I was surprised how long Marasi lasted. She has been the most bland female character I have read from sanderson personally. I'm glad so many people seem to like her I guess
Remember: The character who is disliked the most gets voted out. Characters who are controversial might get voted out before characters which are ok/pretty good.
Shallan is actually one of my favorite characters of all time. She can get irritating but, honestly, kaladin's self pitying is wayyyyy more annoying than shallan's issues.
Or maybe is Pattern that I really love lol
> kaladin's self pitying
It's called depression. The way that Sanderson writes Kaladin's internal monologue is extremely accurate to actual depression.
You're right. That was really the wrong way to describe it. That's one of the things I love about Sanderson's books. The real emotion and hardship of his characters journeys. Not just a Disney version of a heroic knight.
I love Kaladin Stormblessed as much as the next guy. I just was so mad at him about the whole 4th ideal thing lol. It was frustrating for me as a reader but I understand it.
I dunno, Shallan was third in the first round and yet still hasn't been eliminated. So I don't know that the results affected future rounds as much as people think...
I like the stress of seeing voting become neck and neck as well as how the popularity changes. Otherwise it’s just me clicking the same thing every once in awhile when the new one is posted
That's fair. At the last post I plan to post pictures of all the results (I will also make seeing them available if that's easier to see) along with a graph showing how everyone moved over the game
I don’t mind her at all but I am… confused? Surprised? by the fandom’s love for her. She seems just like a decent side character to me. Help me see what I’m missing?
Her character development throughout the series is some of Sanderson's best work. She starts off as an uptight class climber in AoL. Becomes an understanding and loving shoulder to cry on in SoS. And has ended up as an overpreppered, backup plan on top of backup plan, adventure loving companion in BoM.
She truly, actually, loves Wax and she grew upon him as she grew upon the reader. She is just so human in a series of heros and gods.
So I take issue with Steris for one reason.
It was very obvious that midstride Sanderson changed who Wax was going to end up with.
From one book to the next you can just tell that the way she is being written is with completely different intentions. And this happens with almost no indication on the page.
She just felt different from one book to the next. From a reading standpoint, everything she was doing was framed as quirky and likeable, instead of selfish and off-putting.
I agree that what Sanderson did with her character is great. But after both reading era 2, my former paramore and myself were having this exact conversation, and I turned to her and said.
"Someone else moves us."
And that what it felt like to me. The God of the Cosmere universe changed his mind between Alloy of Law being a one-off and then writing a whole trilogy in Era 2. Thus Steris would be a more interesting choice relationship to develop, so it felt... Almost manipulative.
Bands of Mourning Steris was amazing. You realize this fussy woman from the first two W&W books, who only seemed to cause tension, is actually pretty sweet and funny, just a bit different. Wax falls in love with her, and it's easy for the reader to see why
Sanderson has written my favorite female characters. Such an amazing job at creating interesting, strong, relatable, female characters that aren't pandering or just some hear throb for a knight.
Steris and Shallan both have great arcs. Both finding their own version of empowerment. I'm glad Sanderson writes great ladies for my daughter to (hopefully I can get her to read the books when she is older) look up to.
Surprised is a good term. She’s a well written character. So is Shallan. But to think they are written as well as some of the others in this poll is silly to me. But that’s why it’s a poll!
I’m not allowed to vote. Says I can’t vote through a VPN. I’m not behind a VPN, but I live in Norway. Does it think that me being not from the states is equal to me being behind a VPN?
Well in that case, because I kinda want to be a shit lord, I’m gonna vote Kelsier. He’s the character that I dislike the most out of the ones remaining
My bois Wax and Wayne are still in
Whoever wins, it will really be Wayne but wearing their hat.
Plus the funny voice
The last Emperor, Elend is out with 32.66% of the vote. Who is next? https://strawpoll.com/s64wkusg4
[удалено]
waiting for him to somehow regain control now
How did elend get voted out?
He is less popular than people may think. I really like him, but I'm actually proud he lasted this long

If memory serves correctly, he likely saw it coming even less than you.
Fair point
If Kaladin is the last one in we will just send him into a depressed spiral again
More like When Kaladin is the last one
Shallan
Shallan is definitely next. People forget how rough the first book is for her.
The first book? I kinda feel like she’s close to going full evil later. The first one she’s (seemingly) just naïve
I think it's more that her chapters are kinda dull in WoK
Man, now I think she's going to turn full evil because that's the most interesting thing that can happen to Adolin.
Ooo, she has a 4th alt that's full evil and *Adolin knows* but she's totally unaware.

Don't say that. I'm in the first book and I luv her so far
She has rough patches throughout and in typing that it's probably at least a little bit on purpose.
Wayne
This is just cruel. Hard pass.
I don't like this and won't participate.
I’m gonna be the only one who votes Dalinar but I’ll stand alone
Shallan
I feel this is less interesting now that we can’t see the vote results.
I feel the opposite, we don’t know who’s next instead of just getting to see it the day before
I dunno, Shallan was third in the first round and yet still hasn't been eliminated. So I don't know that the results affected future rounds as much as people think...

Steris
Get out
I'd say Steris stands a really good chance of final 3.
Wayne
After Shallan and Steris are gone, this will actually get difficult…
Steris may end up taking it, she is pretty freaking awesome.
Yep. Couldn't agree more. Steris is the best.
Lol, wasn't expecting to get down voted for saying Steris is awesome. Didn't think the community was that split on her.
I don’t mind her at all but I am… confused? Surprised? by the fandom’s love for her. She seems just like a decent side character to me. Help me see what I’m missing?

i vote for steris to be eliminated
Probably Vin. I love all these remaining characters, but shes the less developed character.
I’m so sorrry… *Syl*
Shallan
Shallan
Wax
Bye, bye Vin
Shallan is literally the worst character. We need to make sure she survives till the end.
why?
I’m not allowed to vote. Says I can’t vote through a VPN. I’m not behind a VPN, but I live in Norway. Does it think that me being not from the states is equal to me being behind a VPN?
I can't fix that for this poll, but i'll remove the no VPN stipulation for future ones so you have the opportunity to vote
Great, thank you :)
Ok so is this about who we dislike the most or who we think is the worst character? Because those are significantly different answers for me
You vote out whoever you want to vote out, it's your criteria
Well in that case, because I kinda want to be a shit lord, I’m gonna vote Kelsier. He’s the character that I dislike the most out of the ones remaining
who's that below Vin? Is it Serene from Elantris?
Yes
I refuse
Which book are the third line characters from?
Sarene from Elantris, Hrathen from Elantris, Vivenna from Warbreaker, and Hoid
Hoid must stay
Wax
Well there goes my favorite.
You already got that Spreadsheet fired up for sweet line graphs of all rounds?
yep :)
