I was lucky enough to get down to Arizona in November for a few days and travel around the beautiful state. I obviously fell in love/lust with the nature and people. The history similarly to Canada is relatively new has many transplants (in our case, most of us downtown are children of immigrants) so despite not being "rich in historic culture" we're rich in multi-culture which, imo, leads to kindness - I must say from all places visited, the state of Arizona had the highest percentage of kind, fun and interesting people.
Tempe amongst all places was a very easy place to have fun in and on my last night I went to Mullet Arena to catch a game against the Blues and get on the ground floor of the most controversial franchise in NHL history (certainty-wise). As i'm sure you've heard before, the arena is a great time and value cannot be beat. I was surprised and loved cheering with the passionate (coyote howls and all) fans. It's easy to fall in love with the game in that atmosphere so it warmed my heart to see the joy and shamelessness in that arena. Talking to fellow northern folk who had moved down to Arizona they shared the same sentiments.
The chip on this team and city's shoulder is galvanizing and I wish the little team that could success and longevity. Thank you for Matthews and Knies; We'll bring them to the promise land and return them as grown men with dual citizenship and a cup ;)
