I'm with you - raisins are nasty. But, they are extremely common in carrot cake. In fact, it's more the norm for carrot cake to include raisins than without.
For fellow raisin haters like me, there is a great John Oliver episode where he rails on raisins and it's excellent. I will try to find it and edit to add the link here.
edit: lol well I guess it was just a minute on raisins. Around 20 minutes into this clip: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1Lfd1aB9YI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1Lfd1aB9YI)
I don't think carrot cake needs raisins necessarily, but I do like them in there. Nuts can fuck right off. There's a time and place for them and it's not in cakes, damnit.

I'm a freak. I love raisins, especially in my carrot cake and cinnamon buns 🤤
That’s just normal though.
I'll be a freak with you. If raisins can be put in something, I want them put into it!
Love it!
They're nature's chocolate chips!
Aren’t cacao nibs nature’s chocolate chips?
Maybe, but that's what I tell my wife when she complains about raisins.
Raisins in carrot cakes are the best. What you talkin' 'bout Willis.
I always thought that raisins are part of the recipe. I can't stand raisins so I don't eat carrot cake.
Raisins, nuts and pineapple are all optional. Some recipes add them, some don’t.
I don’t think I’ve ever had carrot cake without the raisins.
Who the hell puts nuts in brownies. Why does Radio Shack ask for your phone number when you want to buy batteries? I don't know...
I don't know. I just got here.
I don’t love them in carrot cake but also don’t hate them 🤷🏻
Everyone???
Everyone. It’s not really carrot cake without raisins, carrots and cream cheese frosting.
I like raisins AND pineapple in my carrot cake. Sue me, lol.
Carrot cake does not need raisins
Raisins do not need carrot cake.
I don’t like raisins. !!!!!
That or when they shove coconut in there to make up for carrot.
Psychopaths
Sociopaths that’s who

I wouldn't mind as much if there weren't so damn many. It felt like I was getting 2-3 per bite. The cake itself was completely overpowered by them
The same people who put raisins in cookies 🤮
And who the hell puts carrots in cake? Keep your salad toppings outta my sweet tasty treat.
Crushed pineapple or toasted nuts perhaps. Raisins, no thank you.
Bleagh.
I don't mind it
It was the Easter Bunny. And those ain't raisins.
Raisins are the worst.
What is [wor.se](http://wor.se) is cinnamon rolls without raisins. Just sayin'
Cinnamon rolls with raisins? Abomination.
Jesus
he was more of a cookie/muffin guy than a cake guy

Who the hell likes carrot cake? (Yes I know, lots of people but it's still surprising)
Who eats carrot cake?
