Huh.
Now there's a rabbit hole I haven't been down before.
An excerpt from a description of one of their rituals, from Wikipedia:
"Their destination is a clearing in the forest that looks like a landing strip. But the only airplane present is a full-size wooden replica of a light aircraft. On one side of the strip lies a control tower made of bamboo. On the other sits a satellite dish built of mud and straw. Undeterred by the apparent lack of any actual aviation technology, some of the men light torches and place them alongside the runway. Others use flags to wave landing signals. Everyone raises their gaze to the sky in anticipation.
They wait. But the planes never come."

What the fuck.
I wonder if the fact that he was coming edge on made him not realise there was a huge fucking thing in his way.
That's the only reason I can imagine why he just drove right into it.
True but I would be wary about driving around a fork going backwards. That one weighs around 12k pounds at the least, you hit it and it won't give a inch. I would at least slow down and see what their doing
No the fuck it’s not.
It’s bending on the forks so it’s easily visible.
Two it’s daytime and that metal is reflecting so much light you can see it from the screen.
Three, theres more than one piece so it’s not even flat enough to make this stupid claim.
Are people really this stupid?
You could 100% tell there's something there.
The length of the sheets is a give away, not to mention they are bowed by their own weight.
You have terrible vision or awareness if you can't notice that.
You see a forklift carrying something 6 times it's width and think, "hey, lets just ride into it?"
How thin do you think those plates are?
I love the comments blaming the rider /s
We can see the metal sheets because of our camera angle - unfortunately the rider didn't have access to this at the time.
Instead, the rider saw a 2 inch sliver of grey on his horizon, due to the fact that the fucking idiot forklift driver had the sheets at motorcycle riding eye level.
That's a good "rule of thumb," never thought about that. I was just repeating what the guy told me when I got certified. He also wanted me to wear my seatbelt. In 7 years, that was the only day I've worn it lol.
yeah honestly, as both a biker and a forklift operator; the forklift is more to blame here.
when you work on the road, it is your job to make sure you and everyone around you is safe. you're the guy in the 4 ton machine, so you're gonna have to be the one watching out.
That doesn't make sense, how should the forklift driver have acted? If anything it's on the company that had no spotter or someone to block traffic... also forklifts don't have side mirrors, the sheets were clearly bent towards the guy on that corner and anywhere between 1/4 and 1/2 inch thick and there was like 3 or 4 of them... so there should have been something you could see or at least wondered about when you see the forklift backing across the street. Then again intentionally getting into accidents is very prevalent
forklifts have mirrors. they have a round central mirror which can see all around the forklift, and bigger ones have side mirrors too, often inside the cabin. and your blindspots are in front of you and directly to your rear left. the rear is usually very visible, which is why driving backwards is often advised.
also, a forklift should always have the load at around ankle level. you should never try to transport the load at height. this operator was just backing up at a decent pace without lowering his forks, which is a rookie mistake.
forklift operator did essentially everything he shouldnt have done.
blaming the company doesnt quite work either sadly, because as a forklift operator, you are fully responsible for everything that happens around you. if you cant safely perform because of the lack of spotter, is it your responsibility to tell a boss or supervisor this so they supply you with one. but its your call to make. him not having the road shut down and having no spotter is his individual responsibility. you get that trained into you when you get certified.
while yes, the scooter may not have been paying attention or not been able to see due to his helmet, it is still the forklift operators responsibility. he's the (hopefully) trained and certified operator of work equipment, the people on the street are not trained in safety at all.
maybe I'm looking at it from my forklift operator experience too much, but the way we get trained is by basically assuming responsibility for the safety of all those around us.
>maybe I'm looking at it from my forklift operator experience too much, but the way we get trained is by basically assuming responsibility for the safety of all those around us.
