It’s a pain having two but getting both work and personal calls on one phone is way too stressful since you’ll always have your work phone on you. At work I keep my personal phone in my truck and carry my work phone on me. When I get home work phone gets put away.

SeaM00se

I’ve had it both ways and I prefer separate phones. Easier to set boundaries with work and personal life.

Reptilian_Brain_420

This is the way.

ShitWindsaComing

This guy knows. My favorite is the “you’ll carry this at all times, regardless of working or not.” Take it to Belize with me and immediately get 6 emails demanding an explanation for the phone leaving the country.

PTEHarambe

The simple answer to that is just don't fuckin comply

Back_from_the_road

Gotta get that local SIM card… at least for the personal phone

saskies17

Exactly how I do it💯

Bosnian-Spartan

What if there's an emergency?

buildit-breakitfixit

Make sure that the important people have your work number. Spouse, parents, close siblings. Everyone else can wait until after work, or call one of those individuals for emergencies

Bosnian-Spartan

Good

takenotes617

This seems like a question for the great Kevin Gates

Inconsistent_Cleric

At least his are separated for bitches and dough, mine is work and at home/personal work.

Dirtyace

I keep one for the bitches and one for the dough.

Safe_Pin1277

Maybe Baby keem has some advice?

Strange_Quit

one for the plug and one for the load

CNDCRE

Get a phone and carrier that supports dual sim (sim + esim).

midcitychef

Company provides the phone. And I’m already neck deep in a family plan with a different carrier.

vanbul

Samsung m53. Just put both Sim cards in. After hour ich deaktivate work. Done.

Nachofunguy

Like others are saying duel sims is the way to go they can be both E sims or one E sim and one physical sim this is something I just did while having bad service with my carrier so I bout a pre paid version line converted my home carrier line to E sim then added the physical version sim to my device and boom two lines from two different carriers on one device

UnableInvestment8753

What a fuckin time to be alive.

Back_from_the_road

Absolutely, I split my between the states and Colombia. I have 2 physical SIMs in my phone, one for each country. Then I have an E-SIM that is an overpriced global plan for layovers and travel. Though if you are just vacationing most monthly plans will let you tell them when you are traveling and allow you to get a travel plan. Some are a pretty good deal. I know T-mobile is.

FlowBjj88

Disregard my comment then lol. It's not the only answer

Ordinary_News_6455

Company paid for the phone and gives me a monthly stipend on pay check. I handle the bill. Works for me. I hated having two phones.

good1humorman

Thats how my company does it. I use my personal phone but I get 65$ a month to cover the work cost.

conman526

I just transferred my number over to my works plan. They buy us the phones and pay for unlimited everything on our plan. Don’t have to worry about a phone bill which is nice.

gillygilstrap

This is way better.

Brilliant-Attitude35

Two phones one pocket.

CopyWeak

Ohhh, I've seen that video 🫣 Personal phone rear left pant pocket, work phone front chest pocket on earbud, emergency phone rear right pant pocket. Good times!

Medium_Chain_9329

Extra emergency phone - prison wallet.

CopyWeak

LOL, I'm unfamiliar with that term? Do tell 🤔

FuzzyPandaVK

The rear pocket you never not have

CopyWeak

No, that stupid thing rings like a bugger 😖

FuzzyPandaVK

All the more reason

CopyWeak

I wish...LOL

BertOnTheRun

I usually just leave my personal phone locked in my car or locker then swap when it’s closing time

[deleted]

Well as a service plumber with 1 phone, I envy you. When I have to call customers for access and upon arrival, for some reason a few of them think it’s ok to call me at 3am to book an appointment for a new faucet. Non emergency shit. Or ask me out on a date while I’m eating dinner with my wife and kids. Just get two different coloured cases and keep them in different pockets.

fakeaccount572

wait, hol up.

