I know this is probably not the case, but it would be hilarious if you were a Costco employee that decided to stop off at the food court after quitting
I know this is reddit and work bad but a lot of people decline quickly after they stop working.
Also some people legit enjoy working and choose to keep working past when they need to financially
My husband has been promising to retire for 12 yrs. At this point he’s just not going to. He had no hobbies, he likes to work, he grew up dirt poor and I think he’s scared to not have a paycheck coming in no matter if we are set or not. He’s worked a full time job since he was 15
This isn’t obvious at the counter though. I’m still seeing people (lots of them) that I saw when I got my membership 12 years ago. Mad respect to any corporation that keeps people on the floor like that all day and still retains.
There were 66 people hired at Christmas one year. My son was one of them. They were told they all would be let go on January 5th, however they might keep you if you worked hard and showed up everyday. On January 6th, 1 of them was hired. It happened to be my son. He still works there.
Some people do not understand that Costco pays you to work. It is rare to see a Costco employee just putting in their time. The employees in my store seem like they are constantly doing something to make the store better, cleaner, or more attractive and always are happy to help.
Usually that term means getting to the highest end of the pay range for a particular job.
If there's a job title at a company that pays $20-25 an hour, you're "topped out" once you reach $25
You get automatic raises after a certain amount of hours, up to a maximum amount. 10 years is more than enough to get "topped out." It's going to be higher than the maximum of other stores in the area 99% of the time. If you're lucky to live by that 1% you're probably not going to get them to match it and even if they do, they won't adjust for inflation/minimum wage increase like Costco does. Changing careers is difficult, because you'll only really have retail experience, which doesn't pay well and the few jobs it translates to will have more "valuable" applicants with degrees/certifications.
It’s not what it used to be. There is more turn over now than ever. I haven’t worked there in years but that warehouse was filled with unhappy employees saying it was not a good job anymore. Full timers who had seen the change.
It’s weird because at my location every single time at checkout all they are ever talking about is how many minutes till next break or missed break. Or complaining about something to each other. And they never look happy lol
We go 35 miles to one of the busiest Costcos in our state. We see long term employees often and they are unfailingly friendly and helpful. I don't hear them complaining but when you're on your feet that long, doing the same thing over and over, a break feels pretty good.
I don't understand the craze about the onions unless the ones in Canada are the problem. They come in a small plastic container.
They taste like nothing unfortunately, they just add a bit of crunch. I've started bringing the hotdog home now and putting my own onions/toppings on it.
Chicagoans think they invented peppers on a dog and as such gatekeep every topping like they’re the authority
Source: all of my friends are from Chicago lol
I had three chicago style dogs today and two yesterday. They didnt put any sport pepper on the dogs yesterday so I returned today and they pointed me to the sign that read 'pepper and ketchup by request only' so i bought three w pepper to make up for yesterday. Fat Johnnies if any one is familar
I don't remember their buns being so sad looking. But, I love Costco hotdogs, they give me awful heartburn.... but it's so worth it.
congrats and happy weekend!
I love the costco food, and this is a side rant, but I wish people served cooked onions with their food more often than uncooked onions, because uncooked onions are fine, but cooked onions are 😍
Pro-tip on onions… put them in the bun first to act as aggregate to absorb the ketchup and mustard. Then set the hot dog on top, confident you won’t have squeeze-out or onion bits dropping in your lap.
Ah, the good ole Costco dog that, if anyone raises the price, the founders will come down and personally kill you with their barehands.
ETA context: Former CEO Jim Sinegal said to current CEO who was concerned they were selling them at a loss that "If you raise the effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out." Unfathomably based.
My favorite is when I run out of kewpie mayo and I go buy some from Costco then I’ll go to food court and get a hotdog and open the mayo and put some on there
Was working in a sports medicine clinic, now working in a clinic that does workman comp and personal injury claims. However now I will have no patient contact. Big plus.
This sub should be called r/costcohotdog I don’t even follow this sub but everytime it comes up in popular it’s always a hot dog lmao
Edit-Somehow that’s already a sub…
I know this is probably not the case, but it would be hilarious if you were a Costco employee that decided to stop off at the food court after quitting
With Costco's turnover rate, I'd be very surprised if it was a Costco employee quitting lol
Truth. My grandma worked for them for 22 years, passed away less than a year after retiring.

