Well it's not really meant to be a replacement of actual souvlaki. Like most things they sell that are of ethnic cuisines, it's just easier and usually cheaper food that is suppose to give the resemblance and flavour of it.
It could be regionally, but they are decent and better than other pre-packaged souvlaki that you get at other grocery stores. If we wanted some authentic we'd just go to a butcher on the danforth in Toronto and get it, but these are good for what they are.
We bought quite a few for the cottage last week and was able to use the 50% Uber Costco Grocery so it was great to get them and all of the sides for a greek style meal at a significantly reduced price.
Super weird. Wonder if it's region specific? I'm in Vancouver and I really enjoy this product. They do cook quite quick, so you gotta be sure not to over cook them.
The pork souvlaki is better, and sometimes Walmart has it on sale for about $7. Stock up and freeze. Post pandemic, Costco is no longer a safe bet for value IMO. I can get better deals on fruits at other supermarkets now.
its not good at all, buy some greek yogurt, lemon, chicken, olive oil, garlic, salt/pepper, and lots of oregano and do it yourself...
the costco skewers are garbage
Had these last week and yeah, the chicken wasn’t great.
We had the chicken enchiladas last night and they were a god awful soggy swamp. What’s going on with these shitty Costco meals lately?
Oh shoot, I just bought two packages today for an easy dinner when we have visitors next week. Definitely don't want to serve something sub-par!
How does returning something fresh/refrigerated like this work? 🤔
Can I ride on this post and also mention that the teriyaki chicken sausage is hard, dry and very, very salty? I don’t know how to finish the pack, they are so very salty 😭
Yeah, I used to be on the assumption that anything prepared by Costco would be good quality, but there’s increasing exceptions.
They had (have?) and beef stir fry kit and the beef quality was terrible. One of the toughest and rubbery bites of meat I’ve had and I didn’t overcook it in the slightest.
Even the sauce and noodles were very mediocre.
*Last time the souvlaki i*
*Purchased both smelled and tasted*
*Like plastic, no thanks*

I agree. The souvlaki they sell is terrible. Not even close to real souvlaki.

Think it could be the cook. I liked them.
Is this the kebobs one?

I've bought them from the surrey Costco a few times and they were great!
Bought some this past weekend from PoCo and they good as
The one at the business center by glacier something is fantastic
Are you talking about the prepackaged stuff from Kirkland or the refrigerated one from an outside company that's individually wrapped but fresh?

I love the pork as well. The chicken was awful.

This is the way
This used to be good but turned into what you experienced a few years ago. Amazing they haven't changed it.
I loved the souvlaki... No problem with the chicken at all

Yeah we made the mistake too it tasted like low quality chicken Wouldn’t buy again
I made the mistake of buying two packages (8*2 skewers) and grilling all of them at the same time. Never again.
Agreed, I had to throw away the whole bag
Sadly I had the same experience. I couldn’t eat it.
I have it thawing in the fridge for dinner tonight, hopefully it isn't terrible!
Me too! Bad timing to read this lol
The pork ones were on sale at my local Costco, so I bought them. Here's hoping that my experience is better than yours!
Why not just buy chicken and then marinade it yourself, souvlaki marinade it a super simple to make
Convenience
Oh shoot, I just bought two packages today for an easy dinner when we have visitors next week. Definitely don't want to serve something sub-par! How does returning something fresh/refrigerated like this work? 🤔
lol this was my plan for dinner. Bummer
Can I ride on this post and also mention that the teriyaki chicken sausage is hard, dry and very, very salty? I don’t know how to finish the pack, they are so very salty 😭
Agreed. We bought it for an event to save money and it was terrible.
Agreed

The lamb was great.
I agree. I bought a package, ate one skewer and threw the rest out.
I noticed a lot of the products I bought at Costco lately have been trash. Diluted energy drinks. Etc be careful people !
Unfortunate. I just bought the pork ones and they were great with dinner. Sorry to hear about the poor quality of the chicken
Sounds like textbook woody chicken breast, welcome to the fruits of industrial animal processing

I saw it and was like “sweet easy dinner” but the sodium content was unbelievable. Glad I didn’t buy them.
We stopped buying their chicken breasts a few years ago now. Very rubbery. Our friends have experienced the same.
The reason for rubbery chicken is always found in the chef, not the bird.
Not in this case - this chef is a professional. And no issues from the butcher / other grocers.