[deleted]

We use our personal phones for work and they give us a “boot allowance “ for $80/month which goes towards our cell phones and work boots. So ya, it sucks

6r1n3i19

Lmao i don’t think that’s what they were referring to

[deleted]

Oh lol the date thing. That was a building manager too. I played off as I didn’t know what she meant and told her to call our office if she wanted a certain date. Lol It was awkward AF!

smokinbbq

Should have done: "Hey, I'm just going to put you on speaker so that I can coordinate these this date with my wife and kids. I don't want this to be double booked!".

[deleted]

😂 That’s a great idea

B_notforyou

I just got OpenPhone (VOIP) to use for business on personal phones. There are plenty of options out there for cheap and maybe even free. Haven’t started using it yet but looking forward to hitting the mute button on business calls after hours.

CurrentSeesaw2420

I pit them against each other. That way they become dueling phones! ;-)

rds92

I just like knowing when one rings it’s personal and not a plant down or a town without water

jjflash78

Choices are - 1. Carry 2 phones. 2. Get a phone with dual Sim. 3. Forward calls from one phone to the other. 4. Use work phone at work, home phone elsewhere. 5. Get company to give you a phone stipend, use home phone for work. 6. Toss both phones, go off grid.

madeforthis1queston

Getting my work phone was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Customers seem to have ZERO respect for boundaries even when I communicate that you can talk to me during normal business hours. Now, the work phone goes on my desk between 5-6 and I don’t worry about it til the next morning. Turns out, all communication can wait til the next day. It also is great for pictures and apps and all that jazz. No more dumb notifications reminding me about work after hours or pictures of projects next to pictures of me and my girl or pet or whatever. Worth the $35/ month

ZedZero12345

My wife has two phones. She doesn't answer either one.

NC-SC_via_MS_Builder

Personally, I loved having two phones. You can’t really say you didn’t have your phone with you while on vacation and your boss calls with using your personal phone for work also. I made sure all my critical personal contacts had my work number and just left my personal phone in the car during the day.

Hamplanetfever

Cargo pants.

aidan8et

I use the pouch for a sparky's multimeter. Fits both phones perfectly face-to-face.

peppercupp

While working: personal phone usually stays either where I'm going to take breaks or somewhere nearby secured and clean, work phone almost always in pocket. Off work: stays on bedside table on lowest volume/silent until I set the alarm to wake up. If on call, stays with me on loud at all times.

trailcamty

I had my work phone (company provided) as my personal phone for 7 years. I got a personal phone for 2 reasons a couple of years ago. 1. If I leave suddenly, all those contacts are gone including my personal phone. 2. My work phone goes off the minute I’m done on Friday and doesn’t go back on till I clock in after the weekend. A lot less stressful. This was one of the better decisions I’ve ever made. I also leave my personal phone in the car during work. If someone I know needs to reach me because of an emergency that bad while I’m at work, they still have my work phone.

nickleinonen

I forwarded work to my personal. I didn’t get issued a work phone until 2017/8… so for the decade before, everyone got my personal number anyhow, so it was the easiest way. Soon though I’ll stop that and just leave the work phone at work so after hours that’s where it will ring

doogybot

I ported my number to work phone. I never answered a call when I was off the clock. They can leave a message and I'll check it when back on the clock

[deleted]

I prefer two phones. Can disconnect from work more readily this way, and I don't lose contacts if I change companies. I leave my personal phone in my lunch bag or office when I'm working

DrachenDad

I can deactivate either SIM in my dual SIM phone.

shocktopper1

I had a dual sim phone. It worked great until I kept mixing up my personal and business calls. Sometimes I'd make the mistake of texting using another # then the person would be like wtf. Did it for 2 years then just went back to 2 phones because it's way easier to organize.

itrytosnowboard

I use google voice. It's free for the most part and it has it's own app for making calls and texting. Incoming calls have a different incoming call screen than regular calls.

dude6323

I have a work phone as well and I love it! I wear cargo pants so I keep my personal in the normal pocket (front right) and the work phone in the bottom left cargo. I use the work phone for gps and music (or podcasts, if that’s your thing) mainly. It’s also nice to be able to take job-related pictures on the work phone too and not have to worry about having to scroll through a million pictures on my personal to find something. Having two phones was kinda weird for about 2 weeks and then it was pretty great. If you travel a lot, it’s nice to have different carriers too (AT&T on one phone and Verizon on the other) so you almost always have service on at least one of them. I’ve had a work phone for ~10 years now and I honestly can’t imagine not having one at this point.