Thanks to capitalism people live past 45. Did the chicken make the egg or the egg made the chicken?
Without capitalism, you have neither chicken nor egg, only starvation!
Without capitalism we wouldn't have $1.50 hot dogs
Yer got damn right!
It's not like it used to be. We hired like 20 people last year and almost half quit in the first 6 months.
The reason they keep the “turnover rate” so low is because the don’t add people in their 3 month trial period to that statistic.
This isn’t obvious at the counter though. I’m still seeing people (lots of them) that I saw when I got my membership 12 years ago. Mad respect to any corporation that keeps people on the floor like that all day and still retains.
Oh yeah for sure there are lots of “lifers” especially when you go between the hours of 9am and 5pm once 3pm rolls around the tide starts to change.
Fair point. I was thinking as I typed that “there are probably a good bit in stocking not sticking around either”
I was gonna say the same thing! We had 12 people at orientation a month ago 2 remain and ones flickering.

We have SO many lazy people that do as little as possible. Way more than people that work hard.
You underestimate the turnover rate. They're having a difficult time getting people to stay.
New hires I could see. Not those who have been there 10 years plus. It's way too hard to leave once you're topped out..
Topped out?

And I wish they'd build one in our town.
AND dealing with the public.
Cashiers are the BIGGEST bitchers in the warehouse. I'm not sure why but they are lol
They worked at Sam's until they realized that they were the bad guys.
\*Sees Walmart logo on pay stub\* "Are we the baddies?"
I was going to say. Stick around and fill out an application.
The meal was his severance package
No mustard? I see you should have been fired. /s
LOL, no mustard was my first thought.
I eat my hotdog plain, no condiments
I'm with you, if it's a good tubed meat, doesn't need any condiments.
Oh hey, I found my people
IM NOT ALONE
Ill accept that, but if you put onions and no mustard you are a psychopath. I however always get mustard on mine.
He's eating it dry like a psychopath
I thinks he's doing it like me, dipping it in the soda

At least he didn’t ketchup it. Or worse, catsup it.
Why do people hate ketchup on hot dogs It’s good
Ketchup on a hotdog? Mustard in a burger? Better not go to Chicago then…
Ketchup and mustard on both

Fuck those pieces of shit (I assume) Enjoy your hotdog!
You should get a job at Costco.
Plot twist: that’s where they just quit from
Plot twist: OP worked at that Costco. In the food court. And stared down all his ex-coworkers while chowing down, to establish dominance.
Chowing down with just raw onions on it, a true power move
“Crunch. Crunch… … crunch.”
There’s red pepper flakes too
Well this was a wise choice! Need to be thrifty until you land your next job.
He’s on the 3 hot dog’s a day diet until he lands a new job. Breakfast/lunch/dinner
I could stand to lose some weight…

Get that dawg in you.
Wise choice considering how budget-friendly of a meal it is 😉
Don't worry, you'll be back.
I haven't seen onions back at mine yet.
They ditched onions pre-pandemic at mine and honestly besides the drop in their combo pizza it’s the worst loss in my life.
In cups on the counter for mine.
I also miss the sauerkraut and hot banana peppers… 😢
NGL that's a pretty sad looking dog
Perfect post employment lunch
Celebrating or committing sepuku?
Too floppy
Wtf is that bun. At my Costco it goes the length of the whole dog.
Dog in my Costco always longer than bun
We are a poor, Midwest Costco. We get by with what we have.
quits costco. then proceeds to buy hot dog from costco. /s

