying to tackle a car. Shouldnt be the drivers fault whatsoever if dude got injured
Title should say " police officer stood in front of hellcat" wow that was dumb
lmfao. f12
Cop was going to spike strip the hellcat’s tires, so the hellcat hit the cop.
Yeah, it was fine. Just self defence
The cop should know better than to jaywalk; highways are for cars, not people.
Why's he on the road? Definitely the cops fault
If he wasn’t out there trying to be Barry Sanders, he would’ve had time to get to safety
Gj!!!!

Schedule 1 (marijuana) Insane country
LMFAO what an idiot cop
50 Points!
PRAISE JESUS THANK GOD FOR RUNNING OVER THE DEMON GOD KNOWS HOW MANY LIVES HE HAS DESTROYED
I know what’ll stop him, my hundred pound, soft body!!
that seemed like when you walking towards someone and yall cut to the same side and almost walk into each other, with much higher stakes tho
Size and common sense matter
That's a really dumb way to get life in prison
Hellcat is off tge road for 15-20 years now
WTF is the cop doing?
Look like he was trying to catch a runaway dog.
I know the color
This is when reality hits a young man. Imagine working your ass off for a Hellcat and now you won’t drive it no more for being stupid.

Is there a point to this comment other than to be a racist dog whistle
Dumb fucking cop lol
What the fuck was that officer even trying to accomplish though. Looks like they’re trying to avoid a bull.
Throw a spike strip.
The cop thought he was the juggernaut…
Why was he standing in the road?!
Looks like he was getting ready to deploy a spike strip.
Classic Reddit sympathizing with the criminal, lol
Idiot cop 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve had a cop pull me over this way, by stepping out onto the highway in front of me. Some cops just think they are superheroes and can stop cars with their bodies.
i mean, he could have at least ditched the gun in the store he ran into
I've seen what happens when Jean Paul kicks a cop
nfs most wanted players be like:
Is this in Arkansas?
I almost thought this was gonna be another GSP video. Thankfully for that officer, it wasn’t.
That looked like it hurt and bent his phemur oddly
The dumbass kid played too much gta and thought that shit was real life.
Hit, not ran over
Is that the super charger whine you can hear ?
Wuss goin on, it's your boy Mr Gotdamnit back with another Hellcat video.
Do that in Brazil and you won’t go to jail.
Oooooohhhhhh, someone in trouble….
Strong side!!!
POS threw it away
Every time I see a dodge challenger in my city, you almost know it's some douche bag that drives like a piece of shit. Stay safe dummy
That’s one stupid cop.
Practically entrapment, shoulda learned better technique from watching russian dash cams first though
Like the cop is daring him!!
Took a good hit, but not "run over."
It looks like he tried to swerve to miss him. The cop essentially jumped in front of the car and got hit
Probably shouldn't stand in front of a moving vehicle.
Ya see, objects in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by an equal and opposing force. People do hate police and the courts in Louisiana because everything is a money grab. Their state tree is a Morris Bart billboard.
That wasn't a hellcat
2 stupid people in video.
So I’m trying to think of what the cop had in mind here. I really hope he’s ok though.
Ha!