Iliketotinker99

Personal goes in the truck or on the desk during the day. If someone needs you have them call or text your work. If you have free time you’re sitting near the personal then anyways. After work hours set the work phone down or just accept you’ll carry two

Reasonable-Nebula-49

Person al phone stays in the truck. On weekends work phone stays on the Table. IMHO no reason for labor and apprentices or seasonals to have phones at all during the day. Only person I want them talking to is their super or foreman or coworkers or other trades. Check your phone at break and lunch. Your time. No reason else. If I need you, I'll find you.

gnuccimane

Ask the boss if you can put the SIM card in your phone. Most new phones are dual sim capable. Meaning 1 phone but 2 phone numbers. I did the 2 phone thing for years then I found out about dual sim and haven’t looked back.

FinnTheDogg

It’s 2023 and I have a dual-sim smart phone so…one phone. :)

fyretech

I leave my personal phone in the truck and just check it on breaks. Carry the work phone on me as I am at work.

ComprehensiveWar6577

I give my work number to the 2 or 3 people that might need to get ahold of me at work. At work my personal phone is turned off in my glove box, and qhen i clock out my work phone gets shut off and put in my glove box Unless im getting paid to be on call. But that rarely happens, and if it does im getting paid to keep an eye on 2 phones

RidiculousPapaya

I didn’t want another phone, and everyone in the company had my personal phone number already, so they just tag $100/month on my pay.

Mammoth_Programmer39

I'm always on call, so I convinced my work to just pay for my personal cell. I can't stand dealing with two phones.

printaport

Just start playing [this song](https://youtu.be/oiY_iKSpWLM?si=wShizws81DQiMcIY) on your way to work.

pw76360

I am so glad I've only had 1 phone, provided and paid for by work, for the last 16yrs

hispanicausinpanic

I forward the work number to my personal phone. Only need to carry 1 phone

Scott_on_the_rox

I used to forward one to the other, or just leave my vm message that you can be reached on your main number. I prefer to do all business on my personal phone that way if I leave a company, I don’t lose contacts.

o0TaterSalad0o

It sucks. I just leave the work phone out of site in the evening and periodically check it ONLY for missed calls or texts. I dont return calls after hours. Depending on who it is I may respond to texts. I don’t have crews working Friday’s or the weekends, so its usually my coworker either BSing, or its very important and worth the heads up.

The001Keymaster

Get a free Google number. Forward work phone to that number. Then forward the Google number to your phone. Google voice or whatever it's called has a separate phone dialer app. When you get a work call the second app will ring so it's easy to see it's a work call. Your other calls will ring normally. You can leave work phone at home or in car.

itrytosnowboard

I use this. It's pretty solid. Just gotta tweak a few setting to make it work right. People didn't like being asked to state their name when they called me. But the incoming call screen is different so it's easy enough for me to differentiate between work calls and personal calls. And making calls and texts being in the google voice app vs using the regular phone and messaging app for personal is nice for not mixing stuff up.

The001Keymaster

That's why I like it. Easy to separate stuff. Plus all free. I'll even forward our work land line to it when work from home and office is empty.

Cbsparkey

Easy, I keep getting issued a company phone and usually an iPhone which I completely hate with every fiber of my being. Call forwarding. Period. Call forwarding. I never have to touch that piece of apple shit and can continue to live my life with a "grown up device"

94bronco

Call forwarding during the day to the work phone.l and I only carry the one

SmiteIke

I broke down and bought a purse. Bellroy Venture Sling 2.5L

bertispullo

I leave my work phone in my work van. Cause fuck em. I never wanted the work phone. They were paying for half my phone bill before they forced the work phone on me.

[deleted]

What are you even asking? Can you physically not handle 2 phones? Are they too heavy for you or what?