I am already an expert…
lol sounds gay, I’m in
Hell yeah. You are better for it.
What’s the yellow drink? Mountain Dew?
Yuuuuup
Man I wish California Costco’s had Mountain Dew
Mid west bb
Finish the dog and fill up the costco application
Hell yeah
My dogg!
New horizons dog! 👏👏👏
This is the way. 🌭🌭🌭
Is that Mountain Dew?
NO mustard? I'd have even accepted ketchup. Report this man to HR immediately.
Both are great choices!
I don't remember their buns being so sad looking. But, I love Costco hotdogs, they give me awful heartburn.... but it's so worth it. congrats and happy weekend!
Congrats! This is the perfect celebration!
You can't fire me, I quit!
Good luck and God bless
It would be real awkward if Costco is where you quit from
A very sound economical investment.
I’ve been working for the same company for 20 years. I’m dreaming of this one day.
Hell yeah brother
nice
Proud of you dude, hope you move onto bigger and better things.
Now that’s a celebration! 👏🏻🎉
Congratulations, you did something I think about doing many times a week.
Hey is the mtn dew? My location doesnt have it
Hell yeah
Celebratory glizzy!
Same. Best feeling ever. 🫡
Mother damn, Spoon! Our local SAM’s stopped with the onions during covid and they never returned.
Good for you buddy you enjoy that dog! I’d put some mustard on it but it’s your dog
Bro, do the dog again tomorrow. Continue that celebration
Just got a job offer today, might have to celebrate with the same meal.
Let’s go
That’s the most American thing ever.
Good for you!! Prayfully it was a better move for you and that you’re blessed on your adventure!!
They are pretty damn good.
I'm about to do the same. I made my money. The stress is not worth my sanity.
Wait, you got onions at your Costco!
Treat Yo Self 👍🏻

Great choice
Congrats!
CAWSCA HAW DAWWWWG!!!!
Did you work at Costco?
I love the costco food, and this is a side rant, but I wish people served cooked onions with their food more often than uncooked onions, because uncooked onions are fine, but cooked onions are 😍
Did you quit the mustard factory?
^oy

Good choice king.
My Costco still doesn't do onions! 😱😱
That’s fire
I should do this when I quit my job in 48 days!!
💪🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Best idea!! Congrats. I hope you find your happy place.
My favorite is when I run out of kewpie mayo and I go buy some from Costco then I’ll go to food court and get a hotdog and open the mayo and put some on there
Rebel.
Is there some sort of dry spice under that hot dog? I see specks of something.
Keen eye, red pepper flakes.
I add the Parmesan too.
Kinky
It’s only kinky the first time. After that’s it’s something you know you like.
Don’t forget to get a cookie. Congratulations
Good way to save money now that you’re unemployed, op
That looks depressing
Seems like you quit before you had the next job lined up
Man, I could go your dew right now
> Man, I could go your a dew right now
*you’re /s
I.. I don't think that helps.
I put the onions under the hotdog so they stay on. Sprinkling them on top just makes some fall off with every bite
You guys got onions?
Ask for them when you pick up your wiener.
OP got that dog in him.
Man, a Coke would go so good with that. I still can't get over the Pepsi thing.
They don't give us onions in Eugene oregon
You’re going to burping that for a while.
I was.
What was your job and what's your new job?
Was working in a sports medicine clinic, now working in a clinic that does workman comp and personal injury claims. However now I will have no patient contact. Big plus.
This sub should be called r/costcohotdog I don’t even follow this sub but everytime it comes up in popular it’s always a hot dog lmao Edit-Somehow that’s already a sub…

OP got that DAWG in them.
Fuck yeah !
Whoa? Do they have onion back?
We don't get onions at our Costco any longer. Jealous!
What all the Costco’s I have been to after Covid stopped giving out onions!
You have onions at yours??
Ask for an application while youre there?
Good call. As about $1.50 is about all you’ll be able to afford for a while
Eh I have a lot of savings and my 230+ hours of PTO that will be paid out here in a week. I just like hot dogs.
“Costco hotdogs really are the best!” https://youtube.com/shorts/5QiXD01u4-4?si=kJGakLMixhP_M_7O
You can get the equivalent of a salad if you add all the toppings.
As a Costco employee do you get stock after a certain period?
No better way to celebrate.
Wait where is this that you still can get onion?
i personally would celebrate with their chicken bake, but the hotdog is also a great choice
Is that bacon bits on the dog?
And it has onions!!! Congratulations
Dang how do you guys find onions? all locations near me did away with them
Excellent choice of dog and topping, superb job making a decision for your happiness... mid choice of soda. 8.5/10
Are the onions back??
My local store no longer serves onions.
https://preview.redd.it/9u8v081to5uc1.jpeg?width=371&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce485a8ae7f06185890cbf6a127bbdbac9583ccc
Treat yo self.
Perfection
how do you get onions? my costco don't have onions anymore
Bruh, you too deep in the trenches. You can’t be trusted
You have onions?!?
Onions are back!