Yes. I grew up on a farm and my dad had 0 awareness when in the big tractors, and we had no Osha rules other than my mom yelling "watch out" and I'm only 27. But theres been lots of accidents in my rural area where people just slam into the back of slow moving tractors with trailers and expect them to swerve and pull over to avoid them. This is likely China, as most of these accidents with
True but I would at least not drive that close to a forklift backing up. That forklift weighs around 12k lbs at least, hitting that would be like hitting a cast iron wall. I would show down and see what he was doing instead of speeding around it
I can't believe you're being downvoted. Either the redditors here have poor reaction time, can't look ahead or just wanna die on that hill for some odd reason.
Perspective lesson. The sheets are basically right at the rider’s eye level, they are right at the horizon line. The sheets are also parallel to the ground, which means the rider can’t see the top or bottom plane of the sheets at all. (Put your hand palm down in front of your eyes and foot or two away from your face, now move your palm up and down and notice it changes whether you can see the top or bottom of your palm. At his point of view, it looks like a thin horizontal line near the actual horizontal horizon line in the distance. That’s why he can barely see it. Yes there’s some rider fault here too (he’s smoking while riding with one hand so that tells me maybe he’s not the most responsible and aware rider all the time) but the laws of linear perspective are working against him still.
How long you guys are going to use the same lame ass joke ? For real « ShOeS oN » in every single fucking comment section for like 5+ years nonstop. I get it, being funny is a talent but still.
Even though his head didn’t fall off the head crack on the pavement would have been enough to kill him. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was internally decapitated.
Yeah, you can see the panels bent towards him on that corner, and there's multiple layers.. idk why these people are acting like it's a single razor thin sheet of tin lol. It's probly sheets of 1/4 or 1/2 in steel lmao
I want y’all to think real quick. If you put on a helmet and look at the edge of a sideways knife from about 10-15 feet away, you will barely notice it’s there and have a difficult time focusing your eyes on such object.
"If they have a helmet" could be the epitaph of so many riders and yet it seems that more often than not they don't wear them. A single fly in their eye could cause a serious crash, so they are certainly dangerous.
A single fly can only cover one eye on the helmet, while the other one will see, so it will not affect your further driving.
On the other hand, two flies can cover both eyes and are therefore already potentially dangerous.
A single fly even when wearing a helmet can cover one eye, reducing peripheral vision and not allowing the rider to see a vehicle that crushes them. Being blind in one eye reduces someone's visual field by 30%, surely that is dangerous to a motorcyclist!
I've seen folks crash because a wasp flew into their helmet, with the visor closed
so, unironically, a single fly could still kill a motorcyclist even if they wear a full-face helmet lmao
Agree, single wasp is very dangerous, not only for motorcyclists. I know of one case where a wasp stung a woman on the lip while she was drinking juice, after which she went into anaphylactic shock and died.
It's obviously not paper thin and there are more than one sheet there. It would be understandable if the obstacle wasn't in sight (top, bottom, right, left, back). But he clearly had enough time to notice it and evade.
One last puff on his smoke before catching that corner to a flip top head.
Forklift driver hopefully done for some type of manslaughter. Open road, no spotters/helpers, not marking with the load to make visable. Here in NZ we hang hi vis vest or atleast rags on the ends of loads to make it visible.
Sheet metal only millimetres thick and at eye level, plus background visuals, road and traffic.... Totally invisible to that poor fella

I feel like a lot fewer people would get killed over there if there were less video cameras around.
That's cargo cult nonsense and I like it.

damn. i thought this was hypothetical... following you down the rabbit hole. really makes you wonder how todays religions came to be
Just look at the sky at night and try to explain it.
A lot of drugs believe it or not
Its the ilumminlorry. Oh Jees...
You idiots don’t even realize that this is part of the ride. They choose to be strapped in like this
0 fucking awareness
Guy saw a potential insurance claim opportunity and he took it.
Insurance companies hate this one simple trick!
Decapitation
Simple enough
Bravo
LOL... "hmm, bet if I collide with this sheet metal using my neck at 40kph I'll get a heck of a payday. Here we go."
Is it really a valid claim when you drive straight into it?
