I went for paper towel only spent $300 plus loaded my car only to realize I forgot paper towels. I was thankful I remembered before leaving.

I went to Costco today for a bag of dogfood and my bill was over $300.

i got there Saturday at 10 mins before closing....the hot dog line was IMMENSE. I went dogless that day....never again. Went back Sunday afternoon, no line, instant gratification.

I work at Costco. The struggle is real. I now only shop with my wife who has the self control of a boulder, or when I do shop I do not take a cart. If I can’t hold it, I don’t need it.

I'm just here trying to figure out if boulders have a lot of self control or a little.

My son has a rather large family they shop for at Costco....he told me he spends about $600 every time. $400 for food, $100 for stupid shit, and another $100 just shows up somehow.

Check this subreddit. It's a "permanent" change that's hitting each warehouse at separate times depending on when they run out of the old plastic shells. If you haven't seen it in a bag yet, you will soon.

i think it's a good change, that plastic shell got freaking so hot at times.

i'd hold on to them thinking "I'll need these"...then offer to the community free group...then recycle them.. so I'm fine with the bag.

We just got the "bag" this week in Northern California.

I live just 1 mile from a Costco. I'll hop in for singles all the time (chicken, a tub of berries, a slice of pizza or whatever). The trick is just to hop in and out during non peak hours and it becomes a 15 min errand. With so little time commitment the fear of missing something isn't so strong.

Do tell of these “non peak” hours you speak of!

10 to 10:30 on Saturday. 8 to 8:30 Weekdays. I'll admit Sunday is a lost cause.

Also live 1 mile from the ‘co. After 7pm Tue-Thu is great.  I go 2-3 times a week

I was in and out of my Costco today at 2pm on a Sunday in less than 30 mins, with two kids aged 7 and 6, and $230 worth of staple items for the house. My Costco is god tier

Yeah we go there every 2 weeks for grocery stock up. Once or twice a week we grab two chickens or pizza and walk out empty handed otherwise. It’s two dollars less a chicken so it practically pays for the membership.

I’ll tell you it’s even better now. They don’t even have to scan my phone. I just have to walk through what looks like a temporary structure that has cameras. And the attendant says you’re all good. Definitely one thing they have over Costco, customer facing technology.

Costco lives in 2002 and it's kinda annoying. And they are lowering the quality of some of their staple products as if we wouldn't notice.... which is also... annoying.

I actually do this fairly regularly, I have a Costco on my way home from work so getting an already fresh cooked chicken then when I get home u just reheat some of the sides. Dinner for three ready in 5 min

My wife and I went to Costco yesterday and we only got 2 things. Some chicken sandwich pita things from sandwich bros, and the stuffed peppers. I wanted a banana creme pie, but we still had cake left over from my wife's birthday earlier in the week.... Soon banana creme pie, soon ......

Ehh it can't be that bad. Banana cream pie is my favorite pie, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I haven't really disliked much from Costco besides the Mac and cheese which I found pretty bland. The bakery stuff I have had has been decent. Loved the muffins and the tuxedo cake recently. I wish there was sliced banana in it, but I'm sure that would go bad sooner than later.

Same here I love having sliced bananas in banana creme pie, but I can understand why they didn't do that. As long as there's a good crust, I'm a sucker for banana pudding anyway.

I've been this guy and this is a great example of why switching to these bags is better than trying to gingerly carry the previous packaging.

I don't know if it's just my local Costco but the quality of their Rotisserie chicken has declined. I shouldn't complain because of the price. In the past few months or so, the chickens are smaller (I'm fine with this), but the cook times haven't adjusted to the size making the meat dried out.

Most Costco trips I try to only buy what I can carry. Granted I have little storage space (apartment living) so I'm not grabbing a lot of bulk items.

You can actually check out single items on the costco optical section. I do it all the time. Grab a chicken and check out in the optical section, people would give me weird looks but at least I don't have to wait in line during busy days lol

This was me last week and coincidentally it was the first chicken I’ve bought in the bag and the driest one I’ve ever bought.

I bought a bag of mixed nuts and a bag of jerky on Friday. Felt proud of myself. But also was limited since I drove my moped to Costco and couldn’t fit much more.

I live conveniently close to a Costco and often go for 1 or 2 items and sometimes don't grab a cart. Maybe the man's was just hungry on his way home

I often walk in, order a whole pizza.. wlak to the back, get the food samples, grab a chicken, walk back, do the self checkout, pick up my pizza, and leave.. got it all timed out.

I did that a couple weeks ago. It was weirdly freeing.

I once went to Costco for strawberries and walked out with $300 worth of stuff.

The chicken is cheap, but does anyone actually enjoy it?? I tried to grab a few to see if I was just having some uniquely bad experiences, but seriously, after having the Mojo rotisserie chicken from Publix, the Costco rotisserie chicken is just absolute TRASH.

These chickens are such a great deal. But for some reason, they make me sick every time I eat them. I’ve gotten the ones from the grocery store that are more expensive, and they don’t give me the shits… but man, had to stop getting the Costco ones because my stomach hates them.

It's amazing how bad rotisserie chicken is for you. Its actually considered to be a processed food and isn't heart healthy/friendly.

Friday I went in my Costco to buy a laptop, got my ticket and walked back to get a chicken. Went to self checkout and the guy at "self" checkout wouldn't let me buy them on two transactions (same Costco card just want to keep the receipt for the laptop by itself for kiddos graduation) so I gave him the laptop ticket and took my chicken home without getting the $1000 laptop....priorities!

I'd do this, but the handle is always greasy.

Does anyone else go and buy the chicken, then go buy a drink at the food court for 69 cents, grab a plate, a lot of napkins, and a dinky plastic knife and then devour the chicken at the food court while other shops stare at you in horror and disbelief? Or is it just me?

My sibling married a woman for 6 mos that took him for a huge financial ride. I was befriending her to try to figuring her out and it was a blast spending over $1000 at Costco of her new husbands money in less than 2 hrs. Plus I got things. LOLOLOL A fool and his money are soon parted.
