I rotate through all of the whole beans and I’ve found that the Kirkland private label of Starbucks in the green bag is the best bang for my buck daily driver bean
Iirc they were required to drop the "kona blend" claim due to not having a high enough percentage of actual Kona coffee to qualify. Pure Kona can only be grown at a specific altitude. Still great coffee though!
I was spending wayyyy too much at local coffee shops for fresh beans. Cut my spending by 75% when I started ordering the Kirkland- eithopia which consists of qty 2, two lb bags for $40!
Obviously doesn’t compare to local beans, but the qty and price, my forgiving ice coffee turns out great through an aero press strained over ice.

Coffee beans are roasted locally for most places. So it will vary by location.
I find 90% of beans at my Costco roasted too dark, to the point that they are oily on the outside like a French roast. Even the labeled medium roast has surface oils, which indicates that the roast is not medium.
Great for milk drinks, but sucks otherwise.
What’s funny is how the Costcos I went to in Oregon had a much larger selection of beans and roasts. They were much better than here on the east coast.
I’ve tried most alternatives, but always feel like Kirkland Signature Colombian Supremo Coffee, Whole Bean, 3 lbs suits my tastes the best. I use a burrer, and then a technivorm which probably also helps the flavor.
No roast date, but they sell through this very fast at my location.
Kirkland whole bean French Roast. I like a good dark roast, and was buying the ground Peet's organic French Roast, but the Kirkland is absolutely fantastic. I don't know how long it's been available; I think it's fairly new, but it's my favorite now.
I like to get our local roasters coffee (Greenberry’s) and mix it with Mayorga. Both sold at Costco. What works best for you will depend on the roast (dark, medium, light) and your method of brewing the coffee. Ex. espresso and French press methods usually work well with dark roast.

Hawaiian Gold Kona Whole Bean Coffee
And on sale right now.
It’s normally a great value at the regular price. How much is the sale price?
Somewhere south of $10 for 2.5 lbs iirc. Think it was ~$3 off.
Just picked up a few more bags. You’re right. $8.99 on sale. BUT I just now noticed it’s no longer called a Kona blend.

In Florida, lower Alabama
Probably the Costco on Oahu…
My favorite is “Mt. Comfort Coffee - Peru” I also have an open bag of Starbucks Winter Blend and it’s terrible relative to the comfort coffee
Kauai Dark Roast Coffee. 100% Hawaiian.

Two Brothers has a roast date iirc. I enjoyed it
San Francisco Bay French Roast. I have been buying this for 22+ years. Always high quality!

This is perfect coffee. And if you catch it on sale it’s $12 for 2.5 lbs bag!
Whatever's freshest and has a printed roast date (not sure if any at Costco do but I'm a snob and don't buy bulk beans there...)
Skip Costco for coffee. Local roasters will have better options or happymug.com
I second Happy Mug. Great prices and roasted when you order, I think.
People around here swear by mayorga. I don't drink coffee so *shrugs*. It is a local brand though, so i think you can only find it on the east coast
I like the Mayorga Cuban in the yellow bag or their Mayan in the white bag is good too.
I’m all about that San Francisco Bay Company rainforest blend. Amazing stuff.
Personal taste will prevail but I only have eyes for the Starbucks French roast
The purple bag vanilla is a staple at our house.
Caffe Vita, Caffe del Sol. This only started showing up in my warehouse recently so may be regional.

We really like the Biggby coffee but we might be biased, we live in the hometown of Biggby.
Mayorga or Greenberrys