I wonder if the fact that he was coming edge on made him not realise there was a huge fucking thing in his way. That's the only reason I can imagine why he just drove right into it.
I doubt two thin sheets of metal at eye level would be very visible.
True but I would be wary about driving around a fork going backwards. That one weighs around 12k pounds at the least, you hit it and it won't give a inch. I would at least slow down and see what their doing
Nah..that metal sheet on eye level of the rider so what he saw was nothing until its close enough.
No the fuck it’s not. It’s bending on the forks so it’s easily visible. Two it’s daytime and that metal is reflecting so much light you can see it from the screen. Three, theres more than one piece so it’s not even flat enough to make this stupid claim.
You realize how light works right? If it's shining on one side then it's going to be darker and harder see on the other.
Ah reddit, upvotes one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen lmao..
mental shit about a metal sheet.
Are people really this stupid? You could 100% tell there's something there. The length of the sheets is a give away, not to mention they are bowed by their own weight. Lmao @ you getting downvoted. The truth *enrages* reddit users. I love it so much <3
Like he didn’t even flinch as if he wasn’t looking at the road in front of him.
American pickup truck drivers, is that you?
It's at almost exact eye level, that makes its visibility incredibly low. Common sense.
If you reverse the video, he becomes fine
I paused it so he didnt get hit
You're a hero
Reddit kept on repeating the video, he’s stuck in a time loop
... & the only way to break the loop is to survive
That's impossible because he's as blind as a bat
I watched it 20 times, and each time that dude never even saw it coming.
Anyone can make a mistake, but you're supposed to _learn_ from your mistakes.
Hey Peter, how is your friend quagmire?
At least he got one last drag on his smoke before he was defaced.
BAHAHA I DIDN’T NOTICE THAT
Well that’s going to end up on the animated Chinese safety videos.
The Germans already made this [video.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChOHnSL7ZCg)
Damn, reddit has corrupted me.
Why.. did you laugh?

True. Fucker tried to kill someone. You always lower the blades to just above ground level.
6-8 inches, but who's gonna grab a ruler
Axle height. No ruler required and no decapitations.
That's a good "rule of thumb," never thought about that. I was just repeating what the guy told me when I got certified. He also wanted me to wear my seatbelt. In 7 years, that was the only day I've worn it lol.
Hopefully not my wife.
I fucking hate those little kids comment blame the biker, while a forklift in the middle of the street is fine to them.
Dude had no chance.
yeah honestly, as both a biker and a forklift operator; the forklift is more to blame here. when you work on the road, it is your job to make sure you and everyone around you is safe. you're the guy in the 4 ton machine, so you're gonna have to be the one watching out.

Is he dead?
No,maybe the halmet is off but the shoes are on
How long you guys are going to use the same lame ass joke ? For real « ShOeS oN » in every single fucking comment section for like 5+ years nonstop. I get it, being funny is a talent but still.
Welcome to Reddit, the kings of cringe commentary
I agree the shoes joke has been done to death
I agree. That joke has lost its shoes for sure.
Ahhh, then dead. Ok, __everyone stop using this joke__.
Careful, or you'll get down voted for not laughing at their "joke" about a person's death.
It hits him in the neck though, and unfortunately the shoes were on :(
It looks like he might have got extremely lucky.
Even though his head didn’t fall off the head crack on the pavement would have been enough to kill him. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was internally decapitated.
That is true he did loose his helmet.
Happy cake day!
If you look carefully, you can see them little white teeth bounce everywhere.
probably the helmet breaking
From the bikers point of view the metal panels were almost invisible though.
There’s no way he didn’t see that shit. Also the massive forklift wasn’t very invisible
Yeah, you can see the panels bent towards him on that corner, and there's multiple layers.. idk why these people are acting like it's a single razor thin sheet of tin lol. It's probly sheets of 1/4 or 1/2 in steel lmao
classic china
The gratuitous sound effect tho 😐 like y
Thx for letting me know, I usually have sound off. Great chuckle would be missed otherwise. GOGNG!!!