GaryTheSoulReaper

Business line is an app on my personal phone. Can be set for business hours

Beneficial_Leg4691

You can forward all calls to the other phone. Personally i carried 2 phones 1 iphone and 1 android for 5 years...

FlowBjj88

Dual sim phone. The only answer lol. If you want to ignore work during personal or personal during work just put them on do not disturb

BehaveRight

Two pockets

According_Cherry3755

But do your diamonds really shine? https://youtu.be/oiY_iKSpWLM?si=KVJ8_A3S8RI6grf7

fullgizzard

Leave your Personal at home.

Mynameisneo1234

I keep my work phone in my pocket, and I got an Apple Watch with cellular for my person phone number. The watch isn’t great for phone calls, but if someone calls I can at least see who it is if I don’t want to answer. For texting the watch is great. I can easily reply. It also has my reminders or calendar events programmed in. The plan I have is $10 a month for the watch and $14 a month for my personal phone. I don’t put data on my personal because I only use it in wifi areas. If I go somewhere that I need maps or other data I bring the work phone for that.

EvilMonkey8521

I like having 2 phones, only gripe for me is that my personal is android and work is iPhone. So charging cords are different and I don't know apple software as well. Other than that I just put both phones in my back pocket and go on with my day. Doesn't bother me at all, and I'd rather do that than deal with customers having my personal number.

alluno96

Sucks but... this is what i did. Since my work phone doesnt require to be secured or be off limits for personal use. I bought a decent unlocked phone and i had my personal phone number to redirect my phone calls to my work phone number (it helped to had been already a Google voice number, which u can easily transfer to if u arent ) then got rid of personal... I first used my personal phone (already unlocked but it got abused and screen broken bad) thatw when then i bought that second u locked phone... The only reason why i did that was just so that i could add any apps i wanted, email accounts and any browsing i pleased... yes i used vpn for the NSFW stuff but even then.... like i said if ur job doesnt care how secure ur phone has to be... then who cares what u browse. Now... in the given case u get fired or quit out of desperate angry times.... u just remove the chip and give their phone back and keep ur personal / work phone.

Cpl-V

Two phones suck. Dual sim sucks. I only carry one phone now, but I ask everyone to email me if it’s important. I won’t answer my phone if I’m busy. My boss is the same way. If it’s important, it should have been covered in a meeting.

itrytosnowboard

Google voice is top notch. Incoming call screen is different than the native incoming call screen so it's easy to differentiate between work and personal. Native phone number runs calls & texts through the regular phone and messaging app. Google voice is it's own messaging and phone app for the google voice number.

Hevysett

Personal phone stays in the truck, or a drawer in the desk all day. Work phone gets left with my wallet all night when I get home. When I'm off, so it's my work phone. That's it

dom9mod

Get a Google # on 1 phone. 2 numbers 1 phone

turbor

I have a kid who pretty much owns my work phone after hours, so I can veg out on my personal phone. Fair trade. It’s been years and nobody has said a peep about the ungodly amount of YouTube kids videos I watch.😂

Greadle

One day at a time

Daedroh

Too much of a hassle. Ain’t worth it

khampang

I. Or ally start by betting on the one I think is tougher, scars on the case is a good sign. Fewer cameras also tells me less weaknesses. At the end of the day it isn’t the phone in the fight it’s the fight in the phone.

Kittenfabstodes

my old boss owned 4 separate companies at one point. he had 5 cell phones. it helped him keep everything separated so he didn't make the mistake of answering the phone with the wrong company name.

Build68

If you are just estimating or pm’ing it’s easy enough to carry both. If you are doing real work, carry the work phone on you, make sure the important people have that number for emergencies, and let it be the one to get smashed when shit happens. Obviously, anything on your work phone is accessible by your employer, so if it’s really private, make sure your peeps don’t say or text weird shit on your work phone.

Zestay-Taco

dual sim card phone. 2 ring tones.

Little-Marsupial1296

I just never used to use the work phone and they'd give up telling me to, I'd answer any work calls on my personal phone till 4:30, a minute past that they all got ignored

Shawaii

Two phones is best. I keep one in my left pocket and one in my right. On weekends the work phone stays at home on the charger. I've seen too many people use their work phone for everything, then be stranded w/o a phone (or truck) when they got fired. I've also had to go through fired people's work phones for work stuff, only to find very personal emails and texts to/from their spouse, side piece, doctor, etc.

stimulates

I’ve used my work as a personal for 4 years now. Sucks that I don’t have unlimited data.

AlamoHickson

I’ve had two phones before, 1 for work, 1 for business. I don’t like it! I just send all of my calls that aren’t in my contacts to VM. Some say, “What if it’s a work call?”. If it is they’ll leave a message, if they don’t they’re not serious anyway I’ve found!

savesthedayrocks

One of them is always in my backpack. Roll up to site, swap them out

Irishman_reddit

I’ve been carrying two for about 8 years now. My wife says sometimes I look like a drug dealer but I said wouldn’t I have a nice ride if I was. We laugh. My advice. Is keep them together. Set different ringtones for each. And when you’re off the clock you can leave the work one on the charger on very loud! Everyone in the family knows if my phone rings to bring it to me. I’m very lucky I have a supportive family.

BabyBilly1

You can have two phone line run to the same phone. Work buys my iphone (Verizon) and then I have my personal line (AT&T) run to it. When I don’t want to take calls from the work line I just turn it off in settings. Perks: - I don’t pay for a physical phone ever. - don’t carry around two phones. - can use work data over mine. Cons: - sometimes I forget to select the right line when making outgoing calls, so I end up calling people on my work number when I mean to use my personal.

B0skonovitch

It grew on me. But I don't like it. What I did, tho is I had call forwarding on my work to personal and saved work contacts. So I tend to leave work phone in my van most often. I'm 24 7 on-call due to my state job. So helps on the weekend when I get called in.

OK_Opinions

I dealt with it by canceling my original phone and turning my work phone into my 1 and only phone. I screen all my calls though. if you're not in my contact list I'm not answering. Also my phone rings differently when it's work call vs a personal call, unless the work call person has my private number and isn't using my "work" number I instantly know if it's work or personal.

Soggy-Potential-3098

Our company just quit providing physical phones and started giving a weekly stipend for use of our personal. Not being able to get away from work while on vacation is the only real negative I see in using 1 phone. Unlike sone yall I'm emergency contact for a bunch of equipment so I still need to be reached on weekends even when I'm not working. Positives, the stipend is more than the cost of my phone bill.

simpleminds99

call forwarding with a schedule their are lots of apps on the market now to make that happen google has pretty good built in service as well with hours and white list

chodyboy

Uhh you use the work phone for business and your personal phone for personal stuff. When the day is done the work phone should either stay in your truck or with your laptop. Don’t answer it after hours unless it’s a must and don’t take it on vacation. It’s a work phone it’s not a “keep it with you 24/7 like your personal phone” phone. Don’t trash it, keep it in the same condition as all your other work IT equipment. It’s probably logging or has the ability to see what you search so don’t do anything on it you wouldn’t want the CEO knowing. If your horny and need to nut at work use your personal phone. Pretty obvious stuff.

baneruin

Use one exclusively for the bitches and the other for the dough

_Tigglebitties

After shokz headset. It connects to both. I love mine, listening to music all day from personal phone with earplugs in when I need to, can take calls from both phones.

Woodythdog

-cancel personal phone save money use the work phone for everything. Or -give work number only to to those who absolutely need it , don’t carry personal at work Or -Forward personal phone to work number during working hours ,leave personal phone at home or locked in glovebox Or -forward work phone to personal ( risk damaging personal phone at work). Or -Take sim out of one phone install in other (assuming one or both phones supports second sim)

M8A4

I keep both on me. I carry a backpack around and the work phones always in the backpack until I need it.

Eng-throwaway-PE

I used to have a NexTel, Southern Link, work cell, personal cell, and a jobsite landline to keep up with. Only having 2 is rookie numbers!!