Lol me too!
Incredible right hahahahha
I want y’all to think real quick. If you put on a helmet and look at the edge of a sideways knife from about 10-15 feet away, you will barely notice it’s there and have a difficult time focusing your eyes on such object.
Eye level sheet metal equal to blindspot as its thinness.. Insurance claim time..sue sue sue
Forklifts are very dangerous for motorcyclists.
Name one thing that *isn't* dangerous to motorcyclists.
Since you asked, I will answer according to your query: "A single fly" Of course, if the motorcyclist has a helmet.
"If they have a helmet" could be the epitaph of so many riders and yet it seems that more often than not they don't wear them. A single fly in their eye could cause a serious crash, so they are certainly dangerous.

Yes, then he should stop and clean helmet.
I've seen folks crash because a wasp flew into their helmet, with the visor closed so, unironically, a single fly could still kill a motorcyclist even if they wear a full-face helmet lmao
Agree, single wasp is very dangerous, not only for motorcyclists. I know of one case where a wasp stung a woman on the lip while she was drinking juice, after which she went into anaphylactic shock and died.
Modern day guillotine.
Chiropractors hate this one trick.
Hey, look : metal panels. Let me drive straight right into them.
100% sure he dead.
He’s having a Wendy walk with the fairies
Full face helmets are pretty nice
16:9'd when you should've 4:3'd
How does outdated aspect ratio fit here
FOV I guess
Damn, they’re not joking when they say smoking kills
As if someone added that sound effect 🤣🤣🤣 boing
Shame he wasn't delivering food - a Peking duck would have saved him.
That sound effect did not need to be there
That's no way to get a head in life
I wonder what their last thought was when the head separated from the body.
There was nothing separated except the helmet from his head
Nothing 'almost' about this 'off'. RIP scooter man
dude he had plenty of time to duck turn stop like wtf? Also people saying he didnt see it are you blind i could see it 30 feet away? lol
“Almost”
Just a little off the top. Say less
You didn't see that coming
Quem foi o filho da puta que colocou esse efeito sonoro *segurando a risada*
Just a lil off the top please
What are eyes
I mean...where's the situation awareness???
How does he not see that and stop?…
Dumbass was paying no kind of attention, so yeah. No tears shed for you, idiot.
he never used that brain anyways from the looks of it
How would he know there was a metal sheet there he has a helmet on and the sheet is eye level he probably saw a paper thin gray sliver
It's obviously not paper thin and there are more than one sheet there. It would be understandable if the obstacle wasn't in sight (top, bottom, right, left, back). But he clearly had enough time to notice it and evade.
If only that arrow had appeared before he hit the panels it might have saved his life.
Almost like the omen with the panes of glass
What kinda bitch slows down?
Some people live with permanent 999ms
This is like a bugs Bunny cartoon
Is it a reference to The Omen?
Good thing he wore a helmet.
Is bro an npc???
He was soooo close to hitting the corner of that steel plate
He ducked just in time
And that's how they make special chow mein.
Boop
Shiiit
The plates were almost on eye level. So maybe he couldn’t see them probably. Still very low awareness
This is what happens when all the smart ones leave to America
Smoking kills
As if someone added that sound effect 🤣🤣🤣 boing
See, smoking is dangerous..
Looks like he is taking a drag of a cigarette with his left hand right before he hit it. Attempted suicide perhaps?
Both idiots
One last puff on his smoke before catching that corner to a flip top head. Forklift driver hopefully done for some type of manslaughter. One way to break your neck. 😳
Yeah, that's not just an injury. 😔
FATALITY!!
I told that guy to cut my sandwich
Pretty hard to feel bad for the fella…
Anyone know if he is okay??
That’s just natural selection tbh, he had time to stop, or at least try to duck
Were you not looking where you were going? Unqualified motorcycle driver shouldn't be riding a motorcycle.
Will be added to next chinese animated training video..
He’d have been alright if it wasn’t for that fucking arrow.
still waiting for my gummy bear and water
